Jeanine Pirro says D.C. is extremely strict on gun permits
>> Steve Jordahl: Right, Steve O. I gotta, I want to start here. This is breaking news. This just appeared online and it confuses me a lot. I'm going to play some Jeanine Pirro for you. She's an attorney, the federal attorney in D.C. and I think she's got some second amendment issues. Now the crime is down in D.C. and a lot of it seems to be because of the introduction of federal help with the crime rate in D.C. but I don't understand this. Cut 15.
>> Jeanine Pirro: You bring a gun into the district, you mark my words, you go into jail. I don't care if you have a license in another district and I don't care if you're a, law abiding gun owner somewhere else. You bring a gun into this district, count on going to jail and hope you get the gun back.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Wow. Wow. What, what brought that on? We'll talk about the, the meat of the issue here in a second. But why she, why is she going off on.
>> Fred Jackson: Well, what has happened is that President Trump sent in the national guard and ice people to clean up D.C. because it was one of the murder capitals in the United States. The latest stats show that the numbers of murders has dropped dramatically. Jeanine Pirro was appointed, to be the federal judge representative there. She's. She's done a pretty good job.
>> Steve Jordahl: Yeah.
>> Fred Jackson: you know, President Trump has been saying, people now in D.C. can go out to have dinner in the evening again. It's safe to. Our streets are safe. But I'm glad you brought it up, Steve, because I listened to that yesterday. She did an interview with Fox, and she was touting, you know, D.C. is safe again. But then she said, just what we played. I said, we played. Wait a minute. You sound like you work for Keith Ellison, Attorney General of Minnesota there, saying that, I don't care if you have a license to carry. If you're found with a gun in my district, you're gonna get arrested. And I thought the same thing. What happened to the Second Amendment in her district?
>> Steve Jordahl: Yeah, it's very confusing to me. We're talking about mixed messages. well.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Here'S the thing. Now, there is a reciprocity amongst some states. I have a enhanced carry permit here in Mississippi. there are a number of states that recognize that if I, you know, go down to Florida, I can take my gun there legally, though I don't have a permit in Florida. They recognize the permit for Mississippi. A lot of the states in the south are this way. You get some of the bigger cities, though, and sometimes that changes. Like, I'm not sure sure about Atlanta, which is why when you get an enhanced carry, they always exhort you, you better check the laws, the reciprocity laws, in, states and cities that you're going to, because some are stricter than others. There's none in D.C. and, but, but D.C. is extremely strict. so what Jeanine, Pirro was saying is, first of all, even if you have a permit somewhere else, you bring your gun to D.C. you'd be arrested. And second of all, it's. I don't know if I heard her correctly. She's basically saying, we don't give permits here either. or at least, with very few exceptions. So you have a gun, you'll be arrested.
>> Fred Jackson: I.
>> Ed Vitagliano: The Supreme Court has ruled, on the issue of the Second Amendment. I am not an expert on this, but. But there are obviously some carve outs for cities like D.C. because they're extremely, extremely rigid on who gets one. In fact, I remember, I don't know, 10, 15 years ago, and I Don't remember the gentleman's name, but he was a columnist for the Washington Post, and he, was dead set against the Second Amendment. And then he actually had a break in and used an illegal gun to protect himself and his family. And when he called the police and everything, that became public news. And so that, to me, indicated that whatever your ideological perspective or whatever, side of the political aisle you live on, everybody knows that innocent law abiding people should be able to protect their families. And that means with a gun. I am in favor of training, enhanced carry, for example, so that people know how to use guns because they're very dangerous if you're not, if you don't know what you're doing. so I don't know whether you maybe in some of these places with a lawsuit, you know, force them to open up, you know, with some limitations, and say, listen, if you want a gun to protect your family, you've got to take a course on gun safety, how to use it. To me, that is a fair, middle ground. but, that's surprising. Steve, she's general, genuine, generally seems to me to be a pretty savvy constitutionalist. I don't know why she was going off on guns.
>> Fred Jackson: She reminds me of Judge Judy.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yeah, she's a tough lady.
>> Fred Jackson: A. Ah, tough, tough lady. Very conservative.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yeah.
>> Fred Jackson: So I was a little surprised by that. But, your explanation there, Ed, perhaps is, you know, that area of D.C. which she is in charge of, perhaps it's one of those exception zones. Yeah, we'll look into it.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yeah.
Long Beach mayoral candidate wants help getting rid of ICE in his community
>> Steve Jordahl: All right. I want. I did play this for you guys this morning as we were doing our, our story meeting. And, it shows the length to which some Democrats are willing to go to protest ice. There is a candidate in Long Beach, California. His name is Rogelio Martinez, and he, wants some help because ICE is starting to do, raids in Los Angeles. He wants some help getting rid of ICE in his community. And listen, who he's calling on. This would be, Sorry, Brent.
>> Rogelio Martinez: My name is Rogelio Martinez, your 20, 26 Long Beach City Mayor. And I need your help. I need to see 55 gang leaders here this coming Monday. The Latino gangs, the Cambodian gangs, the Filipino gangs, the black gangs, the Pacific Islander gangs. We need to take back the city. Enough is enough. ICE needs to get out of Long beach. And this is the only way that I know how to get them out peacefully, but with strong force. But peacefully.
>> Steve Jordahl: That's what I call a peaceful resolution. I call gang leaders.
>> Fred Jackson: Yeah. And gangs are known for being peaceful.
>> Ed Vitagliano: You know, listen, that guy is a blather sky.
>> Steve Jordahl: Oh, look at you.
>> Ed Vitagliano: I mean, listen. And he's a. He. He's a jabberwocky. I had a very nice lady who, communicated with me and said blatherskite. Like it. Jabberwocky is a synonym, little Lewis Carroll, for you there. It keeps me from saying something ugly.
Minnesota mayoral candidate calls for gang warfare against ICE
Okay, first, Fred, this mayor of Long beach, now, that's south of Los Angeles, right?
>> Steve Jordahl: You're Los Angeles.
>> Fred Jackson: Is he mayor or candidate for mayor?
>> Steve Jordahl: Candidate for mayor.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Candidate. Okay, so, my first thought when Steve played this this morning is, what kind of a country are we living in? When a candidate for the mayor of. Of a California city admits that there are 55 different gangs operating in the city, to the extent that he believes if they show up, they can drive out a federal agency. And then the second thing was when he said peacefully. Peacefully, but with great force. That's utter nonsense. What does that even mean? How do you drive out a federal agency duly authorized to be in your city, to go after illegal immigrants? How do you peacefully, but with great force, drive them out? He's calling for gang warfare against a federal agency and, pretending that he wants the gangs to do it peacefully.
>> Fred Jackson: I would hope the good people of, Longview Beach, Long beach, California, would say, this is a guy we cannot vote for, because we don't want the gangs running our city. I'm amazed that he went public with this. This would be like a candidate in NewSong York saying, I'm going to be. I have friends in the Mafia. Yes. And I'm calling on them. I'm calling on them.
>> Steve Jordahl: No, the fathers.
>> Fred Jackson: To give me a little hand here.
>> Ed Vitagliano: I'm calling on Don Corleone to, help me out in my political campaign. And by the way, in parentheses, yes, Don Corleone. I'll owe you. Well, I mean, what do you mean.
>> Steve Jordahl: That was actually happening? It just wasn't happening in public.
>> Ed Vitagliano: What is this? What does this mayoral candidate think? The gangs are going to ask if they were to show up? They're going to say, okay, you're going to have to give us a piece of the action. Nah. this is. This is utter nonsense. But this is what passes for political discourse now on the radical left.
>> Steve Jordahl: At the same time, we're hearing him. This is happening in Minneapolis. this is a story I read on, one of, my Twitter feeds. There's a couple that went out to, a burger place that they were saying, you have to try this burger place. So they went. And, as they were driving, this lady says Minnesota ICE protesters stopped her car, checked her license plate, and wouldn't let her pass until the plates were run and she had to show ID. She passed a small group of maybe 30 people holding, signs spelling out, what people wanted to do to ice out. Many of the houses in the neighborhood also had signs saying similar messages. When they were leaving to drive back to the hotel, they passed the group again. At that point, the resistance group stopped in front of our car and, would not let us drive. One woman appeared to be looking at our license plate and doing something on her phone. She was standing directly in front of the car, blocking us. I can't imagine being a sane person living in this city. They're visiting.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Wow, Fred. this. This was. This was equally shocking this morning in our story meeting. This, this is Minneapolis. You said this story. Minneapolis. There are roving gangs of protesters doing roadblocks and stopping vehicles and stopping traffic. I mean, how absurd is the situation in Minneapolis where the local police will not go and clear these people? Okay, Trying to, really trying to withhold insulting language. Why aren't they clearing these people off the roads? I mean, listen, we can't, If. If we went to Minneapolis, could we get a group big enough and just stop traffic and. And demand personal information and keep them from leaving so we can find out if their license plate matches something that we might be able to tie to ice? And then what happens if they do? They'll destroy the. Destroy the vehicle. What happens after that? People get scared. They floor the. They floor the gas pedal, the accelerator. They run people over. This is utter lawlessness in that city. And to Steve's point, whoever he was quoting there, how do sane people exist in a city that's lost its mind?
>> Fred Jackson: Well, this is all a result of the political leadership there. the governor of the state, Tim Walls, the mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Fry. Both, of them basically have advocated for lawlessness. They have encouraged, what we have seen in the way of protest against ICE agents in that city. I'm sure all of our listeners have seen some of the videos of what these ICE agents have had to put up with. People spitting at them, people kicking,
>> Ed Vitagliano: Rear lights of vehicles, stealing weapons and important, information, paperwork from their vehicles.
>> Fred Jackson: Yeah, they have allowed anarchy. The political leadership. They've allowed anarchy in that city. So it doesn't. In some ways, it doesn't Surprise me that these people are saying we have a green light basically to do whatever we want. So now we're going to stop vehicles here. And because the local police have been told not to cooperate with ice, I'm not surprised that the local police are stopping these people, that they're not stopping them, that they're not stopping. The protesters are basically, you have carte blanche to do whatever you want.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Well, Steve, this, this reminds me of the quote, unquote, Summer of love in 2020 in places like Seattle and Portland and Minneapolis and Minneapolis, where people basically took over, swaths of the city. And the local political, brain trust basically said, go ahead, no go zones. Yeah, you do you, and we'll stay away.
>> Steve Jordahl: And it worked out so well.
Fred Walls: Minneapolis has gone to the dogs because of its political leadership
There were businesses were burned out. This, it was an abject failure.
>> Ed Vitagliano: There was, there were, there was. There were sex crimes committed in these areas, these autonomous zones. There were murders. There was, you know, a lot of drug use. And, they, they finally dissipated and they were finally, I think, broken up. but this, this is the mentality of the people on the far left. And it's, Listen, I, I don't know.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Fred, have you talked recently to Jan Markell? She's stuck in that area. Yeah, that's. She's been. When we've had her on the show, this show, in the past, she's bemoaned the fact that that city has gone to the dogs because of the political leadership. And now this is even more frightening.
>> Fred Jackson: Jan lives on the outside of Minneapolis.
>> Steve Jordahl: But her address is.
>> Fred Jackson: A number of times she, has said she was scared to give comments because it's a war zone in that city and it's been allowed to continue. I mean, we haven't even mentioned yet, but I'll mention it now. The investigation underway into fraud. Yeah. And let me put it this way. It's not going to surprise me if the governor of the state, Tim Walz, who was almost vice president of this country.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yes, scary.
>> Fred Jackson: and the mayor of Minneapolis. It's not going to surprise me if we someday learn they were well aware of this fraud going on. You talk about lawlessness, right? They don't seem to have a problem with it. They, they, in their, in their thinking, they believe such things, such activity is justified. And I, tell you what. Minneapolis, I, I know there are good people there. I watched a hockey game from Minneapolis last night. I figure all the hockey fans are good people.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yes, that's right.
>> Fred Jackson: All right. I, I said because they behave themselves they behave themselves. Yeah, to a certain extent. I said to my wife, I'm gonna look in the stands to see if there's any anti ICE signs or anything. I didn't see anything at all. And unfortunately Winnipeg lost.
>> Steve Jordahl: Yes.
>> Fred Jackson: In overtime. In overtime, yeah. but you know, there's some really good people there in that state, but they're trapped, frankly. They are trapped.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Prisoners of, they're prisoners in the lunatic asylum.
>> Fred Jackson: They really are. And I don't know, I think if I was living there I would be seriously considering moving Louisiana Congress.
>> Steve Jordahl: Senator, John Kennedy shares your distrust of Governor Walz. got 14.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Governor Tim Walsh.
>> Jeanine Pirro: whatever he says, believe the opposite. I'm sorry. The man learned to lie before he learned to talk. He's just a less, a less masculine version of Hillary Clinton.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Ah, Senator John Kennedy. Who's, who, who's someone on the TI team that's their favorite senator. I think it's you, you love Senator Kennedy from Louisiana. So he's just a less masculine version of Hillary Clinton. That, that is a put down for the ages. Hillary and Tim Walsh.
>> Fred Jackson: I gotta say Senator Kennedy was nice. Yeah, yeah, he was nice. I've heard him when he's really cranked up. Yeah, yeah. sometimes we might not be able to, sometimes we can't put him on the air.
>> Ed Vitagliano: That's, that's a brilliant put down. Now I'm just, I'm going to tell you, I also wouldn't be surprised to know to find if we find out that Mayor Fry and Governor Walz knew about this and they were in favor of it because it's used to, to help the Somali immigrants. It's billions of dollars.
>> Fred Jackson: Yes.
>> Ed Vitagliano: and yet we're not talking about that very much because all we hear on the mainstream media is about ICE and they're quote unquote, according to Tim Walls, their atrocities that they're committing.
If two Republicans vote against spending bill then we have a government shutdown on the way
>> Steve Jordahl: Just an update right now we're watching the passage or not passage of this spending bill. The test vote is underway. right now the no votes are in the head by one vote with one Republican left to cast a vote. If that republic two Republicans voted against the spending bill which would if they can't get past this test vote then we have a government shutdown on the way. If they can't get this last Republican vote, if they do get it, then Vice President J.D. vance would have to cast the tie.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Breaking vote even in the House of Representatives.
>> Steve Jordahl: Well no, he's in the Senate. Yeah, my bad, My bad.
>> Ed Vitagliano: So what do they do if the vote is tied in the House? I guess it fails if it's a tie.
>> Steve Jordahl: That's a good. That's actually a good question.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Well, anyway, Washington's exhausting. I mean, it's just exhausting watching the inability of Congress to actually function. it's. Go ahead.
Fred Aoc says the Democratic Party is cooked ahead of 28 presidential election
>> Fred Jackson: But you said we're a deeply divided country. we only have a few minutes left, but we talked about it in our story meeting of poll. That's just out there about the 28 presidential election.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yeah.
>> Fred Jackson: And who's favorite? Kamala Harris wins for the Democrats. Kamala Harris. I was shocked by that. And number two is Governor Newsom of California. Number three, aoc.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yes.
>> Fred Jackson: So these are the people the Democrats still like and they want on the ticket in 28. I mean, it's the polar opposite. On the Republican side, it's J.D. vance.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Right.
>> Fred Jackson: Is well out in front. so we are a deeply divided country. And, I'm not sure how you resolve that. We have had years of indoctrination of our young people about socialism and communism. again, we don't have a chance to go into stories today, but we've got young people today that can add two plus two.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yeah. don't know what a man is or a woman.
>> Fred Jackson: Don't know what a man or a woman is. But you know, they're out there protesting. We had stories this week of elementary school teachers last week when the anti ICE people were holding these cross country demonstrations. We had elementary, school teachers taking their little kids out and protesting in the street against ice with or without.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Parents knowledge, of course. Oh, my. Well, look, the Democratic Party is cooked. All right. Now this is what I mean. They have been taken over by the radical wing in this party, the radical left. They've been taken over by it. That's why aoc, that's why Kamala, and and Governor Newsom are the top three in terms of, Democrat voters. So the Democratic Party is, that we all used to know. That's over.
>> Fred Jackson: Yeah.
>> Ed Vitagliano: I don't know if, mainstream liberals, classical liberals can get that party back, but the country may be cooked too. Because if that party can inspire new voters and young people to go with this communist wave in this country, then, we could continue to see this insanity gain a foothold in a city near you.
