The Hamilton Corner provides pertinent insight into the legal, political, and spiritual issues of the day. Tune in for up to date Biblical Worldview commentary that plants a flag for Christ in today’s culture.
“Now the boy Samuel was ministering to the LORD in the presence of Eli.” 1 Samuel 3:1
This verse depicts the boy Samuel discharging his ministerial duties in the temple.
Eli was there, standing as a tangible audience. Nevertheless, the scripture identifies that the object and focus of Samuel’s ministry was the LORD.
As we go about our day let’s remember, though we may have tangible eyes and ears around us, though we may have bosses, employees, co-workers, or clients, the presence of company must never take our eyes off of the true object of our work. Though others may be present, we minister through our work to the LORD.

“If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here.” Exodus 33:15
Moses made this statement atop Mt. Sinai with the specter of the promised land before him.
After the burning bush, the Egyptian plagues, and walking through the Red Sea on dry land Moses stood as the deliverer to lead Israel into the land promised over 400 years earlier and declared, I don’t want to take another step unless you are with me.
Moses extolled God’s presence above His promise.
Its very easy to elevate destiny and promises over the giver of those things but we must never allow God’s promise to supplant God’s presence in our lives.

“Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.” John 15:2
No one likes to suffer difficult circumstances. In this era of easy believe-ism it's often conveyed, “If life isn’t always smooth we’re doing something wrong.”
The Scripture teaches us, however, that our LORD often meets fruitful branches with additional pruning. The pruning is not punishment. Its actually to make us even more fruitful.
If you’re in a rough spot right now, take heart. What may feel like the squeeze to end all squeezes could very well be the LORD’s pruning for additional fruitfulness.
When the LORD prunes us He does so for our good.

The American Republic was founded on the principle that rights are given to us by God, not men.
As a result, men nor government can take them away. That’s why our Declaration of Independence refers to them as “inalienable rights.”
Government’s role then is to protect the rights that God has given to us.
The first freedom listed in the Bill of Rights, which government is entrusted to protect is religious liberty.
The founders did this because they new that free exercise of religion is the fulcrum for all liberty.
Wherever the flame of religious liberty is extinguished, all liberty is imperiled.

“But we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles.” 1 Corinthians 1:23 (ESV)
In clear demonstration of the increased hostility to the name of Jesus during an episode of ABC’s daytime talk show “The View,” the name of Jesus was muted as if it were an expletive.
The hosts were discussing a British study that showed many of the U.K.’s church attenders wanted to ignore the 4 of the 10 commandments… I’m sure you can imagine which ones.
Spirituality is welcomed in modern times, even celebrated, but Jesus is the line of demarcation.

Top lawyers from Facebook and Twitter were summoned to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee to get to the bottom of Russian-linked posts and advertisements made to persuade Americans.
Facebook General Counsel Colin Stretch told the Committee the Russians generated content after the November 8th election to “foment discord about the validity of” President Trump’s election.
Instead of helping him, the Russians actually worked to sow doubt in American minds about the President’s victory.

“Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!” Psalm 107:1 (ESV)
America has a long history of giving thanks to the LORD as a nation. In 1789 George Washington, President of the young American nation which had only a few years earlier emerged from the American Revolution, called an official celebratory “Day of thanksgiving and prayer.”
When we consider all that has transpired in our personal lives, in our families, and in our nation there is only one appropriate response.
Let praise to our God flow from our lips as we gather with our families and give thanks.

In 2013 Texas State Senator Wendy Davis gained national attention for a filibuster she began to thwart a bill that would increase abortion restrictions in Texas.
She was celebrated ad nauseam by the Regressives and baby murder proponents.
Davis used her newfound fame to run for governor against Republican Greg Abbott in 2014, but lost by a wide margin.
Now, Sandra Bullock has agreed to portray Wendy Davis in a film that dramatizes her filibuster and hails her as a modern feminist hero and icon.

Good news: the U.S. backed coalition is beating the stuffing out of ISIS. They’ve retaken Mosul and nearly all of Raaqa in Syria.

Yet, the say these store closings are a “move toward growth.”

“By mercy and truth iniquity is purged; and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.” Proverbs 16:6
We live in a day when churches are filled with people ready to hear and receive God’s mercy. Unfortunately, however, it is often accompanied by a de-emphasis or concealment of the truth of God’s Word.
Paul, the salvation-by-grace-through-faith Apostle, was asked if salvation is solely a product of grace what benefit then does the law provide. Paul responded, “Without the law, I wouldn’t have known God’s righteous standard and how far away from it I was.”
Any presentation of God’s mercy absent of God’s truth is no Gospel at all.
Iniquity is purged by mercy and truth.
