American Family Radio is promoting Truth for Youth Bible Week this week
Acts chapter 15 is where we have been this week. Acts chapter 15, looking at verses 1 and 2. And certain men came down from Judea and taught their brethren, unless you are circumcised according to the customs of Moses, you cannot be saved. They said. Therefore, when Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension dispute with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain others of them should go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders about this very question. That's Acts chapter 15, verses 1 and 2. And so here the, Paul and Barnabas are concerned about this adding to the gospel and this, really extra biblical approach to Salvation, where you've got some men saying, well, you've got to be circumcised, you got to follow the customs of Moses, otherwise you can't be saved, you can't be a believer. and so Paul and Barnabas are concerned about this and, are defending the faith, defending the teachings of Jesus himself that salvation is through faith alone in Christ alone is what was being debated here. And thankfully, the, debate and the position of Paul and Barnabas and the biblical position ultimately prevailed, in this instance. And so That's Acts, chapter 15. Just the first few verses there in Acts, chapter 15. Well, we've been pushing and promoting a, Truth for Youth Bible Week here on American Family Radio. And we're trying to put as many Bibles into the hands of young people all around the country as they are returning to school, returning to education settings. Some Democrats want to abolish Thanksgiving, which is explicitly a Christian holiday
All right, well, let's jump into the content for today. these, Democrats and some claim, to be socialist or communist. They won't say communist because it doesn't sound good, but they will call themselves socialist. They have just been giving the Republican Party tons of sound bites on these crazy ideas that they have. And all these institutions, these constitutional institutions in the case of the Senate and the Supreme Court that they want in the Electoral College that they want to abolish. And this is. We've shifted from the Obama era of they lie and they Mislead. And then behind closed door, they. They do their Marxism. But here they're just telling us what they want to do. They're not hiding it. They're not mincing words. They are telling us they want to destroy the very fabric of America. And they're telling that out loud in the public for everyone to hear. Now, some of you might find some humor in this, but if I told you that some Democrats want to abolish Thanksgiving, you would probably laugh. You would tell me you're making that up. There's no way that's true. But little do you know, the Christian holiday of Thanksgiving is now in the sights of the Democrats. And the reason I say the Christian holiday of Thanksgiving is because I want us to understand the true historical context of the 1621 Thanksgiving feast. For those who are students of true American history and studied under people like David Barton, Steven McDowell and others, you will quickly learn that the Pilgrims and the Indians were giving thanks to the God of the Bible for their abundance of food that came about in 1621 after years of suffering and starvation. they had an abundant harvest because they followed the principles of scripture and labor and hard work and due diligence. And, the Pilgrims and the Indians, just as the songs go and the history tells us they set aside a day for Thanksgiving and prayer, and they feasted and thanked the God of the Bible, Creator God, for his abundant blessing. That is explicitly a Christian holiday. And there was no mincing words or disputing who was being worshiped, who was being given thanks to. And that is the God of the Bible on the very first Thanksgiving feast. So that's the historical context, that's the background, or that's the true American history.
Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francis Hong says Americans should cancel Thanksgiving
But let's listen to this, Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate talking about how well we might ought to just abolish Thanksgiving. This is, Francis Hong running for governor in the state of Wisconsin. Let's listen to.
>> CNN Anchor: You know, you talked about your past positions that he keeps highlighting, and, you know, obviously likely would continue to do so before November should you win. One thing that, they brought up as well was a post from you in 2021, where you said Americans should cancel Thanksgiving. Should have done this in 1621. the post has been deleted. Republicans have been highlighting it. Do you still believe that, Thanksgiving should be canceled?
>> Francis Hong: I'm a chef, and one of the first meals that I made, that was, for the community when I was 16, was a Thanksgiving meal. Now, I always think my hospitality background in owning a restaurant for seven, eight years that bringing folks around the table, to share conversation and build community is always a good thing. But Thanksgiving is also a time that's incredibly painful for many people in our community. And so I think there, I wanted to make sure that people understood that there are multiple views, but views can evolve. And the position that I'm running for right now, and I think my background as a chef will actually help me become a better governor that's able to bring more people to the table.
>> Walker Wildmon: Well, a couple things here. That's the first time I've heard of your chef skills and credentials being utilized for your run for public office. But whatever, we'll take it. but here's her tweet from 2021. Once again, this is the Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francis Hong, running for governor on, behalf of the Democrats in Wisconsin. She said in 2021, she tweeted, Cancel Thanksgiving. Should have done this in 1621. If it takes a worldwide pandemic for us to realize we should stop celebrating colonialism and, and the original super spreader event that killed indigenous folks and women, so be it. Oh, that's a lot there. But I didn't know the Thanksgiving, feast in 1621 was a microaggression. This is breaking news to me. Since when has the settlers, the Pilgrims and the Native Americans coming together to thank God and feast over a food become a microaggression? I mean, you can't, you can't, win for losing here. So, Yep, that's. The new party platform is to abolish Thanksgiving. And on top of that, we're wanting to abolish prisons, defund the police, abolish the U.S. senate, and ultimately destroy the, quote, American empire, to quote the Democrat Socialist of America. So, welcome to 2026. This is the campaign of the crazies. And I tell you what, the Republican Party may be underwater in some polling numbers, depending on what you look at. They've got an uphill battle with, with the incumbency. That's always an uphill fight in the midterms to avoid that pendulum swing back in the other direction. But I'll tell you this, the Democrats are making it really difficult on themselves to win anything. And this is what I've, what I've told you and warned you about and kind of foreshadowed for the last couple years. I said this even after President Trump won in 24. I said these folks talking about the Democrats, they just don't know how to rein it in. I mean, they got clobbered in 2024 across, down the ballot. Democrats got hammered. And here we are in 2026 and they've learned zero lessons. As a matter of fact, they're digging their heels in. They're like, no, we're not crazy enough. We're going to. You thought we went off the cliff. We're going off the cliff again. We're not crazy enough. We're canceling Thanksgiving. this stuff doesn't win general elections. As I said earlier in the week. It might win you a, NewSong, York congressional seat. You might get a, you know, a state House seat in California by talking crazy. But you run on a general election ballot in Michigan, in Pennsylvania, in Arizona, and you tell folks that we're going to cancel Thanksgiving, a, a Christian holiday that has been celebrated in this country for what, what's my math? 400 years, well before American independence. And no, that's just not going to work, folks. It's just not going to work. And the polling on, on these items is very much not friendly to the Democrat viewpoint of everything's an aggression and we gotta abolish all these institutions and it's grievance after grievance after grievance. Look, it goes without saying America's had her flaws. We've had issues we've had to work through. We've still got things we gotta work through as a country far from perfect, but in the long history of mankind, since the dawn of created order by God in Genesis, the American experiment has been the best. The American experiment from a quality of life standpoint, from a quality of living standpoint, from a human rights standpoint, from an economic prosperity standpoint, from virtually every metric used from man's viewpoint on is a society doing well or not? I'm not necessarily talking the spiritual side, although we've been very prosperous from a spiritual vantage point throughout our history as well. But from all major metrics of human flourishing, America has been the best in the world. And we have exported this greatness and this prosperity and these massive human rights accomplishments to much of the world and brought much of the world out of poverty party, by the way. So this is the best game in town. And, it's, it's amazing what America has done. And we're here to be good stewards of our citizenship. And this Democrat party position of abolishing the Senate, destroying America, canceling Thanksgiving, that is a big no go go for a large portion of America.

Well, moving to our guests that we have this segment, Sheri Few is with us. She's been with us before. She's founder and president of uspie, US Parents Involved in Education. And she's really, the leader in exposing what's going on in America's education systems and, releasing, frequent reports on some of their findings on what's going on in America's education system. Sheri's with us now. Hey, Sheri welcome to the program.
>> Sheri Few: Thank you. I appreciate you having me back on.
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah, glad to have you on. And this latest report that, your team put out, has to do with the Southern Poverty Law center and a lot of their curriculum and their messaging and their lies, frankly, that have been used to smear and defame Christians, conservatives, Republican candidates for public office, etc. these materials are still making their way into America's classrooms through these various partnerships with school districts and states, et cetera. So tell us what, this report uncovered.
>> Sheri Few: So there's an organization called Defending Education, who are allies of our in this fight, to expose what's happening in government schools. I've actually had them on my podcast a couple of times, to talk about their research. They, they do FOIA requests into school districts and colleges and discover a lot Just by freedom of information. And so this latest report, showed that there are 100 colleges of education that they uncovered that are using the Southern Poverty Law Center's Learning for Justice standards. And so this is very troubling, especially in light of the fact that just weeks ago the FBI and, the Attorney General announced that they had indicted the Southern Poverty law center on 11 counts. So they have filed criminal charges against this organization that is supposed to be trying to eradicate racism. But what they found is they're actually fabricating it, they're manufacturing it. So they're raising money. Their donors are giving them money to end racism, and they're using the money to, to actually spread racism to fund some of the very organizations that are clearly racist. Ku Klux Klan, of course, everybody recognizes Aryan Nation. Some of the things that they found. They even had a recent, superseding indictment that raised the amount. It was 3 million originally that they had misused, and now it's up to 4.1 million. And they used it for things like, buying materials to burn crosses. And they sponsored six events like that and, robes and hoods for, Ku Klux Klan members to the tune of $225,000. So this is outrageous stuff that's been uncovered just recently. And yet Defending Education has found that they are still, training teachers in the colleges of education. And then I've seen other studies that have shown that it's in many school districts across the country, this, Learning for Justice. And you can tell by the title of it, they're not even hiding what it is they're doing. I mean, this organization is so outrageous. I went to their website this afternoon and did a little more research and they just are openly explaining their goals. they even have something on the website where they had featured some essays, to counter the official America 250 celebration. So here the rest of us are celebrating the freedom of our country and all. I mean, there were such great, celebrations that happened. And here they are offering alternatives to that, and celebrating individuals and groups who resisted, the freedom that we had 250 years ago. So it's really, some sketchy stuff. I mean, I'm really not surprised to learn that they're still in the schools. And you know, many states have banned this, especially from the Colleges of education. And so, you know, I think I read 15 to somewhere between 15 and 22 states have banned DEI, that's diversity, equity, inclusion in, their higher education. And despite that, despite their laws that forbid it, they're still there and I'm really not surprised. but I know your listeners would be surprised to learn that this is what's happening in government schools. And it's not just California and Illinois and the very blue states. It's happening everywhere. DEI is embedded in every grade level, and every subject.
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah, this is the Southern Poverty Law center and these left wing org organizations, they've really been in bed with the Democrat party and the teachers unions and the education system writ large for several years and decades. So they're very much entrenched. So to your point, even though various states like Florida and Texas and others have banned dei, which is basically reverse discrimination, there's still kind of these, this lingering effect, if you will, from this decades long, Marxist leaning, that took over a lot of America's education system. So we've got to remain ever diligent and we can't just assume because a statute passes or there's an executive order or we've got a good governor or president that all of a sudden all this stuff's going to magically disappear. the left is very motivated to continue their Marxist march, towards taking over and taking down ultimately America's most influential institutions across the country.
Sheri Few is founder and president of U.S. parents involved in Education
once again we're talking to Sheri Few, founder and president of U.S. parents involved in Education. Sheri what are you seeing when it comes to slightly different subject, but what are you seeing when it comes m to school board races? Parents, still being very engaged in kind of taking back their child's education or being more involved in it. are we still. We were trending in a good direction after Covid because parents were like whoa, this is happening at my kids school. and what are you seeing as far as the trend line goes and where we're moving at now, you know, five to six years post Covid?
>> Sheri Few: Well, you know, we saw a lot of action early on and I think unfortunately it's been tamped down somewhat, you know, because of groups like the Southern Poverty Law center, who, you know, labels concerned parents that speak out of school board meetings as extremists. In fact, our organization, is on the Southern Poverty Law Center's hate map. The United States Parents Involved in Education. Some of our chapters, the Family Research Council is on their hate map. Charlie, Kirk, and his tpusa. So you know, that's, that's a little bit intimidating. M. Our Illinois chapter president actually was on the domestic terrorist watch list because of his outspoken action in his community, if you can imagine in Chicago, and Antifa was involved, I mean he's been involved with people like Thom Homan in trying to expose what's happening, how Antifa is working together with this organization to intimidate parents and shut them down. So that's an issue that has really affected the energy behind the parent movement to push back. but we have heard other positive things from states like Washington, the state of Washington. You wouldn't imagine that 12 school districts in that state came together to sue their state department of education because of boys competing in girls sports. So there are some positive trends. I mean it's always positive when you see especially blue states where parents and school board members are standing up to the left's push. but you know, we released a report a few months back in January I believe it was. It's titled Our Government Schools Redeemable. And our conclusion is a resounding. No, I mean it is such a convoluted message that we don't recommend any parent enroll their children in government schools. It's just that toxic. And a parent's first line of defense has to be to protect their children. Now that doesn't mean that we forget about all the other kids because not only are they trying to and have effectively taken down this institution, this valuable institution in our country, but their end goal I believe is much greater. And we've seen it even with the Democrat Socialists of America who are on such a rise in our country. And so I did a report recently on their influence on education, how they are promoting their members to run for school board and to be employed within the schools and have that kind of an influence from the inside. So it really is a war for the minds of our children. first line of defense again for parents is to get your kids out. Because in the short term it's not going to be fixed and in the long term it's possible, but it's going to take a lot of political will. It might even take miracles. But in the meantime we have to protect children. But don't leave those kids that are left in those schools, subject to this indoctrination. We have to continue to fight it. We have to continue to elect people on the local and national level that will fight for these things. What's happening in government schools is akin to child abuse in my opinion. I was, you know, I was doing an interview earlier today about the my gender dolls that, that Are, in Minnesota where they have these dolls that are, used in schools with kids as young as four years old where they have removable body parts and interchangeable parts. It's just insidious. It's evil. And we have to continue to fight.
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah, absolutely. This is a multi front battle and parents ought to use all tools at their disposal. And our movement, as you mentioned, ought to be using all tools at our disposal. Whether that's pulling kids out, whether that's taking over school boards, whether that's setting up our own private education schools, which we're moving in the right direction. I mean the surge in homeschooling, the surge in private education, the surge in hybrid options and some of these kind of petite, hybrid schools, all of this is moving in the right direction. And at the end of the day parents need options. And that's the whole movement behind school choice is not forcing families and students to be stuck in one district at one school no matter what, with no way out. that just doesn't work. And it's proven to be a failed approach at education. Sheri Few has been with us, Founder and president of U.S. parents involved in Education. Hey Sheri tell our folks what your website is, how they can read more about your work.
>> Sheri Few: Okay, our website is uspie. That's uspie.org and we have lots of good resources there for parents. We also feature my weekly podcast titled Unmasking, Government Schools with Sheriff Excellent.
>> Walker Wildmon: Hey Sherry, thanks so much for coming on the program. We appreciate you joining us.
>> Sheri Few: Absolutely. Thanks again for having me on.
>> Walker Wildmon: Absolutely. That's Sheri Few, founder and president of US Parents Involved in Education. Their URL, as she mentioned, is uspie.orguspie.org you can check out their work, read their latest reports and the information they're putting out and stay up to date with their work.
President Trump speaks out against Democrats running America's inner cities
Well, in the last few minutes we have left, I wanted to play a clip from President Trump on what these Democrats are doing to America's inner cities. And I've said this before on the program on multiple occasions, but you look at America's inner cities, they have virtually been run, all been run, with a few exceptions, by Democrats for the last 40 to 50 years minimum. And, some of them 70 to 80 years. And they've been run into the ground. Absolutely, run into the ground. And here is President Trump talking about the terrible track record of Democrats running America's inner cities. Clip 4 let's listen.
>> Donald Trump: You know, I don't happen to be running, but a lot of Very good. Republicans are running and you have a sick ideology taking place right now that, you know, hopefully they'll be defeated because they'll destroy the country if they ever take over. But this desk is like a blocking desk. No matter who gets in. If it's bad, I block and I'm good at blocking. If it's bad, if it's stupid things like the things they want to do. We want to get rid of the U.S. senate. I don't like a lot of senators, just to be honest with you. I don't want to get rid of the Senate. We want to get rid of the Supreme Court. They want to put now 20, 21 or 23 people. That's a real. On the Supreme Court or get rid of it. they want to get rid of the presidency. They want to have an appointed executive running. That's a communist thing. You know, that's a communist thing. these are sick people. And you know, I said it the other day and it maybe doesn't sound that important, but when a country goes bad, like look at the blue cities, what do they have in common is, aside from massive crime, much more crime. The Republicans have very little crime. But what do the blue cities have in mind? And also, you can say this with nations, when they go bad, the blue cities have something in common. Crime, high crime, vicious violent crime. But what do they have in common? They're all dirty. They're filthy dirty. Their streets are dirty. Their streets smell, their storefronts are broken, their trees are all gross. Everything about the place is dirty.
>> Walker Wildmon: There you have it. You don't have to guess where President Trump stands on this. but he's right. I mean the way he's explaining this is in layman's terms. It does, it doesn't take a rocket science to figure this stuff out. But you just visit America's Democrat run inner cities and it's just terrible. It's terrible. From the crime to the, filth to the trash on the streets, to the homelessness, to the government run programs, you know, out the wazoo, it is all in all, prime for bad reviews by the voters. And, President Trump's onto something there. So if you've tried something for decades and it's proven to not work well, you ought to try something different. And something different is to elect non Democrat Marxists to run America's inner cities. Thanks so much for joining us on the program. Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast. We'll be back. M. Right now, the voices in our culture are loud, but truth is often silent. And today preborns need you to help speak that truth. American Family Radio welcomes Chris Woodward back for a special segment
>> Walker Wildmon: Welcome back to the The Core here on American Family Radio. The show's hosted each week by Walker Wildmon, myself, which is myself and Rick Green. For those of you who are new to the program, new to the network, glad to have you listening with us. As a brief reminder, we are going to, Greece and Italy in 2027. In March, we're going to be taking a trip to Greece doing part of the Footsteps of Paul. And then my parents are going to be taking a group the week after that to Italy to look at, Italy's Christian history and other historical sites as well. both of those trips, you can check out the information@tours afa.net tours.afa.net well, Chris Woodward is in with us this segment as he is most Fridays. Chris welcome back.
>> Chris Woodward: Thank you for having me.
Chris: Pete Buttigieg is fully in favor of abolishing the Electoral College
>> Walker Wildmon: Well, Chris we usually talk economics and we will towards the end of this segment, but I had to let you in on the fun that we're having. So earlier in the show we were playing clips of the, clip of the Wisconsin, gubernatorial candidate talking about canceling Thanksgiving because of all the microaggressions. And that was news to me that the Pilgrims and Indians sharing the mail was a problem. But here we are, and it seems like everything is A problem for the Democrats, and everything's got to be canceled, and they want to start over from scratch on everything. but Pete Buttigieg used to be the Transportation Secretary, under President Biden, former mayor of, Was it Great Bend?
>> Chris Woodward: South Bend?
>> Walker Wildmon: South Bend, Indiana, home of Notre Dame. Yeah. And, so he's obviously got presidential aspirations. And he, was on a recent podcast talking about how he is fully in favor of abolishing the Electoral College and how. Whoa, it's so unfair. Clip 2.
>> Chris Woodward: You're keen to remove the Electoral College and do it based on numbers, the quantity of votes for either presidential candidate. And I still can't believe that anybody considers this radical. Like, to me, it's. There's nothing radical about thinking the person who gets the most votes ought to be the winner. But I think people haven't thought through how much benefit would come from that. We did that. There are so many votes in red and blue states that you couldn't ignore anymore. Like, if you were running for president as a Democrat, you'd have to go to Texas.
>> Donald Trump: Yeah.
>> Chris Woodward: And even if Texas is still going to vote mostly for Republicans, you'd have to turn out every Democratic vote you could in Texas. And I just think we'd be so much better off if a Republican and Democratic candidate were competing over Texas. And by the way, NewSong York, even if NewSong York is definitely going to vote more for Democrats, a Republican candidate would have to come to NewSong York. And states from Alaska to Rhode Island. So it's small states too, get ignored now. Would finally be part of this competition. So, yeah, Electoral College for sure. Supreme Court needs to change. What do you do to the Supreme Court? I would have term limits, more justices, and some, process that makes it less partisan who the justices are. Some different ways to do that. The one I think is most interesting is called the balanced bench proposal. We have a mix. But anyway, the point is it needs to change.
>> Sheri Few: Yeah.
>> Walker Wildmon: Chris they're just mad because they can't win.
>> Chris Woodward: Yes.
>> Walker Wildmon: That's all there is to it. Because the Democrats had no problem with the Supreme Court and no problem with the Electoral College when Obama was in office when they were winning.
>> Chris Woodward: Yes.
>> Chris Woodward: In this case, Mr. Buddha Judge had no problem with the Supreme Court when it gave him the right to marry his husband.
>> Chris Woodward: Yes.
>> Chris Woodward: In 2016.
>> Walker Wildmon: In air quotes.
>> Chris Woodward: So, but. But aside from that, the Electoral College benefits the people of the great state of Indiana, of which he's from. And let me tell you why, if we did not have the Electoral College, Candidates, all they would have to do is go and campaign in the big cities. So if you're from South Bend, Indiana, nobody's going to come talk to you about your hopes and dreams and needs and whatever as a presidential candidate because he or she's going to be in Chicago campaigning for all those votes. Yeah. It's ludicrous to say, well, a candidate from Texas is going to have to go campaign in NewSong York. No, they're not going. You can go to Houston.
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah. They're trying to, fix a problem that doesn't exist.
>> Chris Woodward: Yes.
>> Walker Wildmon: And his point about. Well, it'll make a candidate have to go. It'll make a Republican candidate have to campaign in NewSong York. Well, no, to the contrary, it'll make a candidate not go to South Bend, Indiana.
>> Chris Woodward: Yes.
>> Walker Wildmon: Because there's nothing, millions of people in that city. So they're not gonna go there. So you're, quote, fixing a problem to create another problem. But the fact of the matter is the Electoral College is a good thing.
>> Chris Woodward: Yes.
>> Walker Wildmon: And it's not a problem. And it is representative. He's like, well, Rhode island doesn't have a voice. Yeah, they do. Last time I checked, they've got electoral college votes now. It's not as many as Texas because there's not as many people that live there.
>> Chris Woodward: It's ludicrous.
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah. So this notion that people's. That the popular vote is just completely being washed out, it's just fundamentally not true.
>> Chris Woodward: Yeah, it's silly. And it' all the more reason why we need to make sure that, students, younger students are taught these kinds of things, at an earlier age, as opposed to like 10th, 11th, 12th grade when they take a civics class or government or something like that. So it's all the m. More reason to do that. Millions of Americans, and that's being kind. A majority of Americans in this great country benefit from the Electoral College. So much so that when they go to bed at night and they thank God for all that they got to see and do and enjoy that day, they should also say, thank you, God, for the Electoral College.
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah.
>> Chris Woodward: Because a whole bunch of people in Manhattan, Kansas benefit from it. just like people in Manhattan, NewSong York benefit from the election process that we have.
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah. And to your point, this is. We live. It's important for people to understand this, folks. This is Civic 101, Civics 101. We live in a constitutional republic, or you can say a representative democracy. This is not. There is nothing pure democracy about what we're doing. In this country.
Chris: The closest thing we have to pure democracy is ballot initiatives
And there has never been for the last 250 years. So this notion that these, that these young lefties say is save democracy.
>> Chris Woodward: Yes.
>> Walker Wildmon: This is not a pure democracy. Never has been, never will be. All right, pure democracy. The closest thing we have to pure democracy is ballot initiatives at the state level. For example, a state, Illinois, wants to smoke marijuana on the sidewalk and they can't. Now, according to state law, what do they do? We want to do a constitutional amendment, even though I don't think marijuana needs to be in the Constitution anywhere. But they're like, we want to do a constitutional amendment and the majority vote wins, you know, in November. So the people go to the ballot box. But even the process to get that amendment on is somewhat representative. It's not pure democracy. And that's the misunderstanding that a lot of these lefties have is they think that this is supposed to be a pure democracy set up. And it's not. Why? Because our founding fathers saw the great loopholes and the problems created by pure democracy.
>> Chris Woodward: And you know why? They actually had like debates. They talked to one another. They, I mean, it got heated at times. And I'm sure, you know, I mean you had people like, I'm sure threatening to get, you know, throw hands or whatever, but they had like, they had conversations and debates. They didn't hide behind Twitter profiles and anonymous, accounts that say bad things.
>> Walker Wildmon: About to your point, this stuff is well thought out. It's not like our founding fathers are like, hey, flip a coin. Are we going to do electoral college or not? They had like intense years long debate on how this government's going to be structured. and the electoral college is in the Constitution, 12th Amendment. So you're going to have to amend that. But Chris seriously, the Democrats are straight up going after the Constitution. This isn't like we want Obamacare. They're like, no, let's just rewrite the whole Constitution. The pendulum is swinging. They're taking it way over there.
Some people claim that abolishing the Senate is wrong because people elect senators
>> Chris Woodward: Yeah, and this is related, to the topic here. And a lot of these people that are just spouting off all these things, they're not very well educated on what it is they're claiming to have a problem with. Let's go back, a week or so. Whenever Shannon Bream had the co chair from the Democratic Socialists of America on her program to confirm the various things that had been reported about their platform, platform positions, such as abolishing the Senate, that lady that spoke to Shannon Bream, people can go find it, it's out there on the Internet. Okay. On the Internet. It never dies. But you can go back and find her reasoning, as far as getting rid of the Senate. And she said, the Senate is old. It's something we brought over from the House of Lords. And the people have never really had a say over who their senator is. Which is so wrong because for over 100 years now, people have elected their senator. It was thought of the way the founders intended. people elected their representatives, states picked their senators.
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah. And if we really want to change something, let's go back to that. Ah.
>> Chris Woodward: And the reason we changed it, we
>> Walker Wildmon: would have like a 70 Republican U.S. senators.
>> Chris Woodward: A lot of this nonsense that we talk about on American Family Radio we could avoid had, states pick their senators.
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah.
>> Chris Woodward: but, but you know, the reason why, it changed is because you had these Democratic Socialists of America type people in the early 1900s going oligarchy, oligarchy. And they, they were concerned that Vanderbilt
>> Walker Wildmon: and other than I worked on that
>> Chris Woodward: in the car anyway, so they were, they were concerned that rich people were going to take over and run the country.
>> Chris Woodward: Right.
>> Chris Woodward: And so they got it to where the people picked their senators in 1913 or so. It's the, the 17th amendment. and it's for her to say that people don't have a say over their senator is. It's the reason people in the south say bless your heart.
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah.
>> Chris Woodward: to things like, as opposed to
>> Walker Wildmon: saying something not nice. Yeah, yeah. Even though the bless your heart is fully sarcastic, it sounds nice and not genuine.
Chris: The stock market seems unfazed by the Iran war
Hey, Chris, bring us some updates on the economy. I know folks like to tune in on Fridays to get some economic updates.
>> Chris Woodward: Well, there have been some good headlines here. this one is from the Associated Press and I always bring. Bring in an Associated Press headline when they admit that things are going well because the Associated Press will go out of its way to try to find something, to bad mouth the economy of a Republican president. But, here's their headline. US job opening slipped to 7.4 million. But labor market remains resilient in face of fighting in Iran. Translation, people aren't freaking out about what's going on in Iran. The economy was doing well, this week. Oil prices started falling back down. That was good news. the national average a few days ago was $4 and 8 cents. That's about a dollar more than it was this time last year. But things are looking like they may actually be, doing pretty well here. Unemployment M claims still, still seem to be low. So it's not a doomsday scenario. No.
>> Walker Wildmon: And the market, Chris here, The economy. And the market. So the economy, the everyday economy that you and I live in, and then the market, meaning the equities, the stock market has proven to be very resilient. not immune from negativity and things like oil disruptions, et cetera, but rather resilient in the sense that there has been no apocalyptic economic downturn as a result of the Iran war. And if you would have asked market analysts years ago what would happen if the strait were closed and the US And Iran went to war and blah, blah, blah, they would all, 90% of them would have said, you know, oil is at 150 a barrel and GDP is negative and mass unemployment and all these apocalyptic scenarios and it just hasn't happened. So the American economy through Covid and this has proven to be rather resilient. And the fact that the oil is not at $150 a barrel is pretty good. So I think. And then the S and P this week hit, all time high again. And some of the analysts are saying 8,000s and P, 500 in short order. that's just wild to me. But this bull market, Chris seems unfazed by the Iran war. I mean, it's seen some blips and it hasn't seen corrections. It's seen blips, but it just seems determined that it will continue climbing.
>> Chris Woodward: Yeah, I think one reason why people, are not faced is number one, we've, we, we kind of live in a country where it's like, well, it's, you know, it is fighting somebody. It's Tuesday, I mean, like, you know, so like, we're, we're kind of used to that. And two, news outlets that are trying to find a way to like scare people, when it comes to stocks or whatever, they fail to take into account that people are trading, they're investing, based on things that are years from now, plans, hope, streams, whatever. They're not investing, to retire next tomorrow. Yeah. So, people are envisioning things, working out, things, breaking out in terms
>> Walker Wildmon: of people in the long run.
>> Chris Woodward: And then, because we're going to be investing this or building that or whatever, I'm going to end up pretty well years, from now.
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah, exactly.
>> Sheri Few: Yeah.
>> Walker Wildmon: To your point, if you're in the markets, I mean, unless you're day trading, you're looking out on the horizon 5, 10, 20 years down the road and Virtually everyone I talk to agrees that on the other side of the Iran conflict, whatever that looks like and whenever it happens, assuming it's not under a Democrat, I'm assuming it happens under the next two and a half years of President Trump. Virtually everyone I talk to agrees the other side is better than this side and this side is seeing decent employment numbers. Manufacturing is doing well. inflation's still a little hot but still moderating. So it's, this side is not terrible, but the other side of the Iran conflict is drastically lower energy cost. We've got modular nuclear reactors coming online, reducing the cost to run your businesses, to power your businesses in your data centers and, and, and, and then you've got air, ah, still booming and you've got a bull market that's still relatively young. So the other side of this Iran conflict, whenever that happens and whatever that looks like, most people agree, is going to be kind of a shot in the arm of the economy.
>> Chris Woodward: Yeah. I would recommend anybody that is trying to figure out what's going on in the economy besides listening to this program, to you know, watch a financial program or listen to something, maybe find a podcast out there, something that's going to be like a long, at length, a lengthy discussion.
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah.
>> Chris Woodward: between a couple of people on a particular topic. Don't go for a sentence and a paragraph in a news article that may be trying to scare you. you got to get an accurate sense of what's going on. And I do recommend, because I did not do this when I was in my early 20s, I recommend anybody that's got a little extra, to go ahead and put that money away because you will be far better off in your early 20s if you start doing that now as opposed to I'm, 45 and planning to retire I hope.
>> Chris Woodward: Yeah.
>> Chris Woodward: So here's a little money in my pocket.
>> Walker Wildmon: Virtually everyone in, in, in, in America that has built wealth over years has done so in equities in the markets,
>> Chris Woodward: I mean, which is what makes America great.
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah, most people are building their wealth in the markets over the course of a long period of time and there's some great resources that I follow. Rhyen Dietrich, I got to give him a shout out. Rhyen Dietrich with the Carson Group is kind of my number one go to guy on the markets and the economy. He is just very level headed and his market predictions have been spot on. So thanks Chris
>> Chris Woodward: Thank you.
