Dr. Jessica Peck: If we don't intentionally shape our children's hearts, what or who is shaping them instead? Parenting is full of ordinary moments. But ordinary moments are forming our children every day. Intentionality doesn't mean having a perfect plan or turning every interaction into a lesson. It means recognizing our words, priorities, habits, and presence are constantly teaching. Deuteronomy 6, 67 reminds us to keep God's commands on our hearts. Talk about them with our children throughout the rhythms of everyday life. Faith formation happens in the car, at the dinner table, conflict at bedtime, and in the everyday choices we make when no one is watching. Choose the values you want your family to live by. Then build simple habits that reinforce them. Put your phone down. Ask the deeper questions. Pray together. Follow through. And when you miss the mark, repair and begin again. Are you intentionally shaping the family culture you want your children to carry or allowing the culture around them to shape it for you? Think about it. I'll see you on the Doctor Nurse Mama show here on American Family Radio.
