I was asked recently asked what advice I could offer in the midst of the national tension we currently face. One of the things I said in response was to work toward getting completely out of debt.

So much fruitfulness and faithfulness to God has been robbed from us due to the impact of crushing debt.

One of the best things you can do for your family right now is to become debt-free.

A generation later George Bernard Shaw, a hardcore communist, seethed in hatred for William Booth and his Salvation Army of volunteers.

Apostle Paul penned his second epistle to Timothy, now an Elder in the Church at Ephesus, about 64-65 A.D. while imprisoned in Rome awaiting his imminent execution under Nero.

In warning Timothy about the coming perilous times, marked by the increased anti-Christian persecution in the Roman empire in 64 A.D., Paul directed Timothy to his speech and his feet.

In speech, Paul gave Timothy priceless Biblical instruction. In feet, Paul left Timothy a legacy of lifestyle.

Christ-following demands consistency between speech and feet.

“I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.” Jude 1:3 (NASB95).

Canada’s House of Commons has passed a bill to criminalize the public reading or quoting of the Bible on issues of marriage, sexuality, and human life. Bill C-9 was given the deceptive title, the “Combatting Hate Act.”

The legislationspeech laws, opening the door to potential criminal charges against Christians who publicly affirm the Bible’s teachings on sexuality and identity. If finally passed, the measure would effectively ban the Bible from public discourse on these matters.

Muslims invaded and conquered Spain in the 8th Century. Then, it took 7 centuries of struggle and warfare to expel the Muslim invaders. Now, Spain’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, has announced his nation has approved legal status500,000 illegal Muslim immigrants in the nation.

Because Spain is a part of the EU, his announcement also means that the newly legalized migrants can travel to any Schengen area country and can settle permanently in any EU country after 5 years.

Did Sánchez just invite Muslims to retake Spain, and by extension, perhaps the entire European Union?

The CIA Agent now turned VA Governor Abigail Spanberger campaigned as a “moderate” but her true regressive colors burst forth the moment she took office in The Old Dominion State.

She’s now signed legislation to add VA to National Popular Vote

As a result, she’s agreed to render Virginians’ presidential votes null and void. For example, should Virginians vote for a Republican presidential candidate but New Yorkers and Californians lead a Democrat to win the national popular vote, VA’s electoral college votes would be cast for the Democrat according to the compact.

The NPV compact is an end-run attempt to bypass the U.S. Constitution.

Romans 1 is God’s case against sinful mankind. In it, several parts are usually highlighted as particularly striking. What’s missed is that the most egregious component of the indictment is mankind’s willful, knowledgeable refusal to honor God and give thanks to Him. The other portions of the chapter are the inevitable consequences of this rebellion.

Futile reasoning, darkened foolish hearts, idolatry of man, idolatry of creatures, homosexuality, ravenous lust, identity confusion, dishonored and abused bodies, embraced and celebrated lies, evil unnatural desire, wickedness, greed, envy, deceit, murder, reprobate minds and more all flow from man dishonoring God.

On national television, she fixed her lips to say “Jesus himself did not run around saying, ‘I’m the Messiah, I’m the Messiah.’”

And it’s funny, you know, because ABC considers The View to be a news show.

This woman seems not to have opened a Bible in quite some time.

Had she opened one, she may have read, “A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his (or her) opinion.” Proverbs 18:2.

“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” has finally come to its end.  The show's final episode will air May 21st.

CBS is slated to replace the show, starting May 22nd, with “Comics Unleashed With Byron Allen” at 11:35 p.m. ET, followed by the comedy game show “Funny You Should Ask” at 12:35 a.m. ET. Both programs are produced by Allen, who has emphasized a focus on apolitical, family-friendly comedy.

According to the L.A. Times Allen told the comedians,

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 8-1 in favor of Kaley Chiles, a Christian counselor who challenged a Colorado law that sought to punish her for helping confused children embrace their God-given sex and identities instead of pushing trans-insanity.

The law at issue prohibited counselors from aiding children with unwanted same-sex attraction or dysphoria from helping them reject the distortions and confusion but, get this, it allowed counselors to encourage children to embrace same-sex attraction or transgenderism. Go figure.

CO set itself to legally require millstone activity.

Thankfully, even Justices Sotomayor and Kagan recognized CO’s ridiculousness.

After losing its attempt to defend an insidious state law prohibiting officials from informing parents about their children’s dysphoria, the state of CA has been ordered to pay $4.5 million in fees to the parents and teachers who's constitutional freedoms were trampled upon by the Golden State’s government.

The law specifically put school officials, teachers, and administrators in a wedge position between parents and their own children. It was government compelled mean-girling, forcing them to keep secrets from the children’s parents concerning identity and sexuality.

CA taxpayers will now have to pony up for their government’s parental and constitutional hostility.

“Then Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died at the age of one hundred and ten.” Judges 2:8 (NASB95).

Verse 10 in the 2nd chapter of Judges continues,

All that generation also were gathered to their fathers; and there arose another generation after them who did not know the LORD, nor yet the work which He had done for Israel.

These verses demonstrate what’s happened in America too. Our nation was founded declaring independence from England and dependence upon our Creator. Our national motto is “In God We trust,” yet we currently have a generation that largely does not know the LORD.

“America 250" must focus on what initially made our nation great.

"And the second is like it.  You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

When Queries by the pharisees concerning the greatest commandment, Jesus answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."

He then said the second greatest commandment is, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

He didn't simply say love your neighbor.  He said Christ followers must love our neighbors as ourselves.

Christian duty requires us to employ discernment and active empathy.  We worship our Lord when we put ourselves in one another's shoes as we do live together and resolve misunderstandings.

“He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will suffer harm.”  Proverbs 13:20 (NASB).

When my wife and I first started having children we discouraged our family members from speaking to them in baby talk… you know the gaga-googoo stuff.

The reason was simple.  We wanted our children to speak English well.  Baby talk would hinder that development.

The same principle applies to spiritual development.

If we want our children to be wise disciples of our LORD we should ask ourselves how much of their time is spent investing in spiritual maturity.

Protracted time in the company of spiritual baby-talkers will inevitably cause harm.

“The ear that listens to life-giving reproof will dwell among the wise.”  Proverbs 15:31 (ESV).

The book of Proverbs is one that flows with abundant insight for wisdom.  It shows that one of the most prominent qualities of wise people is that they welcome and even celebrate life-giving correction.

In today’s world, overrun by cultural Marxism, there is much discussion as to what segments of our society hate themselves.

Well, Proverbs gives the answer.  He who rejects life-giving correction despises himself.

The truest demonstration of self-hatred is revealed by knuckleheads who refuse to humble themselves and embrace life-giving correction.

Loving rebuke saves lives.  Correction displays love.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 (ESV).

Psalm 46 is a popular Psalm as it includes the text, “Be still, and know that I am God.” This was the conclusion to a Psalm that previously observed,

Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.

This described what looked like the end of the world. Nevertheless, the Psalmist remained unshaken. He refused to allow present difficulty to cause him to forget God’s past faithfulness.

Virus or no virus, God is our refuge and strength.

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” Matthew 19:5 (ESV).

With this statement Jesus affirmed what He’d already said in Genesis 1 and 2 and defined marriage for all time. Contrary to the protestations of the nouveau critical theorists, the nuclear family consisting of a married father and mother is not a western sociological prescription or construct.

Marriage did not originate in the west.  It’s origin isn’t suburban America.

It started in Genesis, in the Garden of Eden.  Marriage is God’s idea.  Therefore, He alone defines it.  If you don’t like it, your problem is with God… not me.

"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7 (ESV).

The verses from Colossians I just quoted are immediately followed by:

See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

The delusion and deception of humanistic philosophy require its prey to become bitter, entitled, and unthankful.

To remain impervious to deception, we must abound in thanksgiving to God.

Thanksgiving empowers us to reject the captivity of today’s grievance culture.
