Dr. Jessica Peck: What would change in your child's life if they learned that Courage doesn't mean never being afraid. It means knowing what to do when fear shows up. Fear is a normal part of growing up. We don't want to teach our kids to ignore danger or pretend they aren't scared. We want to help them develop courage, discernment and confidence. 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and self control. Help children name their fears without shame. Teach them to pause, to breathe, to pray, to seek wise help and take the next right step. Distinguish between healthy fear that alerts us to danger and anxiety that keeps us from doing what is good and model courage yourself. Our children learn how to respond to fear by watching us. When fear shows up in your child's life, are you teaching them to run from it or helping them discover the courage to face it with God? Try it out and I'll see you on the Doctor Nurse Mama show here on American Family Radio.
