Defending Creation on The Core today
Welcome to the Core with Walker Wildmon and Rick Green. I'm Rick Green, America's Constitution coach. Thanks for joining us today. And I've got some power packed interviews for you today, all on the same subject. We're going to defend creation today. you know, we fight all these political battles, we deal with education, we're doing everything we can to bring back the foundations of the country that made America great in the first place. And we know that America's very system, defined and described in the Declaration of Independence, depends upon, we hold these truths, that there are absolute truths, and that we're endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights. Now think about that. So if there's a Creator in the Declaration of Independence, and yet you teach your children and your nation that there is no Creator, that we're just blind luck. Big Bang came, from slime, however else you want to describe it, then it undermines the entire system. Not only does it undermine your worldview, not only do you start in the very wrong place and then your trajectory of your life ends up in the wrong place. Your philosophy, all of it. But as a nation, the culture, the whole idea of right and wrong, of the rule of law, of all of the things that made America great, you lose all of that if you lose the creator. So if you take the creator out of the equation, then your freedom comes from your neighbors, it comes from government. If there's no creator in the equation, then it's back to the law of the tiger and the shark. It's whoever's strongest. It's whoever can wrestle away the rights of other people or bring themselves to power through brute force. So it's essential that we get this piece right, the creator piece. Right. If we want to have life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, we have to get back to the idea that we're endowed by our Creator. And so today, some special guests we're going to be talking to about this. There are several great organizations out there that defend these ideas and teach apologetics and teach people how to defend the faith. And so we just want to highlight some of those folks today and just get some good reminders for ourselves. Plus, there's some special events coming up from these organizations that we want to let you know about.
Ken Ham says the Ark and Creation Museum are two leading Christian themed attractions
First up today, Ken Ham back with us. Always good to have you, sir, and excited to tell people before the summer's over to get out there to see the Ark and the Creation Museum. Appreciate you coming on, Ken.
Ken Ham Hey, thanks, Rick. Yeah, I mean the Ark and the Creation Museum are the two leading Christian themed attractions in the world. And by the way, the Ark is the biggest themed attraction in the state of Kentucky. So, people come from all over to, see the Ark and the Creation Museum.
Rick Green Well, we tell everybody to go, we absolutely love it. There's nothing like it. I mean, there's no. I tell everybody, Ginham does it first class. He does it right. When you go in there, you're going to learn. And it's amazing. There's just, I never expected the first time I went, I don't know, five, six, seven years ago, I did not expect, just how it comes to life. You know, I thought, okay, we're going to go through and it's going to be static or whatever. I mean all the animatronics or whatever you call it, it just feels like you've stepped back and you actually walked onto the Ark. it's unlike anything. There is. No, there's no attraction like it. certainly not a one with the biblical truth.
Ken Ham Well, no, there's not. And you know, the Ark is the biggest freestanding timber frame m structure in the world. It's actually an architectural marvel and some people say it should be classed in the seven wonders of the modern world. but, it is a life size Noah's Ark, 1 1/2 times the length of a football field, half the width of a football field, and it's built 15ft off the ground, stands 10 stories high at the bow end, has three decks with 130 different exhibits answering all sorts of questions, that people have. And people come from all over the world. We get about a million, people a year. Actually, since the Creation museum opened in 2000 and the Ark opened in 2016, we've had, upwards of 15 million people come and visit now. And people tell us, they just rave over it because it's every bit the quality you'd expect from Disney or Universal Studios. After all, Rick, if we're on about the truth of God's word and we're on about the gospel, shouldn't we have the best quality possible because we're on about the most important message in the entire universe.
Rick Green Yeah. And he said, you know, in Colossians, everything you do, you do the best that you can, as unto God, not unto men. And that's what you've done. I mean, you've made it, incredible. And I remember you telling me years ago how I forget the numbers, but a significant number of those people that have come to see it were not Christians. These are people that are just curious.
Ken Ham Yeah. In fact, our, ah, research, we've done research over and over again, thousands and thousands of responses. So it's very valid research. it shows us that about 30% of those who come are not Christian. I mean, I've been here and I've seen Sikhs and Buddhists and Orthodox Muslims, Orthodox Jews, Amish, Mennonite. There's even Baptists, Presbyterian, Catholic nuns, priests. I mean, it's a whole range of people. And when you come here, people from different ethnic backgrounds, different skin shades, eye shapes, it's a mix you would never see in church. And I'll tell you what, too, we have done consistent research year after year which indicates, very strongly that about 7% of those who come to the ark say they have become Christians as a result. Do you realize that would be about 70,000 people a year and about 25,000 people at the Creation Museum. In other words, close to 100,000 people a year become Christians because of the attractions. I mean, that is absolutely significant. And that's just the attractions alone, let alone everything else we do as a ministry.
Rick Green Yeah, let alone the curriculum and how many millions you reach through media, appearances and all the different things that you guys are doing.
Ken Ham: Genesis answers fundamental question that keeps many from coming to faith
and I think Ken, too, part of what I wanted to talk to you about is why that happens, because it answers that fundamental question that keeps so many from coming to faith. They've been lied to about the origin. And if you don't get the origin right, everything else falls apart downstream. And so you're attacking that thing first question mark and that first lie that they've been given and you're doing it in an entertaining, effective way. And I think that's why you see so many conversions. But what do you think?
Ken Ham Oh yeah, absolutely. You know, when you look at scripture in Genesis 3, the first attack was on the authority of the word of God. When the devil came to Eve and said, did God really say? Did God actually say? And that was to create doubt to lead to unbelief. And in the New Testament the apostle Paul tells us, that in fact it's a warning in 2 Corinthians, the devil's going to use the same method on you as he did on Eve to get you to position of unbelief. And what is that method he uses to get you to doubt and not believe the word of God? You know, we've had generations come through a secular, which means anti God education system devoid of the knowledge of God. They've been taught naturalistic evolution, which is really atheism as fact. And they think that the Bible can't be trusted and the Bible is not true. And 80, 85% of kids from church homes go to the anti God secular education system and many of them end up leaving the chur because they think the Bible can't be trusted. And the emphasis that we bring is one of apologetics and biblical WorldView by Apologetics First Peter 3, 15. Always be prepared to give an answer for what you believe. In other words, you have to give answers to the attacks on God's word, be able to defend the Christian faith like it says in Jude, contend for the faith. And so the questions that people have and what the atheists have said, oh, Noah's Ark can't be true. He couldn't fit all the animals on board, he couldn't look after them anyway. And evolution is true and the fossils were laid down over millions of years, so we have answers to all of those to point people to the truth of God's word. And I've had non Christians tell me we never heard the information we saw in the exhibits at the Ark Encounter or the Creation Museum. And this has really challenged us. And as I said, many do become Christians as a result. And that's what it's all about. And if people ask me, you know, sometimes I've had the secular media say, how would you sum up the message of the Ark and the Creation Museum? And I say it's very simply put this way, the history in the Bible is true, beginning in Genesis. That's why the gospel based in that history is true. And it's true because Genesis, the very first verse in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. If that verse alone is not true, the rest of the Bible is not true. And then Genesis 1:11 gives us an account of the biological, geological, astronomical, anthropological history that's foundational to everything. It's foundational to all our doctrine. It's foundational to the gospel. It's foundational to our, Christian worldview. If you want to deal with any issue, you want to deal with gay marriage or abortion or euthanasia or racism, you have to start from Genesis 1 to 11 and have the right foundational history concerning the creation of man, the entrance of sin and the promise of the Savior and so on. when God made man, he made male and female, two genders only. And that's the first marriage, a man and a woman. And we're made in the image of God. And right from fertilization, we're made in the image of God. So abortion is killing a human being made in the image of God. I mean, Genesis 1:11 is the foundation for everything. We go back to one man and one woman. So we're all one race. There are no different races. So it's the foundation to deal with everything.
Rick Green Everybody eats it because it's not just a non believer that's getting this incredible experience and often, finding this truth and then come to the Lord. But most of the church today, I would argue, can't answer these questions and is ill prepared, not just the kids, but every generation. And so it gives them confidence in their faith and that solid, you know, that ability to respond. And you think of the 18, 19, 20 year old that's going to go into a college classroom and have to defend the faith. And if they don't have this foundation, it falls apart. It's why they, you know, what is it, 80% walk away from the faith when they go to these universities, but also just all of us in our 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, sitting around the, you know, chatting and talking and somebody asks a challenging question and we aren't ready to answer. That's why this is so important what you're doing, Rick.
Ken Ham You know, I have found, look Biblical literacy, illiteracy permeates the church. And so many churches have not taught apologetics, they've not taught people how to defend the faith. And one of the reasons many people don't want to go out and really share their faith or challenge people is because they feel intimidated. Because as soon as they do, they bring up questions or make attacks on the Bible and they don't know how to answer them. But what a difference it makes when they're equipped with those answers. It does give them, just like you said, it gives them that confidence and they become, become more bold in their faith. It makes a big difference. And I've had people tell me that as they go through the Ark and the Creation Museum. They've said, I've learned more here than I have in my whole life in church or even at Bible college or seminary because most Bible colleges and seminaries don't teach the importance of the foundational book of Genesis. Now there are some that do, but they're a minority. And so for many of them, they say, we learned more at the Ark and the Creation Museum than we have done in our whole lives. And wow, it's given me a new confidence to go out and share the.
Rick Green Truth with people that it's, it's phenomenal. It's one of those things when you do it, you never forget it. It's one of those like seminal, like this is a spike moment where you know, you have these epiphanies as you're, as you're walking through there. And I'm telling you, anybody listening right now, if you have not been, you have got to go. Ken arkencounter.com Best place to, to kind of plan your trip. And is, is, is there a season like when do you guys stop doing or is it year round?
Ken Ham Well Rick, I can down the car. Arkencounter.com is certainly the best website to go to and they can find out about the Creation Museum there. People often ask us how long they should spend at the Ark Encounter or the Creation Museum. We have a three day bouncer ticket to enable them to bounce back and forward between both attractions over a period of three days. And I encourage people, if you're going to come to both, you need at least, three days. Many people find they'd like to spend a couple of days at each attraction. Now it's year round. certainly the lowest months of January and February gets pretty cold. but we have some different things throughout the year. The busiest time of course is from Memorial Day weekend Through to Labor Day weekend. That's the busiest, time. And the busiest days are, Saturday. so if people come midweek or Mondays, Tuesdays, it's usually, a lower time. Right now we're getting even, during the week, 5,000 people a day. And on Saturdays we can get anywhere from 8, 9, 10, 11,000. It depends on the day. And that's just at the ARCA counter alone. So, people do pour in here. so if people wanted a lower time to come, something like, September, October, but then we have Christmas programs. And so, from Thanksgiving through to early January, we have spectacular lights and all sorts of Christmas programs. And then we offer other programs like Logos Theater productions, doing, the lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at our big, theater here. that'll happen late, December, early January, so people can find out all the different things we do throughout the year from arkencounter.com including our, 40 days of Christian Music Festival, biggest Christian music festival in the world from the end of July through to early September. So lots of fun things happening every day at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum.

Rick Green: It's all about worldview training, not only the next generation
Rick Green Welcome back. Thanks for staying with us here on at the Core with Marc Green. Every green American. Scott. Actually got that backwards as I was going to the break. We're going to have Eric Hovind first and then Dr. Tim Clarey Eric, thanks for joining us today, man. Appreciate you coming on.
Rick Green Rick, thanks for having me. I love your show. You guys do such a great job updating everybody on what's going on. You guys are my go to people for what's really happening in the world today.
Rick Green Well, we are, we are definitely rowing the same direction. And it's all about worldview and training, not only the next generation. I used to always say the next generation, as John Jay said, the rising generation. But frankly, it's our generation too, our parents generation. We need to educate everybody on these things. And if we don't get the creation piece of this right, the worldview falls apart after that. So thank you for what you do and, just thrilled to have you on.
100 year anniversary of Scopes trial on evolution
And, a lot of people Talking about the 100 year mark on the Scopes trial. And I, frankly need a refresher, man. I don't remember we talked about it a little bit on the program last week or week before, I can't remember, but, I, don't remember the specifics of the case. So give us us kind of a history lesson first and then what do we do today to do a better job of teaching this issue to our kids?
Rick Green Yeah, we are at the tail end of, a 100 year social experiment in America, watching what's happened since, really the Scopes trial, it was called the trial of the century for a reason. 1925, Tennessee passed a law called the Butler act. And they said, listen, you're allowed to teach science. We love science. But there was a Specific textbook that was teaching, teaching that humans evolve from animals. And they were like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. If we just evolve from animals, that's got some serious implications. We don't want our kids learning that they're nothing but an animal. So they passed a law. And their law basically said, you're not allowed to teach that we evolved from a lower life form, and just an animal. And what's interesting, in the civics, the textbook used in Tennessee, a civic biology book, it taught that there were five races of man and that the higher or the most evolved race was the Caucasians.
Rick Green Wow.
Rick Green Nothing says progressive like ranking humans by our skin tone and calling it biology. Huh?
Rick Green Right, right. Oh my goodness. And people want to champion this today, not knowing what it actually did. Yeah, yeah.
Rick Green So the, the, the law was passed. You can't teach this. The aclu, which of course is the American Communist lawyers union, they wanted to challenge this law. They actually found the guy, they put out an ad. They wanted somebody, a entrepreneur in Tennessee, found John Scopes, who is actually just a gym teacher and had never taught evolution, to be willing to say, I taught evolution so that a lawsuit would come out so that the ACLU could challenge this law. But the real goal, the real goal was to try to put God on trial.
Rick Green They basically created this scenario.
Ken Ham They did.
Rick Green It's a completely manufactured scenario. John Scopes, later in his life, in his memoirs, who lived, he lived a very private life. But he said, I never really taught evolution. That never really happened. We just wanted something to challenge it.
Rick Green Wow.
Rick Green And then enters, of course, the protagonist and the antagonist, William Jennings Bryant, three time presidential candidate, the spokesman for 30 years. I mean, he was able to charge in today's currency $45,000 per speech. Now, nobody know about you, Rick, but I'm not there yet, okay?
Ken Ham I'm not.
Rick Green I'm like, hey, if anybody wants to pay that, well, Eric and I will split it. We'll do a twofer if anybody wants to do that.
Rick Green Exactly. Man. So it goes on trial. Obviously Scopus is found guilty. If he really did teach evolution. Tennessee was like, we do not want this. However, with the transatlantic cable and everything that just going on with getting live reporting out to the world what they really did in media. This is the beginning of fake news right here. Here they use this trial in order to twist it and make it seem like it's about God and how religion is anti science and how people who are religious are backwards. And this is where that got started. Even though nothing could be further from.
Rick Green The Truth, Yeah, that even. I mean, even I think I'm a fairly educated guy. But honestly, as soon as you say Scopes trial, my association to that based on the narrative, for most of my life is, oh, yeah, that's where they made us look like idiots. That's where they managed to make Christians look like they're anti science or they're not willing to study science or whatever it might be even to this day. That's the immediate what conjures up in my mind.
Rick Green And it was kind of a cheeky move because the antagonist, Darrow, he actually put William Jennings Bryant on the stand, which, which, how do you put the other lawyer on the stand as your witness? Like, that's crazy that he even did it. And then he pulled a cheeky little move. He goes, you know what? After asking him all these questions. And Bryant did not do a great job at answering the questions on science or on the biblical worldview based on a biblical worldview. Didn't do a good job with that. Darrow said, hey, you know what? We're going to change it to a guilty verdict. I'm going to waive my closing, argument. Therefore, Bryant couldn't give a closing argument argument. And Bryant could never go really challenge Darrow, on his ideas of atheism. So Darrow asks all these antagonistic questions to Bryant, makes Christianity look bad when Bryant doesn't give good answers, and then says, hey, I don't want a closing argument. And legally, that made it where now Bryant couldn't even challenge Darrow in his thinking, in his atheism, in his evolution. The evidence presented and, and every piece of evidence, Rick, that Darrow gave as evidence, revolution. I mean, he had the experts lined up. The judge didn't allow it into the courtroom. But we know from history what they were going to say. Every piece of evidence, vestigial organs and all that has been debunked by science, by real science.
Rick Green I didn't realize this part. So Brian was not prepared. I mean, even somebody that highly paid, that highly respected, was not ready to give an answer as we're commanded to do. I mean, I didn't realize that part. And so, frankly, I'm guilty of that. If you were to bring some of these arguments to me, I don't think I'd be ready to. I know I wouldn't be ready like you are. and here I am, live, breathing, eat this stuff. Imagine how little prepared, not only the kids of today and the high schoolers that have to go into the hostile environment of A college campus or whatever it might be. And they're challenged on these things. Things, let alone parents and pastors. We're not ready for this stuff.
Rick Green That's exactly right. And that's what I see. I've been traveling and speaking for 25 years now. Rick and I go to schools, colleges and churches and camps. Young people today, old people today are not ready. They still teach some Sunday school style of. Well, you just have to have blind faith.
Rick Barton: Science is helping give us exactly that we can trust
I know the science says this. You just got to have blind faith. We're just going to trust it, even though it's probably not true. And it's like, that's not what God has given us. Yeah, he wants us to have a sound mind and reasoned, rational defense for why we believe what we believe. And let me tell you, Rick, science is helping give us exactly that we can trust. The word of God is absolutely true. No doubt about it.
Rick Green I love that you said that because power, love and a sound mind, we talk about that all the time around here and try to explain. You know, sound mind means you gotta, it's not just a good feeling. You need to do the homework so that you've got the, the intellectual, strength and stability and the fact that, you know, you can back up what you're saying, that it's not just, you know, hitting people over the head with the Bible, but actually showing that the Bible, you know, was way ahead of us on a lot of the scientific discoveries that we didn't find till later. And that's what you do. I mean, you make it, and you make it fun for people to learn these things. I just hope that as people talk about this 100 years later, that there's a rebirth of a hunger to want to learn. Right, to want to study these things.
Rick Green Absolutely. I mean, look at the social experiment now, 100 years later. Bryant's entire problem. I, mean, here he is, three time presidential candidate, Secretary of State. He's going, if we tell kids they're nothing but an animal, they'll act like animals. Rick, how are we looking 100 years later?
Rick Green No kidding.
Rick Green I mean, is society a lot better?
Rick Green You watch some of these parades and, it looks like animals in the, in the, in the streets. And, and we actually have kids acting like they're animals. Animals at school saying they're a furry. And, then the school's response to that is, oh, well, then we'll put kitty litter in the bathroom for you. Unbelievable. We're encouraging them to be animals.
Rick Green It's insane what they're doing. Yeah, Absolutely insane. And all the statistics, whether it's divorce or how children behave, what were the problems they were facing in schools back then? Chewing gum, talking in class. What are the problems they're facing today? Pornography, sexual addictions, violent, behavior, drugs, alcohol. Like we are watching 100 years now of them going, hey, maybe we're just an animal. And I gotta tell you, I don't think we should be telling the kids in public school they're just an animal. This is the thought I had when Trump got in office, Rick, and he said, you know, we're gonna say there's only two genders and man, the whole world, Woo.
Rick Green Yay.
Rick Green This is wonderful. There's only two genders. And I'm going, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Rick Green Whoa, whoa, whoa, Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Rick Green You're still telling all the kids they're just an animal. Like, let's celebrate when we stop teaching that because you're not an animal, you're made in the image of God, and that's what gives you value and respect.
Rick Green I'm a simple guy, Eric. I just kind of look at the results and go, okay, did the inputs, did we put garbage in and get garbage out? Do we put good stuff in and get, and get good stuff out? And you just nailed it. I mean, in terms of just looking at the results and where we are as a culture. And honestly, when we talk about people being hungry for this, this is what excites me so much about a Joe Rogan saying, you know, I'll take Jesus over the big bang. Because what he's really saying is, I see the results, I see how crazy things have gotten and how off the rails we are. So there has to be a better way. There has to be some truth out there somewhere that will produce a better society. And that's essentially what guys like you and us are saying is there is absolutely a better, better answer. But we as Christians and Christian leaders have to get better at articulating those answers because we have their attention right now, people. Tim Barton was saying this the other day on our show. He was saying, you know, yes, people are hungry, but that doesn't mean. There doesn't mean like a Joe Rogan has embraced the gospel yet. And now I do hear he's going to church in Austin, at a good church here in, Central Texas. But, it doesn't mean they've embraced it. They're just kind of in that Ben Franklin phase where they're going, okay, you guys make better citizens, you're getting better results. So I Kind of want to know why, but that gives you and me and others an opportunity to make the argument. So how do we get better at making the argument? How do we get better at articulating just these basic worldview concepts of a creator, even?
Rick Green Well, we just need you and Tim and David to get on the, get on the Joe Rogan podcast for three hours and straighten them out. That's what we need.
Rick Green I love that idea. No doubt.

Rick Green: 50% of American churches reject biblical creationism
M. I don't know how much you catch the clips and stuff, but I watched the clip of he and Mel Gibson, and Gibson did a pretty good job on the apologetic stuff. But when he, when he asked him, I can't remember what the question was, and it might have even been in this lane, and Gibson was. Was wise enough to say, you know what, Joe? I don't know the answer to that. I can't, I can't answer that one. You know, but I have enough faith in these other areas, yada, yada, yada. Great time to say, you know what, Joe? I don't know the answer to that one, but let me phone a friend. Hey, Eric, help me out here. I do that with Barton all the time when I'm at events. I'll be like, okay, you stumped me on that. Let me phone a friend. I got David on speed dial.
Rick Green I love it. I love it. Well, bottom line is God does tell us to be prepared.
Rick Green Hey, what is a good place to start, though? Because you put out a lot of great courses, materials, conferences. What would you say to somebody listening today going, you know what? I'm feeling a little guilty here. Feel a little conviction. I can't answer a lot of those types of questions. Where do I start?
Rick Green You know, I love our Creation Today show. It's free to watch@, creationtoday.org I've had over 400 episodes and I bring on every one week an expert in science or in scripture so we can watch and learn how God's word and God's world meld together and they actually go together in a world that's going to tell your kids. 80% of the kids that grow up in Christian homes will reject Christianity after one year of college. And I want them to know, no. God's word and God's world go together. Science and scripture are hand in glove. We are talking to the great Creator of the universe. And we can learn the mind of God through his creation, which is what all the sciences have done. So I love the Creation Today show. It's on podcast, it's on television stations around the world. It's [email protected], it's on. Lots of different people carry it. But man, that show to me, because you have so many experts coming in and I get, it's my little discipleship time to talk to these guys is what it is. I mean, we're talking about why chromosome atom and mitochondrial Eve and how all the human race, all 8 billion people on the planet, can be traced back to one man and one woman scientifically. And it adds up to what the Bible says. I mean, we're talking to guys about Noah's flood and the geology of the world today. And they're pointing out, I got to go on a Grand canyon trip with Dr. Andrew Snelling and did a whole show on this. You go down and you see Monument fold where all 1 mile of strata is bent at a 90 degree angle showing it had to bend while all the layers were soft sediment. They were not turned to stone because there's no cracks in the them. It's not metamorphized. So anyway, we go into the science and the scripture to show, look, you can really trust God's word. It's both, scripturally, it's historically accurate and it's scientifically accurate. You really can believe in a six day creation account. That's one of the things that Bryant waffled on and said he wasn't sure. And you really can believe that now, Rick, 50% of churches in America won't stand on that and they'll embrace some kind of old earth creation or theistic evolution. Maybe God used evolution, salvation. And those bring huge theological problems for the Bible. Now you can get saved without believing in a literal Genesis, but you cannot account for the need for salvation. Why did Christ die on the cross to pay the penalty of sin, which is death. Unless you stand on the literal interpretation of Genesis 1:11, it really happened that way. And you really don't have to believe in a theory that's never even been proven right like evolution and get rid of a book that's never been proven wrong. You really can't trust this.
Rick Green And then just the discipleship factor, right, in terms of application of everything else in the book. So if you get that part right, it's a whole lot easier to deal with what we would consider to be tough issues of today where people don't want to take a stand. Part of the reason they don't want to take a stand is because they don't feel like they're on solid ground. They don't, you know. Anyway, it all goes back to this right here. I was just looking at your website and accessing the show so Creation today and then booking you to speak. Now, I'm just going to guess you said a little less than 45,000 per speech, right? Just a little less.

Ken Tim Clary: We're doing better job at apologetics
Rick Green Welcome back at the Core. Thanks for staying with us today. Our final interview of the day, Dr. Tim Clary, for the Institute, for Creation Research and part of the reason I like highlighting all of these organizations at once and we're only hidden three of them. There's others out there as well. But it's just a reminder of how far we've come at doing a better job at our apologetics, being ready to answer how far we've come in terms of having leadership and good communicators and good programs in every area of the culture. Whether here we have in science and the faith and then of course in entertainment and movies and television and music and m Politics and government. I mean you pick the area of the culture. We're just, we're doing a better job than we, we have done in my lifetime and there's just a lot of things coming together. So this is kind of a cool, I think, opportunity to specifically highlight this particular area and, and make sure that we know that every single one of us need to be better prepared to answer on these issues. ICR is doing a dinosaur dig out of eastern Montana this summer
Rick Green So you guys, I didn't know you had a big dig going out. And were you in Montana? I forget where it is now. Watch the video.
Jeff Chamblee Well, it's out of eastern Montana, near a town called Glendive. So you're almost in North Dakota, but it's out in the, in the Hell Creek formation, which is famous for its T. Rexes and other, you know, so called Cretaceous dinosaurs that were buried at that level in the flood. But we did this last year too. But this, you know, I didn't go last year but ICR did it and this is the second year we're doing this and we still need I think two people to fill two more spots to fill it out.
Rick Green But how long will this go? Like how long will you be doing the dead? Or is that unknown because you're just.
Jeff Chamblee No, well, actually they, I think the program goes from the August 13th, August 16th of this year. And so there's a couple, you know, several days of digging. There's some talks to kind of get people ready and a few things to give you some background information. But a lot of it's you know, you get, get out there and dig and the temperatures, you know, could be 90 degrees, 100 degrees, but it's, it's a little dry heat as they say at that time of year. But it's, it's not bad. It's a, it's a good time. I mean you get a chance to find some bones. I mean everybody's going to find some bones. So.

Jeff Chamblee Yeah, Yep. I would go to ICR.org even before that. We actually have a, my, some of us are going out to Chattanooga, Tennessee. We're doing a scopes trial, thing, in Chattanooga, Tennessee August 6th through the 10th. So just before that I'll be in Chattanooga with some of our science staff, going over the hundredth anniversary of the whole, you know, the monkey trial as they say.
Rick Green Say, oh wait, we got, we got to come back to that.
This is going to be my first time to dig with icr
But let me, let me, let me wrap on the, on the dig first just to make sure everybody understands. So this is a chance because when I, what I saw in the video, I mean it's people of all ages. You had young, young ones out there, people my age. So I mean you had people out there that for them it's a chance to, to. Even if they've never done anything right, you don't have to have any experience in this.
Jeff Chamblee No, not at all. They'll teach you what to do. They'll give you the tools to do it. I mean you just kind of show up, you know, in your little field gear where lots of sunscreen, screen and they, they provide the, you know, all the resources, water, you know, lunches, everything. I. I believe, and so they'll take care of. Good, good care of you. I've done many digs, you know, but this is going to be my first time to dig with icr. it's gonna. It's gonna be a fun experience, learning for everybody from, you know, age, young ages, all the way up to 100 years old. so it's like, we could. We could. It's not, you know, you're not really working too physically hard, but you're having a great time because you're finding bones that have been buried there for thousands of years, and you're the first person to see you.
Rick Green Wow. Very cool. Very cool.
There's an opportunity for people to question what they've been taught
Okay, so. So now let's fast forward to and. And again, folks, if you want to sign up for that, ICR.org is the website ICR.org you were saying that you guys are actually going out there. Is it. Is it going to be almost like a recreation of the trial? What are y' all gonna do?
Jeff Chamblee Well, no, we're just going to talk about it a lot. You know, there's going to be talks, different people are coming out speaking.
Rick Green Some.
Jeff Chamblee There's going to be some legal people talking about the, you know, the legal ramifications of the Scopes trial in Chattanooga. And we're going to be at a church, I think, out there that's also on our website, iscr.org, you can look up the hundred years of monkey business, it's called, basically. And so we're going to give a lot of talks and we're going to push back against. You know, they complained about the geology in my field. They complained that the geology showed the rocks are old, but the rocks don't show how old they are. Rocks are interpreted to be old. And, even the radioactive dating is an interpretation because you can't go back in time and actually verify these things. So there's a lot of things we're going to push back on in my field. I'm going to push back on the geology. What was said at the trial, they basically convinced people that Earth is old. You know, they kind of made that sound, because at that point, scientists are starting to push that agenda. And so the Earth was becoming billions of years old. And of course, now the mainstream Science claims it's 4.5 billion years old and all these wrecks are hundreds of millions of years old. But when you look at the evidence, the evidence stacks up that the Earth is young, the rocks are young, There was a global flood that produced most of our sediments filled with fossils all over the earth.
Rick Green I'm wondering if there's not just a really great opportunity right now for people to revisit this subject because of, with COVID and the last four years and how much the supposed experts lied to us and got everything wrong. And, and because you're right, it's like everybody just bought the lie. And so they've assumed that that science was settled, quote, unquote, science was solid, all this, the carbon dating, I mean, all of that. Everybody was taught that for so many years in school as fact, without any questioning. But now there seems to be more of a willingness to say, you know what, maybe the experts aren't so expert. I need to do my own research and start studying these things. is that kind of what you're feeling as well in terms of an open opportunity here?
Jeff Chamblee I think so. I thought that same thing, and I talked to some audiences about that. I think people are more skeptical now. They realize that science has been saying this and this and this, this. And with the whole Covid thing, they're realizing maybe science got it wrong. Maybe they're not telling us the whole story or telling us even the truth. And so I think there's a lot more people out there that are kind of hungry for, okay, what is the truth? and we go back to, you know, we stand at the Bible as truth, but science is a way to confirm the Bible. So I think there's a lot more people that. Because the skepticism that was brought, on by Covid, where we realized we were lied to, you know, do masks or no masks. And all this has opened an opportunity for people to really question what they've been taught.
Rick Green And all we're asking really is for them to, like you said, question and research and do the study. and what an opportunity. And I think a lot of our listeners may not be aware, they can come to the museum anytime, come do a tour, do some homework. Right there. You're right. And for not just people in the DFW area, you fly in, you're right in between Love Field and, And, dfw, so people can fly in and, and, go visit the museum. Is that a. You guys, do you, do you, do you kind of recommend that as a one day thing? Is that a several day thing? What do y' all recommend there?
Jeff Chamblee Well, I think it's pretty much a one day thing. You can, you can probably do the whole thing thoroughly in, in several hours, three hours, maybe. In a planetarium show as well, throwing in there. so. And it's fairly affordable compared to a lot of museums out there that, you know, we keep the prices as low as we possibly can. so a lot of people, it's maybe a half day thing where you could come in. We're Open I think 10 to 5 if you're a member. If you sign up for an annual membership you get a little earlier. But it's, it's, it's a one day thing or at the most, I would say that not 10 out of two day thing, but it's really spectacular because it does show there's a lot of science that supports the young Earth, a lot of science that supports the Bible and that there really was a flood and all these catastrophes like Mount St. Helens. You really bring that into light. And so there's a lot of really interesting things to see in our Discovery center here at ICR. So if you look up ICR.org again as you mentioned, look at the Discovery center, it's open Tuesday through Saturday most days, occasionally some holidays as well. And so just check the website ICR.org.
Rick Green ICR.org and for those that can't necessarily travel in, you guys have curriculum and kids books and all kinds of great stuff for people to get ahold of as well, just to begin that education at home. And you know that whole be ready to answer thing, we haven't done that well. And I'm so thankful for y' all and what you're doing and the helping to get people ready to answer and for us to raise our kids, to be able to know these things. We lose so many kids from the faith because we don't equip them for these questions and especially in this area. And they go off to college and they're made to feel like fools because they don't have this information. So what a great opportunity to get equipped. I see all the.
Jeff Chamblee That'S how a lot of our science staff, we all went to the, you know, public schools. We heard all the millions of years, billions of years. We had all the evolution, but we had resources from Henry Morris, our founder and other people that work for ICR and other Christian creationist organizations. They kind of kept us, you know, knowing that there's another side of the story here we're not being told. And that's one of the biggest things. They teach you one thing only they don't teach. You know, they'll say like here's these two layers you can see, like in Grand Canyon, they're separated by 160 million years. You can put your hand on both. Isn't that cool? But nobody asks, why is there no erosion between those layers? Why aren't there river valleys and gullies and stuff if it's been sitting around for 160 million years? Those kinds of things aren't asked in the classroom setting. They're just. You just talk, talk, talk, you know, accept, accept, accept. But as we mentioned, the skepticism now amongst the general public, I think I is getting people to ask a few more questions and getting people to think about things, not just accept things.
Rick Green What they, what they're told, which is healthy, healthy, healthy. And, hopefully we get a lot more of it. Dr. Car. God bless you guys. We have not countered the left's efforts in taking the culture
Icr.org Just a wealth of information today, man. I really appreciate, all three of our guests today. I hope you've learned a lot about this particular issue. At the very least, learned where to go get information to learn more about this particular particular issue. And as I was saying, the top of this particular segment for the day, we're getting better at this. I don't think we're there yet. We have not countered the left's efforts in taking the culture. So we often use the term culture war. Well, the culture war was waging only from one side for decades and decades and decades. I mean, the left has been at this since the 19 teens and 20s is when they really got started. And they had, have essentially conquered every area of the culture. If you think about it, in the last decade, we've seen a, nearly complete domination of the sciences, certainly of the arts. I mean, from the Kennedy center and the debacle there. Even now with the Republican administration, a Republican appointee heading up the Kennedy center, firing my friend Floyd Brown simply because of his position on traditional marriage. That was most people on the planet's position until 15 minutes ago. so from the arts, from the Kennedy center to of course, Hollywood being so overtaken by the left, which used to be a machine for reinforcing America's values. If you think about the movies of the 40s and 50s and 60s, even, Cecil B. DeMille and Ten Commandments and Ben Hur and even television programs reinforced, the values of the country. And now, of course, you know, 90% tearing down those values. So the arts, you know, the left owns the arts, they own, the entertainment, they own the media and most of the major networks and news sources and half the pulpits in America and the boardrooms of corporate America. In business, I mean, you just go down the list and I don't say that to depress you at all. I mean, I think it's just we have to assess the patient and recognize that's where the culture is. I say that to point out they worked really hard to get there. The left scratched and clawed in the trenches in the culture war while we did nothing, almost nothing. I mean, American Family association exists because Don Wildmon saw this decades before most people and said, we've got to do something to stop this. What Robert Bork would say just a few years later, after the beginning of American Family association, the slouch towards Gomorrah. And that's, you know, if it weren't for guys like Don Wildmon and Jerry Falwell and David Barton and D. James Kennedy and these other great warriors that said, you know, listen, we've got to engage in this. We have to actually get off our couches, get outside the four walls of our churches and get into these areas of the culture to wage war, to wage culture war, not physical war. All those, you know, people that, you know, all these left wing organizations that listen to us and take our words out of context, it's metaphorically speaking to essentially stand for what we believe to counter the arguments of what these people have done in every one of these areas.
Walker Wildmon: Culture wars are necessary to win the culture
All right, so I say all that to say that now we're doing better, Much, much better. What we've highlighted today, three examples of incredible organizations that have done the hard work, raised significant money to do what they've done. I mean, Ken Ham, first class at the Creation Museum at. I mean, just unbelievable how well they've done those things. Eric Hovind and just the quality of the production and the programming that they're doing, ICR and doing the digs and putting out the white papers and the information. I mean, these are necessary to win the culture. And then you look at the political side of things and you look at the organizations that exist now. I mean, when Patriot Academy started, started 25 years ago, there's virtually no one in the space doing what we're doing and still no one that does it quite like we do it in terms of training leadership and training people of all ages and all professions to be better citizens. Actually putting them in the legislative simulation where they can experience how constitutional republic works and then Teaching the Constitution in a fun, entertaining way and teaching people how to be good biblical citizens. So we've got that down really well. We've cracked the code on how to do that effectively, and you should be a part of it if you're not already. Patriotacademy.com, go check that out. But then also over in entertainment and what we're seeing with what Vidangel has done and these many others that are doing good production and putting out some great material. And then in journalism, trying to. Just yesterday we had Laura Logan with us at the Patriot Academy campus, and she was teaching on this very thing. How we've got to revive actual journalism and investigative journalism. so anyway, we could cover every area of the culture. It's getting, getting better in terms of our. Started to say our defenses, but that's the problem. We were on defense for too long. Our offense, our ability to play offense in the culture war, actually taking ground back. And then of course, with President Trump in the White House, it's a tremendous opportunity to do exactly that. It's the reason I, I emphasize here on the program so much. Defending Creation on The Core today
Welcome to the Core with Walker Wildmon and Rick Green. I'm Rick Green, America's Constitution coach. Thanks for joining us today. And I've got some power packed interviews for you today, all on the same subject. We're going to defend creation today. you know, we fight all these political battles, we deal with education, we're doing everything we can to bring back the foundations of the country that made America great in the first place. And we know that America's very system, defined and described in the Declaration of Independence, depends upon, we hold these truths, that there are absolute truths, and that we're endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights. Now think about that. So if there's a Creator in the Declaration of Independence, and yet you teach your children and your nation that there is no Creator, that we're just blind luck. Big Bang came, from slime, however else you want to describe it, then it undermines the entire system. Not only does it undermine your worldview, not only do you start in the very wrong place and then your trajectory of your life ends up in the wrong place. Your philosophy, all of it. But as a nation, the culture, the whole idea of right and wrong, of the rule of law, of all of the things that made America great, you lose all of that if you lose the creator. So if you take the creator out of the equation, then your freedom comes from your neighbors, it comes from government. If there's no creator in the equation, then it's back to the law of the tiger and the shark. It's whoever's strongest. It's whoever can wrestle away the rights of other people or bring themselves to power through brute force. So it's essential that we get this piece right, the creator piece. Right. If we want to have life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, we have to get back to the idea that we're endowed by our Creator. And so today, some special guests we're going to be talking to about this. There are several great organizations out there that defend these ideas and teach apologetics and teach people how to defend the faith. And so we just want to highlight some of those folks today and just get some good reminders for ourselves. Plus, there's some special events coming up from these organizations that we want to let you know about.
Ken Ham says the Ark and Creation Museum are two leading Christian themed attractions
First up today, Ken Ham back with us. Always good to have you, sir, and excited to tell people before the summer's over to get out there to see the Ark and the Creation Museum. Appreciate you coming on, Ken.
Ken Ham Hey, thanks, Rick. Yeah, I mean the Ark and the Creation Museum are the two leading Christian themed attractions in the world. And by the way, the Ark is the biggest themed attraction in the state of Kentucky. So, people come from all over to, see the Ark and the Creation Museum.
Rick Green Well, we tell everybody to go, we absolutely love it. There's nothing like it. I mean, there's no. I tell everybody, Ginham does it first class. He does it right. When you go in there, you're going to learn. And it's amazing. There's just, I never expected the first time I went, I don't know, five, six, seven years ago, I did not expect, just how it comes to life. You know, I thought, okay, we're going to go through and it's going to be static or whatever. I mean all the animatronics or whatever you call it, it just feels like you've stepped back and you actually walked onto the Ark. it's unlike anything. There is. No, there's no attraction like it. certainly not a one with the biblical truth.
Ken Ham Well, no, there's not. And you know, the Ark is the biggest freestanding timber frame m structure in the world. It's actually an architectural marvel and some people say it should be classed in the seven wonders of the modern world. but, it is a life size Noah's Ark, 1 1/2 times the length of a football field, half the width of a football field, and it's built 15ft off the ground, stands 10 stories high at the bow end, has three decks with 130 different exhibits answering all sorts of questions, that people have. And people come from all over the world. We get about a million, people a year. Actually, since the Creation museum opened in 2000 and the Ark opened in 2016, we've had, upwards of 15 million people come and visit now. And people tell us, they just rave over it because it's every bit the quality you'd expect from Disney or Universal Studios. After all, Rick, if we're on about the truth of God's word and we're on about the gospel, shouldn't we have the best quality possible because we're on about the most important message in the entire universe.
Rick Green Yeah. And he said, you know, in Colossians, everything you do, you do the best that you can, as unto God, not unto men. And that's what you've done. I mean, you've made it, incredible. And I remember you telling me years ago how I forget the numbers, but a significant number of those people that have come to see it were not Christians. These are people that are just curious.
Ken Ham Yeah. In fact, our, ah, research, we've done research over and over again, thousands and thousands of responses. So it's very valid research. it shows us that about 30% of those who come are not Christian. I mean, I've been here and I've seen Sikhs and Buddhists and Orthodox Muslims, Orthodox Jews, Amish, Mennonite. There's even Baptists, Presbyterian, Catholic nuns, priests. I mean, it's a whole range of people. And when you come here, people from different ethnic backgrounds, different skin shades, eye shapes, it's a mix you would never see in church. And I'll tell you what, too, we have done consistent research year after year which indicates, very strongly that about 7% of those who come to the ark say they have become Christians as a result. Do you realize that would be about 70,000 people a year and about 25,000 people at the Creation Museum. In other words, close to 100,000 people a year become Christians because of the attractions. I mean, that is absolutely significant. And that's just the attractions alone, let alone everything else we do as a ministry.
Rick Green Yeah, let alone the curriculum and how many millions you reach through media, appearances and all the different things that you guys are doing.
Ken Ham: Genesis answers fundamental question that keeps many from coming to faith
and I think Ken, too, part of what I wanted to talk to you about is why that happens, because it answers that fundamental question that keeps so many from coming to faith. They've been lied to about the origin. And if you don't get the origin right, everything else falls apart downstream. And so you're attacking that thing first question mark and that first lie that they've been given and you're doing it in an entertaining, effective way. And I think that's why you see so many conversions. But what do you think?
Ken Ham Oh yeah, absolutely. You know, when you look at scripture in Genesis 3, the first attack was on the authority of the word of God. When the devil came to Eve and said, did God really say? Did God actually say? And that was to create doubt to lead to unbelief. And in the New Testament the apostle Paul tells us, that in fact it's a warning in 2 Corinthians, the devil's going to use the same method on you as he did on Eve to get you to position of unbelief. And what is that method he uses to get you to doubt and not believe the word of God? You know, we've had generations come through a secular, which means anti God education system devoid of the knowledge of God. They've been taught naturalistic evolution, which is really atheism as fact. And they think that the Bible can't be trusted and the Bible is not true. And 80, 85% of kids from church homes go to the anti God secular education system and many of them end up leaving the chur because they think the Bible can't be trusted. And the emphasis that we bring is one of apologetics and biblical WorldView by Apologetics First Peter 3, 15. Always be prepared to give an answer for what you believe. In other words, you have to give answers to the attacks on God's word, be able to defend the Christian faith like it says in Jude, contend for the faith. And so the questions that people have and what the atheists have said, oh, Noah's Ark can't be true. He couldn't fit all the animals on board, he couldn't look after them anyway. And evolution is true and the fossils were laid down over millions of years, so we have answers to all of those to point people to the truth of God's word. And I've had non Christians tell me we never heard the information we saw in the exhibits at the Ark Encounter or the Creation Museum. And this has really challenged us. And as I said, many do become Christians as a result. And that's what it's all about. And if people ask me, you know, sometimes I've had the secular media say, how would you sum up the message of the Ark and the Creation Museum? And I say it's very simply put this way, the history in the Bible is true, beginning in Genesis. That's why the gospel based in that history is true. And it's true because Genesis, the very first verse in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. If that verse alone is not true, the rest of the Bible is not true. And then Genesis 1:11 gives us an account of the biological, geological, astronomical, anthropological history that's foundational to everything. It's foundational to all our doctrine. It's foundational to the gospel. It's foundational to our, Christian worldview. If you want to deal with any issue, you want to deal with gay marriage or abortion or euthanasia or racism, you have to start from Genesis 1 to 11 and have the right foundational history concerning the creation of man, the entrance of sin and the promise of the Savior and so on. when God made man, he made male and female, two genders only. And that's the first marriage, a man and a woman. And we're made in the image of God. And right from fertilization, we're made in the image of God. So abortion is killing a human being made in the image of God. I mean, Genesis 1:11 is the foundation for everything. We go back to one man and one woman. So we're all one race. There are no different races. So it's the foundation to deal with everything.
Rick Green Everybody eats it because it's not just a non believer that's getting this incredible experience and often, finding this truth and then come to the Lord. But most of the church today, I would argue, can't answer these questions and is ill prepared, not just the kids, but every generation. And so it gives them confidence in their faith and that solid, you know, that ability to respond. And you think of the 18, 19, 20 year old that's going to go into a college classroom and have to defend the faith. And if they don't have this foundation, it falls apart. It's why they, you know, what is it, 80% walk away from the faith when they go to these universities, but also just all of us in our 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, sitting around the, you know, chatting and talking and somebody asks a challenging question and we aren't ready to answer. That's why this is so important what you're doing, Rick.
Ken Ham You know, I have found, look Biblical literacy, illiteracy permeates the church. And so many churches have not taught apologetics, they've not taught people how to defend the faith. And one of the reasons many people don't want to go out and really share their faith or challenge people is because they feel intimidated. Because as soon as they do, they bring up questions or make attacks on the Bible and they don't know how to answer them. But what a difference it makes when they're equipped with those answers. It does give them, just like you said, it gives them that confidence and they become, become more bold in their faith. It makes a big difference. And I've had people tell me that as they go through the Ark and the Creation Museum. They've said, I've learned more here than I have in my whole life in church or even at Bible college or seminary because most Bible colleges and seminaries don't teach the importance of the foundational book of Genesis. Now there are some that do, but they're a minority. And so for many of them, they say, we learned more at the Ark and the Creation Museum than we have done in our whole lives. And wow, it's given me a new confidence to go out and share the.
Rick Green Truth with people that it's, it's phenomenal. It's one of those things when you do it, you never forget it. It's one of those like seminal, like this is a spike moment where you know, you have these epiphanies as you're, as you're walking through there. And is, is, is there a season like when do you guys stop doing or is it year round?
Ken Ham Well Rick, I can down the car. Arkencounter.com is certainly the best website to go to and they can find out about the Creation Museum there. People often ask us how long they should spend at the Ark Encounter or the Creation Museum. We have a three day bouncer ticket to enable them to bounce back and forward between both attractions over a period of three days. And I encourage people, if you're going to come to both, you need at least, three days. Many people find they'd like to spend a couple of days at each attraction. Now it's year round. certainly the lowest months of January and February gets pretty cold. but we have some different things throughout the year. The busiest time of course is from Memorial Day weekend Through to Labor Day weekend. That's the busiest, time. And the busiest days are, Saturday. so if people come midweek or Mondays, Tuesdays, it's usually, a lower time. Right now we're getting even, during the week, 5,000 people a day. And on Saturdays we can get anywhere from 8, 9, 10, 11,000. It depends on the day. And that's just at the ARCA counter alone. So, people do pour in here. so if people wanted a lower time to come, something like, September, October, but then we have Christmas programs. And so, from Thanksgiving through to early January, we have spectacular lights and all sorts of Christmas programs. And then we offer other programs like Logos Theater productions, doing, the lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at our big, theater here. that'll happen late, December, early January, so people can find out all the different things we do throughout the year from arkencounter.com including our, 40 days of Christian Music Festival, biggest Christian music festival in the world from the end of July through to early September. So lots of fun things happening every day at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum.

Rick Green: It's all about worldview training, not only the next generation
Rick Green Welcome back. Thanks for staying with us here on at the Core with Marc Green. Every green American. Scott. Actually got that backwards as I was going to the break. We're going to have Eric Hovind first and then Dr. Tim Clarey Eric, thanks for joining us today, man. Appreciate you coming on.
Rick Green Rick, thanks for having me. I love your show. You guys do such a great job updating everybody on what's going on. You guys are my go to people for what's really happening in the world today.
Rick Green Well, we are, we are definitely rowing the same direction. And it's all about worldview and training, not only the next generation. I used to always say the next generation, as John Jay said, the rising generation. But frankly, it's our generation too, our parents generation. We need to educate everybody on these things. And if we don't get the creation piece of this right, the worldview falls apart after that. So thank you for what you do and, just thrilled to have you on.
100 year anniversary of Scopes trial on evolution
And, a lot of people Talking about the 100 year mark on the Scopes trial. And I, frankly need a refresher, man. I don't remember we talked about it a little bit on the program last week or week before, I can't remember, but, I, don't remember the specifics of the case. So give us us kind of a history lesson first and then what do we do today to do a better job of teaching this issue to our kids?
Rick Green Yeah, we are at the tail end of, a 100 year social experiment in America, watching what's happened since, really the Scopes trial, it was called the trial of the century for a reason. 1925, Tennessee passed a law called the Butler act. And they said, listen, you're allowed to teach science. We love science. But there was a Specific textbook that was teaching, teaching that humans evolve from animals. And they were like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. If we just evolve from animals, that's got some serious implications. We don't want our kids learning that they're nothing but an animal. So they passed a law. And their law basically said, you're not allowed to teach that we evolved from a lower life form, and just an animal. And what's interesting, in the civics, the textbook used in Tennessee, a civic biology book, it taught that there were five races of man and that the higher or the most evolved race was the Caucasians.
Rick Green Wow.
Rick Green Nothing says progressive like ranking humans by our skin tone and calling it biology. Huh?
Rick Green Right, right. Oh my goodness. And people want to champion this today, not knowing what it actually did. Yeah, yeah.
Rick Green So the, the, the law was passed. You can't teach this. The aclu, which of course is the American Communist lawyers union, they wanted to challenge this law. They actually found the guy, they put out an ad. They wanted somebody, a entrepreneur in Tennessee, found John Scopes, who is actually just a gym teacher and had never taught evolution, to be willing to say, I taught evolution so that a lawsuit would come out so that the ACLU could challenge this law. But the real goal, the real goal was to try to put God on trial.
Rick Green They basically created this scenario.
Ken Ham They did.
Rick Green It's a completely manufactured scenario. John Scopes, later in his life, in his memoirs, who lived, he lived a very private life. But he said, I never really taught evolution. That never really happened. We just wanted something to challenge it.
Rick Green Wow.
Rick Green And then enters, of course, the protagonist and the antagonist, William Jennings Bryant, three time presidential candidate, the spokesman for 30 years. I mean, he was able to charge in today's currency $45,000 per speech. Now, nobody know about you, Rick, but I'm not there yet, okay?
Ken Ham I'm not.
Rick Green I'm like, hey, if anybody wants to pay that, well, Eric and I will split it. We'll do a twofer if anybody wants to do that.
Rick Green Exactly. Man. So it goes on trial. Obviously Scopus is found guilty. If he really did teach evolution. Tennessee was like, we do not want this. However, with the transatlantic cable and everything that just going on with getting live reporting out to the world what they really did in media. This is the beginning of fake news right here. Here they use this trial in order to twist it and make it seem like it's about God and how religion is anti science and how people who are religious are backwards. And this is where that got started. Even though nothing could be further from.
Rick Green The Truth, Yeah, that even. I mean, even I think I'm a fairly educated guy. But honestly, as soon as you say Scopes trial, my association to that based on the narrative, for most of my life is, oh, yeah, that's where they made us look like idiots. That's where they managed to make Christians look like they're anti science or they're not willing to study science or whatever it might be even to this day. That's the immediate what conjures up in my mind.
Rick Green And it was kind of a cheeky move because the antagonist, Darrow, he actually put William Jennings Bryant on the stand, which, which, how do you put the other lawyer on the stand as your witness? Like, that's crazy that he even did it. And then he pulled a cheeky little move. He goes, you know what? After asking him all these questions. And Bryant did not do a great job at answering the questions on science or on the biblical worldview based on a biblical worldview. Didn't do a good job with that. Darrow said, hey, you know what? We're going to change it to a guilty verdict. I'm going to waive my closing, argument. Therefore, Bryant couldn't give a closing argument argument. And Bryant could never go really challenge Darrow, on his ideas of atheism. So Darrow asks all these antagonistic questions to Bryant, makes Christianity look bad when Bryant doesn't give good answers, and then says, hey, I don't want a closing argument. And legally, that made it where now Bryant couldn't even challenge Darrow in his thinking, in his atheism, in his evolution. The evidence presented and, and every piece of evidence, Rick, that Darrow gave as evidence, revolution. I mean, he had the experts lined up. The judge didn't allow it into the courtroom. But we know from history what they were going to say. Every piece of evidence, vestigial organs and all that has been debunked by science, by real science.
Rick Green I didn't realize this part. So Brian was not prepared. I mean, even somebody that highly paid, that highly respected, was not ready to give an answer as we're commanded to do. I mean, I didn't realize that part. And so, frankly, I'm guilty of that. If you were to bring some of these arguments to me, I don't think I'd be ready to. I know I wouldn't be ready like you are. and here I am, live, breathing, eat this stuff. Imagine how little prepared, not only the kids of today and the high schoolers that have to go into the hostile environment of A college campus or whatever it might be. And they're challenged on these things. Things, let alone parents and pastors. We're not ready for this stuff.
Rick Green That's exactly right. And that's what I see. I've been traveling and speaking for 25 years now. Rick and I go to schools, colleges and churches and camps. Young people today, old people today are not ready. They still teach some Sunday school style of. Well, you just have to have blind faith.
Rick Barton: Science is helping give us exactly that we can trust
I know the science says this. You just got to have blind faith. We're just going to trust it, even though it's probably not true. And it's like, that's not what God has given us. Yeah, he wants us to have a sound mind and reasoned, rational defense for why we believe what we believe. And let me tell you, Rick, science is helping give us exactly that we can trust. The word of God is absolutely true. No doubt about it.
Rick Green I love that you said that because power, love and a sound mind, we talk about that all the time around here and try to explain. You know, sound mind means you gotta, it's not just a good feeling. You need to do the homework so that you've got the, the intellectual, strength and stability and the fact that, you know, you can back up what you're saying, that it's not just, you know, hitting people over the head with the Bible, but actually showing that the Bible, you know, was way ahead of us on a lot of the scientific discoveries that we didn't find till later. And that's what you do. I mean, you make it, and you make it fun for people to learn these things. I just hope that as people talk about this 100 years later, that there's a rebirth of a hunger to want to learn. Right, to want to study these things.
Rick Green Absolutely. I mean, look at the social experiment now, 100 years later. Bryant's entire problem. I, mean, here he is, three time presidential candidate, Secretary of State. He's going, if we tell kids they're nothing but an animal, they'll act like animals. Rick, how are we looking 100 years later?
Rick Green No kidding.
Rick Green I mean, is society a lot better?
Rick Green You watch some of these parades and, it looks like animals in the, in the, in the streets. And, and we actually have kids acting like they're animals. Animals at school saying they're a furry. And, then the school's response to that is, oh, well, then we'll put kitty litter in the bathroom for you. Unbelievable. We're encouraging them to be animals.
Rick Green It's insane what they're doing. Yeah, Absolutely insane. And all the statistics, whether it's divorce or how children behave, what were the problems they were facing in schools back then? Chewing gum, talking in class. What are the problems they're facing today? Pornography, sexual addictions, violent, behavior, drugs, alcohol. Like we are watching 100 years now of them going, hey, maybe we're just an animal. And I gotta tell you, I don't think we should be telling the kids in public school they're just an animal. This is the thought I had when Trump got in office, Rick, and he said, you know, we're gonna say there's only two genders and man, the whole world, Woo.
Rick Green Yay.
Rick Green This is wonderful. There's only two genders. And I'm going, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Rick Green Whoa, whoa, whoa, Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Rick Green You're still telling all the kids they're just an animal. Like, let's celebrate when we stop teaching that because you're not an animal, you're made in the image of God, and that's what gives you value and respect.
Rick Green I'm a simple guy, Eric. I just kind of look at the results and go, okay, did the inputs, did we put garbage in and get garbage out? Do we put good stuff in and get, and get good stuff out? And you just nailed it. I mean, in terms of just looking at the results and where we are as a culture. And honestly, when we talk about people being hungry for this, this is what excites me so much about a Joe Rogan saying, you know, I'll take Jesus over the big bang. Because what he's really saying is, I see the results, I see how crazy things have gotten and how off the rails we are. So there has to be a better way. There has to be some truth out there somewhere that will produce a better society. And that's essentially what guys like you and us are saying is there is absolutely a better, better answer. But we as Christians and Christian leaders have to get better at articulating those answers because we have their attention right now, people. Tim Barton was saying this the other day on our show. He was saying, you know, yes, people are hungry, but that doesn't mean. There doesn't mean like a Joe Rogan has embraced the gospel yet. And now I do hear he's going to church in Austin, at a good church here in, Central Texas. But, it doesn't mean they've embraced it. They're just kind of in that Ben Franklin phase where they're going, okay, you guys make better citizens, you're getting better results. So I Kind of want to know why, but that gives you and me and others an opportunity to make the argument. So how do we get better at making the argument? How do we get better at articulating just these basic worldview concepts of a creator, even?
Rick Green Well, we just need you and Tim and David to get on the, get on the Joe Rogan podcast for three hours and straighten them out. That's what we need.
Rick Green I love that idea. No doubt.

Rick Green: 50% of American churches reject biblical creationism
M. I don't know how much you catch the clips and stuff, but I watched the clip of he and Mel Gibson, and Gibson did a pretty good job on the apologetic stuff. But when he, when he asked him, I can't remember what the question was, and it might have even been in this lane, and Gibson was. Was wise enough to say, you know what, Joe? I don't know the answer to that. I can't, I can't answer that one. You know, but I have enough faith in these other areas, yada, yada, yada. Great time to say, you know what, Joe? I don't know the answer to that one, but let me phone a friend. Hey, Eric, help me out here. I do that with Barton all the time when I'm at events. I'll be like, okay, you stumped me on that. Let me phone a friend. I got David on speed dial.
Rick Green I love it. I love it. Well, bottom line is God does tell us to be prepared.
Rick Green Hey, what is a good place to start, though? Because you put out a lot of great courses, materials, conferences. What would you say to somebody listening today going, you know what? I'm feeling a little guilty here. Feel a little conviction. I can't answer a lot of those types of questions. Where do I start?
Rick Green You know, I love our Creation Today show. It's free to watch@, creationtoday.org I've had over 400 episodes and I bring on every one week an expert in science or in scripture so we can watch and learn how God's word and God's world meld together and they actually go together in a world that's going to tell your kids. 80% of the kids that grow up in Christian homes will reject Christianity after one year of college. And I want them to know, no. God's word and God's world go together. Science and scripture are hand in glove. We are talking to the great Creator of the universe. And we can learn the mind of God through his creation, which is what all the sciences have done. So I love the Creation Today show. It's on podcast, it's on television stations around the world. It's [email protected], it's on. Lots of different people carry it. But man, that show to me, because you have so many experts coming in and I get, it's my little discipleship time to talk to these guys is what it is. I mean, we're talking about why chromosome atom and mitochondrial Eve and how all the human race, all 8 billion people on the planet, can be traced back to one man and one woman scientifically. And it adds up to what the Bible says. I mean, we're talking to guys about Noah's flood and the geology of the world today. And they're pointing out, I got to go on a Grand canyon trip with Dr. Andrew Snelling and did a whole show on this. You go down and you see Monument fold where all 1 mile of strata is bent at a 90 degree angle showing it had to bend while all the layers were soft sediment. They were not turned to stone because there's no cracks in the them. It's not metamorphized. So anyway, we go into the science and the scripture to show, look, you can really trust God's word. It's both, scripturally, it's historically accurate and it's scientifically accurate. You really can believe in a six day creation account. That's one of the things that Bryant waffled on and said he wasn't sure. And you really can believe that now, Rick, 50% of churches in America won't stand on that and they'll embrace some kind of old earth creation or theistic evolution. Maybe God used evolution, salvation. And those bring huge theological problems for the Bible. Now you can get saved without believing in a literal Genesis, but you cannot account for the need for salvation. Why did Christ die on the cross to pay the penalty of sin, which is death. Unless you stand on the literal interpretation of Genesis 1:11, it really happened that way. And you really don't have to believe in a theory that's never even been proven right like evolution and get rid of a book that's never been proven wrong. You really can't trust this.
Rick Green And then just the discipleship factor, right, in terms of application of everything else in the book. So if you get that part right, it's a whole lot easier to deal with what we would consider to be tough issues of today where people don't want to take a stand. Part of the reason they don't want to take a stand is because they don't feel like they're on solid ground. They don't, you know. Anyway, it all goes back to this right here. I was just looking at your website and accessing the show so Creation today and then booking you to speak. Now, I'm just going to guess you said a little less than 45,000 per speech, right? Just a little less.

Our final interview of the day, Dr. Tim Clary, for the Institute, for Creation Research and part of the reason I like highlighting all of these organizations at once and we're only hidden three of them. There's others out there as well. But it's just a reminder of how far we've come at doing a better job at our apologetics, being ready to answer how far we've come in terms of having leadership and good communicators and good programs in every area of the culture. Whether here we have in science and the faith and then of course in entertainment and movies and television and music and m Politics and government. I mean you pick the area of the culture. We're just, we're doing a better job than we, we have done in my lifetime and there's just a lot of things coming together. So this is kind of a cool, I think, opportunity to specifically highlight this particular area and, and make sure that we know that every single one of us need to be better prepared to answer on these issues. Jeff Chamblee Hey, ah, it's great to be here.
ICR is doing a dinosaur dig out of eastern Montana this summer
Rick Green So you guys, I didn't know you had a big dig going out. And were you in Montana? I forget where it is now. Watch the video.
Jeff Chamblee Well, it's out of eastern Montana, near a town called Glendive. So you're almost in North Dakota, but it's out in the, in the Hell Creek formation, which is famous for its T. Rexes and other, you know, so called Cretaceous dinosaurs that were buried at that level in the flood. But we did this last year too. But this, you know, I didn't go last year but ICR did it and this is the second year we're doing this and we still need I think two people to fill two more spots to fill it out.
Rick Green But how long will this go? Like how long will you be doing the dead? Or is that unknown because you're just.
Jeff Chamblee No, well, actually they, I think the program goes from the August 13th, August 16th of this year. And so there's a couple, you know, several days of digging. There's some talks to kind of get people ready and a few things to give you some background information. But a lot of it's you know, you get, get out there and dig and the temperatures, you know, could be 90 degrees, 100 degrees, but it's, it's a little dry heat as they say at that time of year. But it's, it's not bad. It's a, it's a good time. I mean you get a chance to find some bones. I mean everybody's going to find some bones. So.

Jeff Chamblee Yeah, Yep. I would go to ICR.org even before that. We actually have a, my, some of us are going out to Chattanooga, Tennessee. We're doing a scopes trial, thing, in Chattanooga, Tennessee August 6th through the 10th. So just before that I'll be in Chattanooga with some of our science staff, going over the hundredth anniversary of the whole, you know, the monkey trial as they say.
Rick Green Say, oh wait, we got, we got to come back to that.
This is going to be my first time to dig with icr
But let me, let me, let me wrap on the, on the dig first just to make sure everybody understands. So this is a chance because when I, what I saw in the video, I mean it's people of all ages. You had young, young ones out there, people my age. So I mean you had people out there that for them it's a chance to, to. Even if they've never done anything right, you don't have to have any experience in this.
Jeff Chamblee No, not at all. They'll teach you what to do. They'll give you the tools to do it. I mean you just kind of show up, you know, in your little field gear where lots of sunscreen, screen and they, they provide the, you know, all the resources, water, you know, lunches, everything. I. I believe, and so they'll take care of. Good, good care of you. I've done many digs, you know, but this is going to be my first time to dig with icr. it's gonna. It's gonna be a fun experience, learning for everybody from, you know, age, young ages, all the way up to 100 years old. so it's like, we could. We could. It's not, you know, you're not really working too physically hard, but you're having a great time because you're finding bones that have been buried there for thousands of years, and you're the first person to see you.
Rick Green Wow. Very cool. Very cool.
There's an opportunity for people to question what they've been taught
Okay, so. So now let's fast forward to and. And again, folks, if you want to sign up for that, ICR.org is the website ICR.org you were saying that you guys are actually going out there. Is it. Is it going to be almost like a recreation of the trial? What are y' all gonna do?
Jeff Chamblee Well, no, we're just going to talk about it a lot. You know, there's going to be talks, different people are coming out speaking.
Rick Green Some.
Jeff Chamblee There's going to be some legal people talking about the, you know, the legal ramifications of the Scopes trial in Chattanooga. And we're going to be at a church, I think, out there that's also on our website, iscr.org, you can look up the hundred years of monkey business, it's called, basically. And so we're going to give a lot of talks and we're going to push back against. You know, they complained about the geology in my field. They complained that the geology showed the rocks are old, but the rocks don't show how old they are. Rocks are interpreted to be old. And, even the radioactive dating is an interpretation because you can't go back in time and actually verify these things. So there's a lot of things we're going to push back on in my field. I'm going to push back on the geology. What was said at the trial, they basically convinced people that Earth is old. You know, they kind of made that sound, because at that point, scientists are starting to push that agenda. And so the Earth was becoming billions of years old. And of course, now the mainstream Science claims it's 4.5 billion years old and all these wrecks are hundreds of millions of years old. But when you look at the evidence, the evidence stacks up that the Earth is young, the rocks are young, There was a global flood that produced most of our sediments filled with fossils all over the earth.
Rick Green I'm wondering if there's not just a really great opportunity right now for people to revisit this subject because of, with COVID and the last four years and how much the supposed experts lied to us and got everything wrong. And, and because you're right, it's like everybody just bought the lie. And so they've assumed that that science was settled, quote, unquote, science was solid, all this, the carbon dating, I mean, all of that. Everybody was taught that for so many years in school as fact, without any questioning. But now there seems to be more of a willingness to say, you know what, maybe the experts aren't so expert. I need to do my own research and start studying these things. is that kind of what you're feeling as well in terms of an open opportunity here?
Jeff Chamblee I think so. I thought that same thing, and I talked to some audiences about that. I think people are more skeptical now. They realize that science has been saying this and this and this, this. And with the whole Covid thing, they're realizing maybe science got it wrong. Maybe they're not telling us the whole story or telling us even the truth. And so I think there's a lot more people out there that are kind of hungry for, okay, what is the truth? and we go back to, you know, we stand at the Bible as truth, but science is a way to confirm the Bible. So I think there's a lot more people that. Because the skepticism that was brought, on by Covid, where we realized we were lied to, you know, do masks or no masks. And all this has opened an opportunity for people to really question what they've been taught.
Rick Green And all we're asking really is for them to, like you said, question and research and do the study. and what an opportunity. And I think a lot of our listeners may not be aware, they can come to the museum anytime, come do a tour, do some homework. Right there. You're right. And for not just people in the DFW area, you fly in, you're right in between Love Field and, And, dfw, so people can fly in and, and, go visit the museum. Is that a. You guys, do you, do you, do you kind of recommend that as a one day thing? Is that a several day thing? What do y' all recommend there?
Jeff Chamblee Well, I think it's pretty much a one day thing. You can, you can probably do the whole thing thoroughly in, in several hours, three hours, maybe. In a planetarium show as well, throwing in there. so. And it's fairly affordable compared to a lot of museums out there that, you know, we keep the prices as low as we possibly can. so a lot of people, it's maybe a half day thing where you could come in. We're Open I think 10 to 5 if you're a member. If you sign up for an annual membership you get a little earlier. But it's, it's, it's a one day thing or at the most, I would say that not 10 out of two day thing, but it's really spectacular because it does show there's a lot of science that supports the young Earth, a lot of science that supports the Bible and that there really was a flood and all these catastrophes like Mount St. Helens. You really bring that into light. And so there's a lot of really interesting things to see in our Discovery center here at ICR. So if you look up ICR.org again as you mentioned, look at the Discovery center, it's open Tuesday through Saturday most days, occasionally some holidays as well. And so just check the website ICR.org.
Rick Green ICR.org and for those that can't necessarily travel in, you guys have curriculum and kids books and all kinds of great stuff for people to get ahold of as well, just to begin that education at home. And you know that whole be ready to answer thing, we haven't done that well. And I'm so thankful for y' all and what you're doing and the helping to get people ready to answer and for us to raise our kids, to be able to know these things. We lose so many kids from the faith because we don't equip them for these questions and especially in this area. And they go off to college and they're made to feel like fools because they don't have this information. So what a great opportunity to get equipped. I see all the.
Jeff Chamblee That'S how a lot of our science staff, we all went to the, you know, public schools. We heard all the millions of years, billions of years. We had all the evolution, but we had resources from Henry Morris, our founder and other people that work for ICR and other Christian creationist organizations. They kind of kept us, you know, knowing that there's another side of the story here we're not being told. And that's one of the biggest things. They teach you one thing only they don't teach. You know, they'll say like here's these two layers you can see, like in Grand Canyon, they're separated by 160 million years. You can put your hand on both. Isn't that cool? But nobody asks, why is there no erosion between those layers? Why aren't there river valleys and gullies and stuff if it's been sitting around for 160 million years? Those kinds of things aren't asked in the classroom setting. They're just. You just talk, talk, talk, you know, accept, accept, accept. But as we mentioned, the skepticism now amongst the general public, I think I is getting people to ask a few more questions and getting people to think about things, not just accept things.
Rick Green What they, what they're told, which is healthy, healthy, healthy. And, hopefully we get a lot more of it. Dr. Car. God bless you guys. We have not countered the left's efforts in taking the culture
Icr.org Just a wealth of information today, man. I really appreciate, all three of our guests today. I hope you've learned a lot about this particular issue. At the very least, learned where to go get information to learn more about this particular particular issue. And as I was saying, the top of this particular segment for the day, we're getting better at this. I don't think we're there yet. We have not countered the left's efforts in taking the culture. So we often use the term culture war. Well, the culture war was waging only from one side for decades and decades and decades. I mean, the left has been at this since the 19 teens and 20s is when they really got started. And they had, have essentially conquered every area of the culture. If you think about it, in the last decade, we've seen a, nearly complete domination of the sciences, certainly of the arts. I mean, from the Kennedy center and the debacle there. Even now with the Republican administration, a Republican appointee heading up the Kennedy center, firing my friend Floyd Brown simply because of his position on traditional marriage. That was most people on the planet's position until 15 minutes ago. so from the arts, from the Kennedy center to of course, Hollywood being so overtaken by the left, which used to be a machine for reinforcing America's values. If you think about the movies of the 40s and 50s and 60s, even, Cecil B. DeMille and Ten Commandments and Ben Hur and even television programs reinforced, the values of the country. And now, of course, you know, 90% tearing down those values. So the arts, you know, the left owns the arts, they own, the entertainment, they own the media and most of the major networks and news sources and half the pulpits in America and the boardrooms of corporate America. In business, I mean, you just go down the list and I don't say that to depress you at all. I mean, I think it's just we have to assess the patient and recognize that's where the culture is. I say that to point out they worked really hard to get there. The left scratched and clawed in the trenches in the culture war while we did nothing, almost nothing. I mean, American Family association exists because Don Wildmon saw this decades before most people and said, we've got to do something to stop this. What Robert Bork would say just a few years later, after the beginning of American Family association, the slouch towards Gomorrah. And that's, you know, if it weren't for guys like Don Wildmon and Jerry Falwell and David Barton and D. James Kennedy and these other great warriors that said, you know, listen, we've got to engage in this. We have to actually get off our couches, get outside the four walls of our churches and get into these areas of the culture to wage war, to wage culture war, not physical war. All those, you know, people that, you know, all these left wing organizations that listen to us and take our words out of context, it's metaphorically speaking to essentially stand for what we believe to counter the arguments of what these people have done in every one of these areas.
Walker Wildmon: Culture wars are necessary to win the culture
All right, so I say all that to say that now we're doing better, Much, much better. What we've highlighted today, three examples of incredible organizations that have done the hard work, raised significant money to do what they've done. I mean, Ken Ham, first class at the Creation Museum at. I mean, just unbelievable how well they've done those things. Eric Hovind and just the quality of the production and the programming that they're doing, ICR and doing the digs and putting out the white papers and the information. I mean, these are necessary to win the culture. And then you look at the political side of things and you look at the organizations that exist now. I mean, when Patriot Academy started, started 25 years ago, there's virtually no one in the space doing what we're doing and still no one that does it quite like we do it in terms of training leadership and training people of all ages and all professions to be better citizens. Actually putting them in the legislative simulation where they can experience how constitutional republic works and then Teaching the Constitution in a fun, entertaining way and teaching people how to be good biblical citizens. So we've got that down really well. We've cracked the code on how to do that effectively, and you should be a part of it if you're not already. Patriotacademy.com, go check that out. But then also over in entertainment and what we're seeing with what Vidangel has done and these many others that are doing good production and putting out some great material. And then in journalism, trying to. Just yesterday we had Laura Logan with us at the Patriot Academy campus, and she was teaching on this very thing. How we've got to revive actual journalism and investigative journalism. so anyway, we could cover every area of the culture. It's getting, getting better in terms of our. Started to say our defenses, but that's the problem. We were on defense for too long. Our offense, our ability to play offense in the culture war, actually taking ground back. And then of course, with President Trump in the White House, it's a tremendous opportunity to do exactly that. It's the reason I, I emphasize here on the program so much.
