Thank You To Our Sponsor Preborn: Your Support Saves Lives And Strengthens America's Future
Dr. Jessica Peck: We would like to take a moment to thank our sponsor, preborn. When a mother meets her baby on ultrasound and hears their heartbeat, it's a divine connection. And the majority of the time she will choose life. But they can't do it without our help. Preborn needs us, the pro life community, to come alongside them. One ultrasound is just $28. To donate, dial pound250 and say the keyword baby or visit preborn.com/AFR this year America celebrates its 250th birthday. Two and a half centuries of cour innovation, faith and freedom. But what will the next 250 years hold? The next generation could hold the next Billy Graham, the next Roza Parks, the next Ronald Reagan. The next child whose life will impact generations. But first they must be given the chance to live it. I couldn't imagine my life without him because of them. He's here. We're gonna get through it and it's gonna be okay. Everyday preborn network clinics helps mothers facing unexpected pregnancies discover hope through a free ultrasound. When a mother sees her baby and hears that tiny heartbeat, her baby is twice as likely to be given the gift of life. What story will God write through America's next generation? In honor of America's 250th anniversary, we're asking friends to consider a special gift of $250. Your gift can help provide nearly nine life saving ultrasounds. Dial pound 250 and say the keyword baby. That's pound 250 baby. Or donate securely at preborn.com/AFR that's preborn.com/AFR Every gift is tax- deductible. I listen to American family radio a lot. I'm a truck driver and I just love the message that I get. it keeps me instilled, it keeps me on track. I get so blessed just because of all the different topics and all that I get from it. And just want to say thank you so much for the ministry that you provide to those of us out here. And oh, and you guys just y' all bless me daily. Thank you very much.
Standing Firm in Faith and Love: A Biblical Call to Courage and Strength for the Next Generation
First Corinthians, chapter 16, verses 13 and 14 say, Be on your guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous, be strong, do everything in love. Christ is my firm, foundation, the rock on which I stand is faithful through generations. so why would he fail now? He won't. It's shareathon on American family radio. Call now and partner with us at 877-616-2396. That's 877-616-2396 or give [email protected] and thank you for your support of AFR during Shareathon.
Dr. Jessica Peck: hello, and welcome back to Shareathon. We are on day three of coming to our faithful listeners and asking for support. This is only one of two times a year that we do this. It is me, Jessica Peck, Doctor, nurse, Mama. You may know me during this hour. That's where I use my professor brain, my hands on nursing experience and my heart as a mom to prescribe hope for healthy families. We want you to help us finish strong. We want you to call in at 877-616-2396. That's 877-616-2396. We have a goal of raising $4 million. We are just about half a million dollars away from that. And we are having $125,000 challenge right now. Call in 8776-1623-9687-7616-2396. And I am so delighted to be joined by my wingman, none other than Wesley Wildmon.
Wesley Wildmon: Yes, ma'. Am.
Wesley Wildmon: Three years in.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Three years in. You, ah, haven't kicked me out yet?
Wesley Wildmon: No. You know what? It gets better each year. It's getting better.
Dr. Jessica Peck: It does.
Wesley Wildmon: It hasn't crossed my mind, Jessica. Hasn't crossed my mind. It gets better and better. I really, had a moment today during lunch. So during Shareathon we do all our snacks, lunch, breakfast, everything's here at our headquarters so that we can stay busy on the phone and not take a break from taking your phone calls at 877-616-2396. But during our lunch break, we were just across the street in our kitchen, in our lunch area, and, just had a lot of really good conversations with our listeners that are here volunteering their time. And that just reminded me how much of this that we do really is a family that, as I mentioned yesterday, is unified under one thing, and that's our relationship with Jesus brings us together, that gives us the obligation, and the motivation to do what we do. And I couldn't thank our listeners for just especially the ones in the room right now that have taken the time to volunteer and they want to hear from you because when they hear from you, they are that much more inspired by their trip here and for when they go back home. It's so many times we, I feel like, Satan tries to isolate us as if we're the only ones that care. We're the only ones that are doing anything. And Those kind of negative thoughts. But in reality, there are hundreds of thousands of people being impacted every day just by their radio alone. We have 163 radio stations in 34 states. And we are making. We are making an impact. And we're making an impact because of God's help and your financial support. You can call in at 8776-162396-87761-62396. And we're taking a little bit of a break this week from our radio, programming to fundraising. One, thing I want to do, but I do want to provide some content here by playing a listener testimony so you can hear the impact of what you're doing, with your financial support with afr.
Listener Testimony: How American Family Radio's Message Led to Sobriety and Spiritual Growth
Yes. My name is Gordon. I'm from Kansas. AFA saved my life. Thank you Jesus for all AFA staff. I'm a truck driver. I had an old homemade stereo in my jump seat. Every night at 11:30ish, my stereo would only pick up 88.3 for about a half hour. I was not happy to hear Tony Evans or Allen Jackson preaching Jesus. No matter what I did, that is the only sound I could get. Trivia Friday really caught my attention. The laughter, the goodness that Tim, Fred and JJ and others had was so fun and got me to listening every Friday. Then one night, Allen Jackson gives a senate prayer and I'm pulling doubles. Too late. I get my heart and I have been sober for 22 months and I've been growing in the Lord ever since. And now with AFR app, I listen every waking moment. Thank you Jesus and AFR for being warriors for Jesus. God had his hand on my radio notice. I thank him for his grace. So don't give up. Give your heart to him and he won't fail. Support afr. Thank you,
Dr. Jessica Peck: Wesley.
Wesley Wildmon: I'm a pretty steady emot emotionally, I'm pretty steady guy, but that got me there.
Dr. Jessica Peck: that got me too. I don't know what we're supposed to say. God, thank you for Gordon from Kansas. Thank you for that, man. I got tears in my eyes. That is a beautiful, beautiful thing. And such an example of the power of God's word and just. I don't even know what to say to that except for if you want to call in as a blessing to Gordon and to continue to reach others, call at 877-616-2396. That's 8-7-7. I'm still emotional.
The Power of Community: Finding Strength and Motivation in Shared Faith and Ministry Efforts
616-2396.
Wesley Wildmon: My Paw Paw would always say, keep on keeping on and that is a testimony of us keeping on, keeping on. Because it was one thing that led to another, that led to another, that ultimately, he softened his heart. That is, Gordon softened his heart to the message of the gospel that was played on American Family Radio. It was played right here on American Family Radio. The number is 8776-1623-96877616, 2396 or visit afr.net so that you can help us financially. You know, and I did mention as we were coming off the program yesterday in the last 30 seconds, that I do want to pause and say, I do understand there are some family, situations or individual circumstances where you can't financially support us. And we completely understand that. Just please continue to think about us, pray for us. And when we send email alerts out where you can tangibly make a difference for God's glory in your community or across the country, please be active on those things because we try to make it as easy as possible.
Making a Difference: Measuring Success Through Impact and Reflecting God's Love in Our Lives
And you can get those alerts by signing up for our email because that's one of the primary ways that we connect with our listeners is through we send a daily, well, the American, we've got a couple different email lists, but our AFA main email list, we only send out one, maybe two emails a week. And when those. And those are really thought out and very, very tangible ways for you to make a difference on those, one or two per week. So we're not overwhelming you with the, general list, but we give you
Dr. Jessica Peck: good information there, even if you can't give financially. Our volunteers would love to hear from you, get you on our email list. You can call in with a donation of any amount at 877-616-2396-8776-162396. Wesley I actually was just recently interviewed by a magazine in Houston, and they were asking me about how do I measure success? And I really did some thinking about that and some soul searching about that, because the world's view of success is just this list of accomplishments and accolades. And, you know, you can look at those things and, those things that I've accomplished in my life have just been tools that God has used to open doors. But really I measure success by the impact on other people. How do other people see the gospel reflected in me? How do they see. How does my life point them to an eternal hope in Jesus Christ? That is the ultimate measure of success, first and foremost to my family and then to other families. And I'm So grateful for the way that American Family Radio gives me the opportunity to speak into the homes of so many families who are looking for help and for hope. And I am really, honestly just so grateful for our listeners and the way that they tune in, because that tells me their heart is to search for God. Their heart is to be disciples of Christ. And that is such a shining light and such a measure of success of the ministry of American Family Radio. It is shown in Gordon from Kansas. I mean, that's amazing.
Wesley Wildmon: And stories like that remind you there's no coincidence in his story, because the fact that he couldn't get any other station for 30 minutes, he couldn't hear any based on the signal or whatever the circumstance was. He could only get AFR for about 30 minutes a day. And it was so happened to be a pastor teaching the gospel. hey, listen, let me tell me, pause here for a minute because I haven't been on Trivia Friday, but that's not the first time we've gotten a compliment about how we take a little bit of fun and humor on Fridays. And that drew him in. the Bible is clear. That cheerful, heart is good medicine for the soul, and laughter is good medicine for the soul is another translation. And so, you know what? I'm happy that we got that Trivia Friday. I know that it has absolutely nothing to do with the culture at all and has nothing to do with families at all.
Dr. Jessica Peck: It's about relationship, and it's about being people. You can call in at 877-616-2396. That's 877-616-2396. You can go online to afr.net and that was not a coincidence that, he could only get that radio station that is evidence of a God who pursues his people.
Sharing God's Love: How American Family Radio Orchestrates Miracles and Brings People Together
That that's evidence of a God who leaves the 99 and goes after the one who orchestrates miraculous circumstances so that he can show his love to those who are lost, those who are looking for it, those who we know God is close to, the brokenhearted, those who are crushed in spirit. We know that God is there for those, for people. And it's such a blessing to be able to step into the work of American family radio, to be able to put that hope out on, blast. I love it. 877-616-2396. Help us reach our goal of $4,000,000. We're really, really close. 877-616-2396 afr.net Help us finish strong. A contribution of Any amount. We are a listener supported ministry. It takes a lot of resources. I have an amazing team and looking behind, I did not know that my board operator here had a nickname behind the scenes that was unbeknownst to me. You have Richard here that he's called Richie Rich. Didn't know that, but I got Richie Rich. We've got Marty here working video. I've got my producer Stephanie here. So many people behind the scenes. Just for this one show. We actually just took a team photo that we're going to post later. So many people who use their gifts and talents. It's such a beautiful picture of the body of Christ coming together. Everybody using their gifts to be able to provide encouragement that's on this show. If you've been blessed in any way, we would love for you to call in at 877-616-2396-87761-62396.
Wesley Wildmon: We have $125,000 challenge where a group of supporters have come together and isolated a certain amount, in this case $125,000 up until 5pm Central time to challenge you to help us meet that $125,000 challenge up until 5pm Central Time.
Dr. Jessica Peck: You know, one of the fun things that happened, we get to be in Shareathon Central here. That's where we're broadcasting from Wesley And I hear the volunteers talking to some of the callers that come in. And yesterday my producer Stephanie, she was listening and she said, well, thank you Mr. So and so for call from your combine. He was riding his combine and listening to afr and it turns out he is not the only one. So if you're listening and you're driving a combine right now, you need to call in at 877-616-2396. We talked about this earlier this week, Wesley. I've heard from listeners who ride motorcycles across the country, who are drive postal trucks, who are law enforcement out polling the street, patrolling the street. We have an army of grannies who are in the car pickup line at this time of day, mamas who are in the pickup line. We have dads who are wanting to connect with their kids. We have people listening at work. We have people listening all over. And it's so exciting to see like from all different states. So I'm going to challenge you. If you are driving around, pull over and call us at 877-616-2396. And I want to do a special call for my Texas people.
Wesley Wildmon: Do it.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I, I'm an obnoxious Texan. Wesley, I apologize. Kind of really. Actually, think we should have a little competition between Texas and Mississippi here. Let's see who we can get more callers from Texas or Mississippi. Back in my shirt, say, it says team Mississippi.
Wesley Wildmon: That's right.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Okay. All right. Okay. Well, that's okay. I'm. I'm a little scared to give the number now. Come on, Texas people. Don't let me down. 877-616-2396. That's 877-616-2396 Call in, tell the volunteers if you're from Mississippi or Texas, we really, frankly, you can call from wherever you're from. We would love to have you give afr.net or 877-616-2396 that's 877-616-2396. We just passed the $3.5 million mark. Yay. We are so close. We are round in the corner and we are headed home.
Listener Letters: A Glimpse into the Impact of American Family Radio's Ministry
And I hope you'll head back back with us after this break. Wesley and I are going to share our boxes of listener letters. You won't want to miss it. I'm starting from Australia. I'll see you on the other side of this break.
Without people like you, this podcast would not exist
Hello, I'm Jessica peck, host of Dr. Nurse Mama. Did you know that this content is listener supported? Without people like you, this podcast would not exist. And that's why we need you. A generous monthly gift of any amount will help sustain American family radio and specifically this podcast. Please consider becoming a monthly financial partner today by visiting afr.net/give that's afr.net/give After crossing the Jordan river into the Promised Land, God instructed the children of Israel to take stones from the river and make a memorial. When their future children would say, what do these stones mean? The parents would recount the Lord's deliverance of Israel from slavery and Israel's arrival in the Promised Land. In each of our lives, there are events that ought to be remembered. Events where the Lord moved and delivered us. Whether we use stones, photos, or special celebrations, it matters only that we take time to remember what the Lord has done and pass that testimony on to future generations. Since 19, since 1977, the American family association has been informing, equipping, and activating individuals to strengthen the moral foundations of America. The Lord has given us many victories over the years that laid the foundation for our work today and into the future. Learn [email protected] Afr has done so much for me and kept me going every day I got up and listen to them and I just want to say it's a better world with them than without. Thank you. Christ is my firm, foundation, it's Shareathon on American Family Radio and we're standing firm in the faith and doing everything in love. Call now at 877-616-2396 or give [email protected] and thank you for your support of AFR during Share A Thon.
Celebrating Anniversaries: AFA and American Family Radio's Legacy of Faith and Growth
Wesley Wildmon: Help us continue to stand firm here. We're on 50 year anniversary of AFA. We're on 35 year anniversary of American Family Radio. American Family Radio has been around for 35 years. Help us continue to stand firm in the faith by calling the number 877-616-2396. That's 877-616-2396 or visit afr.net so that you can financially help us continue the work that we're doing. There's ah, a really, it's grown quite a bit over the years and in our growth we have grown more listeners, more supporters and we've also grown in our department and the size of the ministry we have and our resources continue to grow and we need your help financially. Call 861-62396.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Jessica Peck here with Wesley Wildmon. So excited to be in Sherathon Central and we have a little friendly competition going on right now because I'm a Texas girl and you're a Mississippi boy and we want to hear especially from everybody, but especially we're having a competition between Texas and Mississippi. Call in 8776-1623-9687-7616, 2396. Now Marty here on video has just told me that the population ratio in Texas And Mississippi is 10 to 1. So he is trying to say that one caller from Mississippi equals 10 callers from Texas. And you know what I say to that? Game on, Marty. Game on. 877-616-2396. Bigger and better in Texas. Come on, my Texas people. I know we have a Houston station. If that is you call in right now. 8776-1623-9687-7616, 2396. If you're on your combine, you call in too. If you're on a combine in Texas, man, I want to talk to you myself. 877-616-2396 or afr.net I've been, I've had
Wesley Wildmon: the privilege to do several different events over the last 15 years in Texas. I've been to, Dallas, Texas. I've been to a couple of the places just on the outside of D. Texas. I've also been to. Been to Conroe. I've been to Houston, Texas.
Dr. Jessica Peck: The best.
Wesley Wildmon: I can't. We may have been. Oh, is that it? Been to. I've been to Austin, Texas.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Okay, I'm sorry.
Wesley Wildmon: No, exactly.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I'm kidding.
Wesley Wildmon: There's a. There's some people hanging out. Christian conservatives hanging in Austin.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I'm an H town girl. I really am trying.
Wesley Wildmon: There's a couple other places now. I'll tell you what. I've also now haven't been there, but I have traveled.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Okay.
Wesley Wildmon: The like, like a horseshoe. If you think about that way all the way down to now. This was not for an event. This was when I worked with the engineer department. Oh, the Valley, Del Rio.
Dr. Jessica Peck: the Rio Grande Valley.
Wesley Wildmon: I've been there. I've also been to. Love it. I mean, it was a whole circle through Texas. Took all week.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I bet it did just get halfway around. Call in 877-616-2396. Help us get to $4 million. 877-616-2396. Now, here's something exciting. Now, Texas is a really big place, and it can seem really far away if you're going from the east part of Texas to the west part of Texas all the way out to El Paso. But you want to know where it's really even farther, Wesley, is Australia. Now, you and I, if anybody's watching the video, you and I have our letter boxes here. Now, yours may be heavier than mine.
Wesley Wildmon: Yeah. not. Maybe mine's for sure heavier. Okay.
Dr. Jessica Peck: It's a lot heavier than mine, but it's. Mine's prettier than yours. Yours is a sad, sad cardboard.
Wesley Wildmon: Listen, but this time next year, I'm gonna get my daughters to bedazzle it. How about that?
Dr. Jessica Peck: I. Wait, I'm writing that down. You just said that live on the radio. I'm recording it. I'm gonna definitely coming back, girl.
Wesley Wildmon: You know, I'm a guy, so I'm gonna have to write it down so I don't forget.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Girls, you gotta bedazzle daddy's box. I mean, it needs some help. It really needs some help. I know. Okay. I bet your wife Chelsea is on it. Well, I wanted to share a listener letter. You inspired me with your box. But my box is a little more artistic. I'm gonna go first. Okay. All right. This is a letter I got, and I'm gonna read it to You, Marty,
Wesley Wildmon: can they see this on the video?
Dr. Jessica Peck: You know we're gonna see? Yeah, because people want to see your, your cardboard box. So it's, it's really, it's something to behold. Okay, that number is 877-616-2396 Calling for Texas, 8776162396 All right, so this is. Listen, listen to this, Wesley. This, this really. This was such a great letter. All, right. This says I've been listening to your show. And this, this is written to me. I've been listening to your show for the past few months. I discovered you through AFR as I was scouring the Internet for a gospel centered Christian radio station. Turns out there are not many of them. One day as I was listening to the live AFR and your show was playing, I kept listening. I know your podcast is sometimes directed to women and that's true. Although we have lots of content for men. I've gotten a lot out of it as a man. I have a long commute to work, so I take advantage to fill my mind with things of God. Your recent episode with Tara Dew was so timely. God has been working in my life and that episode really helped me, especially when it came to loving people and how hard that can be as well as God pruning away in my life. That really helped me to understand the vine and the branch metaphor and really helped me make sense of what I've been going through lately. So thank you so much for your show. It really helps. You're making a difference. And that is from a young man all the way in Australia. How amazing is that? I thought that was just really, really cool. That number again is 877-616-2396. If you want to keep us on the air so that people in Australia can be encouraged, it's 877-616-2396.
Wesley Wildmon: Alright, so I have to confess something. I was doing what guys do. I was making notes so I didn't forget. And then I missed, I missed the main point here or, one of the main points. Okay, how did he finish? How did she find you?
Dr. Jessica Peck: He, as a young man, he, he was looking for a gospel centered radio station. On the Internet. Yes. He was googling on the Internet looking for a radio station that was giving Christian content. And what he said in the letter was, turns out there are very few of them. And that's how he found American Family Radio. Wow.
Dr. Jessica Peck: to be encouraged in his faith because we do see radio is, you know, radio is kind of a, a place that's touchy right now, you know, because so many people are listening to streaming content and podcast, although we have that too. We do. We have the best of both worlds, live radio and streaming content.
Wesley Wildmon: Yeah. And over the, over the last five years we've really emphasized our, a lot of financial resources and growing our Internet radio presence. So that's a good testimony to have.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yeah.
Wesley Wildmon: Because we've been working hard on that in our AFR app. Yeah, we're in the process, by the way, just a little inside baseball here. In the next month or two, our app will be updated, really well. It'll be even better than it is now. So that's something else we're spending some financial resources on right now, is updating our AFR app to be all things, be more user friendly, be able to hold more content on there and be very organized and easy to use. And so we're working on that right now with our AFR app. So our AFR app, I mean, there is no signal distance.
Dr. Jessica Peck: That's right.
Wesley Wildmon: Yeah.
Abraham Hamilton III: On the app.
Wesley Wildmon: I mean if you're.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Anybody can use.
Wesley Wildmon: That's right. Because if you think about a map and you think about a radio tower, each tower has a certain radius that once you get outside the radius, you
Dr. Jessica Peck: know, when you're outside the radius, it starts going.
Wesley Wildmon: Yeah, that's right. Yeah. But with the app, of course you can, it can go anywhere. So.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yeah. Did you like my sound effects there? Okay. Yeah, you're welcome. That was, that was really professional right there. 87761. We're still having a competition between Mississippi and Texas. But hey, if you want to represent your state and say, hey, we're going to overtake it, call it 877-616-2396. Do you have a letter to share?
Wesley Wildmon: I have a letter to share. In fact, I've got a whole bunch of letters, but I'll share.
Dr. Jessica Peck: You just. You are really rubbing it. Okay.
Wesley Wildmon: Before I read mine, where did you get that box you handmade that?
Dr. Jessica Peck: actually I wish I could say that Marty made it because I learned from Abe Hamilton that Marty is, is, Let me make sure I say this right. A wood aholic. He cannot stop buying and whittling wood. But he did not make it. Alas. I got this from the very elite, very exclusive, very designer store, called Walmart.
Wesley Wildmon: Okay. Okay, that answers my question. It is a nice looking box. You know, it could use some color though.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I, you know, I know. I just got it.
Wesley Wildmon: And markers after.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I'll have my Kids. K. My kids can decorate my box. Your kids decorate your box and we'll bring them back.
Wesley Wildmon: I like that. Okay. All right. Dear. Dear afa, we appreciate your ministry. You go to great lengths to investigate and to understand the type of forces that we are in. We are intended. That we're intent on undermining. okay. Undermining our nation and our Christian faith. We appreciate Mr. Don Wildmon being so faithful. He knew that if you don't stand up to bullies, they will become more. They will become more and more. Grow. They will grow more and more. Thank you to the Wildmon family and to AFA for keeping up the fight for religious liberty, for our Constitution and most importantly, our Lord himself. The Lord bless you and keep you from Brenda and Gary. I won't say her last name. I didn't get permission to, but Brenda and Gary from, Many from Minnesota. Minnesota.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Minnesota.
Wesley Wildmon: Minnesota. Right there.
Dr. Jessica Peck: That's amazing. Well, hey, if you're from Minnesota, you can call in at 8776-162396-8776-162396. And I am, Oh, here, I'll share this one. Actually, this is a good one. I'll share another one here. You can tell it's a little wrinkled and I was reading it while I was.
Wesley Wildmon: That's good. That's. It really is a good idea. I know I've been a little sarcastic here in a minute, but that's a good idea. You print it off an email.
Abraham Hamilton III: That's.
Wesley Wildmon: I've. I started doing that as well.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I did well because I really wanted to keep. Some of them are just really special. Okay, this one says, I want you to know how much I enjoy listening to your show each day on my drive home. I'm a middle school math teacher, wife of 27 years and a mom to a 19 year old son in college. And your words seem to meet me right where they end, where I am more often than not. That is all the Lord. That is all the Lord. Over the past few years, I felt the Lord working in my heart about my walk with him. Especially around the idea of faith becoming something we check off rather than something we truly live. It's something that I've heard you touch on during your show and it resonated deeply with me. Out of that, I began writing not as an author, but simply for myself. I was trying to process what God was teaching me and answer questions I'd personally struggled with. What came from. That was a devotional. Truthfully, I never tend to publish it. But listening to your show encouraged me to take that step. And I believe that this is the message I was meant to write. And so she wrote a devotional from just what the Lord was working. And she has published it. I have, had some correspondence with her and she has published that devotional. Isn't that amazing?
Wesley Wildmon: That is amazing.
Walker Wildmon: Yeah.
Wesley Wildmon: you know what? Hopefully one day. Hold on. You said you have already seen it or.
Dr. Jessica Peck: You know, I know that she's published it.
Wesley Wildmon: Okay, wonderful. That's great.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I know that she did. And that is really. And actually the devotion devotional is called Jesus Isn't a Checkbox. And so I'll. I'll put that.
Wesley Wildmon: That's a great title.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Isn't that a great title? You can call in and support at 877-616-2396. That's 877616, 2396. Or you can go to afr.net when I'm looking down what we've done, Wesley, these amazing listeners we have have already raised more than a hundred thousand dollars since we have come on the air. We have 125000 challenge going all the way till 5, but we might just blow it out of the water by 3. I think Central time here. That's amazing.
Wesley Wildmon: So we tracking pretty good on that then.
Dr. Jessica Peck: We're tracking amazing on that. And that's our. That's all of our listeners, so grateful to you.
Wesley Wildmon: Starting with Mississippi, but yeah, that's good.
Dr. Jessica Peck: And ending with Texas. 8776-1623-9687-76162396 We have a couple of volunteers who are not on the phone. Put them on the phone call and say hello. 877-616-2396. A donation of any amount. We are so grateful for every penny and I know that AFR stewards that so well.
Wesley Wildmon: So I am, You may know this or may not, but I am dyslexic and I cannot read very well.
A Treasure Trove of Letters: Preserving Listener Testimonies for Future Generations
Dr. Jessica Peck: I did not know.
Wesley Wildmon: I have. I want to emphasize I have a box full of. Of long letters that are very powerful that we have transcribed some of them and put on our website that you can read. But I've kept mine because we're on live radio.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Okay.
Wesley Wildmon: To the shorter ones. So I do have. But I do have the long. just from competition standpoint, I've got some. Is. Is long or longer than yours, but. Okay.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I like how you did that. You're telling me something about yourself so I can't say anything. But you're still Trolling. All right, Wesley, I will take the high ground here because I am older and wiser. But. 8, 77-616-2396. We would love to have you call in at 877-616-2396. But every. Every letter is amazing.
Wesley Wildmon: That's right. So here's a shorter one, okay. For me, okay? It says, thank you or thank you is never enough for truth, freedom, and Jesus that you give to America on afr. please keep up the good fight. God bless you, Stan and Donna from, Arkansas. Stan and Donna, from Arkansas. So thank you so much for. This handwritten note is, on a post. It's on a postcard that's got American flag on the front. And we've got. I've got a whole box that I've collected over the years.
Dr. Jessica Peck: How many times are you gonna say that?
Wesley Wildmon: Hey, I wish I would have started. I wish I would have been keeping them from the very beginning. The first four or five years, I didn't keep them. And then I just. I had a moment about 10 years back. I was like, I. I just can't in good conscious throw this away. I don't know if it'll ever be used again at the time. Yeah, but I'm gonna keep them. And now, now we're going through a
Dr. Jessica Peck: couple of them, but there may be a museum one day where they put this. But, you know, to me, we do
Wesley Wildmon: got so a couple ways, okay. A couple creative ways we found to use these over the years. Okay? We've got. Like I said, I took some of the long ones and I put them on every. Put them on our website. And in addition to that, not only did I put them on our website, I got a couple of them that we've put in, like, a binder where we've put them out in the hallway.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Wesley, I didn't hear anything that you just said. I'm sure it was absolutely amazing. All I hear is from Tony right here, who just came and gave me hot off the press. This is so exciting. Are you ready?
Wesley Wildmon: I'm ready.
Dr. Jessica Peck: We are tied right now between Texas and Mississippi. 18 callers from Texas and 18 callers from Mississippi. And I see Marty going over there to argue, to say we need 180 callers from Texas. Let me tell you, I can see him over there. He is animated. He is adamant. Texas, get on the phone. One Mississippi, eight seven, seven, six. One, six two, three, nine, six. Come on, Mississippi. Eight, seven, six. two, three nine six. The stars at Night. See, that's how you call Texans. If you know somebody's Texas. Our, Texas. Yes, I know our state song. 877-616-2396. We've gone off the rails and I love everything.
Wesley Wildmon: Me too. I think our listening audience appreciates it. we do. We do kind of get with all the snacks and the desserts that around here at every corner during Shareathon you can get a little delirious. Hey, we. We do have a special guest. Okay, next segment.
Dr. Jessica Peck: We do.
Wesley Wildmon: I know, but we're not going to tell you who it is.
Walker Wildmon: No.
Wesley Wildmon: So that you have to come back.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yes.
Wesley Wildmon: In the third segment.
Dr. Jessica Peck: This does not happen very often. It's only happened once that I know of.
Wesley Wildmon: I, rarely happens.
Dr. Jessica Peck: It very rarely, rarely happens.
Wesley Wildmon: And there's a reason for that. And I'll explain why that reason.
Dr. Jessica Peck: And if you think we've gone off the rails now, you just wait. You can call in at 8776-1623-9687-7616, 2396. Keep our volunteers busy and come on, Texas all.
Wesley Wildmon: Ah, right. Here's another one as a handwritten note, from a listener. I, don't have a. I don't have a state here, but I'll read it for us. It says, hello, afa, thank you for all that you do. We appreciate all that you do and all the programs. We've learned a lot from listening to the station here. Here is our fall share a THON pledge for the second quarter of the year. Hope you all have a great week. May the Lord bless you from. What's that? How do you pronounce that last name? Good luck. Right?
Dr. Jessica Peck: I wouldn't even.
Wesley Wildmon: I wouldn't even know where to begin. That's why you got Google. You can type it in there and tell it to pronounce it for you. But hey, thank you. the first name was Matthew. Thank you, Matthew, for this handwritten note and for your. Your fall Sheriathon pledge that you sent in already. Free share.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Well, I have a Christmas card here, which I got a Christmas card. You know how much I love Christmas. We had a Christmas cake yesterday. Thank you, Stephanie Austin, for making our Christmas cake. A little Debbie, by the way, she
Wesley Wildmon: was a little offended yesterday when I said, well, we don't know because we haven't tried it yet. I did try it and it was good, wasn't it? It was really good.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I know. She said, no cake for Wesley. No cake for Wesley. No cake for Wesley. But we, we want to extend the invitation. Come on, Texas. We're having a competition between Texas and Mississippi. 877-616-2396. I'll tell you what this Christmas card says and we'll have our special guest right when we come back. Go to afr.net and come back after the break.
Pastor Erwin Lutzer from the American Family Studios documentary The God Who Speaks
Pastor Erwin Lutzer from the American Family Studios documentary the God who Speaks.
Pastor Erwin Lutzer: I remember when I was in Bible college, I said to myself, I can believe in the NewSong Testament, but it's hard for me to believe in the Old Testament. And then I realized something. I can't believe less than Jesus believed. He not only affirmed the Bible of the Old Testament, but, but he also affirmed its stories. I mean, obviously he believed that Jonah was swallowed by a fish. He believed in Adam and Eve. And you can go through his ministry and you say, wow, Jesus believed in the Old Testament in every detail. And if we are his followers, we have to believe what he believed. Visit thegodwhospeaks.org Executive Vice President Ed Vitagliano
Ed Vitagliano: I came to AFA in 1996. Now, I have been paying attention to politics and culture since I had been in, like, the seventh grade. But what I discovered when I came here to AFA is what a lot of people, I think, discover when they start listening to American Family Radio or start reading the magazine or read they, they familiarize themselves with the content produced by afa. I found out what a lot of those folks find out, and that is, there were serious issues Even back in 1996, serious cultural trends and serious spiritual trends which were posing an existential threat to liberty in this country and our, foundational principles and to the Christian faith. And so as I began to, do research and read and pay closer attention to what was going on, I realized that the threat was dire and the future could be grim if Christians did not get involved. The fact that American Family Raised Radio is a Christian ministry. We're not just a political ministry. We're not just a cultural ministry. We are a Christian ministry. So the, the calling for people who work here, who are, who listen, who follow the prompts of our action alerts online, who get involved in the culture around them. This is a Christian endeavor. We care about the souls of the, the people around us and we care about the soul of our nation. So, yes, these kinds of things that are happening in our country can be, can weigh on folks, but the fact that this ministry is bathed in prayer, that it is focused on the word of God, gives great encouragement even in the midst of the battle. So we ask people to, come alongside American Family Radio and in a sense work with us kind of shoulder to shoulder on the battle line, loving our enemies, but also standing firm for the truth. So we depend on people supporting us financially. I always love what brother Don always said on the air during. He would say, we're not going to treat our listeners like kids. They're adults and they understand it takes money to, fund a ministry like this. But I can't think of anything more worthy of, the support of Christians other than the work of the church itself. as a, non profit organization. American Family Radio is on the front lines and we go, we go where no one else else wants to go a lot of times. And we talk about things that nobody else wants to talk about because it's important. These things are important to discuss. And as people kind of tune in to afr, they find out what's really happening and we take that responsibility seriously. my name is Fern from Starkville, Mississippi. I've been listening to AFR for decades and been encouraged and inspired by the God honoring music. The, Bible centered messages by David, Jeremiah and Adrian Rogers and Jon MacArthur and others. I've enjoyed hearing the sound family guidance given by Dr. Nurse, Mama and James Dobson and the biblical worldview taught by David Wheaton, and the political commentary given by Abraham Hamilton iii. Understanding the Times by Jane Markell is also very good to hear and I appreciate all the things that I hear that keep my mind focused on God and positive things to hope for. Thank you so much. Sharathon continues on American Family Radio.
Wesley Wildmon: Faithful through generations. So why would he fail now? He won't.
Jeff Chamblee: Let's stand firm in the faith and do everything in love. Call now at 877-616-2396 or give [email protected] and thank you for partnering with AFR during Share A Thon.
Wesley Wildmon: Okay, y' all are just gonna have a. Y' all are just gonna have. The listening audience is just gonna have to give us a second. Yep, I have made a mess here. I, have spilled my coffee everywhere.
Dr. Jessica Peck: In my lap.
Wesley Wildmon: In your lap?
Dr. Jessica Peck: You poured it right in my lap. Wesley, you're taking this competition too far.
Wesley Wildmon: That's fair.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Hello, everybody. It's Jessica Peck here. Doctor, Nurse, Mama. Usually you hear me in this hour with my professor brain, my hands on nursing experience, my heart as a mom. I'm here coming to you from Sharathon Central with my wingman Wesley.
Wesley Wildmon: And I was showing out is what happened. I turned my shirt around so that
Dr. Jessica Peck: watch, you can see that team Mississippi
Wesley Wildmon: needs to win this Texas Mississippi challenge here. And in my process of showing off, what usually happens, you dumped, your
Dr. Jessica Peck: coffee cup in my lap.
Wesley Wildmon: Goodness gracious. I'm sorry.
Dr. Jessica Peck: All across the table. So here's the thing. We're having a competition between Texas and Mississippi. When we left at the break, we were tied 18 to 18. Now, Marty here, my video operator, thinks it's 180 to 18 because the population ratio of Texas to Mississippi knows it. No. So I'm telling you, if you're from Texas and you feel bad for me because Wesley just poured a whole cup of coffee in my lap, call at 877-616-2396. That's 877-616-2396. I don't care if you have your team Mississippi shirt on Wesley, in order
Wesley Wildmon: to break the tie here. Yeah, because it's a. It's a close race with, Texas.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Okay.
Wesley Wildmon: It's a close race. Just a 10 to 1. In order to break this close race out of the, to blow this close race out of the water, we got another Mississippian here that I need you to call. I need you to call in the principal's here. And I need you to give to AFR at 877-616-2396. And I need you to give because we have more Mississippians on, Dr. Peck's program right now. Our. We have a special guest, as we mentioned.
Dr. Jessica Peck: That's true.
Wesley Wildmon: And the reason it is special because he and I are hardly ever on the radio at the same time. We want to introduce our guests.
Dr. Jessica Peck: I would love to introduce your guest. I have the Wildmon brothers here together. I understand that does not happen.
Wesley Wildmon: Joining together against the Texans.
Dr. Jessica Peck: You have both been on my show once before, and that was one of my highest rated shows, actually. And I asked you on that show who was your paw's favorite? So you have met Wesley. You all know Walker. He needs no introduction. Vice president here, American Family Association.
Walker Wildmon: Thank you for having me on how this happened. So folks know, by the way, the number is 877-616-2396. We need folks from Mississippi calling in right now. I didn't know there was a competition, but now I do know how this happened is at lunch, I joked with Dr. Peck and Wesley that, you know, they're together every day for an hour on the program during Shareathon And I just. I've never been invited, all things considered.
Wesley Wildmon: Exceptionally well.
Walker Wildmon: So it was one of those things where I was kind of complaining a little bit, and then I got invited, so I couldn't turn them down. Here I am.
Wesley Wildmon: We got an update.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Why don't you guys go ahead? I'll let you do it.
Wesley Wildmon: So really that I don't think they heard you.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Say it again. I'm sorry.
Wesley Wildmon: Okay. Texas, 22, Mississippi 200.
Walker Wildmon: I think it's. I think it's rigged.
Dr. Jessica Peck: 877-616-2396. Come on, Texas. Come on, Texas. And especially if you are listening to that north Houston station, Houston. H. Town is my town. Call in 877-616-2396. If you like the.
Wesley Wildmon: Quit calling now. It's not.
Wesley Wildmon: They can't catch the. This.
Dr. Jessica Peck: If you want to root for the Texans, if you want to help families in Houston. 877-616-2396. It's. Hey, help a girl out. It is two to one here. 877-616-2396 And don't forget, I got Mississippi coffee in my lap
Walker Wildmon: You know, we're supposed to be on the same team here. See, I came down for this last segment of Shareathon with you.
Wesley Wildmon: You and I are all on, and
Walker Wildmon: I just didn't know that I kind of stepped into something pretty. Pretty tense here. We got a competition between two microphones.
Wesley Wildmon: how did this start? Well, here's. Here's one thing's for sure, the break came at a good time because I was starting to really feel it inside. So you had to go out in
Walker Wildmon: the hallway, like, Well, I would.
Wesley Wildmon: Well, I was just. I had my blinders on, and I was just trying to win at the expense. Then. Then I was like, here's one way I can win. I could pour coffee in her lap, get her off track.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Well, here's the thing.
Walker Wildmon: She didn't even go anywhere. She stayed right in her seat.
Dr. Jessica Peck: But here's the thing, actually, Walker, usually Wesley and I are in competition with you. You.
Dr. Jessica Peck: You are the undisputed king, the undisputed champion of Shareathon. You always raise the most.
Walker Wildmon: We give out the number 750 times per hour. No, I'm kidding.
Wesley Wildmon: Oh, wow.
Walker Wildmon: At least 100 times.
Dr. Jessica Peck: 8, 7, 7, 6, 1 6, 2, 3 9 6. So we said if you came on the show, your numbers are ours.
Walker Wildmon: We can get our numbers up. 8, 7, 7, 6, 1623-9687-7616-2396 afr.net no, this has been a fun time. I do enjoy listening to you guys and the banter. The Ladies, challenge that we have going on to wrap up Shareathon over the next, let's say hour and 10 minutes, we have a $25,000 challenge, in the Share a thon strong challenge, if you will. Thanks to everyone who's called in. Seriously.
Culture Transforming Work: American Family Radio's Impact on Families and the Nation
Walker Wildmon: Dr. Peck's program provides daily encouragement for families all around the country. Grandparents get to tune in and get, grandparenting advice. All of this is centered at us living godly lives and impacting culture and our families for God's glory. So, so thank you so much to everyone who's called in. And we have a lot of fun here, and that's good. Laughter is good medicine for the heart, but we're about culture transforming work. So thanks to everyone who's called in. 877-616-2396.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Hey, that's my boss saying that. So I appreciate the affirmation there. 877-616-2396. But in all seriousness, I'm so grateful to your family because your family has such a legacy of faith. And that is what we talked about yesterday. We have a lot of different families in different places in life who are listening in. We have families who come from generations of faith who are like yours, who have a grandfather and a father and now sons and grandsons carrying on the tradition. And we have chain breakers, we have cycle breakers who are the first family to say we want to live for Christ and they need resources to do that. And I'm so grateful to you both for giving me the opportunity to do that every day here on the radio from 2 to 3pm Central Time. That's 877-616-2396. Come on, Texas. 877-616-2396. Let's tell them we do everything bigger and better in Texas.
Wesley Wildmon: okay, I'm gonna get serious.
Walker Wildmon: These Texas folks, they're like this, though. They don't let it go.
Dr. Jessica Peck: It's very true.
Wesley Wildmon: Hey, Walker, give us a little bit, one, minute tease on tomorrow's program for the core.
Walker Wildmon: Yeah. At the core Tomorrow is going to be a special re air edition of the program because the offices are closing at noon central. So you're going to get, one of our best episodes over the last few weeks as a re air. And, every day, whether it's Rick Green or myself, we're aiming to bring you biblical commentary about the news of the day from a Christian perspective. So whether we're talking about something going on in Washington D.C. or state Capitol or a news story, culture, politics, etc. All of the commentary and the discussions are aimed, through a biblical lens to help educate our audience. And, we really need. When you look at, some of the polling out there with George Barna and things, people need to be educated on the founding of the country while we're here, while we have the freedoms that we have. Yep. The Constitution, all of this, education has to take place, and so that's what we aim to do on the The Core.
Wesley Wildmon: Wonderful, Wonderful. Well, let me help us reset. Don't interrupt. Let me reset. Let me reset the challenge here.
Walker Wildmon: Here.
Wesley Wildmon: Okay, so, I'm going to reset, and I get the next eight minutes.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Okay.
Walker Wildmon: That's the rest of the.
Dr. Jessica Peck: Wait a second.
Wesley Wildmon: Okay, I won't agree to that, but I will. I will reset. We have a challenge.
Walker Wildmon: Is that $125,000 challenge.
Dr. Jessica Peck: You probably couldn't read it. You know what?
Wesley Wildmon: I didn't even catch that yet. I'm glad you caught that. We have $125,000 challenge, and we started this program with a challenge between Texas and Mississippi.
Dr. Jessica Peck: We did.
Wesley Wildmon: And it's true. It's a close. No, it's really not close. If you did the ratio, but, like, I'm with Marty, but if you listen just for the sake of argument and so that I can bring down the temperature, my competition, my competitive spirit. It's really close. Right now, it's 20, 22 Texans to 20 Mississippians. We need Mississippians to call in. Okay? This is where this AFA began in Mississippi. This is our home state. We're at our home quarters. Okay? We need Mississippi to win when we got eight minutes for Mississippi to win. You, if you're from Mississippi, call in and give 25 cents. call and call back and call back and give another quarter. And then call back and give another quarter. Wesley, this is about winning at all cost here. 8, 7, 7, 6, 1, 6, 2, 3, 9, 6. I got six more minutes. Hang on.
Dr. Jessica Peck: No, no, no, no, no. Listen, you said you were going to lower the temperature of this competition. the only thing that's lowered the temperature is the temperature of the coffee that is in my lap right now, which is now really cold. And I'm gonna make a call out to my ladies out there. Hey, there are a lot of ladies listening out there who really appreciate having a lady host host here.
Walker Wildmon: That's true.
Dr. Jessica Peck: And I want you to call in if you want to support that content that we are giving. 8, 7, 7, 6, 1 6, 2, 3, 9, 6, 8, 7, 7. 6162396. But Wesley and Walker, the last time I had you on the show together, I did ask you a pretty controversial question that got a lot of replays because people really curious. I asked you, I'm going to ask you again. you were talking about the legacy of your papa, of Don Wildmon, who started this Yesterday we had Founders Day and I asked you who was his favorite? You, Wesley Walker or Wriley, your sister, which was the.
Walker Wildmon: I think Dr. Peck's just constantly trying to divide, I mean between the Texas and Mississippi. And then now we've got, you know, grandfather's favorite grandson.
Dr. Jessica Peck: But people are listening.
Walker Wildmon: The unifying answer, Dr. Peck and the unifying answer is everybody has their special place. All right.
Walker Wildmon: That's what we tell our kids, right?
Dr. Jessica Peck: Yeah, that's right.
Walker Wildmon: no, I was always, I was bumming the quarters for Coca Cola from my grandfather.
Wesley Wildmon: Tell them the age difference when you get through. Tell them the age of difference between you.
Walker Wildmon: You and I are about four years apart thereabouts. Wriley and I are between five and six years apart. no, Wesley would have the more serious conversations with Papa, some of the more deep theolog.
Wesley Wildmon: I was four years older at the time. Yeah.
Walker Wildmon: But I was focused on the quarter dollar sign sodas. The quarter sodas here at afr and that's what my grandfather would provide. He always had quarters in his pocket. That's how you know, he was walking around the offices.
Wesley Wildmon: So do you remember about how old you were, Walker, when papa got really sick? Because he didn't. He recovered physically after that, but he didn't recover mentally really well after that. And he lived many years after that. But when all was, I would have
Walker Wildmon: been 13 to 14.
Wesley Wildmon: Yes.
Walker Wildmon: That would have been an 0708.
Wesley Wildmon: And that goes back to when he mentioned that. So I would have been close to 17 or 18. wait, no, hold on. Say that, say that you said.
Walker Wildmon: Yeah, I would have been 13 or 14 years old. Yes, you would have been in high school.
Wesley Wildmon: Yeah, so I was around 18, 17 or 18. And at that point I was really, becoming very interested in beyond just my salvation, but understanding the truths of scripture, the history, the Bible, things like that. So I did have several really good conversations in his living room room about the Bible, about apologetics. I remember one particular conversation. I asked him something which I could tease this and maybe one day we'll talk about it. It was a, it was an open handed Christian, debate amongst the church and it, and it had been a debate amongst the church for Hundreds and thousands of years. And I remember asking about that one because everywhere I got, I got, got a slightly different interpretation. But it was because I didn't realize at the time it was an open handed issue. And so when I asked him about it, he goes, well, and I'm sitting there on the edge of my seat with my pawpaw, 17, 18 years old, just a sponge, wanting him to give me the, the answer. And I remember him saying, I finished my long way of answering it and I said, so, so what's the answer? You know, like where do I get the answer? And he goes well, what difference does that make? And I had to think about it and I thought, well that's when it made me start realizing what's open handed and closed handed. Because I would say my answer after about 30 seconds of thinking, well, not much of a difference as it relates to the Christian, faith. And I was like, okay, so it helped me understand. So he was really, he was really gracious and compassion and understanding to things that are open for interpretation. But on the other hand he was very courageous and he was a bulldog when it came to hard truths of the scripture that have been affirmed through, all through the church for decades. And he, and some of those you're going to find at the Sermon on the Mount, the ten Commandments, those were hard issues. So we got about a minute left, left. So if you're from Mississippi, if you're from Mississippi, call in at 877-616-2396. It's not over yet to 21 and,
Walker Wildmon: and if there are Texas folks 25 that like you and I, Wesley, and want to, want to attribute their gift to Texas, that's fine.
Wesley Wildmon: I mean Mississippi, this goes to 3O'. Clock. We got two minutes. The competition goes to 3O'. Clock.
Dr. Jessica Peck: In the spirit of being uniting though, I'm the new kid on the block as far as the AFR radio goes. And I can see in all of the wildman, such a servant. You really do steward this ministry so well. You care about it. You carry those values through. I've met your families and you are the real deal and I love it. And we'd love to have you call in 877-616-2396. What's the verdict? It's Texas. This is,

It's Texas. This is,
