President Trump has renamed Lake Ontario to Lake America

Steve Jordahl well, guess what? President Trump is renaming things again. you remember a while back, he renamed the Gulf of, Mexico to the Gulf of America?

Ed Vitagliano Absolutely.

Steve Jordahl Well, he has taken aim at Lake Ontario and has renamed it to Lake America. Google has, changed its maps, and, Apple Maps has not.

Ed Vitagliano so are they in trouble with the president?

Steve Jordahl I don't know, but he's renaming things.

Tim Wildmon And then how can you rename, a Great Lake? Because isn't the lake half Canadian, half US?

Ed Vitagliano Well, that's why we need them to become our 51st state, so. Just kidding.

Steve Jordahl Well.

Tim Wildmon What? Are you serious?

Tim Wildmon You serious, Clark and Then of course,

Steve Jordahl the, State Department follows up with, a tweet that says, we're sorry, we dead named Lake Ontario. It's supposed to be Lake America. So. Yes, I'm serious.

Tim Wildmon How do you go about renaming a Great Lake? What's the process?

Steve Jordahl I think you put a presidential, memo out that says, oh, that's all you gotta do, apparently, because he did that to, Lake, or the Gulf of America, which is now the Gulf of America, not the Gulf of Mexico. okay, well, you.

Ed Vitagliano That, that's, you've got, that's. You got Toronto on one side of it. So to your point.

Tim Wildmon What was my point? Did I need to go out of the room, come back in here so I can remember what my point was?

Ed Vitagliano That you get that it's half Canadian.

Tim Wildmon That's what I'm saying. A Great Lake is half Canadian. So it's on Canadian. right.

Steve Jordahl I doubt the Canadians are going to refer to it as Lake America.

Tim Wildmon Well, listen, Lake of America or Lake America.

Ed Vitagliano Lake America, I think Rochester is, and let's see, Buffalo's located on, Lake Erie.

Tim Wildmon What a petty man we have in the White House.

Ed Vitagliano Oh, you shouldn't have said that.

Tim Wildmon Why not? Why not? That doesn't mean I don't disqualify everything he does.

Ed Vitagliano Right.

Tim Wildmon He makes a lot of great decisions for America, but he is a petty man. naming it. He gets mad at Canada, so he renames a Great Lake. Like that has, like, like that has anything to do with a serious trade disagreement.

Ed Vitagliano Right?

Tim Wildmon You just want to stick your thumb in the eye of our friends in Canada by saying, oh, yeah, you're not going to become 51st state. We're going to. I'll show you, I'll rename a Great Lake.

Ed Vitagliano Well, what is the, leader of Ottawa got to say about that? didn't he put up a big billboard or something?

Steve Jordahl Doug Ford, and he said, make no mistake, Lake Ontario is and always will be Lake Ontario. Steven Crawford, who is. I think he's an Ontarian official. Some Ontario government agency websites pull map data directly from Google Maps. Following recent changes by Google, were actively reviewing our websites to make sure they identify Lake Ontario by its correct name, Lake Ontario. And by the way, that wasn't the, This kind of flew under the radar. This happened as well over the weekend. and, we'll just let this one stand, by itself, if you don't mind. This is cut 15.

If a Republican wins the White House, some of this will get reversed

Speaker E And finally, sir, in this executive order, we're also Changing the name of the Canada geese as per your request. They will now be known throughout the world as Donald Ducks, which is a more suiting name given that they now live in Lake America and not Canada with the rest of those losers. Donald Ducks are now an American species, and they're already happily migrating to our shores as we speak.

Ed Vitagliano Who is a. Oh, AI, was it,

Tim Wildmon who was it the other day who said, said, that next thing we were going to do is change Canadian bacon to American Bacon?

Steve Jordahl Yeah, he might. I don't know.

Ed Vitagliano I'm not a big Canadian bacon fan anyway. To me, that's just basically ham. Ah, bacon should be crispy and come in strips with you, brother. Yeah, well, look, to your, to your point, this, this is, this is not going to last past the Trump administration. if a Republican wins the White House in 28, I think all this stuff would probably get reversed. I'm not sure about a Republican.

Tim Wildmon You said a Republican. You mean to say Democrat?

Ed Vitagliano No, either. Well, if it's a Democrat, it's for sure going to get reversed. A Republican might reverse the. I mean, this is official, right? This. President Trump said Lake America. Yeah, that'll get reversed. I'm not sure about, the Gulf of America. I'm not sure about that. But these, these kinds of things are mere. They seem to be window dressing. I don't think, I don't think most Americans care about what we call the Gulf of Mexico or Lake Ontario.

Steve Jordahl So President Obama renamed Mount McKinley.

Tim Wildmon Not the same thing. Yeah, the Gulf of America. Gulf of Mexico. Okay, whatever. But I'm talking, What I'm talking about is when you're in a serious discussion, about trade with, our friends from the north, Canadians, why poke them in the eye? Why, why say I'm going to rename a great lake if you don't do what I want to do? You should be the 51st state. Anyway, saying stuff like that is so unnecessary and not helpful to the discussion of a serious, on a serious topic, to say to the Canadians, and Fred could vouch for this, you know, you need to become the 51st state is, is humiliating, is trying to humiliate them as a nation. It's, it's, it's, it's, So, hey, if people want to say I'm messing with God's anointed here, President Trump, and I shouldn't say anything critical of him or else I'm risk enlightening.

Ed Vitagliano No, I don't like this either. I don't. I just Like I said, it's window dressing. and you, you know, you met is m. Interesting. You mentioned President Obama changing the name of Mount McKinley. That was to have revert back to the name given by the natives of that. Of that part of the country. Well, Lake Ontario is named after the Ontario Indians. In fact, I think most of the Great Lakes, the Huron, Michigan, now Lake Superior is different, but, you may get some pushback from those who want to keep the Native American the name, honoring the native peoples of that area.

Tim Wildmon Now, next story. Steve, we need to move on.

Steve Jordahl Donald, Trump also renamed Fred. We're now supposed to call him Fred America.

Ed Vitagliano Fred.

Steve Jordahl It was Fred Jackson, but now it's Fred America.

Ed Vitagliano Fred America. That's funny. You know, we could, we, we, we could, we could see how Fred reacts to that.

California legislature is pushing a bill to recognize two Islamic holidays

Steve Jordahl All right, moving, along, California has. Is pushing a bill through its legislature on the way to Governor Gavin Newsom's desk that will recognize.

Tim Wildmon Still governor.

Steve Jordahl Yeah.

Tim Wildmon Seems like he's been governor for 25 years. I've been hearing Gavin Newsom. Gavin Newsom.

Ed Vitagliano He was mayor of San Francisco, wasn't he?

Ed Vitagliano So, I mean, he's been in the political eye for a long time.

Steve Jordahl Yeah.

Tim Wildmon All right.

Steve Jordahl anyway, this bill would recognize two Islamic holidays, put two holidays on the calendar, the state calendar, which would allow state employees to use their paid, holidays to take those times off. And public schools and colleges would also be closed for that holiday. It is Eid Al Fatar and Eid El Adha. These are two.

Tim Wildmon he's running for Senate in Michigan. Yeah, yeah, that last one you said,

Ed Vitagliano what was his name? Eid Al. What was that?

Steve Jordahl It's a.

Ed Vitagliano that's, that's kind of a famous Three Stooges thing.

Steve Jordahl That's it. Well, the one is, the festival. We're breaking the fast of Ramadan. The other is a festival, a sacrifice which commemorates the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice Isaac in obedience to God.

Ed Vitagliano All right, so I'm going to pivot from that. California's just goofball central. I'm, gonna petition Tim that we need to have more Christian holidays here at AFA and holidays honoring the real heroes of American history, the Italian ones. We don't have Columbus Day off. We don't should.

Tim Wildmon We do not Columbus Day off.

Ed Vitagliano I think we should have Columbus Day off. Listen, we're gonna be anti woke.

Tim Wildmon I tell you what we have. If we have about five more national holidays, we won't be getting mail at all. Huh? And you won't be able to bank.

Ed Vitagliano 51st state. As long as there's a tax break, I'm good. But what you should do, what you should say is what your dad would have said if I brought that up. he would have said, well, go ahead, take Columbus Day off. Just don't come back in the next day.

Florida has a new rule that says welfare cash cannot be used for illegal purchases

All right.

Steve Jordahl Back in April, the state of Florida put in enforce a rule that, that said that if you receive supplements, from basically welfare for food, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance, you can't buy soda or energy drinks or candy or such. Well, they now have a new rule that will take effect sometime soon that says with welfare cash, you cannot now buy tobacco, alcohol, tattoos, body piercings, theme, park admission. You can't buy video games or porn or gambling.

Ed Vitagliano People were using welfare for that.

Steve Jordahl Oh yeah, apparently because they decided.

Tim Wildmon How do you keep them from doing that?

Steve Jordahl Well, you. The welfare is spent with an EBT card. And you just deny.

Tim Wildmon I thought it already didn't work for alcohol or tobacco.

Steve Jordahl It didn't. well, soda it didn't. Alcohol, and tobacco apparently is now coming online to be banned.

Ed Vitagliano I didn't know you could get tattoos and piercings with an EBT card.

Steve Jordahl Oh, you can't in Florida.

Ed Vitagliano Well, that's messed up, man. I'm just going to tell you. And I know I'm using big words here.

Tim Wildmon Yeah, m. Okay.

Ed Vitagliano But that's messed up that there were people trying, who were doing that, getting away with it and there were businesses, accepting EBT cards that should be. You're talking about snap, right? Yeah, the Supplemental Nutrition. That's supposed to be Supplemental Nutrition Assistance, not Tattoos are us.

Steve Jordahl This. Okay, so SNAP was for the first. The coke that I said mentioned before. This is the, cash assistance Program, known as Temporary Cash Assistance, or tca.

Ed Vitagliano What is that? I've never heard of that.

Steve Jordahl It's funded through the Temporary Assistance for tanf. The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program. It's separate from snap.

Ed Vitagliano M. And it's a card. It's a debit card.

Steve Jordahl Yeah, it's a debit card as well.

Ed Vitagliano Yeah. Well, this. I'm sorry, folks. I'm going to say it again. That's just messed up.

Tim Wildmon Yeah.

Ed Vitagliano And the thing now that you. Yes. Going deep. The fact that you could use for tattoos and. What else did you say?

Steve Jordahl I got the horn. Yeah, there's a whole list for you there.

Ed Vitagliano Psychics. They were using it for psychics and spas.

Steve Jordahl I'm assuming, since it's on the list, that they can't. Somebody was.

Ed Vitagliano Theme park. I, I, I just, you know, I just want to go back to the 70s or something. the music was better. life wasn't as complicated. We knew what men and women were. Yeah, I sound like an old man, wanting to go back to the good old days, and they weren't.

Our land acknowledgments in Michigan recognize the state as the ancestral, traditional and contemporary land of the Ocebec Three Fighters Confederacy, including. Say again for me. Tim Wildmon Is if there is a archaeological discovery that there were Swiss, people here before that. Before them, a thousand years before

Tim Wildmon We have dug up several Swiss knives in the Michigan soil. And so we have to say the,

Tim Wildmon The original people were. Yeah, were Swiss, and Vikings. And then they were. Then their land was taken over by the native Chippewas.

Ed Vitagliano Yeah, the Chippewas and the Nakatomi's.

Tim Wildmon Why they. Why do they. Why do they do this kind of stuff? What we're hearing right there, what's the point of that?

Ed Vitagliano They feel better about themselves because, stolen land. Listen, we did. Listen, I have no problem saying we did take it.

Tim Wildmon By we, who you mean?

Ed Vitagliano I'm talking about white Europeans. White Europeans took it, came over and they. Because they wouldn't give it to them. So they said, well, fine, we got guns. You got bows and arrows. We'll see who wins out. And, you know, just like the Comanche Indians took land from other Indians. This is just the way it has been. It is sad that, a nation that said that we were Christian, we made up reasons to take it. I understand all that, but they feel better about themselves, acknowledging that there were people we took the land from. But you should at least get somebody up there who can pronounce the names of these tribes.

Tim Wildmon Okay. I would say. Yes, I agree with that. Because she embarrassed herself.

Ed Vitagliano Yes.

Tim Wildmon By trying. You don't. You don't do that on the fly right there. Right. Okay. You don't. You don't practice.

Ed Vitagliano She fumbled it.

Tim Wildmon You don't. You don't practice walking up to the podium. You know what I'm saying, on that one. Because she's being told by people in the audience the correct pronunciation.

Ed Vitagliano Yes.

Tim Wildmon She probably. They probably should have allowed a person who could speak. Maybe a Native American.

Ed Vitagliano Yeah.

Tim Wildmon Somebody with Native American ancestry who could go up and pronounce the names instead of doing what she's doing.

Ed Vitagliano Right.

Tim Wildmon Right there.

Ed Vitagliano And listen. I experience this on a daily basis. The inability to pronounce names is a terrible thing. When I go to the doctors and they say. And they come out with the clipboard.

Tim Wildmon Right, Ed?

Ed Vitagliano That's me. Okay. I experience.

Ed: Why don't we talk about the Comanches taking Native American land

Tim Wildmon It's called name discrimination.

Ed Vitagliano Yes. So I, Listen, you get somebody up there who can pronounce it.

Tim Wildmon Yeah. But I would say to the. As we mentioned before here, that's a lefty, wackadoodle thing to do, in my opinion.

Ed Vitagliano I feel better about myself because I'm acknowledging we took your land.

Tim Wildmon What? I would say this if we wanted. About. If we want to talk about taking land, why do we start with the Europeans?

Ed Vitagliano Right.

Tim Wildmon Why don't we talk about the, Comanches butchering the Sioux and taking their land?

Ed Vitagliano They wiped out a couple of entire tribes. Obliterated them.

Tim Wildmon I was just mentioning those Indian tribes, those Indian nations, I guess should say. I don't. I just threw that out there. I don't know if the Comanches did that to the Sioux or not, but I'm saying that before the, Europeans got to the shores, the Native American tribes were fighting each other for centuries. Over what? Over land. And so they were stealing each other's land and each other's, you know, hunting grounds and each other's. So, I mean, give me a break. That you say it's only the Europeans, the white Europeans, although I didn't know any other kind.

Ed Vitagliano Right, right.

Ed Vitagliano That they're especially evil.

Tim Wildmon Yeah. Why is that?

Steve Jordahl They're the indigenous people of Europe.

Steve Jordahl The white people were the indigenous people of Europe.

Steve Jordahl tell you that, CBS Sports is ranking all of the college teams with this new college. The, way college football is now, with a name image like this, the nil money that players get, it's costing colleges a lot of money to put together football teams. And the biggest spenders, in order are LSU, potentially more than $50 million to put their football team on the field, followed by Miami, Notre Dame, Ed, Ohio State, and then Oregon. These are all above $40 million.

Ed Vitagliano This is disgraceful, and it's going to destroy the sport.

Steve Jordahl Above 30 is Texas a and M, Georgia, Michigan, and it's pro.

Ed Vitagliano That's right. It's the fact that they're spending $50 million to buy a roster. To buy a roster.

Tim Wildmon It's right.

Ed Vitagliano Yeah. I wish we were back in the

Tim Wildmon 70s, back in my day.

Ed Vitagliano Back in my day when things made sense.

Tim Wildmon I want to go back to good old paying guys under the table.
