Sandy Rios: Republican midterm convention began last night in Dallas
O said can you see by the dawn's early light what unprodly we have at the twilight's last gleaming Whose fright strikes and bright stars through the perilous fight O' er the ramparts we watched were so giving and the rockets regular, the bonds bursting in it gave hope to the Lord.
Sandy Rios: All right, Sandy Rios with you. And that was the sound of the Republican midterm, convention last night in Dallas at the American Airlines, convention center. Don't you wish you were there? that was, of course, Christopher Macchio. He is President Trump's favorite tenor, and for good reason, for hed's sake. He has a beautiful voice. And is there any song more beautiful than that that just makes your heart beat so? What a great way to start. there were a lot of things that happened before that I really enjoyed, and I began to wonder. I remember the Republican Convention of 24. I remember how much faith there was represented in that, convention on that stage. And I was just saying to myself, oh, I hope, I hope, I hope we have some of that. And out walked these, two wrestlers that wrestled on the UFC fighters, I guess you call them, wrestled on the lawn of the White House around July 4th, and they stood to give their testimony. And it wasn't anything like what I expected. The first one talked about the things, you know, the joy of wrestling, on the lawn and of. He talked about his life a little bit, but the thing he centered on was how he had found Christ and his life had changed and how it had changed his view of fighting. And, he said, that doesn't make me weak. I still fight to win. And it was just, it was amazing. And so there were others who shared their faith. Well, it wasn't long before Pastor Jack Graham, who is the pastor of, the Prestonwood Baptist Church, of Plano, Texas. I used to know Jack pretty well. I remember going to Prestonwood and hearing him preach. And, that was a long time ago, but he, came out and gave the prayer for the convention, and I want you to hear it. Pastor Jack Graham.
Dr. Jack Graham: Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to Texas, y'. All. We are really glad to have you here in Dallas, Fort Worth. Are you ready to welcome the presence of the Lord here in this place? I know you are. So let's bow together and pray. Our Father in heaven, you are a faithful and forever God. Your love is everlasting. May your name, your glorious name, be praised, for you are worthy of all of our worship, now and forever. So we begin this convention in prayer because we trust in you. Our hope is in you. And we ask that you would give us the faith to act courageously, to speak always boldly, and to live obediently to your word, your way, and your will. We humble ourselves before you with repentant hearts. Thank you for your love and your grace. In this, the 250th anniversary of the birth of America, we pray for a spiritual rebirth. We ask for a spiritual revolution, that you would revive your people again, your church again, that we may live for you. Let your people rise to the challenges of these hours and days. That we would walk in dependence and devotion upon you. We rededicate our lives to you this day. We pray for our president, Donald J. Trump, with thanksgiving in our hearts. Give him strength and wisdom and protection to continue leading our great nation. Give us leaders who seek truth and righteousness and the conviction to uphold justice, to defend and protect life from the womb to the tomb, the born and the unborn. Dr. Jack Graham says prayer during convention was powerful and inspiring
Sandy Rios: All right, Dr. Jack. Dr. I'm not sure. Jack Graham of Prestonwood, Baptist Church in Plano. That gave me chills, even though it happened last night. Just a powerful prayer, and I was so relieved. And a camera that I was, I think it was real America's voice. I think it was. Their camera was going over the crowd during the prayer, and people were earnestly praying. It was, really very moving. And, you know, as long as we have that happening. I have tremendous optimism, don't you? When God's people humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, and, then will I heal the look from heaven and heal their land. And so I think that's what's happening. Well, we're going to be talking about the convention today. We have a special guest that's there, and he's going to be telling us what he's saying with his own eyes. but first, there are a lot of lies in our culture. And of course, one of those lies is that abortion is nothing. We've been hearing that for years. It's just this tiny blob. It's a woman's right. It's her body. And the baby doesn't have any rights or maybe no body, just a body at her disposal to destroy if she chooses. Just lots of lies, lots of twisting. And it started a long time ago, I guess, maybe, maybe in the garden those lies started. But abortion has done so much harm, too. It's just done so much harm. So many babies killed, so many mothers, lives destroyed by their depression and anxiety and sadness over looking back on the decision they made, losing children. And some, many of them were infertile. And they look back and that was the one baby they had or the two or the three. It's really so destructive. And so we're gonna do something redemptive. Sandy Rios: Radical left Democrats want to destroy American progress
Before we, go into the main body of the show, I. There's a couple of things I wanted to play for you because, sometimes I think we forget what we're up against. We're up against some really wicked, forces. There's just no question about it. President Trump laid it out in a rally just this week. Clip one.
Donald Trump: But the Radical left Democrats want to destroy all the progress that we made and bring back their nation wrecking nightmare of open borders, of sanctuary cities, of massive tax hikes, crippling energy restrictions.
Sandy Rios: And that's not an exaggeration. J.D. vance was in a different state, at a rally, and this is what he said about all of this.
JD Vance: Now we got to ask ourselves, imagine if they get back in power, what are they going to vote for? If these radicals take control of Congress, they're going to pass the craziest agenda America has ever seen. We in this room, believe in America, and we're going to fight for it, my friends.

Noah Wall attended the Republican midterm convention in Dallas last night
Sandy Rios: All right. Well, that was a barn burner last night at the Republican convention midterm, convention, and President Trump really, I felt in that speech was his old self. It was really fun. He spoke for, like, hour and 45 minutes. We didn't get to watch all of it. We, our television actually went out. But what part we saw, we really enjoyed. And we missed this barn burner, where he said he was going to give $5,000, what did you call it? A dividend to every, American adult. Well, that's gotten a lot of controversy. So we will talk about that. But before we get into that. I want to introduce someone who's at the convention who's a friend of mine. His name is Noah Wallnua. Noah is the executive vice President for Policy and Government affairs for the State Financial Officers Foundation. And what they do is uncover waste, fraud and abuse. And sometime I'll talk to Noah about his great work. But today. Noah, thanks for joining us. I want to know about the convention.
Noah Wall: Absolutely. Thank you, Sandy. It's great to be on. And yeah, the midterm convention is. Everyone's mentioning this is the first time either party has done one. I think it's a tremendous idea. Only Trump could come up with that. But, it is. I think it's just an amazing way to showcase the absolute patriots that we have that we're running for office. And as Speaker Johnson said to us, a, ah, couple nights ago, you know, they're trying to demonstrate the contrast for America, what we are offering, in the freedom and opportunity that the Republicans can give the American people, you know, if they're gracious enough to gift us with a House and the Senate, versus what the Democrats will provide, which is a much darker, Much darker, prospect, I think, for freedom and liberty. So that's what, I think the general theme that they're trying to set up. I think they've done tremendous job. There's huge energy here. Thousands of Americans from around the country just, you know, packed in Dallas and it just. Absolutely trying to gin up, you know, enthusiasm for the midterms. And I think it's mission accomplished there.
Sandy Rios: Yeah, it doesn't seem like maybe they have to be ginned up too much. From what I'm seeing on the camera, they look like they're really excited. I. Listen, Noah, this is the first Republican convention of other. Any kind that I've missed in, I don't know, a decade or more. So I'm sorry I'm not there, but I did. I had been watching and enjoying it from afar and I did hear some great speakers. In fact, I was going to ask you what speaker really stood out to you? Speaker or speakers?
Noah Wall: You know, I think Brandon Gill did a tremendous job. He, I think, you know, he's a younger member of Congress from the state of Texas, and he is, I think, really giving voice to the cultural challenges we have, the moment that we're in as a country. And I think Brandon Gill gave a tremendous speech. You started it off with a land acknowledgment. Yeah.
Sandy Rios: Hold on, hold on a second. Let's play It. This is clip six, and we'll talk about it. Brandon Gill.
Noah Wall: Yeah.
Brandon Gill: It's an honor to be here at the Republican National Convention in the great state of Texas. Now, I think it's only appropriate that we kick this convention off properly with a land acknowledgement. I'd like to acknowledge that we stand here today in the great state of Texas and the United States of America, the ancestral homeland of great American patriots, pioneers and explorers who put down roots, fought for freedom all over the globe, and bled and died to build the greatest civilization ever known to man.
Sandy Rios: All right, well, that was a show supper too. So, Noah, some people might not know why that was so funny now. I do, because my son actually is a pastor in Vancouver, British Columbia, and believe it or not, it's his former church. Actually, someone would stand on the platform and acknowledge that they are standing in this church on our indigenous people, the land that they cultivated, whatever. So that's kind of a standard thing for the left, isn't.
Noah Wall: Is. It's, you know, the left has their own very peculiar religion and practices that they, that they, you know, that they go through. you know, they've got the whole thing with the genders and the pronouns and. But one of the things that they do are land acknowledgments. So they begin every meeting by acknowledging that they're there on stolen land and that the land does not properly belong to Canada or the United States or wherever. And that's how they sort of like, you know, kick off every meeting. And, you know, so it was obviously a poke at that. But I think on the more serious side, you know, the contrast that I think Republicans are showing, it's like, no, we are like, you know, this is 2026. We don't need to pretend that we're embarrassed about America anymore. Like, we need to, like, we need to be confident and bold in our proclamations that America is a force for good in the world. And I. That that's what Brandon Gill did so, tremendously in his speech.
Sandy Rios: You know, I would be remiss if I didn't mention Billy Eilish, I think her name is. She's a singer. And I think it was at the Oscar. No, I don't know what Grammys. At the Grammys, she actually said, no one is illegal on stolen land. And she claimed that that land was stolen. And then we found out later that her own mansion was on stolen, land, according to her definition. I'm not sure how they resolve that, but. But that's how silly it's gotten.
Noah Wall: Yeah, that's obviously the preposterous nature of the left in that, you know, they could just give the land back to Native Americans if they wanted to. you know, this is particularly big issue in Canada. you know, like, if you wanted to just give the land back to the tribal peoples of wherever, like, you can just go do that. But it's, you know, it's just an acknowledgment of shame and a framing, you know, of disdain for what America is and what it, what we have built. And that, to me, I think, is the real critical point is they just, they want you to feel ashamed for driving your car. They want you to feel ashamed for where you live, the prosperity that has been given by the society that we've all collectively built. And they like, to me, like, that is a very, very dark, avenues. The left, you know, sort of inhabits that. I think it is right to market. And I think that Brandon Gill doing that was very important.
Brett Kavanaugh says $5,000 tax breaks for American workers would boost economy
Sandy Rios: Okay, so let's move to the big, the big announcement of the night about the $5,000. And before I get your comments, because you, are a money guy and I'm curious to know your thoughts, but let's, let's play what JD Vance said, with Fox during the convention. He commented on this. This is his first comment. This is, clip 12.
JD Vance: First of all, what the President's talking about is fundamentally a dividend for American workers. We're taking in an extraordinary amount of revenue because the President of the United States is actually standing up to both foreign, companies, but also foreign countries who've been taking advantage of America's workers for pretty much my entire life. All of these tariffs. What is a tariff, Brett? A tariff is when the President, United States says, if you want to undercut the wages of American workers, if you want to ship American jobs over, you're going to pay a big fat penalty when you try to bring that stuff back into the United States of America. Those penalties have generated a lot of revenues. They've helped us pay down debt. What the President's just saying is if you keep it going to the American people, if you keep us in power and allow us to continue to do these things, then you're going to share in some of the benefit of this incredible wealth that we're creating in the United States of America. I don't think it's a controversial idea. It's actually the President of the United States saying, we're all working together. We're all on the same team. And if we continue to create wealth, that wealth is going to go back to the American people.
Sandy Rios: Okay. No, what did you think about it? I'll just. What did you think when President Trump said that?
Noah Wall: Well, you know, I, as you mentioned, like, I do work, on fiscal issues quite a lot and have throughout my career various organizations. you know, federal spending is way too high. I think the federal government is way too big. I, think that what in particular the Trump administration and Vice President Vance have done an incredibly good job is showing shining light and trying to cut out the just, just unfathomable scale of fraud that exists in our nation right now. And they have made tremendous progress on that. So I think that that is a very good thing as it relates to the $5,000 specifically. you know, it's, I mean that would cost somewhere between 800 billion and a little over a trillion dollars. So that is an awful lot of money that we don't have. but what I would say to kind of, I think probably to the President's point, I'm not sure that he made the specific argument, but, that amount is a drop in the bucket to what it would cost if the Democrats took over Congress. you know, the Democrats run campaigns on, we're going to be a free phone, we're going to give you free health care, we're going to give you free this, free that. I definitely think that this alternative is a far more positive, you know, far more positive proposal than, than what the Democrats would, would definitely do. so, you know, I think it's, it's classic Trump. I think it is a very good motivating factor going into the, you know, going into the midterms. I mean, Republicans are an underdog, so it's not, you know, like in midterms you classically lose seats and we have a razor thin majority in the, in the House. So, you know, I guess I would say is, you know, I think, you know, making the best possible argument I can make for it is the trillion dollars this would cost is a lot, is a drop in the bucket compared to what, you know, what it would cost the American people, if the Democrats were to take over.
Sandy Rios: Interesting. You know, one thing that's interesting to me, Noah, and this has been the case since President Trump was elected. In spite of his, boastful nature, his braggadocious nature, which I've gotten used to and I, it's just he's a character that he's a One of a kind. We'll never see anything like him. And usually I always tell people, you know, the Bible says that we should have an accurate view of ourselves, not think too highly and not think too lowly. An accurate view. And in that argument, President Trump has a pretty accurate view of himself because he is pretty remarkable, and he manages to do almost everything he says is going to do. I'm not sure I could think of an exception. Exception. But what the point I was trying to make in a very long way was. And past elections, whether it's the lower, offices or the presidency, they always say, and I'm gonna win. We're gonna win on November 3rd. We're gonna win. He never says that. He never says it. He says, if we win, you know, and, you know, you never know. But I'm hoping, you know, that's basically how he handles it. And I picked that up last night also.
Noah: I think President Trump understands gas prices better than anyone else
now I want to ask you one. One last thing, Noah. I, know that you're very concerned about the war in Iran and the effect it's having on voters because of prices and all of that, a concern that, all of us have. And so did you hear anything last night in regard to Iran that gave you any kind of a, different perspective or a broader perspective? I don't know, whatever. Perspective.
Noah Wall: Yeah, I think, you know, I think when it comes to politics and, like, retail politics, so the president, you know, I think understands these issues better than almost anyone else. And I think he understands that, you know, the price at the pump, the price people are paying for things, he knows that they're too high, and he knows we need to get them down. And I. And I fully believe that he is doing everything that he can to make that happen. And I think that that's, you know, a good part of the battle with the American people is they, you know, they've always known that President Trump understands their challenges. And, you know, maybe they don't agree with him on everything, but I think they know that he empathizes genuinely with them. And I think that, you know, I think that one of the biggest challenges we have right now, I mean, you know, gas in Northern Virginia, where I live, is four dollars a gallon, or like, four and a quarter. Like, right now. Like, that is. That is incredibly high. And I think he knows that he. That we need to get that down. I think that was a big, you know, that was a big part of the messaging push that he made yesterday, was that he knows that that needs to be fixed. So I think that, you know, when it comes to politics, I think that the major thing is about prices and you know, frankly, the economic challenges people are having. And President Trump knows that. And I think that he's, I think he's actively working on that.
Sandy Rios: You know, he made a statement, on his way to the convention. Maybe you didn't hear this, but, he basically said, I just. The war is going to be over soon. And we, I heard a briefing this week talking about how weakened Iran is in spite of their bluster. I've heard from several experts now it's like a last gasp and that they want him to lose. And so they keep hanging on, trying of the. Giving the appearance that this is going to go on and on, but it just can't because they. Everything is destroyed and their revenue is just dried up and so is their oil. So President Trump said in this statement that the war. He said, I think the war will be over as soon as the midterms are over. And when that happens, he said gasoline's going to drop as low as $2. So I don't know if people heard that, but isn't that. I think that's very possible too. Think, Scott Besantis said something that sent us something like that.
Noah Wall: I think that you're absolutely right. I think that President Trump, I think he truly believes and truly genuinely wants this to not be a conflict that drags on. And I think he's doing everything he can on that front. And I think that, you know, I mean, he's clearly a masterful. I mean, you know, he truly is a commander in chief and is, is dedicated on that front. So I have great confidence that, that, that, that will, that, that will be what happens. Because he's proven over and over again he is able to make these deals and to act in the strong interest of the American people.
Sandy Rios: Yeah. What you can. You would be hard pressed to say that President Trump doesn't care about the American people. He is time and time and time again, he has done gone to great extent, like no tax on tips, like, you know, no tax on overtime, just regular people. And when he goes out in the community, you see what an affinity he has for regular people. He's made his whole last 18 months really on tax cuts and really trying to help people's lives be better, but they're not feeling it because of the gas pump and the gas raised gas prices have kept the prices up. So, anyway, I think your point is well taken, Noah. And, so I think we have to have some perseverance. Now our challenge is to make this case to others who are not hearing this, you know. Oh, ah, one of those things. I'm sorry, one more thing. Last night, Fox did great coverage of the convention and I wasn't going to listen to them because I'm annoyed with them for sending out this notice that no, they should not see, speak about president's, speech, about the election and about China's interference. So I did a whole show this week about that, and now here they are having a major presence at the convention. I thought that was very interesting. Maybe you don't really know that. Did you see them?
Noah Wall: No. So I definitely did. You know, it's very interesting as well is, you know, when you're in the convention center, so you're walking around, there are just huge numbers of new media organizations that are clearly making a very large, impact in a way. You know, I think that, you know, even two years ago at the rnc, Fox was front and center. And I agree that they definitely have a presence here at the convention. But you see, like, the Daily Wire, you see, Real America's Voice, like a lot of smaller, more up and coming news organizations have huge presences at the convention, not just inside, but in the, you know, in the hallways and in the corridors, like, interviewing delegates, like. So I'm actually very encouraged that the media environment is, in fact, shifting to, I think, a more decentralized model to give a lot of voices to the grassroots that. But as you point out, Fox doesn't always do. And, you know, like, we all love, you know, what Fox used to be, and we want them to be that again. But in the meantime, there are other. There are other, I think, amazing, you know, more smaller voices that are, that are being heard and like, have active presences at the convention that I think everyone should take heart in. I think the future of the media environment is actually very positive.
Sandy Rios: I do too, Noah. I'm encouraged. but I'm just warning people about Fox, because I don't trust them anymore. But at least they were there and they gave good coverage. So for that I'm very grateful. Well, Noah, thanks so much for giving us your time today. Today they're talking about 9 11, right? It's a tribute to 911 or remembrance.

Jenny Vance made some comments about Iran last night ahead of midterm elections
All right, so, Jenny Vance made some comments about Iran last night. And, before I play those, Bruce is sitting here next to, to me. Hello, sweetheart.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): Hello. Hello. Good morning.
Sandy Rios: Are you buoyed by what you're hearing?
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): I am. I, I have probably a little bit of a nervous factor about the midterms, but, definitely last night was a rev up call for Republican, ah, voters.
Sandy Rios: Yeah.
Sandy Cohen: The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has created options
Let's talk about Iran for a second because, J.D. vance weighed in on that last night and I want to fill in the blanks a little bit because I, I've heard a briefing and also a few other things related to that. But, this is what JD said last night on Fox, and this is clip 14.
JD Vance: I've dealt with the Iranians a lot over the past six months, and what I've learned is most of what they say, even if some people within their system ultimately believe it, you have some crazy people in their system, I think, that just want to have a consistently bad relationship with the United States of America. What's good about the black, but also not just the blockade, but what we're able to get out of the Strait of Hormuz is that it's created options for the American people and for the President, United States. Remember, what the Iranians are trying to do is strangle the world energy market. They're trying to make it so that they can get their oil and gas to the market, but the rest of the world can't get their oil and gas to the market. What we've actually done is turn that entirely on their head. The Iranians are getting nothing out. They have no oil or gas revenue coming into their country. Meanwhile, some days it's 10 million barrels, some days it's 18 million barrels. We're able to get enough oil and gas out of the Strait of Hormuz to supply world energy markets. So I think fundamentally it doesn't really matter whether the Iranians want to make a deal or not. What matters is that the President has created conditions where we have options and we can either make a deal if the President wants to do that, or we can continue to ensure that the world oil gas markets are, are supplied, but the Iranians don't have much options on their end.
Sandy Rios: It's so interesting. The, briefing that I heard yesterday, Bruce, talked about how they, you know, they bluster a lot, and news media pick up the things that they supposedly do. Like, I think this week they said they had attacked 10 tankers, and that wasn't true. and the attacks that they are making are not doing damage. And so they're like, really on their last gasp. and people in Iran cannot get gasoline. That's sad for the people. Very sad.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): Well, you know, the way I look at it is almost like if you remember when you went to school, you have 30 kids in the class, and if you have one child that is totally disruptive, he can disrupt the entire classroom. And I think that's what you see in Iran. There's a small number of people that are behind these attacks and this consistent resistance to the United States. And of course, there's enough media outlets that cannot stand President Trump and will do anything to try to undermine him. And any, any story, any information that is negative towards what President Trump is trying to accomplish, they amplify like crazy. So if, if a missile is shot by the Iranians at a ship and it comes nowhere near the ship, that's not how they describe it. They just, they will say a ship was attacked by Iranian rockets, and then they just leave it hang as to whether or not it hit. But you as a listener, especially if you're bent that way, you'll think, wow, they attacked another one of our ships and damaged it.
Sandy Rios: And so then they say Trump was lying about having destroyed their capacity.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): And, you know, I think we're. The thing I don't understand, Sandy, is, when we talk about the Strait of Hormuz and President Trump says, look, we're in control of the strait, and I believe that. I believe we're in control of the strait. But what I don't understand is if we are in control of the strait and we're letting only the oil that, the other countries need, why we cannot ramp up our production and get these prices down? I don't understand this. Why, you know, the, the gas is really going up right now. And unfortunately, there is just so much over emphasis by people, by your common person. You know, I hear it every day when I'm out.
Sandy Rios: Well, they're still. They're stoked by the media.
Eric Metaxas: Yeah.
Sandy Rios: That. Because this is the Achilles heel for President Trump and they want him to lose.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): And, you know, normally, gas, you know, gas price, they affect the way we live. But I mean, how many of us really, unless we're professional drivers or we have to drive a Commute a long way. Really? Are that impacted by the gas prices? I mean, we don't like paying it, but it doesn't really change the way we live. But if you listen to the M. Media, that's the only thing that matters.
Sandy Rios: Right. And I know you are not saying that some people aren't struggling because of it. Oh, no, no, I. Yeah, but I agree with you. Most people that have, you know. Okay, so. But it's still a huge problem. But I think, Bruce, gasoline was this high under Biden, was it not?
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): Well, it was pretty darn high. I, mean, I remember it being almost $4 consistently through much of his presidency. And, you know, all those excuses were made for that. And if you recall, what he was doing, Biden, to keep the prices down, to try to do that is he was draining our national oil reserve,
Sandy Rios: which is what we use during war. It's emergency oil for, for that purpose. Because if we don't have oil, we are helpless. We have no energy. We can't fight, we can't function. So I guess the perspective that's. I'm trying to guess, develop some perspective. The reason it was so high under Joe Biden was because they had a war on energy. Very different reason.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): Right.
Sandy Rios: they would not let refiners, they wouldn't allow drilling. They just shut it all down. And so that's why the, that's why the gasoline prices went up. So the reason they're up now is a very different reason. And I believe Trump completely when this, we resolve this conflict. And even if we don't, you know, even if they don't make a, make an agreement, I think, Vance just said that we will, we will prevail because we hold all the cards right now.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): Now I'm going to be the Snoopy cloud. And I hope I'm wrong, but I'm out a lot amongst people that I would call, you know, mainstream Americans. And I feel like they think Donald Trump has kind of become like the boy who cried wolf. He has consistently said this war is going to be over. it's only a matter of days. He's also said that the gas prices are going to come down, and neither of those things have happened. And, you know, now he, he gives his address last night and he repeats that. And I think when he says after the midterms are over, all this stuff will change. I don't know how many people believe him other than the fans of his, because. And I'm talking about, like, the independence that we need to woo, to win the election.
Sandy Rios: People that listen to CNN and SMBC
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): and Fox sometimes, and it's so easy to spin that against the President. And, you know, I don't think the President is a liar. Don't take me wrong here. But what I've consistently felt is that he should have been quiet a lot more than he was about what was going on with Iran. Just let the war play out and, periodically say, we're winning. it's just a matter of time. But, you know, he, I don't know if it's his vanity or his hope or I don't know what caused it, but I will be the Snoopy cloud in that. He has said that a lot, and I don't think a lot of people believe him anymore.
Sandy Rios: All right, so then, I'll go on record as saying I believe that what he's saying is going to happen. Oh, I'm not prophetic.
Cindy: The Iranians hope that Republicans will lose the midterms
I'm not saying that God has spoken to me. That would be a little silly. But I, my m, My gut tells me, ah, and my experience tells me that that's exactly what's going to happen. And of course, when oil prices come down, all the transportation costs and that the oil, you know, goes in to make so many different products, plastics and all kinds of stuff, you're going to see, the prices drop, but it's not going to happen overnight. The gas prices might come down before anything else.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): And you, and you can bet that the Iranians completely understand what's going on politically here in the United States. And this is their last hope, really, is that they can somehow hold on through the midterms, causing all kinds of trouble for Donald Trump, and that the Republicans will lose the midterms, then a more favorable, climate will develop for ending this war against Iran. And, they know that they can probably get much better terms than they can get right now. So, I mean, this is strictly a political game for the Iranians at this point. They're just trying to destroy it, get to November.
Sandy Rios: Yeah, I agree. And so, but I hope people agree, understand that we need to hold on to the midterms. And President Trump. I just did a show earlier this week. If you missed it, please go back and listen to it. It's, that it's just, just 25 of the major accomplishments that Trump has had, during his year and a half as president. It will blow your socks off. I mean, because I think we forget how many things he's actually accomplished. I think he said last night, you know, the border crossings are down 99.9. They're just not coming across anymore. And we've gotten about 3 million, I think illegal immigrants have left. And we're, it's, he said that we're working tenuously, continuously, to get the rest of them out. And so they're working on that. And that's, that's crime. That's money for our tax money spent on you know, the things that they are taking advantage of. They've been given all kinds of privileges. Medicare, Medicaid is being streamlined. People that are fraudsters have been kicked off. I mean the federal workforce has been reduced. I think it's 2.7 million now. 300,000 have been asked to leave or you know, given money to leave actually if they care to do that. And that we know the federal workforce had gotten so big and it was so costly and people were not really working. That's amazing. That is amazing because federal workers have been a huge part of that deep state. Bruce, you know all about that, right?
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): About 10% of the 300,000 of the 3 million federal workers have been gotten rid of and they're working on getting rid of more. And I can tell you having been a federal worker, there are tons of layers of people working for the government, many at very high salaries that are unnecessary. There's so much redundancy in the federal government and all these agencies that you never even have heard of that have all kinds of power and they use administrative rules to put restrictions on us, which costs us money. It's really a web that you know, when they talk about the deep state. Well it's not just the deep state that's, it's also a web of maybe they don't have ill intent towards people, but they cost us money because they're there. And you know Sandy I don't mean to sound negative towards President Trump. I am totally on board with him. I think he works exhaustively. He works an 80 year old man, I bet he works 20 hours a day. And he's always thinking. Probably those four hours he sleeps, he's price thinking thoughts the whole time, probably,
Sandy Rios: like some of us. But four hours of sleep, I can't imagine that.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): And I mean he. The thing we have to remember about this midterm election, and I've said this before, I don't mean to chew my cud the second time, but this is all about impeachment and the do nothing of the government. If we lose the majorities in the House and the Senate, the Democrats will have articles of impeachment ready the day they get sworn in if they take over the Congress. And we will lose President Trump, for the last two years of his administration, there won't be anything, in fact, he termed, he used the term last night. It'll be, you know, hostage negotiations or ransom negotiations. Every bill, if the Democrats take the majority, we will not get. The military will suffer. immigration will, change the way. The way they've cracked down on the immigration, that will stop. there's so many things that are at stake, and really, this election, and it's pretty simple. We need voter turnout. You know, I don't know why we. I don't understand this history of the incumbent party losing at the midterms. you'd think, with President Trump, he would rev you up so much as a voter you would want to go. This is really our last chance to vote. I know President Trump's not on the ballot. It's our last chance to vote for his agenda and his people. And I think we ought to really take advantage of that.
Sandy Rios: I do, too. I mean, we've had a nice. this has been a time of peace, a time of prosperity. except for now, I guess, in general prosperity, because most of you got tax refunds. no tax on tips, no tax on overtime. and that makes a big difference to working people. So I. He's done so many things, and then he's also going to give a 500 rebate, Bruce, to people that were, defrauded, with Obamacare. Now, that's a drop in the bucket. but he explained that there's a. The Biden administration took that money and did not give it back to the people, so they're gonna. He's going to send that out to people that have been burned in that way.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): You know, I. I think it's so frustrating to watch how hard President Trump works and how little the mainstream Republicans do to help him. when they talked about Jon Thune last night at the convention, there were lots of boos, and, boy, are those deserved. This guy, you know, he's the leader of the Senate, and he has done nothing, in my opinion, to advance this Save America Act. And if there's anything that's going to clean up our elections and give us a chance, it's the Save America Act. They're not going to pass that. And you watch the voter fraud in this midterm. Any close election, you can bet the Democrats, if they win, they've probably cooked the books to a degree.
Sandy Rios: You know, Bruce, while the Republicans were having their convention, the Democrats were meeting, like right across the street. They had their own. Well, it's a Democratic National Committee. They hosted a counter programming news conference at, that's across from the American Airlines center in Dallas. And guess who spoke? It's our favorite guy from Illinois, J.B. pritzkers.
JB Prtizker: This bizarre Republican midterm convention here can't paper over the fact that Republicans have done nothing to earn your vote. Donald Trump is hoping that a flashy primetime event will make you forget that. Ah, well, his trade war is killing costs for families at the grocery store. His war in Iran is killing ranchers and farmers and their way of life. And his war on people, on the working people.
The war in Iran is killing ranchers and farmers, Eve says
The working families of this country are raising the costs of health care and housing. But Republicans can't rig the election if voters or overwhelm them at the polls. Their lives and their, livelihoods are at stake. And the Republicans are lying and they're corrupt.
Sandy Rios: Oh, that's interesting. So, first of, first of all, did you know that, the war in Iran is killing ranchers and farmers? I didn't know there. I didn't know that. Did you?
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): I, I did not. I do know that having both of us come from Illinois, where J.B. pritzker is the governor, the failed governor that we have, the plump governor, we have family and friends that are in farming and they're in Illinois. And, you know, the family farm is becoming very rare. they're being bought up by corporations. It's getting harder and harder to run a family farm and be profitable. And J.B. pritzker, as far as I can tell, has done nothing to help farmers. So it's really ironic to hear him talk about Trump ruining ranchers and farmers.
Sandy Rios: He's killing them. It's. He's killing ranchers and farmers. He's killing them left and right. I didn't hear that. See those obituaries? Well, anyway, so also, he says he's, he's, got, he's doing a war on people, on the working people, the working families of this country. The raising, raising the cost of health care and housing. Now, Trump administration is not raising the costs of housing and health care. They inherited that and they're trying to do something about it. I think, I think last, night, I heard who. No, no, I heard. You know what, I know who. I'd heard. I heard Scott Turner, who is the Secretary of Health and, hud, Housing and Urban Development. And he talked about all the things that this administration is doing to bring down the cost of housing. They're stopping big corporations from buying single family homes. And he, went on and on about that. So they are doing something about it, but you can't turn that mess. And they, the Democrats made a horrible mess of that, starting with Obama.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): You know, that really flew under the radar when Biden was president. Is the reason one of the biggest reasons homes were going through the roof, cost wise, is these big corporations were buying any new construction. And once you own that percentage of the construction, you can set the price. the competition goes away. So you can basically set the price where you want. And they jack those prices up huge. And Trump is trying to stop that. Like you say, if you go in the hardware store, since Biden eras, the cost of things are unbelievable. I bought two bolts the other day, they were $4. And, you know, President Trump is a builder. He understands that's his bailiwick. He understands that we have to stop this and turn this around. And I think that for JB Pritz, again, talk about an ironic messenger. There are more people leaving our state of Illinois than you can shake a stick at. I think they in NewSong York are in a competition for who's leaving faster, the residents of NewSong York or the Res of Illinois. And the taxes in Illinois, they just announced huge toll taxes on the highways. and the other thing about Pritzker is he presides over an economy in Illinois that is dominated by labor unions. And I was just talking to someone that was up there the other day trying to do something at a trade show. And they needed like, something unplugged so they could move their, venue. And they were told, no, no, no, you can't pull that plug out. That has to be pulled out by a union person. They stood there for a half an hour waiting for some guy to lumber over and unplug the plug so they could move. That's the kind of economy J.B. pritzker brings.
Sandy Rios: Yeah, exactly. And, just quickly, I want to mention that he's accusing. What did he say exactly? Let's see, he's against the working families of this country and they're raising costs of health care and housing. Now, health care was something that anybody paying attention knew that Obamacare, it was baked in a cake. People warned about this, that the price for Obamacare was going to shoot up. Right now in this last. I don't know when it started Six months ago, I'm not sure. But they knew exactly. And, they didn't care because that would be long after they were gone. And if you recall, Obamacare, was passed on Christmas Eve, I believe, a 2009, something like that. And the reason it passed was because Jon McCain, was the, the one Republican who just proudly came down to the well and put his thumb down. He was so proud of himself for, causing that to pass. And they were, the Democrats moved heaven and earth. They brought sick people in, they pulled members back from that were on vacation, and they kept them there on Christmas Eve. And that's how it was so controversial. That's how the Tea Party began, was trying to stop that, and they weren't able to do that. That was people like Trump, before Trump was ever on the scene. People like us were trying to stop that and we couldn't because the Democrats were so deceptive.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): Yeah, but Sandy, you got to keep your doctor.
Sandy Rios: Yeah.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): And you got to keep your insurance.
Sandy Rios: Yes, of course.
Dr. Jack Graham: Both.
Sandy Rios: Which were lies.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): What a terrible promise.
Sandy Rios: Yeah. So I just want to remind you all that that's just not true. And I want to remind you how things were, when, Biden was president. We could talk about, you know, Obama too. We could go back to that, but we won't.
Jay Vance: Two big issues that made Donald Trump president were failures of previous administration
I'll just play this one thing. in closing. This is, something J.D. j.D. Vance said in a Fox interview last night. Clip 13.
JD Vance: If you think of the two big issues, I think fundamentally that made Donald Trump the president, United States, me, the Vice President, United States, two big failures of the previous administration. Number one, they let in millions and millions of criminal aliens in the United States of America. And number two, you had a terrible affordability problem. They went to war on American oil and gas. On both of those issues, Democrats are doubling down on the bad policies of the Biden administration. It really is a choice between lower prices, common sense energy policy, common sense foreign policy, but most importantly, closing down the border, protecting American workers, or going crazy. That is what they're offering. And fundamentally, I think the American people. The argument we have to make to the American people is do you want to go back to the failed policies, but with more crazy, or do you want to double down on what has allowed us to rebuild the United States of America over the past 18 months?
Sandy Rios: I remember years ago, when who was the president? Oh, it was, Clinton. Clinton had gutted the military. He actually said that he loathed the military and he proved it by his actions. And I remember the infamous Dick Cheney being on a battleship. And I mean, we, we all knew our military was just in really parts, not being able to get parts, things not working. And I remember Dick Cheney standing on that battleship, and his voice, he said, help is on the way. I'll never forget that. And so I want to close today by saying to all of you, help is on the way. these things are being addressed. It just can't happen. It's only been a year and a half. And if anybody can solve, an economy problem, it's a, multimillionaire billionaire like Donald Trump. He knows how to do it. He's trying to do it. He's got people around him. Scott Bessent and Jay Vance is very smart on economics, too. He was a business owner. He's got good people around him. So give him a chance. And I do think this is going to resolve. Just hang on, okay? Because help is on the way.

Sandy Rios: Republican midterm convention began last night in Dallas
O said can you see by the dawn's early light what unprodly we have at the twilight's last gleaming Whose fright strikes and bright stars through the perilous fight O' er the ramparts we watched were so giving and the rockets regular, the bonds bursting in it gave hope to the Lord.
Sandy Rios: All right, Sandy Rios with you. And that was the sound of the Republican midterm, convention last night in Dallas at the American Airlines, convention center. Don't you wish you were there? that was, of course, Christopher Macchio. He is President Trump's favorite tenor, and for good reason, for hed's sake. He has a beautiful voice. And is there any song more beautiful than that that just makes your heart beat so? What a great way to start. there were a lot of things that happened before that I really enjoyed, and I began to wonder. I remember the Republican Convention of 24. I remember how much faith there was represented in that, convention on that stage. And I was just saying to myself, oh, I hope, I hope, I hope we have some of that. And out walked these, two wrestlers that wrestled on the UFC fighters, I guess you call them, wrestled on the lawn of the White House around July 4th, and they stood to give their testimony. And it wasn't anything like what I expected. The first one talked about the things, you know, the joy of wrestling, on the lawn and of. He talked about his life a little bit, but the thing he centered on was how he had found Christ and his life had changed and how it had changed his view of fighting. And, he said, that doesn't make me weak. I still fight to win. And it was just, it was amazing. And so there were others who shared their faith. Well, it wasn't long before Pastor Jack Graham, who is the pastor of, the Prestonwood Baptist Church, of Plano, Texas. I used to know Jack pretty well. I remember going to Prestonwood and hearing him preach. And, that was a long time ago, but he, came out and gave the prayer for the convention, and I want you to hear it. Pastor Jack Graham.
Dr. Jack Graham: Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to Texas, y'. All. We are really glad to have you here in Dallas, Fort Worth. Are you ready to welcome the presence of the Lord here in this place? I know you are. So let's bow together and pray. Our Father in heaven, you are a faithful and forever God. Your love is everlasting. May your name, your glorious name, be praised, for you are worthy of all of our worship, now and forever. So we begin this convention in prayer because we trust in you. Our hope is in you. And we ask that you would give us the faith to act courageously, to speak always boldly, and to live obediently to your word, your way, and your will. We humble ourselves before you with repentant hearts. Thank you for your love and your grace. In this, the 250th anniversary of the birth of America, we pray for a spiritual rebirth. Dr. Jack Graham says prayer during convention was powerful and inspiring
Sandy Rios: All right, Dr. Jack. Dr. I'm not sure. Jack Graham of Prestonwood, Baptist Church in Plano. That gave me chills, even though it happened last night. Just a powerful prayer, and I was so relieved. And a camera that I was, I think it was real America's voice. I think it was. Their camera was going over the crowd during the prayer, and people were earnestly praying. It was, really very moving. And, you know, as long as we have that happening. I have tremendous optimism, don't you? When God's people humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, and, then will I heal the look from heaven and heal their land. And so I think that's what's happening. Well, we're going to be talking about the convention today. We have a special guest that's there, and he's going to be telling us what he's saying with his own eyes. but first, there are a lot of lies in our culture. And of course, one of those lies is that abortion is nothing. We've been hearing that for years. It's just this tiny blob. It's a woman's right. It's her body. And the baby doesn't have any rights or maybe no body, just a body at her disposal to destroy if she chooses. Just lots of lies, lots of twisting. And it started a long time ago, I guess, maybe, maybe in the garden those lies started. But abortion has done so much harm, too. It's just done so much harm. So many babies killed, so many mothers, lives destroyed by their depression and anxiety and sadness over looking back on the decision they made, losing children. And some, many of them were infertile. And they look back and that was the one baby they had or the two or the three. It's really so destructive. And so we're gonna do something redemptive. Sandy Rios: All right. Well, that was a barn burner last night at the Republican convention midterm, convention, and President Trump really, I felt in that speech was his old self. It was really fun. He spoke for, like, hour and 45 minutes. We didn't get to watch all of it. We, our television actually went out. But what part we saw, we really enjoyed. And we missed this barn burner, where he said he was going to give $5,000, what did you call it? A dividend to every, American adult. Well, that's gotten a lot of controversy. So we will talk about that. But before we get into that. I want to introduce someone who's at the convention who's a friend of mine. His name is Noah Wallnua. Noah is the executive vice President for Policy and Government affairs for the State Financial Officers Foundation. And what they do is uncover waste, fraud and abuse. And sometime I'll talk to Noah about his great work. But today. Noah, thanks for joining us. I want to know about the convention.
Noah Wall: Absolutely. Thank you, Sandy. It's great to be on. And yeah, the midterm convention is. Everyone's mentioning this is the first time either party has done one. I think it's a tremendous idea. Only Trump could come up with that. But, it is. I think it's just an amazing way to showcase the absolute patriots that we have that we're running for office. And as Speaker Johnson said to us, a, ah, couple nights ago, you know, they're trying to demonstrate the contrast for America, what we are offering, in the freedom and opportunity that the Republicans can give the American people, you know, if they're gracious enough to gift us with a House and the Senate, versus what the Democrats will provide, which is a much darker, Much darker, prospect, I think, for freedom and liberty. So that's what, I think the general theme that they're trying to set up. I think they've done tremendous job. There's huge energy here. Thousands of Americans from around the country just, you know, packed in Dallas and it just. Absolutely trying to gin up, you know, enthusiasm for the midterms. And I think it's mission accomplished there.
Sandy Rios: Yeah, it doesn't seem like maybe they have to be ginned up too much. From what I'm seeing on the camera, they look like they're really excited. I. Listen, Noah, this is the first Republican convention of other. Any kind that I've missed in, I don't know, a decade or more. So I'm sorry I'm not there, but I did. I had been watching and enjoying it from afar and I did hear some great speakers. In fact, I was going to ask you what speaker really stood out to you? Speaker or speakers?
Noah Wall: You know, I think Brandon Gill did a tremendous job. He, I think, you know, he's a younger member of Congress from the state of Texas, and he is, I think, really giving voice to the cultural challenges we have, the moment that we're in as a country. And I think Brandon Gill gave a tremendous speech. You started it off with a land acknowledgment. Yeah.
Sandy Rios: Hold on, hold on a second. Let's play It. This is clip six, and we'll talk about it. Brandon Gill.
Noah Wall: Yeah.
Brandon Gill: It's an honor to be here at the Republican National Convention in the great state of Texas. Now, I think it's only appropriate that we kick this convention off properly with a land acknowledgement. I'd like to acknowledge that we stand here today in the great state of Texas and the United States of America, the ancestral homeland of great American patriots, pioneers and explorers who put down roots, fought for freedom all over the globe, and bled and died to build the greatest civilization ever known to man.
Sandy Rios: All right, well, that was a show supper too. So, Noah, some people might not know why that was so funny now. I do, because my son actually is a pastor in Vancouver, British Columbia, and believe it or not, it's his former church. Actually, someone would stand on the platform and acknowledge that they are standing in this church on our indigenous people, the land that they cultivated, whatever. So that's kind of a standard thing for the left, isn't.
Noah Wall: Is. It's, you know, the left has their own very peculiar religion and practices that they, that they, you know, that they go through. you know, they've got the whole thing with the genders and the pronouns and. But one of the things that they do are land acknowledgments. So they begin every meeting by acknowledging that they're there on stolen land and that the land does not properly belong to Canada or the United States or wherever. And that's how they sort of like, you know, kick off every meeting. And, you know, so it was obviously a poke at that. But I think on the more serious side, you know, the contrast that I think Republicans are showing, it's like, no, we are like, you know, this is 2026. We don't need to pretend that we're embarrassed about America anymore. Like, we need to, like, we need to be confident and bold in our proclamations that America is a force for good in the world. And I. That that's what Brandon Gill did so, tremendously in his speech.
Sandy Rios: You know, I would be remiss if I didn't mention Billy Eilish, I think her name is. She's a singer. And I think it was at the Oscar. No, I don't know what Grammys. At the Grammys, she actually said, no one is illegal on stolen land. And she claimed that that land was stolen. And then we found out later that her own mansion was on stolen, land, according to her definition. I'm not sure how they resolve that, but. But that's how silly it's gotten.
Noah Wall: Yeah, that's obviously the preposterous nature of the left in that, you know, they could just give the land back to Native Americans if they wanted to. you know, this is particularly big issue in Canada. you know, like, if you wanted to just give the land back to the tribal peoples of wherever, like, you can just go do that. But it's, you know, it's just an acknowledgment of shame and a framing, you know, of disdain for what America is and what it, what we have built. And that, to me, I think, is the real critical point is they just, they want you to feel ashamed for driving your car. They want you to feel ashamed for where you live, the prosperity that has been given by the society that we've all collectively built. And they like, to me, like, that is a very, very dark, avenues. The left, you know, sort of inhabits that. I think it is right to market. And I think that Brandon Gill doing that was very important.
Brett Kavanaugh says $5,000 tax breaks for American workers would boost economy
Sandy Rios: Okay, so let's move to the big, the big announcement of the night about the $5,000. And before I get your comments, because you, are a money guy and I'm curious to know your thoughts, but let's, let's play what JD Vance said, with Fox during the convention. He commented on this. This is his first comment. This is, clip 12.
JD Vance: First of all, what the President's talking about is fundamentally a dividend for American workers. We're taking in an extraordinary amount of revenue because the President of the United States is actually standing up to both foreign, companies, but also foreign countries who've been taking advantage of America's workers for pretty much my entire life. All of these tariffs. What is a tariff, Brett? A tariff is when the President, United States says, if you want to undercut the wages of American workers, if you want to ship American jobs over, you're going to pay a big fat penalty when you try to bring that stuff back into the United States of America. Those penalties have generated a lot of revenues. They've helped us pay down debt. What the President's just saying is if you keep it going to the American people, if you keep us in power and allow us to continue to do these things, then you're going to share in some of the benefit of this incredible wealth that we're creating in the United States of America. I don't think it's a controversial idea. It's actually the President of the United States saying, we're all working together. We're all on the same team. And if we continue to create wealth, that wealth is going to go back to the American people.
Sandy Rios: Okay. No, what did you think about it? I'll just. What did you think when President Trump said that?
Noah Wall: Well, you know, I, as you mentioned, like, I do work, on fiscal issues quite a lot and have throughout my career various organizations. you know, federal spending is way too high. I think the federal government is way too big. I, think that what in particular the Trump administration and Vice President Vance have done an incredibly good job is showing shining light and trying to cut out the just, just unfathomable scale of fraud that exists in our nation right now. And they have made tremendous progress on that. So I think that that is a very good thing as it relates to the $5,000 specifically. you know, it's, I mean that would cost somewhere between 800 billion and a little over a trillion dollars. So that is an awful lot of money that we don't have. but what I would say to kind of, I think probably to the President's point, I'm not sure that he made the specific argument, but, that amount is a drop in the bucket to what it would cost if the Democrats took over Congress. you know, the Democrats run campaigns on, we're going to be a free phone, we're going to give you free health care, we're going to give you free this, free that. I definitely think that this alternative is a far more positive, you know, far more positive proposal than, than what the Democrats would, would definitely do. so, you know, I think it's, it's classic Trump. I think it is a very good motivating factor going into the, you know, going into the midterms. I mean, Republicans are an underdog, so it's not, you know, like in midterms you classically lose seats and we have a razor thin majority in the, in the House. So, you know, I guess I would say is, you know, I think, you know, making the best possible argument I can make for it is the trillion dollars this would cost is a lot, is a drop in the bucket compared to what, you know, what it would cost the American people, if the Democrats were to take over.
Sandy Rios: Interesting. You know, one thing that's interesting to me, Noah, and this has been the case since President Trump was elected. In spite of his, boastful nature, his braggadocious nature, which I've gotten used to and I, it's just he's a character that he's a One of a kind. We'll never see anything like him. And usually I always tell people, you know, the Bible says that we should have an accurate view of ourselves, not think too highly and not think too lowly. An accurate view. And in that argument, President Trump has a pretty accurate view of himself because he is pretty remarkable, and he manages to do almost everything he says is going to do. I'm not sure I could think of an exception. Exception. But what the point I was trying to make in a very long way was. And past elections, whether it's the lower, offices or the presidency, they always say, and I'm gonna win. We're gonna win on November 3rd. We're gonna win. He never says that. He never says it. He says, if we win, you know, and, you know, you never know. But I'm hoping, you know, that's basically how he handles it. And I picked that up last night also.
Noah: I think President Trump understands gas prices better than anyone else
now I want to ask you one. One last thing, Noah. I, know that you're very concerned about the war in Iran and the effect it's having on voters because of prices and all of that, a concern that, all of us have. And so did you hear anything last night in regard to Iran that gave you any kind of a, different perspective or a broader perspective? I don't know, whatever. Perspective.
Noah Wall: Yeah, I think, you know, I think when it comes to politics and, like, retail politics, so the president, you know, I think understands these issues better than almost anyone else. And I think he understands that, you know, the price at the pump, the price people are paying for things, he knows that they're too high, and he knows we need to get them down. And I. And I fully believe that he is doing everything that he can to make that happen. And I think that that's, you know, a good part of the battle with the American people is they, you know, they've always known that President Trump understands their challenges. And, you know, maybe they don't agree with him on everything, but I think they know that he empathizes genuinely with them. And I think that, you know, I think that one of the biggest challenges we have right now, I mean, you know, gas in Northern Virginia, where I live, is four dollars a gallon, or like, four and a quarter. Like, right now. Like, that is. That is incredibly high. And I think he knows that he. That we need to get that down. I think that was a big, you know, that was a big part of the messaging push that he made yesterday, was that he knows that that needs to be fixed. So I think that, you know, when it comes to politics, I think that the major thing is about prices and you know, frankly, the economic challenges people are having. And President Trump knows that. And I think that he's, I think he's actively working on that.
Sandy Rios: You know, he made a statement, on his way to the convention. Maybe you didn't hear this, but, he basically said, I just. The war is going to be over soon. And we, I heard a briefing this week talking about how weakened Iran is in spite of their bluster. I've heard from several experts now it's like a last gasp and that they want him to lose. And so they keep hanging on, trying of the. Giving the appearance that this is going to go on and on, but it just can't because they. Everything is destroyed and their revenue is just dried up and so is their oil. So President Trump said in this statement that the war. He said, I think the war will be over as soon as the midterms are over. And when that happens, he said gasoline's going to drop as low as $2. So I don't know if people heard that, but isn't that. I think that's very possible too. Think, Scott Besantis said something that sent us something like that.
Noah Wall: I think that you're absolutely right. I think that President Trump, I think he truly believes and truly genuinely wants this to not be a conflict that drags on. And I think he's doing everything he can on that front. And I think that, you know, I mean, he's clearly a masterful. I mean, you know, he truly is a commander in chief and is, is dedicated on that front. So I have great confidence that, that, that, that will, that, that will be what happens. Because he's proven over and over again he is able to make these deals and to act in the strong interest of the American people.
Sandy Rios: Yeah. What you can. You would be hard pressed to say that President Trump doesn't care about the American people. He is time and time and time again, he has done gone to great extent, like no tax on tips, like, you know, no tax on overtime, just regular people. And when he goes out in the community, you see what an affinity he has for regular people. He's made his whole last 18 months really on tax cuts and really trying to help people's lives be better, but they're not feeling it because of the gas pump and the gas raised gas prices have kept the prices up. So, anyway, I think your point is well taken, Noah. And, so I think we have to have some perseverance. Now our challenge is to make this case to others who are not hearing this, you know. Oh, ah, one of those things. I'm sorry, one more thing. Last night, Fox did great coverage of the convention and I wasn't going to listen to them because I'm annoyed with them for sending out this notice that no, they should not see, speak about president's, speech, about the election and about China's interference. So I did a whole show this week about that, and now here they are having a major presence at the convention. I thought that was very interesting. Maybe you don't really know that. Did you see them?
Noah Wall: No. So I definitely did. You know, it's very interesting as well is, you know, when you're in the convention center, so you're walking around, there are just huge numbers of new media organizations that are clearly making a very large, impact in a way. You know, I think that, you know, even two years ago at the rnc, Fox was front and center. And I agree that they definitely have a presence here at the convention. But you see, like, the Daily Wire, you see, Real America's Voice, like a lot of smaller, more up and coming news organizations have huge presences at the convention, not just inside, but in the, you know, in the hallways and in the corridors, like, interviewing delegates, like. So I'm actually very encouraged that the media environment is, in fact, shifting to, I think, a more decentralized model to give a lot of voices to the grassroots that. But as you point out, Fox doesn't always do. And, you know, like, we all love, you know, what Fox used to be, and we want them to be that again. But in the meantime, there are other. There are other, I think, amazing, you know, more smaller voices that are, that are being heard and like, have active presences at the convention that I think everyone should take heart in. I think the future of the media environment is actually very positive.
Sandy Rios: I do too, Noah. I'm encouraged. but I'm just warning people about Fox, because I don't trust them anymore. But at least they were there and they gave good coverage. So for that I'm very grateful. Well, Noah, thanks so much for giving us your time today. Today they're talking about 9 11, right? It's a tribute to 911 or remembrance.

Jenny Vance made some comments about Iran last night ahead of midterm elections
All right, so, Jenny Vance made some comments about Iran last night. And, before I play those, Bruce is sitting here next to, to me. Hello, sweetheart.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): Hello. Hello. Good morning.
Sandy Rios: Are you buoyed by what you're hearing?
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): I am. I, I have probably a little bit of a nervous factor about the midterms, but, definitely last night was a rev up call for Republican, ah, voters.
Sandy Rios: Yeah.
Sandy Cohen: The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has created options
Let's talk about Iran for a second because, J.D. vance weighed in on that last night and I want to fill in the blanks a little bit because I, I've heard a briefing and also a few other things related to that. But, this is what JD said last night on Fox, and this is clip 14.
JD Vance: I've dealt with the Iranians a lot over the past six months, and what I've learned is most of what they say, even if some people within their system ultimately believe it, you have some crazy people in their system, I think, that just want to have a consistently bad relationship with the United States of America. What's good about the black, but also not just the blockade, but what we're able to get out of the Strait of Hormuz is that it's created options for the American people and for the President, United States. Remember, what the Iranians are trying to do is strangle the world energy market. They're trying to make it so that they can get their oil and gas to the market, but the rest of the world can't get their oil and gas to the market. What we've actually done is turn that entirely on their head. The Iranians are getting nothing out. They have no oil or gas revenue coming into their country. Meanwhile, some days it's 10 million barrels, some days it's 18 million barrels. We're able to get enough oil and gas out of the Strait of Hormuz to supply world energy markets. So I think fundamentally it doesn't really matter whether the Iranians want to make a deal or not. What matters is that the President has created conditions where we have options and we can either make a deal if the President wants to do that, or we can continue to ensure that the world oil gas markets are, are supplied, but the Iranians don't have much options on their end.
Sandy Rios: It's so interesting. The, briefing that I heard yesterday, Bruce, talked about how they, you know, they bluster a lot, and news media pick up the things that they supposedly do. Like, I think this week they said they had attacked 10 tankers, and that wasn't true. and the attacks that they are making are not doing damage. And so they're like, really on their last gasp. and people in Iran cannot get gasoline. That's sad for the people. Very sad.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): Well, you know, the way I look at it is almost like if you remember when you went to school, you have 30 kids in the class, and if you have one child that is totally disruptive, he can disrupt the entire classroom. And I think that's what you see in Iran. There's a small number of people that are behind these attacks and this consistent resistance to the United States. And of course, there's enough media outlets that cannot stand President Trump and will do anything to try to undermine him. And any, any story, any information that is negative towards what President Trump is trying to accomplish, they amplify like crazy. So if, if a missile is shot by the Iranians at a ship and it comes nowhere near the ship, that's not how they describe it. They just, they will say a ship was attacked by Iranian rockets, and then they just leave it hang as to whether or not it hit. But you as a listener, especially if you're bent that way, you'll think, wow, they attacked another one of our ships and damaged it.
Sandy Rios: And so then they say Trump was lying about having destroyed their capacity.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): And, you know, I think we're. The thing I don't understand, Sandy, is, when we talk about the Strait of Hormuz and President Trump says, look, we're in control of the strait, and I believe that. I believe we're in control of the strait. But what I don't understand is if we are in control of the strait and we're letting only the oil that, the other countries need, why we cannot ramp up our production and get these prices down? I don't understand this. Why, you know, the, the gas is really going up right now. And unfortunately, there is just so much over emphasis by people, by your common person. You know, I hear it every day when I'm out.
Sandy Rios: Well, they're still. They're stoked by the media.
Eric Metaxas: Yeah.
Sandy Rios: That. Because this is the Achilles heel for President Trump and they want him to lose.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): And, you know, normally, gas, you know, gas price, they affect the way we live. But I mean, how many of us really, unless we're professional drivers or we have to drive a Commute a long way. Really? Are that impacted by the gas prices? I mean, we don't like paying it, but it doesn't really change the way we live. But if you listen to the M. Media, that's the only thing that matters.
Sandy Rios: Right. And I know you are not saying that some people aren't struggling because of it. Oh, no, no, I. Yeah, but I agree with you. Most people that have, you know. Okay, so. But it's still a huge problem. But I think, Bruce, gasoline was this high under Biden, was it not?
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): Well, it was pretty darn high. I, mean, I remember it being almost $4 consistently through much of his presidency. And, you know, all those excuses were made for that. And if you recall, what he was doing, Biden, to keep the prices down, to try to do that is he was draining our national oil reserve,
Sandy Rios: which is what we use during war. It's emergency oil for, for that purpose. Because if we don't have oil, we are helpless. We have no energy. We can't fight, we can't function. So I guess the perspective that's. I'm trying to guess, develop some perspective. The reason it was so high under Joe Biden was because they had a war on energy. Very different reason.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): Right.
Sandy Rios: they would not let refiners, they wouldn't allow drilling. They just shut it all down. And so that's why the, that's why the gasoline prices went up. So the reason they're up now is a very different reason. And I believe Trump completely when this, we resolve this conflict. And even if we don't, you know, even if they don't make a, make an agreement, I think, Vance just said that we will, we will prevail because we hold all the cards right now.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): Now I'm going to be the Snoopy cloud. And I hope I'm wrong, but I'm out a lot amongst people that I would call, you know, mainstream Americans. And I feel like they think Donald Trump has kind of become like the boy who cried wolf. He has consistently said this war is going to be over. it's only a matter of days. He's also said that the gas prices are going to come down, and neither of those things have happened. And, you know, now he, he gives his address last night and he repeats that. And I think when he says after the midterms are over, all this stuff will change. I don't know how many people believe him other than the fans of his, because. And I'm talking about, like, the independence that we need to woo, to win the election.
Sandy Rios: People that listen to CNN and SMBC
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): and Fox sometimes, and it's so easy to spin that against the President. And, you know, I don't think the President is a liar. Don't take me wrong here. But what I've consistently felt is that he should have been quiet a lot more than he was about what was going on with Iran. Just let the war play out and, periodically say, we're winning. it's just a matter of time. But, you know, he, I don't know if it's his vanity or his hope or I don't know what caused it, but I will be the Snoopy cloud in that. He has said that a lot, and I don't think a lot of people believe him anymore.
Sandy Rios: All right, so then, I'll go on record as saying I believe that what he's saying is going to happen. Oh, I'm not prophetic.
Cindy: The Iranians hope that Republicans will lose the midterms
I'm not saying that God has spoken to me. That would be a little silly. But I, my m, My gut tells me, ah, and my experience tells me that that's exactly what's going to happen. And of course, when oil prices come down, all the transportation costs and that the oil, you know, goes in to make so many different products, plastics and all kinds of stuff, you're going to see, the prices drop, but it's not going to happen overnight. The gas prices might come down before anything else.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): And you, and you can bet that the Iranians completely understand what's going on politically here in the United States. And this is their last hope, really, is that they can somehow hold on through the midterms, causing all kinds of trouble for Donald Trump, and that the Republicans will lose the midterms, then a more favorable, climate will develop for ending this war against Iran. And, they know that they can probably get much better terms than they can get right now. So, I mean, this is strictly a political game for the Iranians at this point. They're just trying to destroy it, get to November.
Sandy Rios: Yeah, I agree. And so, but I hope people agree, understand that we need to hold on to the midterms. And President Trump. I just did a show earlier this week. If you missed it, please go back and listen to it. It's, that it's just, just 25 of the major accomplishments that Trump has had, during his year and a half as president. It will blow your socks off. I mean, because I think we forget how many things he's actually accomplished. I think he said last night, you know, the border crossings are down 99.9. They're just not coming across anymore. And we've gotten about 3 million, I think illegal immigrants have left. And we're, it's, he said that we're working tenuously, continuously, to get the rest of them out. And so they're working on that. And that's, that's crime. That's money for our tax money spent on you know, the things that they are taking advantage of. They've been given all kinds of privileges. Medicare, Medicaid is being streamlined. People that are fraudsters have been kicked off. I mean the federal workforce has been reduced. I think it's 2.7 million now. 300,000 have been asked to leave or you know, given money to leave actually if they care to do that. And that we know the federal workforce had gotten so big and it was so costly and people were not really working. That's amazing. That is amazing because federal workers have been a huge part of that deep state. Bruce, you know all about that, right?
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): About 10% of the 300,000 of the 3 million federal workers have been gotten rid of and they're working on getting rid of more. And I can tell you having been a federal worker, there are tons of layers of people working for the government, many at very high salaries that are unnecessary. There's so much redundancy in the federal government and all these agencies that you never even have heard of that have all kinds of power and they use administrative rules to put restrictions on us, which costs us money. It's really a web that you know, when they talk about the deep state. Well it's not just the deep state that's, it's also a web of maybe they don't have ill intent towards people, but they cost us money because they're there. And you know Sandy I don't mean to sound negative towards President Trump. I am totally on board with him. I think he works exhaustively. He works an 80 year old man, I bet he works 20 hours a day. And he's always thinking. Probably those four hours he sleeps, he's price thinking thoughts the whole time, probably,
Sandy Rios: like some of us. But four hours of sleep, I can't imagine that.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): And I mean he. The thing we have to remember about this midterm election, and I've said this before, I don't mean to chew my cud the second time, but this is all about impeachment and the do nothing of the government. If we lose the majorities in the House and the Senate, the Democrats will have articles of impeachment ready the day they get sworn in if they take over the Congress. And we will lose President Trump, for the last two years of his administration, there won't be anything, in fact, he termed, he used the term last night. It'll be, you know, hostage negotiations or ransom negotiations. Every bill, if the Democrats take the majority, we will not get. The military will suffer. immigration will, change the way. The way they've cracked down on the immigration, that will stop. there's so many things that are at stake, and really, this election, and it's pretty simple. We need voter turnout. You know, I don't know why we. I don't understand this history of the incumbent party losing at the midterms. you'd think, with President Trump, he would rev you up so much as a voter you would want to go. This is really our last chance to vote. I know President Trump's not on the ballot. It's our last chance to vote for his agenda and his people. And I think we ought to really take advantage of that.
Sandy Rios: I do, too. I mean, we've had a nice. this has been a time of peace, a time of prosperity. except for now, I guess, in general prosperity, because most of you got tax refunds. no tax on tips, no tax on overtime. and that makes a big difference to working people. So I. He's done so many things, and then he's also going to give a 500 rebate, Bruce, to people that were, defrauded, with Obamacare. Now, that's a drop in the bucket. but he explained that there's a. The Biden administration took that money and did not give it back to the people, so they're gonna. He's going to send that out to people that have been burned in that way.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): You know, I. I think it's so frustrating to watch how hard President Trump works and how little the mainstream Republicans do to help him. when they talked about Jon Thune last night at the convention, there were lots of boos, and, boy, are those deserved. This guy, you know, he's the leader of the Senate, and he has done nothing, in my opinion, to advance this Save America Act. And if there's anything that's going to clean up our elections and give us a chance, it's the Save America Act. They're not going to pass that. And you watch the voter fraud in this midterm. Any close election, you can bet the Democrats, if they win, they've probably cooked the books to a degree.
Sandy Rios: You know, Bruce, while the Republicans were having their convention, the Democrats were meeting, like right across the street. They had their own. Well, it's a Democratic National Committee. They hosted a counter programming news conference at, that's across from the American Airlines center in Dallas. And guess who spoke? It's our favorite guy from Illinois, J.B. pritzkers.
JB Prtizker: This bizarre Republican midterm convention here can't paper over the fact that Republicans have done nothing to earn your vote. Donald Trump is hoping that a flashy primetime event will make you forget that. Ah, well, his trade war is killing costs for families at the grocery store. His war in Iran is killing ranchers and farmers and their way of life. And his war on people, on the working people.
The war in Iran is killing ranchers and farmers, Eve says
The working families of this country are raising the costs of health care and housing. But Republicans can't rig the election if voters or overwhelm them at the polls. Their lives and their, livelihoods are at stake. And the Republicans are lying and they're corrupt.
Sandy Rios: Oh, that's interesting. So, first of, first of all, did you know that, the war in Iran is killing ranchers and farmers? I didn't know there. I didn't know that. Did you?
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): I, I did not. I do know that having both of us come from Illinois, where J.B. pritzker is the governor, the failed governor that we have, the plump governor, we have family and friends that are in farming and they're in Illinois. And, you know, the family farm is becoming very rare. they're being bought up by corporations. It's getting harder and harder to run a family farm and be profitable. And J.B. pritzker, as far as I can tell, has done nothing to help farmers. So it's really ironic to hear him talk about Trump ruining ranchers and farmers.
Sandy Rios: He's killing them. It's. He's killing ranchers and farmers. He's killing them left and right. I didn't hear that. See those obituaries? Well, anyway, so also, he says he's, he's, got, he's doing a war on people, on the working people, the working families of this country. The raising, raising the cost of health care and housing. Now, Trump administration is not raising the costs of housing and health care. They inherited that and they're trying to do something about it. I think, I think last, night, I heard who. No, no, I heard. You know what, I know who. I'd heard. I heard Scott Turner, who is the Secretary of Health and, hud, Housing and Urban Development. And he talked about all the things that this administration is doing to bring down the cost of housing. They're stopping big corporations from buying single family homes. And he, went on and on about that. So they are doing something about it, but you can't turn that mess. And they, the Democrats made a horrible mess of that, starting with Obama.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): You know, that really flew under the radar when Biden was president. Is the reason one of the biggest reasons homes were going through the roof, cost wise, is these big corporations were buying any new construction. And once you own that percentage of the construction, you can set the price. the competition goes away. So you can basically set the price where you want. And they jack those prices up huge. And Trump is trying to stop that. Like you say, if you go in the hardware store, since Biden eras, the cost of things are unbelievable. I bought two bolts the other day, they were $4. And, you know, President Trump is a builder. He understands that's his bailiwick. He understands that we have to stop this and turn this around. And I think that for JB Pritz, again, talk about an ironic messenger. There are more people leaving our state of Illinois than you can shake a stick at. I think they in NewSong York are in a competition for who's leaving faster, the residents of NewSong York or the Res of Illinois. And the taxes in Illinois, they just announced huge toll taxes on the highways. and the other thing about Pritzker is he presides over an economy in Illinois that is dominated by labor unions. And I was just talking to someone that was up there the other day trying to do something at a trade show. And they needed like, something unplugged so they could move their, venue. And they were told, no, no, no, you can't pull that plug out. That has to be pulled out by a union person. They stood there for a half an hour waiting for some guy to lumber over and unplug the plug so they could move. That's the kind of economy J.B. pritzker brings.
Sandy Rios: Yeah, exactly. And, just quickly, I want to mention that he's accusing. What did he say exactly? Let's see, he's against the working families of this country and they're raising costs of health care and housing. Now, health care was something that anybody paying attention knew that Obamacare, it was baked in a cake. People warned about this, that the price for Obamacare was going to shoot up. Right now in this last. I don't know when it started Six months ago, I'm not sure. But they knew exactly. And, they didn't care because that would be long after they were gone. And if you recall, Obamacare, was passed on Christmas Eve, I believe, a 2009, something like that. And the reason it passed was because Jon McCain, was the, the one Republican who just proudly came down to the well and put his thumb down. He was so proud of himself for, causing that to pass. And they were, the Democrats moved heaven and earth. They brought sick people in, they pulled members back from that were on vacation, and they kept them there on Christmas Eve. And that's how it was so controversial. That's how the Tea Party began, was trying to stop that, and they weren't able to do that. That was people like Trump, before Trump was ever on the scene. People like us were trying to stop that and we couldn't because the Democrats were so deceptive.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): Yeah, but Sandy, you got to keep your doctor.
Sandy Rios: Yeah.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): And you got to keep your insurance.
Sandy Rios: Yes, of course.
Dr. Jack Graham: Both.
Sandy Rios: Which were lies.
Bruce (Sandy Rios' husband): What a terrible promise.
Sandy Rios: Yeah. So I just want to remind you all that that's just not true. And I want to remind you how things were, when, Biden was president. We could talk about, you know, Obama too. We could go back to that, but we won't.
Jay Vance: Two big issues that made Donald Trump president were failures of previous administration
I'll just play this one thing. in closing. This is, something J.D. j.D. Vance said in a Fox interview last night. Clip 13.
JD Vance: If you think of the two big issues, I think fundamentally that made Donald Trump the president, United States, me, the Vice President, United States, two big failures of the previous administration. Number one, they let in millions and millions of criminal aliens in the United States of America. And number two, you had a terrible affordability problem. They went to war on American oil and gas. On both of those issues, Democrats are doubling down on the bad policies of the Biden administration. It really is a choice between lower prices, common sense energy policy, common sense foreign policy, but most importantly, closing down the border, protecting American workers, or going crazy. That is what they're offering. And fundamentally, I think the American people. The argument we have to make to the American people is do you want to go back to the failed policies, but with more crazy, or do you want to double down on what has allowed us to rebuild the United States of America over the past 18 months?
Sandy Rios: I remember years ago, when who was the president? Oh, it was, Clinton. Clinton had gutted the military. He actually said that he loathed the military and he proved it by his actions. And I remember the infamous Dick Cheney being on a battleship. And I mean, we, we all knew our military was just in really parts, not being able to get parts, things not working. And I remember Dick Cheney standing on that battleship, and his voice, he said, help is on the way. I'll never forget that. And so I want to close today by saying to all of you, help is on the way. these things are being addressed. It just can't happen. It's only been a year and a half. And if anybody can solve, an economy problem, it's a, multimillionaire billionaire like Donald Trump. He knows how to do it. He's trying to do it. He's got people around him. Scott Bessent and Jay Vance is very smart on economics, too. He was a business owner. He's got good people around him. So give him a chance. And I do think this is going to resolve. Just hang on, okay? Because help is on the way.
