A pair of Lincoln, NE families are legally challenging the government school monopoly for being an unconstitutional machine that substitutes government speech for parental speech. The plaintiffs argue that education “consists mostly in speech,” and parents—not government bureaucrats—have the liberty to determine what their children hear.

In Jacobsen v. Spellerbergrequire them to finance government educational speech they’ve rejected by removing their children from that system.

Having rejected government educational speech, why should they be compelled to finance it?
