Jenna Ellis: Welcome to On Demand. This is our AFR exclusive podcast where we do a deeper dive into topics that you need to hear about from guests that you need to hear from. And today's topic is one that is incredibly important and has done a lot for many. Medical freedom. Trump's new executive order, which he signed on August 10, does more than simply say parents should have a choice. It changes the federal government's recommended approach to childhood vaccines and directs federal agencies to support greater parental discretion. While not itself abolishing state ah, school vaccine requirements, just asking school districts to reconsider what their vaccine requirements should, should be. So a lot of the major provisions, of course, and one that a lot of the media has focused on, which is a good thing, is that some vaccines, including the flu, Cove 19 especially, are placed into either a high, high risk group or shared clinical decision making categories rather than being universally recommended for every child. And on parental rights, the order says federal programs and funding should support quote, maximal parental choice consistent with federal law, personal autonomy and informed consent. So here to talk more about this is Dr. Mary Talley Boden, who is a doctor at Houston Medical. And Mary, I so appreciate you joining because you know you have been on even during COVID you have been on the forefront of talking about medical freedom, talking about parental and individual decision making, informed consent. So how big of a deal is this executive order?
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden: Well, we've never seen a president do something like this. So it is, it does set an important precedent in terms of what it actually does. I'm maybe not as optimistic as you, but I do think it raises awareness and it, hopefully it will get to the, to the mothers who will push back more and question their pediatricians. Realistically I actually worry that it may cause a backlash because you might remember when Trump suggested that hydroxychloroquine should be used for Covid. The very next day the Texas State Board of Pharmacy shut down doctors ability to prescribe hydroxychloroquine for Covid. So there was this big backlash and it was purely political and I do worry that that's going to happen this go around. I am encouraged by him telling the attorney General to go after the states that are not allowing exemptions because there are five states that do not allow religious exemptions for vaccines. and so that, that's a huge deal. It's, it's hard for me to believe that states are allowed to get away with that. so hopefully that will have some action with The Cove shot, I mean, no child, no, no person should be getting one of these shots. It should be pulled off the market completely. There is absolutely zero upside. so I, you know, I stand firm on, I'm not giving an inch and say in applauding him for putting that in a shared decision making category because any other product would have been pulled off the market a very long time ago and it is criminal that people are still getting these shots.
Jenna Ellis: Yeah, And I think, I think there's a lot of, political controversy surrounding that. And of course, you know, as you're very well aware and listeners may not recall, the COVID vaccine was manufactured during Trump's first administration and he was kind of the first one to advocate for it. Not for a mandate and a government compulsion, but to say, you know, look, this is available. He did advocate, for some of those other alternative, alternative remedies, such as hydroxychloroquine and you know, some of the others, which of course met with extreme backlash. But, do you think that because this was manufactured during his first term that's more of the political reason that they're not just pulling it? Or is it more that this is a big pharma and advisor push, or there would just be such extreme backlash, to actually pulling it from the market?
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden: Well, right after Fauci's diary was published, Trump tweeted, I believe, or he put on True Social how wonderful Operation Warp Speed was. He called it a tremendous success. So he's still, he's still of the belief that these Covid shots saved, people. And I think that's our primary obstacle is his false belief, that these shots are beneficial. and yeah, there's, he's very, tied in with Big Pharma as well. But I think that, that the primary problem is his inability to recognize the harms of these shots.
Jenna Ellis: Yeah, and I think it's going to take, quite a bit of effort to change, at least the mainstream public opinion on that of those who bought into it initially. I mean, obviously there are people that been very anti, the COVID vaccine. And I don't even like calling it a vaccine, but you know, we all know what we're talking about, the Cove shot, from the beginning, and yet, you know, there's still kind of this divide. And so in my view, this executive order at least is a way that Health and Human Services and the administration is breaking into, this view that has long been held that the government should compel all sorts of vaccines and that there shouldn't be, medical decision making on an individual basis and in consultation with a doctor. And ultimately, when it comes to children, a parent's choice, and when it comes to an adult's individual decision, their own choice for decision making. So I do think that this is helpful at least to break into that category and to support at least some of the states like Florida, that have, you know, really put all vaccines just into the optional category. And ah, our surgeon general here in Florida got a lot of backlash for. But he's absolutely right. And so from a physician's perspective, what do you think genuine informed consent looks like when a parent is deciding whether and when to vaccinate a child, or even as an individual adult themselves? Because as we all know, you know, there's a lot of pressure from doctors to say, you know, yeah, you have the option, but I strongly recommend. And you know, basically the underlying message is it's kind of stupid if you don't.
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden: Right. Well, one thing that I don't think most people know, I didn't even know this until Covid, is that none of these vaccines have been tested against a true saline placebo. In fact, even this new MRNA flu shot was tested against another flu shot. And that is, that sort of goes against what most drugs are, the process of testing. And the other thing is that parents are not told that if there is a complication, they really have no recourse. There is a vaccine injury compensation program, but it's very limited in what they give, people. And the other thing is they're not told what is the risk if you don't get the vaccine and your child gets this disease? What is the risk that there will be actually serious harm to my child? my own son, he was 18 and his dad took him to the pediatrician and the pediatrician told him that if he doesn't get the meningitis shot, he has a 25% chance of dying if he gets meningitis, which is an outright lie. so that's another consideration. but parents aren't told this. I mean, when I got my kids vaccinated, I got a little pre printed handout that said they could have a sore arm and a fever, but they're not told all these other details that really matter.
Jenna Ellis: Yeah. And that's where, shouldn't there be more of a push, legislatively, on both the state and federal level to mandate more information? that really is Providing informed consent.
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden: That would be a great first step. And it could be a printout, that everybody has to give. Right. That has all the information, not just the sore arm and fever and fussy, it needs to have everything included, that I just mentioned. That would be a great first step.
Jenna Ellis: Yeah, yeah. And it's you know, it's interesting how you know, informed consent is big deal now, especially in light of COVID but so many people still just, you know, take their doctor's advice and obviously people want to to have informed consent. And so is there a meaningful medical distinction between saying a vaccine is beneficial at the population level but then suggesting that it's medically appropriate for every individual child or person?
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden: Yeah, I mean it's not a team sport. Your health is not a team sport. And everybody's an individual and everybody has unique things going on. I mean that's why these protocol driven medicine really failed us during the pandemic. We saw that firsthand and treating people on a public health level is wrong, it's unethical and it leads to bad outcomes. Because we saw it all happen during the pandemic.
Jenna Ellis: Yeah. And we saw a lot of push even from conservatives at the beginning. And I think a lot of the political pundits didn't really know what to make of you know, some of this stuff including like you know, herd immunity and you know, some other kind, of descriptors that people were initially talking about, from the get go. but some of the, some of the pushback, you know, from some of the medical community has said, okay, if we have then vaccine skepticism across the board, like here in Florida, some of the pushback has been, well if we don't require vaccinations for things like public schools, for you know, some of the basics like you know, smallpox, measles, that kind of thing. Will we see a resurgence of diseases that have really been pretty much, you know, eradicated like smallpox?
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden: Yeah, well you can look at other countries that don't have the same vaccine schedules, that don't mandate the same, you know, the shots that our country mandates and compare the data there and you're not seeing some, you know, epidemic of these diseases returning. So but you know, if you are, if you believe in the vaccines, you can get the vaccine and you should be protected. So that's, you know, it shouldn't, you shouldn't have to rely on your neighbor to get the Vaccine. You can get the vaccine and protect yourself if that's what you want to do, but we shouldn't make everybody else do it to protect you.
Jenna Ellis: Right. And so, you know, with. With that logic, I mean, that's. That's part of why, I think the. The push, or maybe the, you know, the lack of. Of taking, that extraordinary step to pull the COVID vaccine, and I put that in air quotes, from the market.
Ron Fauci: Patients are not getting true informed consent with COVID vaccines
So what's the difference between having something available and saying, you know, listen, this is your choice, and you can have, you know, informed consent, and if you want to take something like the COVID vaccine, you know, go ahead, even though, you know, obviously you're, you're indicating to the contrary. So what's. What's the difference between, you know, something that actually causes harm and medically should be pulled from the market versus, the individual choice to say, okay, I'm. I can ask my doctor the questions. I can go research myself with a lot of tools that are available now and, make that decision for myself.
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden: Because the patients are not getting true informed consent, especially with these Covid shots. I mean, I know many parents who have lost children, whose children have died from these shots. Right. I continue to see patients whose lives have been completely destroyed from these shots. I mean, they've been sick for five years straight, and nothing is working. Patients are, Now, I would say, yeah, you can give them a choice. If you tell them that they might die or they might be, you know, disabled for the rest of their life and that they won't get any help from the government and that there is no cure if they get disabled, sure, then you can have a choice, but they're not getting told that, they're getting told it's safe and effective, and, yeah, no problem. And what's the upside? Covid is a cold. I can't even remember the last time I saw a COVID patient, much less somebody that I was worried might actually end up in the hospital. We are way beyond that. There is absolutely no reason to give somebody one of these shots at this point. And if you want the choice, then fine, but then, you have to have full informed consent of all the potential problems, and that is not happening.
Jenna Ellis: Yeah. And, you know, I think this raises another problem, which is the liability shield for manufacturers, specifically for the COVID vaccine, because we've seen other products from big Pharma on the market that then end up having adverse consequences. And even after FDA approval and so forth, you know, there's still these, you know, multibillion dollar lawsuits and you know, some, some tort action and so forth. And so, you know, overall I think that the liability shield was a huge mistake, obviously and Big Pharma isn't being held accountable for the adverse consequences. And also not, not explaining to the public like what we've seen with the Fauci text messages and emails, that, you know, others besides him were obviously aware of. And so, you know, where, where in your view is the legislative remedy, for, for something like that, where, if you have an extraordinary circumstance, like they told us Covid was in 2020, that, you know, I remember Trump saying, we want to push this out as quickly as possible, but, but to balance that with the liability that nobody knew at the time if it was actually going to be effective or the long term effects. And I mean it was, it was really, just absolutely reckless, beyond reckless that it was being pushed so hard. But, you know, Big Pharma knew they weren't really risking anything and all they had was to benefit financially from it.
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden: Right. Well, the PREP act, which was in place and keeps getting extended, I think it's in place until 2029 now, that gives full liability protection for these emergency use authorization products. On top of that, we have the Vaccine Injury Liability Protection act that Reagan put in. And there were two bills proposed in Congress. One by Representative Paul Gosar in Arizona to repeal the 1986 Vaccine Injury Protection act. And then another bill called the Libel act that Representative Chip Roy proposed that would remove the PREP act and that would make, it actually retroactive so that people could sue based on what happened during the pandemic. Unfortunately, neither of those bills has, but there have been attempts to try to correct that situation.
Jenna Ellis: Yeah, and it's really, you know, yet another unfortunate lack of wanting to govern that, the GOP hasn't moved either of those pieces of legislation forward. And do you think now with all of the attention on Fauci, the documents that have come out, from, you know, Senators Ron Johnson and Rand Paul, just in the past week, that there may be more attention to some of these issues and better, accountability for Big Pharma?
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden: I hope so. Yeah. I have this organization called Americans for Health Freedom. And our foundational project is to get politicians who are willing to simply state that the Cove shot should be pulled off the market. And so far only four members of Congress have signed it. Senator Ron Johnson, Chip Roy, Thomas Massie, and Marjorie Taylor Green. Yet we have all these politicians on X in an uproar over Fauci, yet they will not take it a step further and call for these shots to be pulled. You know, none of them are getting the shots anymore. They would never give them to their children. They would never want their pregnant daughter to get one of these shots. But they won't speak up. And so it's very frustrating. I mean, I'm encouraged. At least people are talking about it again. but I'm very disappointed that our public officials who are supposed to protect us from things like this will not. Do not have the courage to speak up and say the right thing.
Jenna Ellis: Yeah, you know, that's such a great point that, you know, if everyone's in such an uproar over Fauci and what this is, evidencing and what the data shows on the, the actual adverse effects of the COVID shot, that no one's calling for it to be pulled. I mean, they're simply saying, okay, now, it's not mandated or recommended, but an informed consent. But if it's knowingly harmful, obviously there will be circumstances where, people just in the privacy of. With them and their doctor don't understand all of this or haven't heard about it. And so, just from a, health safety standpoint, I mean, which was the original justification, but what about the health safety of specifically pregnant women or the health safety of children to say, you know, these are actually shots that are causing, or have a great likelihood and potential to cause adverse medical effects, including miscarriage, even. And so we need to pull them off the market. I mean, that seems like something really basic that especially Rand Paul should be calling for. So what. What do you think is, you know, perhaps the. The interest there? Because to me, he seems like somebody that is wanting to get to the accountability of it. And so that seems like not a, an illogical next step.
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden: Right. Well, Rand Paul thinks that the Cove shots help the elderly. I've heard him say this on interviews, and he is, you, know, I have asked him, at least on X repeatedly, will you sign our pledge? And it's, you know, I've m. Met. Been met with silence. So he will not, you know, there is that subsect of Republicans and that think that, yeah, the shots help save the elderly. I do not agree with that. I feel that we could have treated everybody early and saved many people. We had monoclonal antibodies which were not controversial, and those worked really well. the government took those over and shut, them down right as they mandated the Cove shot because they knew people would not get the shot if they had treatment. So, yeah, it's unfortunate, because we. We still. We have people like Rand Paul who. I just don't get it. You know, they're against the lockdowns, they're against the masks, they're against the school closures, they're against, the mandates or against Fauci, but somehow they still think these Covid shots are safe and effective. It just makes no sense.
Jenna Ellis: Yeah, yeah. And that is really, unfortunate when we have, you know, our politicians who they get close, but then, you know, they won't go that final step.
Dr. Bowden urges people to push politicians to support medical freedom
And so for people who are listening to this, Dr. Boden, who are very frustrated with this, concerned about, of course, the, the pregnancy risks and are very pro life, what is the best possible way for them to advocate for continued medical freedom and also, to get our politicians on the federal level especially, but also the states to, you know, mirror what's been done in Florida and in, you know, a few other states at least, to. To mirror, the. The ability not just to have informed consent, but that, to make sure that, you know, some of these products that genuinely are harmful, can be pulled.
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden: Well, if you go to the website from our organization, you can see the politicians who have signed our pledge, and it's called Americans for Health freedom dot org. we have people running for office, and we have many candidates in Florida who have signed our pledge. And you guys have an election, just around the corner. We have three people running for governor who have signed the pledge. Support the people that are willing to. To state this because it's a litmus test. it's a sign of integrity and courage, because so few politicians are willing to state it and then ask your representatives to sign our pledge. You can see there's a lot on the state level of people of elected representatives who have signed. It's much harder for congress, but there have been seven states that have put forward legislation to ban mRNA, has not moved forward. but there, you know, we can still push for it. but I think we just need a lot more pressure on our representatives to do the right thing.

If you tell them that they might die or they might be, you know, disabled for the rest of their life and that they won't get any help from the government and that there is no cure if they get disabled, sure, then you can have a choice, but they're not getting told that, they're getting told it's safe and effective, and, yeah, no problem. And what's the upside? Covid is a cold. I can't even remember the last time I saw a COVID patient, much less somebody that I was worried might actually end up in the hospital. We are way beyond that. There is absolutely no reason to give somebody one of these shots at this point. And if you want the choice, then fine, but then, you have to have full informed consent of all the potential problems, and that is not happening.
Jenna Ellis: Yeah. And, you know, I think this raises another problem, which is the liability shield for manufacturers, specifically for the COVID vaccine, because we've seen other products from big Pharma on the market that then end up having adverse consequences. And even after FDA approval and so forth, you know, there's still these, you know, multibillion dollar lawsuits and you know, some, some tort action and so forth. And so, you know, overall I think that the liability shield was a huge mistake, obviously and Big Pharma isn't being held accountable for the adverse consequences. And also not, not explaining to the public like what we've seen with the Fauci text messages and emails, that, you know, others besides him were obviously aware of. And so, you know, where, where in your view is the legislative remedy, for, for something like that, where, if you have an extraordinary circumstance, like they told us Covid was in 2020, that, you know, I remember Trump saying, we want to push this out as quickly as possible, but, but to balance that with the liability that nobody knew at the time if it was actually going to be effective or the long term effects. And I mean it was, it was really, just absolutely reckless, beyond reckless that it was being pushed so hard. But, you know, Big Pharma knew they weren't really risking anything and all they had was to benefit financially from it.
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden: Right. Well, the PREP act, which was in place and keeps getting extended, I think it's in place until 2029 now, that gives full liability protection for these emergency use authorization products. On top of that, we have the Vaccine Injury Liability Protection act that Reagan put in. And there were two bills proposed in Congress. One by Representative Paul Gosar in Arizona to repeal the 1986 Vaccine Injury Protection act. And then another bill called the Libel act that Representative Chip Roy proposed that would remove the PREP act and that would make, it actually retroactive so that people could sue based on what happened during the pandemic. Unfortunately, neither of those bills has, but there have been attempts to try to correct that situation.
Jenna Ellis: Yeah, and it's really, you know, yet another unfortunate lack of wanting to govern that, the GOP hasn't moved either of those pieces of legislation forward. And do you think now with all of the attention on Fauci, the documents that have come out, from, you know, Senators Ron Johnson and Rand Paul, just in the past week, that there may be more attention to some of these issues and better, accountability for Big Pharma?
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden: I hope so. Yeah. I have this organization called Americans for Health Freedom. And our foundational project is to get politicians who are willing to simply state that the Cove shot should be pulled off the market. And so far only four members of Congress have signed it. Senator Ron Johnson, Chip Roy, Thomas Massie, and Marjorie Taylor Green. Yet we have all these politicians on X in an uproar over Fauci, yet they will not take it a step further and call for these shots to be pulled. You know, none of them are getting the shots anymore. They would never give them to their children. They would never want their pregnant daughter to get one of these shots. But they won't speak up. And so it's very frustrating. I mean, I'm encouraged. At least people are talking about it again. but I'm very disappointed that our public officials who are supposed to protect us from things like this will not. Do not have the courage to speak up and say the right thing.
Jenna Ellis: Yeah, you know, that's such a great point that, you know, if everyone's in such an uproar over Fauci and what this is, evidencing and what the data shows on the, the actual adverse effects of the COVID shot, that no one's calling for it to be pulled. I mean, they're simply saying, okay, now, it's not mandated or recommended, but an informed consent. But if it's knowingly harmful, obviously there will be circumstances where, people just in the privacy of. With them and their doctor don't understand all of this or haven't heard about it. And so, just from a, health safety standpoint, I mean, which was the original justification, but what about the health safety of specifically pregnant women or the health safety of children to say, you know, these are actually shots that are causing, or have a great likelihood and potential to cause adverse medical effects, including miscarriage, even. And so we need to pull them off the market. I mean, that seems like something really basic that especially Rand Paul should be calling for. So what. What do you think is, you know, perhaps the. The interest there? Because to me, he seems like somebody that is wanting to get to the accountability of it. And so that seems like not a, an illogical next step.
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden: Right. Well, Rand Paul thinks that the Cove shots help the elderly. I've heard him say this on interviews, and he is, you, know, I have asked him, at least on X repeatedly, will you sign our pledge? And it's, you know, I've m. Met. Been met with silence. So he will not, you know, there is that subsect of Republicans and that think that, yeah, the shots help save the elderly. I do not agree with that. I feel that we could have treated everybody early and saved many people. We had monoclonal antibodies which were not controversial, and those worked really well. the government took those over and shut, them down right as they mandated the Cove shot because they knew people would not get the shot if they had treatment. So, yeah, it's unfortunate, because we. We still. We have people like Rand Paul who. I just don't get it. You know, they're against the lockdowns, they're against the masks, they're against the school closures, they're against, the mandates or against Fauci, but somehow they still think these Covid shots are safe and effective. It just makes no sense.
Jenna Ellis: Yeah, yeah. And that is really, unfortunate when we have, you know, our politicians who they get close, but then, you know, they won't go that final step.
Dr. Bowden urges people to push politicians to support medical freedom
And so for people who are listening to this, Dr. Boden, who are very frustrated with this, concerned about, of course, the, the pregnancy risks and are very pro life, what is the best possible way for them to advocate for continued medical freedom and also, to get our politicians on the federal level especially, but also the states to, you know, mirror what's been done in Florida and in, you know, a few other states at least, to. To mirror, the. The ability not just to have informed consent, but that, to make sure that, you know, some of these products that genuinely are harmful, can be pulled.
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden: Well, if you go to the website from our organization, you can see the politicians who have signed our pledge, and it's called Americans for Health freedom dot org. we have people running for office, and we have many candidates in Florida who have signed our pledge. And you guys have an election, just around the corner. We have three people running for governor who have signed the pledge. Support the people that are willing to. To state this because it's a litmus test. it's a sign of integrity and courage, because so few politicians are willing to state it and then ask your representatives to sign our pledge. You can see there's a lot on the state level of people of elected representatives who have signed. It's much harder for congress, but there have been seven states that have put forward legislation to ban mRNA, has not moved forward. but there, you know, we can still push for it. but I think we just need a lot more pressure on our representatives to do the right thing.
Jenna Ellis: Yeah, absolutely. Well, really well said. And give that website one more time so that people can, go and look at the pledge and also see who signed it.
