Teaching body safety isn't about frightening our children. It's about giving them confidence and language and a safe place to turn. Psalm 62:7 8 reminds us that God is our refuge and invites us to pour out our hearts to Him. As parents, we can reflect that refuge by becoming a safe place for our children in abuse prevention. Teach correct names for their body parts, explain private boundaries, practice saying no and remind children that no adult or older child should ask them to keep secrets about their bodies. Most importantly, listen calmly when they talk, even when what they share is difficult. Body safety protects the whole child physically, emotionally, relationally and spiritually.
