Chuck Schumer described the SAVE Act, which simply requires photo I.D. to register to vote and to vote, as “Jim Crow 2.0.” That is a flat lie.
83% of the American people support voter I.D. That includes 71% of Democrat voters, 95% of Republicans, as well as 76% of Black voters, 82% of Latino voters, and 85% of white voters. Support for voter I.D. has increased from 76% of the American electorate in 2018 to 83% of the electorate in 2025.
Simply put, voter I.D. is not Jim Crow and it’s not controversial.
