God’s word shaped how Americans understood freedom, law, covenant, human dignity, and self-government. Even those who were not orthodox Christians were influenced by the biblical worldview that permeated colonial America.

But, what happens when biblical literacy disappears? My friend Wil Addison always says, we when make less of Christ we inevitably amplify everything else.

If we want to stop our societal balkanization where we hyper-focus and divide over things like ethnicity, class, and ubiquitous politicization, we must repent welcome God to the place of preeminence in our hearts and His word to the center of our lives.

Christ must be our treasure.
