American Family Radio thanks sponsor Preborn for supporting pro life ministry
Dr. Jessica Peck: We would like to take a moment to thank our sponsor, PreBorn. When a mother meets her baby on ultrasound and hears their heartbeat, it's a divine connection. And the majority of the time she will choose life. But they can't do it without our help. Preborn needs us, the pro life community, to come alongside them. One ultrasound is just $28. To donate, dial pound 250 and say the keyword baby or visit preborn.com/AFR I
Listener Story: listen to American Family radio a lot. I'm a truck driver, and I just love the message that I get. it keeps me instilled, it keeps me on track. I get so blessed just because of all the different topics and all that I get from it. And just want to say thank you so much for the ministry that you provide to those of us out here. And, oh, and you guys, just y' all, bless me daily. Thank you very much.
: In Matthew 22:37 40, Jesus said, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, love your neighbor as yourself. All the law and the prophets hang on these two commandments. Love God and love people.
: It's Share a Thon, on American Family Radio. Call now 877-616-239. That's 877-616-2396 or give online@afr uh.net make your pledge and help us love God and love people during shareathon.
Wesley Wildmon: Welcome back from our short break. We continue with Sharathon. The last couple, last couple of hours of Sherithon. And yes, like I said, we do take our breaks, but we're back at it. And, if you hadn't heard, in a minute, I'll share it with you. 877-616-2396. That's 877-616-2396 or visit afr.net we're back here for the next 55 minutes. Jessica, Dr. Jessica Peck and myself.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Jessica, I'm so glad to be back here with you, Wesley. We have made it through all three days. And let me tell you, these volunteers here in this room are some of the most gracious, amazing people on the face of the planet, driven from all different states to come, many familiar faces. Now I'm learning and seeing. And did you know we even have. I'm sure you know, because this is a legendary story around here, but I'm new on the block. You remember, the two even met here and Got married.
Wesley Wildmon: Yeah.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Volunteering together.
Wesley Wildmon: We've got that. We have a story of that. We've had stories of people bringing their grandkids, during. We've had. We've had a bunch of stories over the years of where people have met here. We also had a lot of people come from, hours and hours, 10, 12, 13 hours away too, and drove. So, yep, we've got. There's a lot that's happened in this room beyond just, the, the primary focus, which is Sharathon. A lot, a lot of relationships are made here.
Dr. Jessica Peck: So that number again is 877-616-2396. That's 877616, 2396. Now, Wesley, I came all the way from Texas, so if I can do that, I think you can pick up the phone and thank you to all the Wesley's and Jessica's yesterday who donated. I'm really appreciative of that.
Wesley Wildmon: I'm sure if we had a top 50, we, climbed the ladder. We didn't break the top 10 because I looked at it, but I bet. No, but I bet if we had a 50, we were in there maybe today.
Dr. Jessica Peck: We had a good conversation yesterday about my angst over Gen Z taking my name, as a viral trend. And I'm not okay with it. So if you're in a is Jessica and you're really a nice Jessica, call in and stand and support with us. 877-616-2396.
Wesley Wildmon: And it seems like each sheareth on by about the, last day and the last 45 minutes, you and I are really, really catching our groove. And then it ends.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yes, I know.
Wesley Wildmon: And so what, what can we do about that? Don't, don't wait. No, don't wait. Don't wait.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Call in now.
Wesley Wildmon: 877-6162, 2396 or visit afr.net now, right before we started this hour, we were talking and you had a question you'd like to ask.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I. I do. I can. About challenge. Oh, yes.
Wesley Wildmon: I,
Dr. Jessica Peck: Oh, yes. Okay. Yes. Okay. You're supposed to pass me a note. Okay.
Wesley Wildmon: That's right.
Dr. Jessica Peck: All right. I do have a question. All right, now remember, I am relatively new here, and that's just showing right now. By the way, if you feel sorry for me, you can call 2 at 877-6162. 2396. Now, I'm still learning about all of these challenges. Wesley. I sat in with JJ and John this morning, and yesterday they invited me back. So I feel like that was some sort of badge of honor or initiation ritual. I'm not sure which it was. But it was fun. And we.
Wesley Wildmon: They are always fun.
Dr. Jessica Peck: They are always fun. We had some, some good jokes. Of course. That number again is 877-616-2396. And they explained to me the challenge this morning. There was a, add on challenge. But what challenge have we got now? And can you explain it for me and maybe everybody else who's new to the challenge?
Wesley Wildmon: We have a $25,000 challenge. Nope, that was yesterday. Oh, I have a different one for Thursday.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Okay. Did Walker give us a good one?
Wesley Wildmon: He did. He gave us a great one.
Dr. Jessica Peck: All right.
Wesley Wildmon: It's called a last chance challenge Thursday, 2 to 5pm Central Time. And here's. That's right. Just started. Okay, just started to 2pm to 5pm Central Time. Last chance challenge of $100,000. And what that means is there's been a group of financial supporters who have come together and given a lump stomp and said that we will give you. We're gifting you this amount during this hour, and we're, we're asking you to take this amount and challenge everyone out there to help, to help match that number. Oh, so 100,000 now they've already gifted the money.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Well, Yesterday was only 25.
Wesley Wildmon: It was only 25. And this one is $100,000.
Dr. Jessica Peck: So he just started. You can call in at 877-616-2396. That means that every gift that is called in now is going to be amplified and mean more.
Wesley Wildmon: That's exactly right. All the way up until 100,000. That's what they're. Yep, they gifted that. So they're challenging you because they understand, these financial supporters understand how much of an impact that AFR has had on their lives, their, their state and our country. from all, all throughout the year, not just seasonally, but 24, 7, 365 days of the year. They understand the Christian influence that AFR has had. In fact, when I said influence, that reminds me, there was a very specific poll in 2017 that came out that asked the question, which news outlets are. Which individual platforms were most influential in getting President Trump elected in 2020, in 2016, which, remember, that was Hillary versus
Dr. Jessica Peck: a long time ago.
Wesley Wildmon: A long time ago.
Dr. Jessica Peck: That feels like forever.
Wesley Wildmon: It does. And at that time, AFR was the number three most influential amongst Christians to get out to vote. And that included other secular platforms that were just conservative in general. But we were the number one Christian, Platform and the number three overall platform of getting Christians out to vote. And that's just a polling. So the influence is what I'm saying is that they understand, that's just one example that ah, people understand the impact we have. So we have so we have a challenge and they want, and our donors want a challenge.
Dr. Jessica Peck: 8776-162396-77616-2396 Here's a fun fact for you, Wesley. Maybe our listeners don't know. So I am a professor and I teach policy. That is my area of expertise and where I work, work mainly in the areas of influencing human trafficking. But you know, we see, I see a lot of students come in and my students come in, I poll them and you know what the number one word they use to describe their feelings about engaging in policy?
Wesley Wildmon: No clue. Bored? Tired.
Dr. Jessica Peck: you're in the right ballpark.
Wesley Wildmon: confused.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yes. The number one word is actually very specific. Dread.
Wesley Wildmon: Dread. That's close.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Read it. But you know what, when they finish and they see how much their voice matters, that is one of the amazing things about engaging in America today is that your voice does matter in the public square. And maybe, you know, maybe you're a busy mom at home, maybe you've got your own business, maybe you've got other things to attend to, but you really care. And that's why it's important to engage with organizations that share your values, that can advocate for you and behalf on behalf of you. And I'm grateful. One of the things that AFA did that I was, I was really jumping up and down and cheering about is a recent victory that you had with Apple.
Wesley Wildmon: Yes, yes, let's. Yeah. My brother Walker Wildmon.
Dr. Jessica Peck: This is amazing.
Wesley Wildmon: And AFA action together, that group and that staff, Jameson, Taylor, he's a part of that. These are some names you may see in an email, maybe you may recognize or hear on the radio. That group, we were AFA action. We were very influential and actually directly, directly influential.
Dr. Jessica Peck: It was all you.
Wesley Wildmon: Of getting Apple to recognize that ages 14 through 18 were minors as it relates to phone m verification age, verification on. On their Apple device. And now most people, unless you hadn't were following that or you mentioned it now most people would just assume that ages 14 through 18 are minors. Well of course because they are minors in every other age, every other phase of life when it comes to voting, alcohol, going to the movies and R rated movies, all these things. This age verification 18 and under is a minor well, in this case it wasn't. And so we got involved in it once we discovered it. And I'll give them, ultimately, I'll give them credit. However, they did push back for a couple weeks, but we finally broke through and made with common sense legislation or common sense reasoning, we were able to get them to change their mind. So that's a victory. That is a big thanks to AFA action.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Thanks to AFA action. So if you want to see more efforts like that supported. 877-616-2396. That's 877616,2396. Another thing I appreciate about AFA, Wesley, and being part of this organization is that AFA is about protecting children. There's so many policy things they have and right now in the public square and a policy, if you'll let me be a nerd for a minute here, put on my policy hat really what's being debated is two things the public is debating. Adult right to privacy and children's right to safety. That's really the balance here. And yes, we as adults, we want to have freedom, we want to have right to privacy, but to me, not at the expense ever of child safety. And I believe that we have smart enough people that we can come up with common sense. Just like you were talking about common sense solutions that balance those two things without sacrificing child safety, much like, you know, is really at risk in things like age barriers, verification or age of use on certain platforms and those kinds of things. So those are kinds of legislation that I'm following closely and that I know the AFA action is as well.
Wesley Wildmon: Absolutely. 8776-1623-9687-7616, 2396 or visit afr.net and if you are able to memorize that number. We've done our job. We've done our job. If you can memorize that number. That's right. Also too, you mentioned earlier about the. Was it drag, what was the word? Nagging or the teenagers fubbing the phone snubbing? No, the word, for getting involved in politics.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Oh, dread, dread, dread. Okay, I got you.
Wesley Wildmon: So dread. by the way, I'm. I have become each. The, older I get, the more patient and try and understanding of people that are not involved or that are. Most of the people that are not are usually 30 and under. You know, they've got their different stage of life. But when you start having kids and you start, and you start working full time and you realize that so much of Life is influenced or legislated from, your state government, your local government, your state government.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Oh, absolutely.
Wesley Wildmon: And we also believe, I'm, kind of rabbit trail here, but we also believe that all change starts locally. You want to start there 100%.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yeah.
Wesley Wildmon: But it works its way up. And you know, I've become patient. I think, I think if people are. If I've always said if people only care what you know, once they know that you care, and if you will listen to people and allow them to explain why they think it's dreading or judging, then you can begin to understand and explain to them how it does impact them. And so as you get older and you have kids and they start going to school, you'll realize that there is an area of life that God can use you to make a Christian influence. That's what it is for the Christian. That's what it is. We call it politics because that's a common word that everyone understands, regardless of where you stand. But really you're trying to make a Christian influence on an area of life that God has called you to. and so in the most simplest way is voting because you can pick. And also to the obvious, there is no perfect candidate. You're picking the best of the, of the, you know, you're picking the best of two choices in many cases. So. But that's, that's what we're called to do.
Dr. Jessica Peck: That number again is 8776-162396-87776-16-2396. We're just kicking off a hundred thousand dollar challenge. So here's another fun fact, Wesley. So my pawpaw, I had a, We've shared this before. We both had a pawpaw. my papa was very involved in civic engagement and he was the mayor for a long time and then he would sit on the city council, so he was eligible to run for the mayor again. And when I was first dating my husband, he was being installed as mayor. And so my husband came with me to this wearing in ceremony and they announced him and they said he won. It was like 60 something to 30 something.
Speaker B: Wow.
Dr. Jessica Peck: And my husband said, wow, that's a really great percentage. I said, it's also an actual number. Like that's how many people voted. So yes, it is a percentage, but that's how many people voted. He just looked at me and said, how many people live in this town?
Wesley Wildmon: Yes.
Dr. Jessica Peck: But yeah, you know, I was at the dining room table with my papa and I saw exactly the influence that he had and how important it was to have someone with integrity who has the heart of the people and listen. That's what we're all about here today. You can call in and join us, 877-616-2396. That's 877-616-2396. Or you can go to afr.net and you can donate online. We have a room full of volunteers here at Charathon who want to take your call. Get some time to know them, ask them where they're from, and tell them thanks so much for answering the phones for us. It's 877-616-2396. We'll see you right on the other side of this break.
: Candace talks about finding out she was pregnant. Thankfully, an ultrasound provided by preborn allowed her to hear her baby's heartbeat. The sonogram sealed the deal for me. My baby was like this tiny little spectrum of hope and I saw his heart beating on the screen and knowing that there's life growing inside, I mean that sonogram changed my life. I went from just Candace to mom. Thank you. To everybody that has given these gifts. You guys are giving more than money. You guys are giving love.
: PreBorn currently has clinics that do not have ultrasound machines. Would you consider a leadership gift and sponsor a machine today? These life Saving machines cost $15,000 more than most centers can afford. Your donation will save countless lives for years to come. Dial pound 250 and say the keyword baby or go to preborn.com afr you
Don Wildmon: sponsor good, clean, constructive programs. We'll go out of our way to buy your products. We appreciate it. You sponsor, immorality, vulgarity, profanity, we'll make the point not to buy your products and we'll tell our friends and our neighbors and ask them to do the same.
: Donald Wildmon founded the American Family Association. The year was 1977.
Don Wildmon: Our, bill folds have an off on on button. And as Christians, we have an obligation not to purchase products which we knowingly will go to help promote pornography and anti Christian, anti family values. You know what you're saying to me? You're saying to me, here's a choice. If you don't like it, turn it off. You're saying the same thing to me. No, you're telling. Yes you are. You're telling me that if I sit down and I don't like sexual infidelity and I don't like profanity and I don't like seeing somebody clobber somebody over the head, then forget it. Your continued support of the American Family
: association keeps us on the front lines of America's culture war.
Listener Story: M hi, I'm Kathi from Virginia. Since I've begun listening to American Family Radio for quite some time now, but very consistently now, each day it's been truly a blessing to my life and just really filled me with so much overwhelming love and knowledge and information about our Lord and God. And I'm just thankful and I praise him every day for all those he's using to, reach out to the world for his kingdom, for being able to receive their salvation. I thank God for American Family Radio. I truly do believe they are meant to be here for all of us to come to the Lord.
: Shareathon continues on American Family Radio. Call and pledge your support at 877-616-2396. That's 877-616-2396 or give [email protected] and help us love God and love people on American Family Radio.
Wesley Wildmon: We're back here for another segment of a, Share a thon here on American Family Radio at the last minute show, your support here. The last little bit of the doctor Nurse mom show here on American Flame Radio. You're coming up on the third year, is that right? Year three.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yes. Year three for me.
Wesley Wildmon: Yep.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yes. I am a toddler here in the AFA ecosystem. I've been here actually three years. Three years this month I think it is. And two and a half years on
Wesley Wildmon: the radio for those, for the doctor, Nurse mom listeners specifically. We need some last minute love. Call in 877-616-2396 or visit afr.net to show your finance to call in and show, and give your financial support to this program specifically and of course any other part of AFR that ministers to you. There's a lot of impact that we've had over the years both on an individual level, on a legislative level and on a cultural level. We've had a lot of victories there. Just, you know, one, one victory. That's a culture victory. That AFA was one of many that had a big, we've had a lot of victories over the last, I guess 18 months is the the men and women sports, the the gender, the men and women's restrooms, the wokeism. We've pushed back there and there was times, there was times where it felt like, you know, we were just yelling into the darkness or that, you know, no one was listening or whatever. But we stayed the course, along with other ministries. And we've had a lot of, companies come out in support of not allowing, well, men to go in women's restrooms or transgenders to go in women's restrooms. We've had a lot of victories in there, and they've come out publicly. here's another one. Walmart came out just a couple months back, maybe two months ago, and they said they are not going to sell abortion pills at their pharmacy under any circumstances. And they were able to say that for future, too. They didn't just say, for now, AFA Action was able to influence. AFA was able to influence them. We talked, with them a couple times over the phone, and they said, yes, we can make a statement up front that we're not going to sell abortion pills. And those types of conversations, those types of victories happen because of abortion listeners like yourself who financially support the work we do. Sure, you're mostly listening to afr, but there's so much more that goes on here that you help with. Like the two just. That's just two of many victories that we've been able to have recently.
Dr. Jessica Peck: That number again is 877-616-2396. That's 877-616-2396. You know, Wesley, you talked earlier about all, politics being local. And this is one of the things that I try to teach. And we. One of the assignments that we have is called Close to Home. And the students, my students will look at a policy issue that's close to home. And I think today that the honest truth is politics is pretty ugly. Oh, yes, there. I mean, there is a lot of infighting. There is a lot of behavior that is just not becoming to followers of Jesus. You know, it is true.
Wesley Wildmon: Very much so.
Dr. Jessica Peck: And I think that makes a lot of people just want to disengage. And there's some people who even wear that as a badge of pride. You know, like I. I don't stay ab. All of that. I stay away from all of that. But here's the problem. When you. When you disengage, there are people right this second, even as you and I are sitting here hosting this show. There are people on Capitol Hill In Washington, D.C. there are people in state capitals and state legislatures. There are legislators and staffers who are gathered right now writing laws, making policies that will deeply and personally impact you and your family. Whether that's issues of insurance coverage, issues of child safety. I mean, all the things that you kind of talked about and that's why, you know, we've, we've got to engage. We cannot give up and that's hard to do. And everybody is going to be called in a different way. The main thing you can do is vote. And that reminds me of I Voter guide.
Wesley Wildmon: Yes, I voter guide. They've been around. they used to be independent of us and then we purchased iva. we used to partner with them and then about three years ago we purchased it. We had, well, we were given the opportunity to purchase and we said absolutely. So we went from partnering with ivoter Guide to owning ivoterguide. That team has grown and they've been able to go into more than just general elections. They were able to go to state elections. We're also being involved in some cases where it makes sense. We're also getting involved in school boards. I don't know if you know, that's, that's an, that's a 2026, 2027, goal for them is to be involved in a couple more school boards where they can really make a big influence. And yeah, you know, back to your comment about it being, it seemed about it being ugly. It seems like in my lifetime I really started getting most involved. Like most people when you get married, start having kids and start paying bills, I would say about 2022 tax bills
Dr. Jessica Peck: will do that to you.
Wesley Wildmon: It'll make you really the first one I looked at. I called my mom, I said something's wrong, something's wrong here.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Huh?
Wesley Wildmon: but yeah, you know, you start getting involved more. And like I said about 24, when I was about 24 years old, I started you know, realizing more and more. And but since then you're right, it just seems like it gets increasingly worse. But what I'm reminded of in those moments, much like you reminded us, I'm reminded of the Christians born again God fearing people, that are already in politics. Like that's their, they're called to politics and I wouldn't want to leave them hanging as a voter when that, when they are or just as an encourager because I don't want them to get defeated and then they quit and then if they quit then there is no Christian influence in politics. Even as dark plus too, you know, as a Christian we're called to be an example to the non believers of what it looks like to profess and hold Christ and his word as a badge. And so as dark as it possibly could get, we have an opportunity to shine the light.
Dr. Jessica Peck: You reminded me of something. Love God, love people. Exactly. Just like Danny Gokey brought us in here saying that that number again is 877-616-239-687-76162396 or you can go to afr.net thank you so much to all of you who have given. We are in our last chance, a hundred thousand dollar challenge that as Wesley has just explained to me and to all of you, some faithful, listen. Some faithful givers and donors have donated a hundred thousand dollars and they you to give as well. And so you can do that at 877-616-2396. I'm glad you brought that up, Wesley, because one of the things, you know, for me, I've been walking Capitol Hill for a really long time now and I do, I see the discourse just decreasing, the language more course, just the mean spiritedness.
Wesley Wildmon: But you're right, they quit listening. But people aren't listening to each other. They're not letting people, they're not letting them finish or trying to understand before they have their next comment.
Dr. Jessica Peck: And it discourages good people from running because they think they don't want to put their family through that. And so to encourage good people running, they really do need some faithful support. And that is really important.
Wesley Wildmon: It is, speaking about, or changing subjects.
I write an appreciation letter to our listeners and our supporters
Dr. Jessica Peck: Okay.
Wesley Wildmon: our listeners and our supporters. I've had the privilege, exactly. You know, you don't know where I'm going yet. You have to say that.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Okay, all right, I'm following.
Wesley Wildmon: I've had the opportunity over the years. I've been here for 13, going on 14 years, and I've had the opportunity. I've close to 80 different events, different types of events. Close to.
Dr. Jessica Peck: That's four times as long as me.
Wesley Wildmon: But okay, think about this. Close to 15 to 16,000 donors I've met or shaken hands with or given a hug to or talked to. So I had the opportunity the other day to sit down and write my appreciation to obviously those listening right now, but also those that. Yeah, I wrote that. So I wrote it on the stand. And so here I'm gonna, I'm not gonna give all the things that I have learned about our listeners. It's long.
Dr. Jessica Peck: That's impressive.
Wesley Wildmon: There's foot. So one.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yeah, look at that. That's a lot of four.
Wesley Wildmon: There's four things that I highlighted.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Okay.
Wesley Wildmon: To encourage or to inspire our listeners. I'll give one and then I'll send y' all the link. Other four for people to go listen to.
Wesley: Our donors are extremely humble and do not ask for recognition
Dr. Jessica Peck: Okay. All right.
Wesley Wildmon: So I shared number one. On today's issues the other day. Here's number two, the second thing that I learned about our donors, that our donors are extremely humble and that they give selflessly and do not ask for recognition. Because I've met many donors, those who hold big corporation positions and those who are retired. I've met those that are very financially wealthy and those who are not yet. Whatever the situation is, the donors that I've met are extremely approachable and don't want any recognition. So the human humility that I get from our listeners, our supporters, is something that I highlighted in my, ah. In my article of appreciation for their. For their sacrifice through prayer, through financial support and their activism. And I'll send this link over there, and y' all can.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yeah, we'll share it. We'll post it in the show notes. I agree. Our. Our listeners are so humble. I. I can't remember if I shared this, today when we were talking Wesley, or when I was talking with JJ and John. But we did have a listener call in who was really moved by a program that we aired last week. It woman named Lily Ricci, who runs Iran, Iran Ministries, Iran Alive Ministries, and she helps women in Iran. And the caller who called in said that she was so moved by her story and by her testimony. It had been so transformational, she was moved to give a generous gift. And that is extremely wonderful. You know, we talked earlier this week, Wesley, about on Fridays on our show here on the Dr. Nurse Mama Show. By the way, that's where I use my professor brain, my hands on nursing experience, experience and my heart as a mom to prescribe hope for healthy families. Because I do believe that there is hope even in today's world, that God has equipped you for such a time as this. And we've had some great letters come in from listeners every Friday. We talk about a healthy habit. Yesterday, you brought in a huge box of letters that you've been collecting over the last eight years. A very unimpressive box, by the way, filled with impressive letters. So there was a little bit of a disconnect there, but you're a guy, so I'm gonna. I'm gonna cut you some slack there. But, you know, I think about some of the letters we've gotten. Two come to mind. One is from a, grandfather who listened to our show that we did with Sally Burke, who's president of Moms in Prayer International. Now, this is a group that organizes moms to pray for schools. And this grandfather wrote in and said, hey, I am not a mom. And my grandkids are in school, but I can pray. And I have started inviting other grandads, other dads into my living room. And we're using the moms in prayer. Prayer. Yeah, to pray for schools. It was amazing. We also had another one who. And the young lady, a millennial who called in and. Or, wrote in. She wrote me a letter and talked about how during one of our Christmas show giveaways, we have a really big Christmas party. By the way, Wesley, you and I are wearing red and green. Yeah, I don't feel like we didn't plan that, but, you know, I'm always down for Christmas. Yeah. Like always. I love my listeners. Know. I. I may or may not.
Wesley Wildmon: So do you start Christmas and then before Thanksgiving? Please tell me.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Wesley. Okay, Wesley, I. Okay, see, now, for my regular listeners, here's the problem.
Wesley Wildmon: That's not a good.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Wesley. I still have a Christmas tree up in my house. yeah, I'll send you a picture. I. I really thought I'd have it down by April 1st. I know my board officers, you wouldn't make that up.
Wesley Wildmon: It's like the writers of the New Testament. No, you wouldn't make that up.
Dr. Jessica Peck: No. And on April 1, I think people thought it was April Fools, but I'm telling you, we've had a lot going on. I've. I just had a lot. I've been facing a lot this last.
Wesley Wildmon: Does it still have ornaments? I know I'm taking you off track here.
Dr. Jessica Peck: It does.
Wesley Wildmon: Okay.
Dr. Jessica Peck: And sometimes I still plug it in.
Wesley Wildmon: There's some good memories on with ornaments.
Dr. Jessica Peck: There are. Would you say that again for my husband, who's listening and saying, when are you gonna do.
Wesley Wildmon: Well, it's not my house with my. With my wife and the tree either, so it's easy to say. Yeah, yeah.
Dr. Jessica Peck: See? But I won't let him touch the ornaments because, you know, like, I gotta put them away there for Edgel. Like, I'll be careful. And, yes, I am. I'm ashamed and, you know, but, some. But somehow not. But I'm just being transparent, because sometimes people say, oh, you must have it all together. Your life must be perfect. No, I still have a Christmas tree up in my house. I don't even know where I was going with it.
Wesley Wildmon: I'm about to mess you up again. And I'm gonna make for sure you don't remember where you're going with this question.
Dr. Jessica Peck: No. Okay, well, please go to the phone, though. Help me out here. 877-6166-622396-87776-162396. If you are a defender of Christmas, if you still have a tree up in your house, that's gonna be three calls.
Wesley Wildmon: Okay.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Okay. If your name is Jessica. 8 7, 7, 6, 1 6, 23 9, 6. All right, go ahead, Wesley. I'm ready.
Wesley Wildmon: Question. With the ornaments.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Oh, yes.
Wesley Wildmon: Tree. One of ornaments. Where they all match or they all have a symbol of a. Of, you know, whether that be a birthday or, anniversary or your what? You know, they're all complicated.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Question.
Wesley Wildmon: Okay. Are they mixed?
Dr. Jessica Peck: Which tree?
Wesley Wildmon: Oh, okay. The. The main quote. The quote. The main tree.
Dr. Jessica Peck: The main tree or the main. Main tree?
Wesley Wildmon: Okay. Wow.
Dr. Jessica Peck: All right. Yeah. Okay. See, I have this. I collect Christmas, trees from people who give them away. yes. Okay. So I do have both.
Wesley Wildmon: Confirm this.
Dr. Jessica Peck: She is. Okay. All right, I'm going to her out of here very quickly. No questions, no comment, people. But I do have your main.
Wesley Wildmon: Main tree.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I do have both. I have. I have a tree that is just aesthetic, that's just beautiful, and has ornaments that, you know, just remind me the season. Yes. And then I've got all of our kids ornaments.
Wesley Wildmon: But.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Oh, let me tell you this.
Wesley Wildmon: What do you. What do you call that? Symbolic tree or traditional.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yeah, nostalgic tree. A traditional tree. But here, let me tell you about my favorite ornaments.
Wesley Wildmon: Wesley.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I'll tell you about this, because this is my other favorite subject besides Christmas is my granny. So my granny. And leaving a heritage of faith. And in letters. Okay. When I got married, she came to my, She came to my wedding shower right before I got married, and she came in with this plastic tub, and it had a letter on top. And when I opened the letter, it said, she's a crafty lady, very talented lady. She paints, does all kinds of things. And she said, I have made you an ornament every year of your life for every Christmas, so that you have ornaments to put on your tree that are so sentimental when you first get married.
Wesley Wildmon: She gave it to you all at once.
Dr. Jessica Peck: She gave them to me all at once. I didn't know that she was doing it. So the. Everyone is handcrafted. And these are not like, These are not Faberge eggs. Right. You're probably like, okay, wait, what is that?
Wesley Wildmon: I was thinking that. But I don't want to take you off of this topic because you're cruising here.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I'm cruising. That's right. And I'm. We're cruising with this challenge. 8, 7, 7, 6, 1, 6, 2, 3, 9, 6. $100,000 $100,000. 877-6616-2396. If volunteers, if anybody calls and tells you merry Christmas, would you wave your hand at me? Because I really Want to know. 877-616. Don't tell me if nobody does M2396. But these were not expensive, extravagant ornaments. We're talking about like reindeer made out of clothespin or a Santa Claus made out of a crushed Coke can. And I will tell you, these are the most cherished ornaments that I have. I cannot put them out without crying because they have her handwriting on them for every year that she made them. It was such a beautiful tradition, and kids really want that. That's not something that AI can generate.
Wesley Wildmon: No, they can't. My mom, she didn't hand do them, but she gives us an ornament every year that's really special. That's special even up to like 36 years old.
Dr. Jessica Peck: That's encouraging for the non pinterest moms like me.
Wesley Wildmon: So it's one ornament, and it could be anything. It could be something from where we went on vacation. In fact, I tell you what, I got her an ornament because I knew how much it meant to her when I went to Greece.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I just got back an apology for not keeping her birthday cards.
Wesley Wildmon: No, she didn't even know that.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I'm sorry. I mean, I mean, we're talking about Wesley. Okay. All right.
Wesley Wildmon: But I just got back from Greece a couple weeks back. A couple weeks ago, I went to Footsteps of Paul. We took 75 of our financial supporters. We got to go see, every stop and more. There's a lot. There's also a lot of just history.
Dr. Jessica Peck: He wrote two thirds of the NewSong Testament.
Wesley Wildmon: That's right. So got to see. And I got her in order tournament, from Greece.
Dr. Jessica Peck: You did? Oh, that's really sweet. Way to go bragging on m myself here. Well, let's, let's brag on our listeners. Thanks so much for calling in 877-616-2396. That's 877-616-2396. Or you can go to afr.net this is our last chance challenge, right, Wesley?
Wesley Wildmon: Last chance challenge. That's a mouthful. Last chance challenge of a hundred thousand dollars. So call in at 877-616-2396 or visit afr.net and help us reach our goal here at Sharathon. We'll be back after this short break.
Dr. Jessica Peck: We will. As people are throwing stuff at us. What is going on we'll tell you when we get back.
: Vice President Emeritus Buddy Smith.
Buddy Smith: Yeah, Don just stopped and just came out of my office one day and said, I've been thinking, you know, he just said, I've been thinking, said, what about. Said, I think we need a Sunday morning praise. And, he said, we just. And we didn't have anything on this station. We just didn't have. And it was a couple hours, I think, as a matter of fact, it might have been three hours. I think it was. And we did that about a month. And I remember he stopped by my office one day and he said, you know, I've been thinking. He said, you know, most of our listeners there in church on Sunday morning. I said, yes, sir. He said, well, what about Sunday evening? Would you be willing to give it, Give that a try? I said, oh, absolutely. So we moved it Sunday evening, and we called it Sunday Evening Praise. And, it started at 6, PM went until 10pm and 4 hours and mark. It was back in the days that, you know, it was all CDs. Nothing was computerized in terms of, songs on the hard drive. So we had the rack of CDs. And then the spots were not fired automatically either. They. They were on carts. And so. And that's all. I didn't do radio. I didn't do this during the week. That was not my job. so it was just Sunday night. So I was in there and everything was kind of geared to the telephone. So when there were alarms, you know, as the network grew, then, you know, whether it was a tower light or the temperature in one of the. The studio, you know, the phone would start ringing. And so in the midst of pulling the songs and the carts and all that, you know, then I was over here trying to clear the alarms and whatever. I mean, it. It really got interesting. And then on top of all that, I remember one funny story. One night, all that was going on, it was a weather event happening somewhere. It always was. And so Brother Don called. He said, well, Buddy, he said, you think anybody's listening? I said, brother Don, I sure hope so. And he said, well, let's find out. Let's just throw that 800 number out there. And, he said, now you tell him you don't have time to visit. And he said, you just tell them just you in the studio. So if they would just give you their first name and where they're calling from. And I said, don, I said, I don't know if I can do that. I Said, you know, I got all this going. Oh, yeah, yeah, you can. So anyway, I threw the number out there and of course all the lines immediately lit up. And so I'm, you know, trying to make little notes, keep things going. Well, about the 10th or 12th caller, I forget it was Brother Don. Well, are you getting any calls? Said, yes, sir, I am. Okay, okay, I'll call you back later. Anyway, just a funny.
Listener Story: This, is Sandy from Tyler, Texas. I don't know what I'd do without an afr. Today's Issues is my favorite show. I love to hear the guys discussing what's going on from God's point of view. I've gone to Israel, Washington, D.C. many retreats, and toured the Tupelo office twice. Everything is top notch. I love Rick Green and Walker Wildmon on the Core, Pastor Jeff Schreve on Real Truth for Today and by the way, as great guests exploring the word Those guys are awesome. The Hamilton Corner and Washington Watch. And I especially love when people call in with questions or comments. The cherry on the top is Trivia Friday. I'm laughing. Going down the road. I could say more, but. Thank you. Thank you. God bless you. You're always in my prayers.

Wesley Wildmon: And we are back. It is the last 18 minutes of our hour. Dr. Jessica Peck and myself, Wesley Wildmon here. And you know, there's a lot of things in life that God calls us to do that can be very difficult. I'm about. I'm about to do a little guilting here. Okay.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Of me?
Wesley Wildmon: No, just like, what did I just. Our listeners, okay? There's a lot of things that God calls us to do that can be very difficult, could be embarrassing, could, could cost us some things.
Dr. Jessica Peck: This is a little discouraging.
Wesley Wildmon: But there are times that God gives an opportunity to do something and it's easy. It's a layup, okay? It does not cost as much. It does not embarrass us, or whatever. And it's easy. And calling in, calling in and giving a donation of any amount. If, if AFR has blessed you, if AFR has blessed you in any way, calling in is not a hard thing. Now, I'm not, I'm not. If you got financial issues, you're dealing with. That's not what I'm talking about. But if you're. If you're looking around going, man, I wish I would have stopped and shared the gospel with this person, or I wish that I would have, I wish I would have stood and was courageous in this area. Well, an opportunity is right now is to call in and bless those who have blessed you by calling in at 877-616-2396 or visit afr.net a gift of any amount would be much, much appreciated so that we can continue the work that we're doing. There's currently a last chance challenge of a hundred thousand dollars. I had to read it, though. Otherwise, if I just say it fast without looking at it.
Dr. Jessica Peck: And we have rubber chickens getting thrown at us, too, while you're trying to
Wesley Wildmon: read shot across the room. Oh, we're having a great time. Like I said, by the time we get toward the. The last program, on the last day bit, we start. We start really gelling, and that's what we're doing. We got gelling so much. We got rubber chickens. Now, we had. We had a caller.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yes. Oh, I want to say this. I want to say this. Let me say this, Wesley. Okay, give this to me.
Wesley Wildmon: Tossing it over.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Oh, yeah, toss me. Toss me a easy one here. Because we are looking. Wesley, you and I are looking at a big screen in here that's telling us the amount that we've raised. But there's a number underneath the amount that matters just as much and actually a lot more. It is the number of individual callers who have called in. We are approaching 15,000. Thousand callers, which is just. Those are 15,000 people who have said, yes, we want to give. We want to support households.
Wesley Wildmon: I look at that. Yes, because a lot of those represent their kids, their family, their spouse.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Exactly. So that's even more people. And you can call in at 877-616-2396. That's 8777-616-2396. Here's what I want to say, because one of those. One of those numbers up there. One of those people is a man, a gentleman from Rogers, Arkansas. He just called in and spoke with one of our volunteers. And Wesley, because what he said, I can't even.
Wesley Wildmon: I know that he did.
Dr. Jessica Peck: He said, listen, my mama has a Christmas tree up year round and has had. Uh-huh. Now, I don't think he said how he felt about that. There's the fact that she picked it up.
Wesley Wildmon: And he called and gave A gift.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Oh, Merry Christmas, Miss sir from Rogers, Arkansas. Merry Christmas to your sweet mama. If you love Christmas. Look, Wesley and I are dressed in red and green here. You know how much I love Christmas. Every year we have on our show, the Doctor Nurse, Mama show, we have an annual Christmas party. Now, this is a virtual Christmas party that anybody can listen into. It is a massive giveaway.
Wesley Wildmon: I don't know how many things we
Dr. Jessica Peck: gave away last time. I'm looking at my producer, Stephanie here. We gave away tons of stuff. I mean, she came. She came with a huge cart full of stuff, and we just gave away stuff all the whole hour. It was so much fun. And we're able to hear from our listeners. So we really celebrate Christmas big, and we're celebrating Seraphon really big here today. 877-616-2396. Just do me a favor. If you want to join in, just call and tell these volunteers Merry Christmas. Just. Just troll them a little bit for me with me and say, hey, maybe some of them will love it. Maybe someone would say, it's not Thanksgiving yet. It's okay.
Wesley Wildmon: Those kind of people feel sorry for you.
Dr. Jessica Peck: You know what I say to those kind of people, Wesley? I say, bless your heart.
Wesley Wildmon: Bless your heart.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Bless your heart. Because I am from the South. We say that the number is 877-616-2396.
Wesley Wildmon: Please, please help us out. This is the last. This is the last 10 minutes. Yes, but then this. But this is the last day total all the way up until 5pm Central Time. We have a last chance challenge of $100,000. We're asking you to call in at 8776-1623-9687-7616, 2396. We have a whole radio lineup that's live. most of which the producers and the, radio host are here at our headquarters at afr. And then others, they syndicate or they produce their program from where they live. But it's live. It's live radio every day from 6pm or 6am to 6pm live radio every day. And that cost a lot of money. it's hard to imagine unless we pause twice a year and tell you all the things that has to take place in order for you to benefit from our radio content. We have about a 15, staff engineer department who's responsible for 166 towers.
Dr. Jessica Peck: They're way smarter than me.
Wesley Wildmon: 30 different stalls. It is 30 different states. We've got, obviously we talked about this yesterday with our. With tech in 2026. The what's required to just to keep up and just to stay up to date with our technology. We've got an IT department of about 10 or 15. So it's that's just a third of what our staff. We 130 staff working across our AFA, headquarters here. And it cost a lot of money for us to keep what we're doing. You may some people benefit from one area of the ministry more than the other, or maybe they're most familiar one area more than the other. But there's so much that we're doing that let's say you mostly read or stand and that's where we minister to you. Well, by giving us a gift, you're helping ministry to other people that benefit in another way. Whether that be American Family Studios which we provision produce a lot of video content. Very educational, very informing and very inspiring. They do a lot of very inspirational work. They do a lot of redemption stories. their impact series. Look at that. Going up 877-61623. You're on 968-776-162396 or visit 84.net I did hear that. Okay, that one, that one was a little that I had to be pretty close. That was loud.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yeah.
Wesley Wildmon: But our impact series, our video, American Family Studios produces about quarterly an impact series where we leave Chupel in Mississippi and we go to an individual, most of which no one has heard their name of, but they are but they made dramatic Christian influence or Christian impact in their local community at a local level and we, we record and allow them to share their story and then we make it into a 25 minute documentary that we share with people about how people at a local level are making it a national impact.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Wesley, we just featured one of those guests on our show. Listen, before I tell you about that, just like we have share a thon twice a year, my producer reminded me we also have Christmas twice a year we do a Christmas in July show because why not? I mean if you grew up in church, do you remember the Christmas in August? Does anybody have that? No, it's only one.
Wesley Wildmon: Good.
Caroline: Okay.
Don Wildmon: All right.
Wesley Wildmon: Okay.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Because that's all that people can take. I think. You know those after Thanksgiving people that I love. I love you after Thanksgiving people. You can call in at 877-616-2396. That's 877-616-2396.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
Help Wesley and Jessica in our last few minutes on the last day of Sharathon in our last chance challenge $100,000 challenge. But, yes, we just had. So this was actually, I don't want to say fun, because the topic wasn't fun, but it was special, I guess you can say that. We featured Heidi Olsen, who is also a pediatric nurse like myself. She's a sexual assault nurse examiner. She was, on the show, and she's in episode five of the Impact series talking about child abuse prevention. And April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. So I've been talking about this on my show. I really encourage listeners to go out there and to see that, because we have to shift from being scared of the strangers on the street who are going to abduct our children, which, of course, we still have to be vigilant and careful about that. But there are strangers coming into our homes now through social media platforms, through AI that really, you know, the enemy seeks to steal and kill and destroy. But we have not been given a spirit of fear. We have a spirit of power and love and a sound mind. And that's one of the things that we talk about on the program.
Wesley Wildmon: And we're going to continue to talk about those issues, and we're going to come at it in a way of informing you, equipping you, but also activating you in your faith. And that's part of our mission at afa. We're going to continue to do that. We ask for your support for those that are able to do it. You can call in at 877-616-2396 if you are unable to do it, to do that at this moment. There are two other ways that you can help us continue the work we're doing. One, and I say the most simple. But we get distracted. You can pray for that. We make good decisions. Pray that AFA makes good decisions. And number two, we ask that you would be active in the few things each month that we challenge you with through our email. Through our email. There's a couple times a month we say, hey, would you do this? Would you get involved here? Would you do that? And when you are able to do those things, be active in the things we ask you to, because we're following the issues. And secondly, pray for us. Those are two other areas that you can help us out. Even if this is not a time in your life or in this moment that you can sacrifice any finances because it is a sacrifice for the 14,629 families represented. Amen to that. That is a sacrifice. Any amount. It is. And so I appreciate that. I recognize that. But if you're unable to do that. Please help us in those other two areas as well.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yep. We definitely see the cost of gas, the cost of groceries. Let me tell you, I've had two teenage boys in my house trying to. To feed them requires a lot of sustenance for sure. But you know, we've talking about things we love Wesley today. We. I love Christmas. I love sharing.
Wesley Wildmon: Really? I hadn't heard that yet.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I really do. See, I just wanted to get it in there one more time. Just one more time. But one of the things that I talked with JJ and John this morning that I love is I love being a Texas native. I do. I'm really kind of a Little bit obnoxious about it but it has been so fun to live in.
Wesley Wildmon: Can support that.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I. Yes.
Wesley Wildmon: Any trouble with that.
Dr. Jessica Peck: And all of the astronauts in Artemis. It's been amazing to see. I don't know if you've been following the news, but really touching to see scripture read those images that are coming back of the earth. I. I think of you know so many scriptures about. About God writing that the foundations of the world.
Wesley Wildmon: Heavens declare the glory of the Lord.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yes, the heavens declare the glory of God. Exactly. And it was really sweet. You saw one of the One of the astronauts, Reed Wiseman, dedicating a special place on the moon and naming it after his late wife Carol who passed away from cancer. Those things are just really exciting and those are the kinds of things that we like to see that we can get united behind.
Wesley Wildmon: Oh yeah.
Dr. Jessica Peck: But we would love to see you united around this phone number. 877-616-2396. That's 877-616-2396.
How many astronauts are there? Like is it just the ones at NASA?
So Wesley, J.J. and John told me this morning they've never met an astronaut. Have you ever met an astronaut? Astronaut?
Wesley Wildmon: No. And if I had I wouldn't know.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Really?
Wesley Wildmon: I mean yeah, cuz I. I never. But. And there. How many by the.
Dr. Jessica Peck: That's a question for you.
Wesley Wildmon: How many astronauts are there? Like is it just the ones at NASA or there other one?
Dr. Jessica Peck: Like it is a very.
Wesley Wildmon: I sound stupid. I just. I don't know anything here. Okay.
Dr. Jessica Peck: So that's okay. We've already We. We.
Wesley Wildmon: We're trading here on a good day.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Ah, exactly.
Wesley Wildmon: With tutoring I could. So, so how many astronauts?
Dr. Jessica Peck: I couldn't tell you how many there are but I can tell you it's an extremely program, very difficult program. But here's a fun fact. Astronaut means star sailor. Not is like nautical. Astro is stars in heaven. So they're star sailors.
Wesley Wildmon: You've already lost me, but go ahead.
Dr. Jessica Peck: All right. Okay. But it is really fun and we are definitely praying for their re entry. I think they're supposed to come back tomorrow night, around 7:00, clock central time, I think is when it's scheduled. But stay tuned. I think the world is watching that.
Wesley Wildmon: There's another Bible verse, the, the Obvious1, Genesis 1:1. God created the heavens and the earth. Yep. And so those are passages of scripture that just are affirmed or just, reminded of for the Christian. When we see the images like you mentioned, I have seen a couple of them. I've read about more of the images than I've seen. So I have to go back and get caught up on the images that are being released.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Oh, you'll have to look at it. It is absolutely incredible. And you know, I share. I have the privilege of being married to a rocket scientist who thinks it's funny that, that people think I'm the smart one because he is a literal rocket scientist. But it's been great to be with you today, Wesley.
Wesley Wildmon: I've enjoyed, I've enjoyed our couple of days together on the radio. Thank you. And any last second things. Before I mention our last chance challenge,
Dr. Jessica Peck: call in and give us one last Merry Christmas. Come on, you people. I know there's people out there who are waiting to have that first pumpkin spice latte. Call in. What's the number, Wesley?
Wesley Wildmon: The number is 877-616-2396 or visit afr.net for our last chance challenge of $100,000. That's 877-616-2396 to visit afr.net again. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much for hanging in there with us and for your financial support and the work that we're doing here.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I've enjoyed sitting in with the principal watching over my shoulder. It's been great. Wesley.
Wesley Wildmon: Enjoyed it.
