Berkeley Lawlessness
February 17, 2017
00:01:00

“And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.”  Matthew 24:12 (NKJV).

Representative Val Demings of Florida called the violent riots at the University of California-Berkeley a “beautiful sight.”  She said she was “encouraged” to see young people get involved with the political process through protesting.

No Congresswoman, that was not a protest.  That was criminal thuggery lawlessness on display.

We’ve reached the place in our country where civil dissent is no longer viable. Now, Congress members celebrate violent temper tantrums as long as they comport with their political agenda. Civility is allowed only where secular progressivism is advanced.

NFL Standoff

“Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has stumbled in the public squares, and uprightness cannot enter.”  Isaiah 59:14 (ESV)

Texas is considering legislation that will keep men out of women’s restrooms and vice versa, similar to the North Carolina’s HB2.  As a result, the NFL is threatening to punish the Lone Star State unless they get on board with the trans-agenda.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott responded like a true Texan.  He tweeted: “NFL decision makers also benched Tom Brady last season. It ended with the NFL handing the Super Bowl trophy to Brady.”

Governor Abbott’s tweet may provide some insight into the phrase “Don’t mess with Texas.”

Kuwait Ban
February 15, 2017
00:01:00

“And he has determined the times before appointed and the bounds of their habitation.”  Excerpted from Acts 17:26 (KJV).

Nationals from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan have been banned from entry… into Kuwait.

The Kuwait government cited “difficult security conditions in the five countries” in its reasoning for enacting the 5 nation ban.

It has suspended all tourism, visit and trade visas, as well as visas sponsored by spouses, according to Kuwait authorities.

So, we have a Muslim-majority nation banning nationals from other Muslim-majority nations, that happen to be hotbeds for terrorism, because Kuwait recognizes those nations have unstable governments…

I guess protecting national interests is important.

The Union
February 14, 2017
00:01:00

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”  Genesis 2:24 (ESV)

God ordained the marital union to be a living, breathing illustration of Christ’s relationship with his bride.  Ephesians 5 lays it out in great detail.  A relationship, where all of the flaws, faults, warts and scars are known, yet the love commitment thrives.

You won’t see this in Romantic comedies because, frankly, Hollywood types have no idea what Biblical love is.  The marital union is a glorious institution characterized by passionate commitment and mutual humility, where spouses esteem one another more highly than themselves.  Marriage is more than a relationship, its ministry.

Religious Liberty Now

“…And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”  Excerpted from Esther 4:14 (ESV)

The largest recent protest included over 62,000,000 people from 30 states.  That was the November 8th protest in America’s voting booths.

Many Christians supported President Trump to fight for Religious Liberty. Candidate Trump promised to protect it. President Trump committed to protect it.

Visit afa.net to add your name to the petition already signed by thousands where we call on our president to make good on his promise.  AFA President Tim Wildmon will deliver the petitions to the White House to let President Trump know we voted in November and we’re watching now.

Exceeded Authority
February 10, 2017

When King Uzziah exceeded his authority he was thrust out of the temple by 80 priests, who were valiant men.  Summarized from 2 Chronicles 26:16-21 (ESV).

Alexander Hamilton wrote in Federalist 78, the judiciary was the “weakest” of the three branches of federal power.  It had “neither FORCE nor WILL, but merely judgment; and must ultimately depend upon the aid of the executive arm even for the efficacy of its judgments.”

Today, we have a judiciary that sees itself as superior to the other branches of Government, where judges will deny black letter law and impose their own view of immigration policy.  What do you when the judges refuse to obey the law?

Professing to be Wise

“Professing to be wise, they became fools.” Romans 1:22

Weeks after Washington State changed its law to allow men to use women’s restrooms, based on gender identity, a Seattle man entered a girls’ locker room, while young girls were changing for swim practice.

When confronted, the man said, “The law has changed and I have a right to be here.”

Christopher Hambrook of Toronto, Canada was sentenced to prison, after using Canada’s transgender law to gain access to women’s shelters where he sexually assaulted several women, though he previously had been convicted for sexually assaulting a woman and a little girl.

Bathroom experiments put women and children in harm’s way.

Politics or Principles

“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him.”  Ephesians 1:17 (ESV)

Simply because a politician may discuss an issue doesn’t re-classify that issue to make it political.

Murder, the intentional eradication of innocent human life at any stage, violates God’s word.

Sexual deviancy denies the created order and violates God’s word.

Racism denies the Biblical history the Gospel is based on and violates God’s word.

These issues, and many others, are inherently Biblical issues.  They are governed by the Gospel and its implications.  Political speech does not replace or supersede the Gospel.

In keeping yet another promise, President Donald Trump has nominated one of the people from his list to fill the open seat on the Supreme Court due to Justice Scalia’s untimely death.

Judge Neil Gorsuch served on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit where he was previously confirmed with a unanimous vote by the U.S. Senate, including votes by Senators Chuck Schumer and Diane Fienstein.

Judge Gorsuch is an originalist, textualist, and conservative jurist who will serve our nation well on the High Court.

An Ordinary Giant Slayer
February 03, 2017
00:01:00

David, the son of Jesse, was just an ordinary giant slayer.

David’s battle with Goliath is an epic drama where the little boy stands in God’s power to conquer the Philistine giant.

David didn’t awaken that morning expecting to slay a giant. He didn’t stroll in with an entourage after a rugged mountain range training camp like Rocky in Rocky IV. He was just a regular kid bringing his brothers’ lunch. But fully confident in God’s immeasurable power, though he saw Goliath, David never acknowledged him as a giant, saying, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine who dares defy the Lord of hosts?”

When regular people are fully persuaded, fully confident in God’s power, giant’s fall.

“And He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place.”

Acts 17:26 conveys to us the reality that we were born and placed in the 21st century by God’s specific design. He determined before time where we would live and when we would live there.

If you’re in Minnesota, Mississippi, or Maine, God put you there on purpose.

He’s not surprised by the darkness we see around us, nor is He caught off guard by it. In fact, He specifically prepared for it by making sure you’re alive right now. God can do whatever He wants, but He’s chosen to use you and me as ambassadors of His kingdom.

We are His torches to light up the darkness.

For years, Miami-Dade County has refused to hold some illegal immigrants in its jails for federal immigration agents.

But after President Trump signed an executive order threatening to withhold federal funds from sanctuary cities, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez changed his mind.

Mayor Giminez ordered the director of his corrections department to begin honoring all requests by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to hold immigration suspects in Miami-Dade jails.

With $355 million in federal funds slated for Miami in 2017, Mayor Gimenez had a timely change of heart.

Go to the Other Side
January 30, 2017
00:01:00

“Immediately He made the disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowds.”  Matthew 14:22 (ESV)

Here Jesus instructed His disciples to cross a lake and meet Him on the other side of it. As they went, they were met by a violent wind storm that halted their progress.

Often in our Christian lives we receive clear instruction from the LORD, only to be met by an obstacle that halts our progress. We must, however, recognize that the onset of a storm does not cancel out God’s instructions.

Halted progress does not equal denied destination.

When Jesus directed the disciples to go to the other side, He absolutely meant for them to get there.

Delay does not equal denial.

“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.’”  Matthew 19:14 (ESV)

Boko Haram, the Nigerian wing of Islamic terrorists, has stooped to new lows in its sworn quest to “purge Nigeria of Christians.”

They now use babies in suicide bombings.

Boko Haram dispatches women carrying babies in their arms into the various areas of Nigerian cities.  They use jihadi women to skirt local law enforcement.  Because these women are disguised as mothers they gain access to critical cities and these women blow themselves up as suicide bombers, killing the babies they carry.

This is how Boko Haram responds to Nigerian authorities’ attempt to fight terrorism.

Fatherhood Matters
January 26, 2017
00:01:00

“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”  Ephesians 6:4

The statistics show that children who grow up without a father are 5 times more likely to live in poverty and to commit crime. They are 9 times more likely to drop out of school and 20 times more likely to end up in prison. Yet, the percentage of children born to fatherless homes has skyrocketed in America.

As of 2015, 25% of white, 53% of Hispanic, and 73% of black babies are born into fatherless homes.

According to Scripture, the weight of raising children in the discipline and instruction of the LORD falls upon fathers.

It seems like we need a movement that says, “Fatherhood matters.”

- Imposing a federal government hiring freeze, except for the military of course.

- Eliminating funding to international groups that perform or promote abortions, including international Planned Parenthood.

He may have been your guy.  He may not have been your guy.  But it’s good to remember that God is the master of using broken sticks to paint straight lines.

The Great Commission
January 24, 2017
00:01:00

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.”

Jesus instructed His church to make disciples of all nations.

A disciple is a disciplined learner or follower who applies his discipline to every area of life. That means the light of Christ must shine through people in the church, the business world, and government.

People must be offered Christ, be equipped, and launched into the world as laser-guided, heat-seeking ballistic missiles, ready and able to light up the darkness around them. To do so requires they be introduced to personal holiness, biblical worldview formation, and an understanding as to how the biblical view applies to the life in the world around us.

"Lord, we ask that you cause our hearts to burn, to do our portion in fulfilling your Great Commission."

The Governor's Deal

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil." Isaiah 5:20a

Georgia governor Nathan Deal, a Republican, vetoed Georgia’s religious protection bill that would have protected the right of clergymen to solemnize marriages consistent with their religious beliefs.

The bill would have also protected faith-based institutions who used their resources to further advance their religious missions.

The bill passed both houses of Georgia’s legislature, only to be vetoed by the governor, who endured numerous threats of boycott from the film industry, sports leagues, as well as numerous businesses.

Interestingly, many of the same businesses who decry Georgia’s protection of religious liberty also do business in Saudi Arabia, but which one is worse: not being able to be married by a preacher, or losing your life for being homosexual.

Complimentary Genesis 1 and 2

“Always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for the reason for the hope that is in you.”

Many who oppose Christianity target their hostility on our foundation, the Bible. They say it is unreliable because Genesis one and Genesis two are contradictory accounts of the creation story.

In actuality, the two chapters are complimentary and not contradictory.

When Jesus was asked about marriage, He quoted from both chapters one and two, saying that He made them both to be male and female in the beginning. "And for this cause shall a man leave his mother and father and cleave unto his wife."

Genesis one is an overview of the creation story and Genesis two is an up close examination of day six. If Jesus relies on them both, so can we.

The Clinton Global Initiative, part of the Clinton Foundation, is set to close its doors once and for all.

As soon as Clinton lost the election, many of the criticisms directed toward the Clinton Foundation were reaffirmed.  Foreign governments began pulling out of annual donations, signaling the organization’s clout was predicated on donor access to the Clintons, rather than its philanthropic work.

What did the Clintons have access to before the election that they don’t have now… the White House and the State Department.

Without that access, foreign governments are no longer interested in the Clinton Global Initiative.
