Welcome To Real Truth For Today With Pastor Jeff Shreve And A Reading From Psalm 146 Praising God
Jeff Chamblee Welcome to Real Truth for Today with Pastor Jeff Schrieve, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Texarkana, Texas. Now, here's Pastor Jeff.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Well, good Thursday morning and welcome to Real Truth for today. I want to read to you from Psalm 146. What a great psalm. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. O my soul. I will praise the Lord while I live. I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. Do not trust in princes, in mortal man in whom there is no salvation. His spirit departs. He returns to the earth. In that very day his thoughts perish. How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord, his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever. He executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord raises up those who are bowed down. The Lord loves the righteous. The Lord protects the strangers. He supports the fatherless and the widow. But he thwarts the way of the wicked. The Lord will reign forever, your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the Lord.
Encouragement From Habakkuk And A Discussion On America's Christian Heritage And Understanding Communism
Well, I just want to encourage you. We had our Wednesday night service last night at First Baptist Text Arcana and talked about the book of Habakkuk, the last few verses of Habakkuk 3. And Habakkuk knew that disaster was coming. Babylon was going to come and wipe them out. But, he still chose to exult in the Lord. He chose to rejoice and praise the Lord and, just look to the God of his salvation. And that's what you and I get to do as believers in Jesus. And as my friend Gary Frazier said, he thinks God's taken his hand off America. But God has not taken his hand away from his children. He's not taken his spirit away, from his children. He'll never leave us and never forsake us. Well, after the election, I immediately thought of my friend Rod Martin. You know, Rod's been a frequent guest on Real Truth for today. And I don't know anybody that is more in tune with what is going on and has, really great, thoughtful analysis as he, looks at the geopolitical situation, as he looks at what's going on in America. Rod is the CEO of Martin Capital. He's a philosopher, capitalist. He hates communism, and, I like that about him. And he is my guest this morning. Rod, you hate communism, but it seems like America is, not too opposed to communism.
Rod Martin I don't think America understands communism.
Generational Awareness Of Communism And Its Spread To Nations Like China Venezuela And European Countries
It's been a long time since the fall of the Soviet Union. A pretty significant chunk of our electorate wasn't even born then. if they had been, they would have been incredibly young and not appreciated what some of us who were just a little bit older saw. I'm not a boomer, but I'm the child of boomers. And I was incredibly aware of what Ronald Reagan was facing in the 80s, and it hasn't abated. You know, you look at China, there's an ongoing genocide in China, not just against the Uyghurs. People have come to know a little bit about that. But, for example, the Chinese Communist Party persecutes its religious opponents. So Christians to some degree and Falun Gong practitioners to a very large degree are facing actual live organ harvesting without anesthetic in China. I mean, this is, this is a level of barbarism that is simply off, the charts. We see this in, you know, not that exactly, but the loss of liberty and as a result, the loss of a future in Venezuela and, you know, the deterioration of the position, of every European country. Fifteen years ago, they had collectively a larger economy than the United States. Now they're down to just 2/3 of the United States. Canada has gone from keeping up with American growth consistently for decades to since the left took over 10 years ago. They have the same population as California, but only half of California's economy.
Why People Embrace Socialism Based On Anger And Misinformation About Its True Nature And Effects
And California is the worst run state in America. So, I mean, you just look at these things and you're like, how could anybody embrace this? And the answer is actually really simple. The people who did embrace this first of all weren't actually, reading Karl Marx or Adorno or Horkheimer. They were mad. They were mad at, perceived slights from the Republican Party, some of which were just bad messaging, some of which were just, honestly, impatience, because we're making progress on nearly all the things they cared about. But it takes a minute. You can't, undo 12 years of Obama, Biden in 18 months. That's just not going to happen. And the other thing, of course, is that in school, they weren't taught that communism is oppressive. They weren't taught that socialism is debilitating. They weren't taught that any create a new aristocracy that rules everybody. That's not what they were taught. They were taught that socialism means fairness. And you listen to all these man in the street videos, and they're talking to young people who probably graduated from college pretty recently.
Young People's Misconceptions About Socialism And The Left's Advance In Brazil And Poland
And, consistently, it's very clear they think that under socialism, they're going to keep their lattes, they're going to keep their, their iPhones, and everything's just going to be plentiful and free. And I'm sorry, that just isn't real. And it's going to become apparent just how not real it is. I would add that in addition to this, what we just suffered, the left just stole the election in Brazil. The left just pulled off a coup d', etat, in part, in Poland. In Poland. So the left is on the march, and the American right is going to have to clue in. We've got a lot to work to do in the next 24 months.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Okay. So, Rod, when you saw the results on Tuesday night, were you surprised at all, or was that okay?
Analysis Of Election Results In Florida And Other States With Focus On Voter Fraud And Republican Wins
I figured this would happen.
Rod Martin Well, it was a bit more extreme, I think, than any of us thought. And yet, you know, I've been on your show a lot, and I've been saying all along, we probably lose. It could be bad. But, here's how we could win. And so I've been laying out the map, okay? Here's how Republicans can snatch victories from the, victory from the jaws of defeat. But we didn't. We got our heads handed to us almost everywhere except Florida. And, and sitting here in Florida with the Gulf of America out my window, I'm happy to say that we completely bucked the tide. And I'm not going to pretend that one of the reasons for that isn't, that we cracked down on voter fraud. Here we have the cleanest, fairest elections in America, and guess what? The Republicans won. So, you know, big Shock, we reverted to mean we didn't win by 19.4 points like DeSantis did four years ago. But historically, we've won our statewide races here in Florida by about a point.
Discussion On The Republican Party's Setbacks And The Concerns About Election Security And Voting Machines
And guess what? Byron Donald's won by a point and a half. So. So, you know, that's typical when you consider it was an open seat and a new candidate and so forth. Byron probably gets reelected in four years by something that looks a lot like what Ron DeSantis got four years ago. Because Byron's gonna be a great governor and Ashley Moody's m gonna be a great senator. But nationwide. Yeah, we got a shellacking. What I'm gonna talk to you about today is the historical shellackings that successful presidents got in both parties over the last several decades and how they proceeded to just go on to greater and greater strength.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Yeah, let me ask you this, Rod, because this is a concern. It's concern of mine, concern of many. we couldn't pass the SAVE Act. We have the House, we have the Senate, we have the White House, we have the presidency, and we can't get that legislation passed that the vast majority of Americans are for. So that doesn't make sense in both parties. Doesn't make sense to me. And I don't have a lot of confidence when it comes to voting that they're not going to be shenanigans. The, computerized voting is subject to fraud and cheating. And, you know, I like the one day voting with a paper ballot. I think that is fairly fraud proof at that point, showing id. But, if you look at that one issue.
Irregularities In Voter Rolls And Election Results Coupled With Concerns About Potential Fraud
Okay, in your opinion, how secure was the election this year?
Rod Martin I think there are some glaring irregularities. I can't say with confidence that anybody cheated anywhere, but I know that we had 253,000 non citizens on the voter rolls in just four blue states. That's kind of extraordinary. And federal courts did everything they could. Not all the federal courts, but key Democrat judges did everything they could to prevent the Justice Department from going after that. I look at Texas and look, maybe this is mostly explicable by the blue wave, but, but I'm sorry, I look out over similar elections going back 20 years, and in Texas, somehow, magically, 1.7 million new votes appear. That vote a straight Democrat ticket. Really? I mean, maybe, but, that looks a lot like that crazy 80 million vote number that Biden got in 2020. That's completely historically anomalous. Nobody gets anything like that ever before or ever since. And you just you look at this and you scratch your head. So I think there's a lot for the DOJ to look at. I don't know what they'll find. I don't. And I don't want to chalk it up to fraud because the truth is, you know, there are things we did that were stupid and there are things that they did that were smart. So, the biggest thing I would say to you is yes, you're exactly right about at least the potential for fraud and the fraud that we have really had in the past. For sure. that's absolutely true.
Technology's Role In Voting Security And The President's Power To Utilize Existing Laws For National Benefit
There is no unhackable voting machine. I say that as a technology guy. I, think you mentioned in intro that, you know, I was one of the early guys at PayPal. You know, we invest in technology companies, we know a little bit about this space. And I'm telling you, there is nothing, not a voting machine, that isn't hackable, especially if there's somebody helping on the inside. And then third, we really do have some tools that we're going to have to get more aggressive about. There's some really good case law from the Supreme Court going back all the way to 1941 that suggests that maybe we don't need the SAVE act, maybe we can go after some of this stuff in a little bit different way and attack it with existing law. And this president has been really, really good at that on a lot of different fronts, invoking old legislation that everybody's forgotten about to accomplish direly needed purposes. So all of these things are encouraging, but they're things we're going to have to get very serious about. And I have no doubt that this president is deeply serious about it.
Challenges In Passing Legislation Due To Republican Disagreements And The Senate Filibuster Rule
He fought very hard for this, the Republican Senate didn't. So to address head on, what you said at first, you know, I just can't believe, you know, we've got both houses of Congress and so forth. Yes. But you know, we had a, five seat margin or less in the House. If you have two or three rhinos, that by itself threw a wrench in whatever the House did. And despite that, Mike Johnson did a great job of moving legislation. The problem was the Senate, where we had a 53 seat majority. Certainly don't have that today, but 53 seat majority, and guess what? We had four or five rhinos who would consistently vote with the Democrats on this stuff. Then on top of that, you have the procedural hurdle of the filibuster. So you got to get to 60 votes to be able to pass that kind of legislation, since it's not a money bill that falls within the exemption. And there was no way on God's earth we were ever going to get to 60 votes because 100% of the Democrats were against us on the SAVE Act.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Yeah, well, we're talking to Rod Martin. We're talking about the election. still heavy on people's minds, obviously, but, our hope is not in government.
The Importance Of Hope In The Lord And The Ministry Of Preborn Network Supporting Pregnant Women
Our hope is in the Lord. You're listening to Real Truth for today. This June marks three years since the overturn of Roe. But did you know that since then, the number of abortions has surged to a 10 year high? PreBorn Network clinics continue to support women facing unplanned pregnancies, showering them with God's law and providing free ultrasounds. When a mother meets her baby on ultrasound and hears their heartbeat, she's twice as likely to choose life.
Robert It was like the beginning of my healing journey. They do an ultrasound. That's when everything changed. When I saw my baby and when I heard her heartbeat, that was it.
$28 sponsors one ultrasound and $140 helps to rescue your generous tax deductible. Donation also helps to provide women who choose life with assistance for up to two years. To donate, dial £250 and say the keyword baby. That's £250, baby. Or visit preborn.com afr.
Post Election Analysis Of The Blue Tsunami In Texas And Criticism Of Republican Leadership And Inaction
Jeff Chamblee This is Real Truth for today. Podcasts of the program are available on the podcast page [email protected] now back to Pastor Jeff Schrieve.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Welcome back to the program. Pastor Jeff here talking to my friend Rod Martin. And we're talking about the aftermath of the blue, tidal wave, the blue tsunami, as Ted Cruz called it, from Tuesday. And Rod, I want to play you this clip from Don Huffheins, Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. He was, defeated on Tuesday along with Greg Abbott and Dan Patrick, Ken Paxton. And, it was a shocking, loss for Texas to go blue. And this is what he had to say. I want you to listen to it and then comment on it.
Speaker F It's gonna be almost impossible to win this state back. I blame it on our leadership. I just do. I blame this on Greg Abbott. I blame it on Dan Patrick. I blame it on all the mushy metal people that want to think, oh, they're in the middle. We want to make everybody happy. Well, you sure did a good job of this mess. I hope they're happy, because now we're all gonna suffer. I blame it all on our leadership thinking they're going to go for four terms as governor. Four terms as lieutenant governor. I mean, seriously. Yeah. People are tired of the Republicans being in office. They couldn't campaign on. On a policy issue if they campaigned on lowering your property tax. Guess what? All that did was remind everybody, why do. You didn't do it 12 years ago, and that's a fact. They didn't do it 12 years ago because they don't care about you. They never cared about you. I served with them. They laugh and make fun of you and the grassroots. They never cared about our party platform.
Pastor Jeff Schreve All right, Rod, I, think that does bother people if what he's saying is true, and obviously he sounds a little bit sour grapes, but there is a frustration in the Republican Party that said, hey, we vote these guys in, they don't do what they campaign on. are they laughing at us behind closed doors? Do they think we're stupid and they're just, you know, going to use us to gain power? So give me your response to that.
Rod Martin Now, there is some truth in what he just said, and there's some doubt.
Political Climate Shifts And The Success Of Florida's Reforms In Property Tax And Voter Engagement
There's some stuff there that just sounds like emoting. you know, the truth is they probably shouldn't have run for fourth terms. I don't know what they were thinking, but it's false to say, well, if you do something about property taxes, people are just going to ask why you didn't do it 12 years ago. Well, I can tell you why. Because the political climate didn't exist 12 years ago. We have the same question here in Florida. We've had the governor's mansion now for. For a quarter century. Why didn't we pass Amendment 312 years ago? Well, because there wasn't a political consensus behind Amendment 3. But this year, we massively reduced everyone in Florida, on a first home basis, their property tax burden on the path, we believe, to abolishing property tax on first homes so widows aren't paying rent to the government every year and effectively leaseholders of a government home that they paid for 30 years ago. That's a horrible, horrible thing. We don't want widows evicted in Florida, and we're fixing it. Okay. Does that mean that voters said, oh, well, the Republicans should have done this 20 years ago? No, they turned out to vote for amendment three. We passed it with 62%, and it's probably one of the reasons that we were able to drag everybody over the line. And we won every statewide race here. So I think Don's just off, base on that one. Of course they're working for reform.
The Need For Clearer Communication Of Future Plans And The Impact Of Internet On Political Volatility
What they didn't do was spend enough time explaining what they want the future to look like. We have made great gains in the past. Here they are now. Here's what we're gonna do for you. We're gonna make it better. Rome wasn't built in a day. I think that's true up and down the ticket, and not just in Texas. Now, the other thing that Don said says there, that's just silly, just absurd in the light of Tuesday, he's like, it's going to be impossible to flip Texas back. Red. Are you kidding? I mean, this was mostly a protest vote. Most of these people were just mad at the Republicans. Rightly or wrongly, doesn't really matter. And that just flips from cycle to cycle forever. We get more volatility in our pocket politics now than we used to because the Internet makes it easier and faster, and it reduces attention spans and patience in, a time when everybody gets their news from TikTok.
God's Hand In America's History And The Historical Pattern Of Presidential Success After Midterm Losses
So. So, okay, you get more volatility, but that works in both directions. You know, there's this belief that. And you actually hit on this, probably inadvertently in quoting a pastor early in the first segment, you know, oh, God has taken his hands off America. Really? Every time we face a setback, that means God took his hand off us. Does that mean that when we lost at Pearle harbor, we should have just surrendered to Japan? That's not what that meant. When we lost at the battle of Bull Run, does that mean that Lincoln should have surrendered to Robert E. Lincoln? No, that. That's dumb. And George Washington spent eight years losing until he won. So. So it ain't never over. And. And the idea that it's over is a historical. So let me take you back in time just a bit to remind you not only that we're going to win again. Absent. Absent just insane levels of fraud. We're going to win again.
Historical Examples Of Presidents Overcoming Midterm Setbacks To Achieve Great Success
But that's not even the bigger point. The bigger point is we have a history of presidents getting shellacked in the midterm and going on to be wildly successful after. So, for instance, in 1982, Ronald Reagan faced an almost identical situation. We're coming out of a recession. People still think affordability is a big issue. The president hasn't moved fast enough. He had, but, you know, it hadn't taken effect yet. And so he loses House and senate seats in 82. It was, it was a bad year. Two years later, after two years of highly effective presidency that a Democrat Congress was not able to stop, he gets a, 49 state victory in 1984. Same thing in 86. We get shellacked in the midterms, lose the Senate, and two years later, we win the presidency with 440 states. Can you imagine anybody winning 40 states today? I mean, right. It's just crazy. And, and he was a highly effective president all eight years. Bill Clinton, same thing. Bill Clinton lost more seats in 1994 than we're losing this year. And Bill Clinton went on to a 65% approval rating, easy reelection in 1996, and pretty well anointed his successor in 2000. You know, Al Gore got the popular vote. Got to hand it to him, he lost the electoral College. But on a certain level, he won George W. Bush the same thing. We get shellacked in 2006, Barack Obama, he lost both of his midterms big. My gosh. In 2010, he lost 63 House seats and six Senate seats.
Donald Trump's Work Ethic And Economic Growth Paving The Way For Future Success In 2028
It is a nightmare. Two years later, easy reelect over Mitt Romney. And six years after that 2010 election, including another shellacking in 2014, Obama was a highly effective president for all eight years of his term. Now, Donald Trump outworks everybody. We all know that Donald Trump gets more done in a day than any other president ever got done in a. He's gotten more done in the last 18 months than any other president ever did in four. And the economy is building. We added a million jobs just in August and September. The boom we've been talking about is here. It just isn't felt yet. Those million people feel it. Pretty soon the whole economy will feel it. And that's going to be what we're moving into, going into 28. If it's the economy, stupid, like Carville said, and like clearly the voters said on Tuesday night, the economy's gonna be knocking it out of the park in 28. And guess who's gonna get credit for that.
The Public's Tendency To Credit Or Blame Presidents For Economic Conditions And The Reversibility Of Political Majorities
It isn't gonna be Chuck Schumer trying to impeach Donald Trump. Every 10 minutes it's going to be the President who made it happen. People blame the president, rightly or wrongly, when things are bad. They credit the President when things are good, rightly or wrongly. Just look at Bill Clinton and, you know, others, and that's just how it works. So I, think Don's idea that, oh, this is irretrievable, right? no, this puts us in a hard spot where we're going to have to work harder and we're going to have to be smarter about it. But, irreversible, Tuesday night proved that you can have long term majorities and they're reversible. They'll be reversible again in 24. We kicked butt.
Concerns About Democrat Plans To Naturalize Immigrants And Abolish The Senate And Electoral College
So, you know, in 28 we can kick butt. The party that wins usually is in danger of losing two years later.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Rod, if what, what people are saying, if that comes to pass and the Democrats naturalize, all these illegals that came into the country and you flood the decks and add DC And Puerto Rico and pack the court, all the things that we're hearing, could that make it to where, somebody with conservative views just, he's not going to be able to. You can't overcome that.
Rod Martin Was there a constitutional amendment anywhere on the ballot that repeals the President's veto? Because they don't have 2/3. They don't have anywhere near 2/3 in either House. Everything they do that, that is vaguely in the direction you're describing is just going to get vetoed. And if they want to pack the court, I encourage them to do so. They should create five new Supreme Court seats for Donald Trump to fill tomorrow. Good luck. That'll be great. That danger comes in 29. If we screw up and let the Democrats take back the White House. That is catastrophic. That does mean dramatic change in a socialist direction. They want to abolish the Senate. They want to abolish the Electoral College. What is abolishing the Electoral College mean? People don't understand this.
The Dangers Of Abolishing The Electoral College And Its Impact On Representation And Campaigning
The Electoral College spreads it out where presidential candidates actually have to go campaign in places like South Carolina and Kansas and Arkansas and you know, fly over country that would otherwise get ignored. Why would it get ignored? Because the big city machines are capable of turning out a popular vote majority in places the Democrats have ruled for over a century. And the rest of us just get ignored. So, you know, nobody's going to care about how anybody votes in the panhandle of Texas or the panhandle of Florida ever again. If they abolish the electoral College. Okay, that's fundamental change. That's Obama's fundamental transformation of objectives. America. That's really terrible.
The Resilience Of The American System And The President's Executive Power To Influence The Economy Through Tariffs
And that's really not possible in 2027 and 2028. So, again, we do not have a parliamentary system. The President of the United States has all of the executive power of the United states. That's Article 2, Section 1, which, by the way, has been almost entirely watered down for most of the last century, but now is back more fully in effect thanks to several Supreme Court rulings that undid, really unconstitutional stuff from the past, starting with Franklin Roosevelt. So you've got a very effective executive. He's not going to be able to legislate, but he has a lot of power on the books. And a perfect example of that is the tariffs. Now, the Supreme Court overturned the IEEPA tariffs, but the ruling in which they overturn them goes on at length about. But you've got this law you can use, and this law you can use, and this other law over here you can use, and here's this other law that no one's ever used that you could use, which Trump just used. And so he's got all of this power to be able to keep the economic boom on track.
Economic Boom Driven By Tariffs And Factory Construction And Democrat Opposition To Data Centers
The principal benefit of the tariffs, aside from opening for foreign markets to US Producers, has been this. It has. Because he exempted anybody who builds a plant in the United States. We're getting a plant boom. Hundreds, if not thousands of new factories are under construction or about to be under construction in the United States that turns into an industrial super cycle that we were promised by the Democrats and the Republicans could never, ever happen and would never come back. And Donald Trump is producing it. That's going to be really obvious by the election in 2028.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Okay, Rod, I've heard people talking about, you know, a lot of the driver for growth is data centers and building the data centers and getting those going. the Democrats are going to want to put a kibosh on that,
Rod Martin which is stunning to me. I mean, how does that make any sense? You know, these guys, these guys presumably love their country. I mean, okay, regulate them a little bit. Make sure they don't, you know, mess up the water table. Make sure they don't, you know, increase power prices. That's easy to do. Make them build their own power plants. Make them, make them build, data centers that don't use water. That we've been able to do that for 45 years. But the Democrats seem just hell bent on helping China get an insuperable lead over the United States.
Impact Of Democrat Policies On Business Growth In Texas And The Potential For Job Losses To Space
The problem for them is again, they're not going to be able to do that in the next two years. What we're seeing is already happening in Texas where Elon, who is building some just vast data centers, has made clear, I'm not going to build these in Texas. If the Democrats are going to run Texas, I'm going to build them in orbit. And who's going to complain about that? Because in orbit, I'm sorry, there's no water table to mess with, there's no lack of electricity. Put a solar panel out there and you're good. And it doesn't affect anybody's prices. What it does affect, and this is a shame, is data centers bring a lot of high paying jobs to the communities that they are located in in. And the current debate has just completely neglected that. So there are going to be some jobs that we could have had in the United States that are actually now going to exist off world.
Rod Martin's Book Trump's New World Order And The Importance Of Faith And Working For Victory
And, that's not necessarily a bad thing for humanity, but it's not necessarily a great thing for Austin and Abilene.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Right? Very, very true. We're talking to Rod Martin, geopolitical commentator rodmartin.org is how youw Can reach him. Philosopher, capitalist, he hates socialism and he's the author of the brand new book Trump's NewSong World Dismantling the Deep State and Ending post War Globalist rule There. He has a picture of it right there. If you're watching on AFR, or on YouTube. When we come back from the break, we'll be taking your calls. 888-589-8840. That's triple 858-988. Pick up the phone, give us a call and let's talk.
Taking Your Calls About President Trump And The Blue Tsunami And Operation Christmas Child Month
Jeff Chamblee If you'd like to contact Pastor Jeff, email pastorjeffromhishheart.org now back to Real Truth for today with Pastor Jeff Schrieve.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Welcome back to the program. Pastor Jeff here talking to Rod Martin. And in this segment we're going to be taking your calls. 888-589-8840. If you have a question for Rod, pick up the phone and give us a call. Let me just say this before we get back into that. it's November and that is Operation Christmas Child Month. And so National Collection week is November 16th through the 23rd. We're having our big shoebox Sunday here at First Baptist Texarkana on the 22nd, November. And so we're asking people to pick up a shoebox and fill that for the kids and then bring it on the 22nd. So collection week, November 16th through the 23rd. You can find out more by going to samaritanspurse.org, samaritansperse.org or go to afr.net well, Rod, let's talk a little bit, as phone lines are filling up, let's talk a little bit about President Trump and, his part in the blue Tsunami. it seems like Trump derangement syndrome is a real thing and people on the left, it's a big deal. James Carville, I saw a clip of him.
The Impact Of Trump Derangement Syndrome And Sane Democrats On Election Outcomes And Party Control
I thought he was foaming at the mouth. He was just talking about how much he hates Donald Trump and how he wants more tds. And, how much do you think that played into what we saw on Tuesday?
Rod Martin Well, and yet Carville said something else I found fascinating. He said the night before the election, he said, I would rather the Republicans win both houses by five than the Democratic socialists who are crazy and going to ruin America and going to ruin the party. It would be better if the Democrats got a lesson and repudiated this stunning leftward shift, even if that means we lose the election. Okay? That proves there are sane Democrats and there are some sane Democrats, who won on Tuesday night. So, so I think what we're going to see is both the socialists and the more traditional Democrats are about to fight for control of the party in a big way. They've got to nominate a presidential candidate, too, and that gives us some opportunities. They're going to have a little civil war because both wings of the party now believe they're the reason they won. And I don't think that's actually why any of them won, but that's okay. Now, as far as the president, two things. I mean, TDS is real. the bigger trend is historical.
Historical Trends Of Presidential Party Losses In Midterms And The Ramping Up Economic Boom
The President's party always loses the midterms. I've been saying, saying that to your viewers now for a year. You know, we always lose. There are exactly two midterm elections in the last 96 years in which the president's party didn't lose the midterms. And, and you've heard three sided. And it turns out when you look at the third, actually, the president's party still lost. They just didn't lose by as much as expected. That, that isn't a win. So, so, you know, of course we're going to lose the midterms. that's, that's not staggering. And of course Donald Trump is going to be blamed because he's the top guy. If it were George Bush or Barack Obama, the same thing would be true. So the question is, what goes on from here? Again, that economic boom is ramping up. That's undeniable by anybody who looks at the numbers. It was. Was deniable on the ground because everybody hasn't felt it yet, but they're about to. So that changes the picture. Second, the president won't be on the ballot in two years. they can laugh and joke and make Democrat heads explode and say he's going to run for a third term. That's not happening. That's silly. That's just tweaking them. And so, we saw Obama go on to higher approval numbers after he lost the midterms. Both times. We saw that with Reagan, we saw that with Clinton. We're going to see that here. The president's numbers are going to firm up a lot, and that's going to help whoever his successor may be. And we're still going to be in a fight, and there's still fraud issues, and there's still all kinds of other things. But the biggest thing, and you and I were talking about this offline, is that regardless of how these midterms worked out, and of course, we lost.
President Trump's Active Role In Supporting The Republican Ticket And Setting A Precedent For Future Presidents
And of course, we lost bigger than you might historically expect. Although it's actually very consistent with the 2010 midterms, with the 1994 midterms, you know, and those presidents came back and got a lot done. nevertheless, where we are is we have a president who was willing to get out on the stump. Republican Party presidents haven't done that before. Democrats haven't done it before to this degree. He was out there in 29 rallies in 32 days, 40 virtual rallies in that same time period, hundreds of endorsing appearances. He did. He spent, raised and spent $450 million, which is presidential year money. That's more than he spent on his own first election as President. President. $450 million to help the Republican ticket. And look, in a year like this, it may not have moved the needle, but that's what you want in a Republican president. I hope it sets a precedent for future Republican presidents. If it does, a lot of years, it is going to make an enormous difference. And, you know, that's what we want presidents doing.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Yes. Well, let's go to the phone lines. And we have Kathleen on the line from Texas. Kathleen, welcome to Real Truth for today.
Caroline Hi.
Discussion On Abolishing The Senate And Its Historical Context And The Anti Democratic Nature Of Its Design
Hey. I was fascinated by what you were saying, and I almost forgot my question. So, but I Just remembered I have a question about the Senate. Abolishing the Senate. and I understand the 17th amendment about, the election of senates versus the appointment of Senate Senators, but how. You're
Rod Martin one of the few. Congratulations.
Caroline Okay, thank you, thank you. why would. I'm actually a history professor. But why would, how would the Senate, wouldn't the Senate be involved in abolishing the Senate? I mean, that doesn't make sense to me. It's like I'm gonna fire myself. Yeah.
The Brilliant Design Of The American System Balancing Power And Preventing Tyranny Through Checks And Balances
Rod Martin And of course, you know the argument, the argument is that it's anti Democratic. And, and the answer is. Yeah, that was the idea. You have a popular vote based house, you have a Senate and you know, you referenced the 17th amendment, a Senate that is supposed to sort of be a House of ambassadors from the states so that you balance those interests against each other. And then you've got a President who's elected by a combination of popular vote and a electoral college that makes sure that every part of the country is consulted in that process. This is all, brilliant design, actually. This is the high point of human thinking on governance, because what it does. And the Founding Fathers were brilliant about this. Yes, they were children of the Enlightenment, but they were also children of the Great Awakening. They believed in the foundation fall of man. They believed that man is corruptible and corrupt. And as a result, you can't let any one guy get so much power that he can use it as a club and beat up everybody else and take their stuff, because that's what happens in a more unitary system. And that's exactly what we saw in the French Revolution, which was not at all influenced by the Great Awakening. And so, so you get the terror and you eventually get the coup and you eventually get the monarchy. And it's just horrifying how that went. So the American system is very resilient. It makes it very hard, as you just said, for these guys to accomplish some of this stuff. What they can do though, they can very easily admit D.C. and Puerto Rico as states and pad their Senate majority by 4 on a more or less permanent basis plus a bunch of electoral votes. They're very clear they want to do that. They can increase the number of Supreme Court justices and a Democrat president could fill those and a Democrat Senate could rubber stamp them. All of that is horrifying. I mean, that's just blatantly corrupt. And so we have to prevent that. And that's what's on the ballot in 28. But in the short term, will they actually abolish the Senate?
The Danger Of Democrats Admitting D C And Puerto Rico As States And The Goal Of A Popular Vote System
Actually, I think they would if they had the votes to do it, because they want a system that is completely popular, vote based, so that the big city machines can run the table. That's the goal. And that works for the Democrats much better than it works against the power of senators.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Yeah. Okay, very good. Well, thank you, Kathleen. Good, good. question. We have Lee on the line from Texas. Lee, welcome to Real Truth for today.
Economic Outlook For Texas And The Impact Of Democrat Policies On Business Friendliness And Investment
Caroline Yes, my question is, Texas is the eighth largest, economy in the world. California is the fourth. And right now, I think in Texas, we were gaining. But now under Democrat, rule, do you see ourselves still gaining, or is it possible for us to start dropping, like, to 9th, 10th, or 11th?
Rod Martin Yeah, I think there are some really bad possibilities here. For, for example, you just got the Texas Stock Exchange up and running this summer in Dallas. They're calling it Y' All Street. Well, the whole theory there is that NewSong York is a blue state and they are making it almost impossible to do business. So let's flee to Dallas and we'll be safe. Well, guess what? You're not safe anywhere now. They should have come to Palm beach. And, actually, I said when they did it, you know, same thing. The NASDAQ and the NewSong York Stock Exchange opened branches in the last year in Dallas on the same theory. We've got to have a place where the regulatory environment makes sense, tax policy makes sense, and they're not hosing us with DEI requirements that make it impossible to function. So, you know, I think that that could be a real disaster. Disaster for the entire movement toward a Y' All Street. You also see it with Elon. Elon moved to Texas specifically because it's business friendly. Very business friendly.
Elon Musk's Move To Texas And The Importance Of Business Friendly Policies For Economic Growth
Because the Republicans created this entire system of business courts to match what Delaware's always had. That is a big attraction for businesses where they have expert judges who actually understand business ruling on their cases, and a separate business and commerce code that actually is well constructed and helps you actually hire people and invest. is that going to stay. It's not obvious that any of that's going to stay intact. And when Elon's talking about building data centers in orbit, not just in addition to, but in place of, things he was planning to build in Texas, I think that's very convincing. I also think that we're going to get a lot of great new jobs in Florida.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Yeah, for sure. All right, appreciate that. Lee, good question. We have Sheri on the line from Oklahoma.
Encouragement From Scripture And Appreciation For Rod Martin's Insights And Books On Current Events
Sheri, welcome to the program.
Caroline Thank you. Thank you, Jeff. May I ask you a quick question first? We're all ready to be encouraged right now. You quoted a scripture. The Lord loves the righteous, and he forts the render of the wicked man. I find that encouraging. Can you please tell me that sister reference?
Pastor Jeff Schreve Oh, that was in Psalm 146.
Caroline Thank you. Of course. Yes. Now I remember. And I just want to tell you I am so grateful that you're having Rod Martin on his chat on your show. I just try to listen to him all the time. I have just bought his books. I didn't read his book, and I'm telling everyone I know this guy knows what's going on. You'll find him greatly encouraging. You'll learn a lot.
The Importance Of Faith And Hope In God's Deliverance And The Historical Cycles Of Victory And Defeat
You need to go to his website. You need to buy his book.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Well, that's awful nice, Sheri. Rod, I don't know if you could hear that. She was a little muffled, but she said that she's a big fan of Rod Martin and she's bought your books and tells people to buy your books. And, so she's promoting Trump's new world reorder. Okay, Rod, I know you got to go. Any, last comment for our listeners?
Rod Martin Yeah, I'd come back to what I said at the outset. Giving up hope is, aside from historically foolish, it's a lack of faith, you know, and there are two dimensions to that. I mean, first of all, how long did the Israelites suffer under oppression at various times in the Book of Judges for God to just come back and deliver them? and then for a generation or two, they're in great shape. That generation or two part gets you to the second point, which is it ain't never over. You don't win permanent victories any more than you win than you lose permanent losses usually. Now it's possible to have a pretty devastating loss.
God's Intervention In Elections And The Need For Faith And Prayer Against Socialism
We didn't have that here. We might have it in 28. That could be a long term thing, but we're not there yet. And God delivered us in 16 and in 24, so there's. And neither of those elections should have been possible. You know, this socialist revolution the Democrats are talking about should have happened in 2017, and God just intervened and changed it. So we've got to actually have faith. If we say we're Christians, we don't actually get to pronounce judgment. You were talking about Habakkuk early in the show, which I love. I'm one of those weird guys who actually reads the whole Bible at least once a year, including all of the minor prophets. So I love them. and. And I'm reminded that Habakkuk, of course, isn't the only one. He's one of 12. And one of the others is Amos, who spends quite a bit of time smacking down people who are calling for God's judgment, you know, and. And actually spends a lot of time pleading with the Lord. You know, the Lord is angry at Israel. He's going to destroy them. He's going to judge them. and Amos, you know, prays back to him repeatedly. But Lord Israel is so small. And. And. And the Lord relents, you know, because. Because Amos pulls on the Lord's heartstrings and the Lord relents.
The Importance Of Earned Victories And Christians Working Diligently For Their Goals
So. So, no, we need to have faith, and we need to work our best butts off. The next two years are gonna matter. We can win. We don't have to succumb to socialism, but we have to earn it. And Christians aren't used to having to earn much of anything.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Yeah. Rod, thanks so much for being my guest. I appreciate you, my brother. I know you gotta go.
