Darius Williams, a teacher at Phillis Wheatley High School Teacher in Houston, TX, went viral for breaking down emotionally during a video he recorded on his lunch break in which he lamented that seniors in his class were unable to read two paragraphs and write a sentence on the 2nd day of school.

What are we doing if high school seniors are showing up at the beginning of the school year unable to read and write.

Illiteracy is a multifaceted problem, one that government is ill-suited to address maximally. Parents are best for our children’s formation.
