“Immediately He made the disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowds” Matthew 14:22.

Here Jesus instructed His disciples to cross a lake and meet Him on the other side of it. As they went, they were met by a violent wind storm that halted their progress.

Often in our Christian lives we receive clear instruction from the LORD, only to be met by an obstacle that halts our progress. We must, however, recognize that the onset of a storm does not cancel out God’s instructions.

Halted progress does not equal denied destination.

When Jesus directed the disciples to go to the other side, He absolutely meant for them to get there.

Delay does not equal denial.

“Then David said to Saul, ‘I cannot go with these, for I have not tested them.' So David put them off” 1 Samuel 17:39.

As David prepared to face Goliath, Saul tried to outfit David with Saul’s personal armor. But David didn’t have Saul’s armor when he faced the lion or the bear, and David realized he did not need the armor to slay Goliath.

Today, many Christians yield to the temptation to be hipper, cooler, and even a little fuzzy on the clear teachings of Scripture in order to face the Goliaths of our day. But Jesus said, “If I be lifted up, I will draw all men" John 12:32.

We don’t need a cool light show to be an ambassador for Christ. All we need is to offer what we have freely received.

We know the transforming power of Christ because He has transformed us.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Statistics show that children who grow up without a father are 5 times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime. They’re 9 times more likely to drop out of school and 20 times more likely to end up in prison. Yet the percentage of children born to fatherless homes has skyrocketed in America. As of 2015, 25 percent of white, 53 percent of Hispanic and 73 percent of black babies are born into fatherless homes. 

While Scripture teaches that the weight of raising children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord falls upon fathers, seems like we need a movement that says fatherhood matters.

Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scoffers.

One word has proven to be debilitating in our society: the D-word.  Discrimination. 

What we fail to realize is discrimination is not automatically a dirty concept. We discriminate against thieves and murderers when we send them to prison. We discriminated against sexual predators by keeping them away from children. And yes, we rightly discriminated against men when we keep them out of women’s restrooms. 

According to Psalm 1, we have to discriminate against the counsel of the wicked in order to be blessed. Good thing God isn’t debilitated by the D-word. 

“So Aaron took it as Moses said and ran into the midst of the assembly. And behold, the plague had already begun among the people. And he put on the incense and made atonement for the people. And he stood between the dead and the living, and the plague was stopped" Numbers 16:47-48 (ESV).

Often, when the concept of intercession is raised, we normally think about prayer and we should. Prayer is one form of intercession.

Here, we see another – living intercession.

At the climax of a plague, Aaron runs into the fray, armed with incense, and where he stands, the plague stops. Aaron literally stands between the living and the dead.

May God move us to be living intercessors for our day, and where we take our stand in Christ, the plague stops!

What is the proper role of government? Romans chapter 13 outlines government’s function and it is basically this: to restrain or to punish wickedness and to reward righteousness.

Government was never intended to be our savior. Government is our servant.

As we focus on our civil occupations and our civic engagement responsibilities, let us never forget that government is not our God. We don’t put our trust in it; we put our trust in our Christ.

As a result, what we want is a government that stays out of our way and leaves room for our church to do our business of fulfilling the Great Commission.

There were added that day about 3000 souls.

The day of Pentecost concluded with 3000 converts being added to the initial body of 120 believers.  Then that 3120 spent time together daily going to the temple and interacting in each other’s homes. They devoted themselves continually to the apostle’s teaching, fellowship, sharing meals together and praying together.

The 3120 that made up the early church came from Turkey, the middle east and Africa, and included Arabs and Romans.  In addition to the geographic and ethnic diversity, they also spoke different languages.  Yet they were made one family in Christ Jesus. 

Scripture has the answer to the issues we face today.

"You shall have no other gods before Me."

In 1954, Americans lived under constant threat of nuclear attack from the USSR.  When America’s children practiced duck and cover in classrooms across the country, President Eisenhower realized that our pledge had no distinction from any other republic. 

After hearing a sermon on February 7th of that year, President Eisenhower signed a law adding the words “under God” to our pledge.  The president recognized the true source of unity, of indivisibility is unwavering submission to the God of the bible. 

As we go about our day, let us all remember the only true source of national unity is submission to Almighty God.

Thanks to an agreement between Governor Gavin Newsome and the Democrat-controlled CA legislature, 90,000 illegal aliens ages 19 to 25 will be eligible for California’s Medicaid program, known as Medi-Cal.

If approved, the Medical expansion will take effect in January 2020 and cost $98 million annually.

To help pay for it, the state will begin taxing people who don’t have health insurance similar to the Obamacare individual mandate tax penalty.

So poor Californians who can’t afford health insurance will be taxed to pay the medical bills for illegal aliens.

Makes perfect sense to regressives.

Boko Haram kidnapped a Christian woman in Kintchendi village in the Diffa region in southeastern Niger.  She was released with a letter to all Christians living in that area to “leave the town in within three days or be killed.”

According to Open Doors USA, a ministry supporting persecuting Christians globally, the Christian association of Niger has urged Christians in that area and other rural areas of Diffa to flee to the capital city of Niamey.

Please pray for persecuted brethren, that our faith may not fail.

The LORD’s Church is one body.

Sophie Lewis, who describes herself as a queer feminist communist, recently said abortion is a killing that should be defended societally.

She’s also written a book titled “Feminism Against Family” wherein she argues that if you want to dismantle capitalism you most abolish the nuclear family.

Her regressive utopian ideal calls for a proliferation of relations, a commune, to supplant the “propertarian, biogenetic, nuclear private household” as our main kinship model.

Wherever God is rejected, the next step is to destroy the family.

Anything that reflects the Creator God must be destroyed.

Objective evil exists.

The Cartoon Network, the popular television channel watched by millions of children, promoted LGBT pride month by using one of its widely popular shows to encourage fans to “stand proud.”

The Network tweeted its support saying, “We want to wish everyone a HAPPY PRIDE and encourage all our LGBTQ+ fans to stand proud all year long!”

The tweet also included a picture from its popular reboot show “Powerpuff Girls.”

The Cartoon Network is owned by Warner Bros.

 If we are not committed to evangelizing and discipling our children according to LORD’s word, someone else will disciple them according to their word.

Family is the first institution established by the Creator, God. This institution is under relentless attack. Illinois’ “Reproductive Health Act,” SB 25. Is worse than NY’s pro-baby murder law.

It repeals the state’s ban on partial birth abortion, allows babies to be killed through the 40th week of gestation, and requires insurance companies to pay for it.

It also eliminates the state’s Abortion Performance Recusal Act so that medical professionals will be forced to recommend, perform or assist in abortions.

All licensing requirements for abortuaries would be removed and pregnant minors would be able to kill their babies without parental notice… and the parents will be forced to pay for it regardless of their consent.

Joe Biden initially came out supporting a ban on federal funds for abortion.

But after one day of taking heavy criticism from the baby murder supporters among his party’s base, Biden voiced his support for using federal tax dollars to kill children.

Planned Parenthood and their acolytes pounced on Biden so viciously, he changed positions in less than 24 hours.

If a person cannot stand against the wicked hordes to protect the lives of the most vulnerable among us they are disqualified from holding the office of leader of the free world.

Religious freedom suffered another setback when the Washington State Supreme Court ruled against Barronelle Stutzman for refusing to create custom floral arrangements for a same-sex wedding.

Following the Masterpiece Cakeshop ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court ordered Washington state to reconsider the Stutzman case.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Colorado was too mean to Jack Phillip’s religious beliefs when they trampled his first amendment rights.

The Washington Court found no such meanness or animus against Barronelle Stutzman’s flower shop, so the state was right to deny her first amendment protections.

The free exercise of religion has been made subordinate to sexual deviancy.

Israel Folau, the all-time scoring leader in Super Rugby history, was kicked out of the Australian Rugby Union league and had his 4 year, $4 million contract terminated.

His crime, posting the truth about sin and repentance on social media. He posted: “drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists—Hell Awaits You. Repent!”  Then he listed several scriptures.

He was invited by the Rugby Union League to take down the post and apologize, but Folau refused to apologize for sharing God’s word.

Christian persecution in the West has begun.

“For certain men have crept in unnoticed, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying our only Master and LORD, Jesus Christ.” Excerpted from Jude 4 (NASB).

A street preacher, Pastor David Lynn, was arrested for evangelizing in Toronto’s Church-Wellesley Village area.

He spent the night in jail and his bail conditions bar him from so-called “Pride” events and from “the village” area.

The arresting officer, an open homosexual, said he arrested Pastor Lynn because of derogatory comments, even though he didn’t know what was said.  All he knew was that people clearly disturbed by the comments.

As a result, Pastor Lynn was arrested for disturbing the peace.

America is heading this way too.

ESPN’s new President, Jimmy Pitaro, has steered the network away from politics and instructed its commentators to stick to sports.

He said, “without question our data tells us our fans do not want us to cover politics. My job is to provide that clarity.  Some of our talent was confused. I don’t believe they are confused anymore.”

I wonder what data caused this course correction? Perhaps it’s the 15 million subscribers the network lost. 

Pitaro hopes his return to the network’s old direction will right the ship.

Time will tell.
