According to a recent survey conducted by Redfield and Wilson strategies on behalf of Newsweek, nearly half of millennials—25 to 34 year olds—believe “misgendering” a person should be a criminal offense.
That’s right 44% of the millennial respondents think “referring to someone by the wrong pronoun should be punished with jail time. 31% of millennials disagreed with that idea. But, alarmingly, the remaining 25% said they “didn’t know” what they thought about the idea.
The land of the free has cultivated an upcoming generation that embraces thought policing. We’ve entered Huxley’s “Brave New World.”
