Alex McFarland: We're so honored to be with you on the American Family Radio Network. We have a dynamite show today. We're going to be talking about some current events. We're going to be talking about, the news of the day from the lens of biblical worldview. I want to give you a verse as we, look at what's going on in the world. And that's Matthew 6:8. And I think this is a great encouragement. As you know, there's war in the Middle East. There's, so much acrimony and rancor, about this election coming up. And there's just a lot of those that are anti Christ, Christian, anti morality, frankly anti US Constitution, that are promising to, take away the government from the hands of President Donald Trump. In Matthew 6:8, Jesus said this, that God knows what we need even before we ask. Isn't that encouraging?
Bishop EW Jackson: I can hear you. Yes.
Alex McFarland: Be assured, dear friend, that the Lord is in control. And, and you know, I think about Jon 10:14 where Jesus said, I know my sheep, and my sheep hear my voice. I hope that you are one of his sheep. And in spite of the news, the instability, just the static that's in the air every day all around us. If you're a born again believer, you don't have to be fearful, you don't have to be paranoid. God is in control. You are in the palm of his hand. That's Jon 10:28. And he knows what you need even before you ask Matthew 6:8. Well, with me this morning, just a beloved, friend and colleague, E.W. jackson. He's an attorney, he's a pastor, he's a broadcaster, he's a Christian thinker. He's also my co host on a television show he and I do together called Truth and Liberty. It's seen on cable systems throughout the Western Hemisphere. and he's also a regular personality on the airwaves of the American Family Radio Network. E.W. jackson is with us now. first of all, good morning, Dr. Jackson. Hello, brother. Ew, are you there? Well, we're going to get him. I know we will. He was here a second ago. And, through the miracles of technology and sometimes the, the challenges of technology, we, you know, we do all these shows and we have guests all over the world, literally. Speaking of which, I solicit everyone's prayers. November 9 through 18, Tim Wildmon and I, and a lot of, people were going to Israel, good Lord willing. I know that's subject to, the affairs of the Middle east, but we are scheduled to go to Israel, and I'm going to try, when I'm over there to be live and maybe do a FaceTime video to exploring the Word, Bert Harper. And, the Exploring the Word show will go on live, even though I'll be in Israel November 9, through 18. So I covet everyone's prayers. You know, the thing about going to Israel, the thing that really, it's not being there. I've been there before, and we did a tour a few years ago. I, I think it's absolutely safe to be in Israel. It's the flight across the ocean that I'm not wild about. just spirit of full disclosure here. But again, Matthew 6, 8. God knows what we need even before we ask. Hey, you know, one of the things that I think it's important to emphasize these days, and I really appreciate Jeff Schrieve allowing me a little mic to time to talk with you about this is our identity in Christ. The Bible says that our life is hid with Christ in God. And do you know 167 times the Bible uses the word redeemed? 149 times in the Old Testament, 18 times in the NewSong Testament. If you're a believer, aren't you glad to be redeemed? The Lord wanted you. The Lord called you out. The Lord bought you with his own blood. You are redeemed. Safe, secure, saved in the arms of Jesus. Well, I believe we've got my friend, E.W. jackson back. E.W. are you there, sir? Ew. Do we. Yeah, we're going to get him. Just hang tight. ew. Whenever you get, patched in, let me know. But I want to talk about this word redeemed a little bit. there are a few Greek and Hebrew words, each with distinct meanings that refer to our redemption. The fact that we're bought, we're purchased, and paid for by the blood of Jesus. All right, there's one, agarazo, that means to buy something. There's ex agarazo, to buy out. In other words, like, to, redeemed something. I'm sure you've heard illustrations like a pawn shop. and there's a very famous story. Perhaps you've heard it in sermons. Supposedly true story. It comes from the 1800s. But there was a man. He was a woodcarver, he was an artisan, and he made a boat. and used to people would make very intricate models of, like, sailing ships and boats. Maybe you've seen a ship in a bottle, People would do that. but this artist made a great boat, and he would take it down to this river and float it. And it actually was. Though it was a model, it was a functional boat. But he, it got away from him, and it went down the river, and he couldn't retrieve it. It was very sad. This beautiful thing he had made was lost. So one day, sometime later, he's in a big city, and he's going down a street and. And there's a secondhand shop. And in the window is his boat. He knew by several details it was the boat he had made. Beautiful piece of art. And he went in and he said, that's actually mine. And the proprietor said, well, I'm sorry, but I've got it and it belongs to me. if you want it, you're going to have to pay money for it. So the man did, because it was very precious to him. And he held that, and he said, you are my twice boy. Bought boat, I made you and I purchased you. And that's what Agarazzo means, that God made us, but he also purchased us. There's another word. Lutru l u T r o o. To pay a price, to release. It's almost like bond. If someone is, incarcerated and somebody posts bail for them, they are released. And that's how it is. Finally, there's another, Hebrew word for redeemed. Gaou ga apostrophe a l to act as the kinsman redeemer. And that's who Jesus is he made us, he bought us, he redeemed us, he secures us. And I think it's time in this turbulent world that we Christians will we ponder on and remember our identity in Jesus. If you're a believer, you're safe in the arms of Jesus. Well, Bishop, E.W. jackson, colleague, friend, my co host on truth and liberty. Are you there, my dear brother?
Bishop EW Jackson: I certainly am, Alex. Great to be with you.
Alex McFarland: Well, good Friday morning to you, sir. what are you up to today? And I'm sure you'll be in a pulpit this weekend. Bring us up to speed on the Ministry of E.W. jackson.
Bishop EW Jackson: Well, look, I'm gonna be in three pulpits this weekend. In fact, I've got an event in King William county tonight, because we have a big election coming up. I'm gonna be speaking with, Jonathan Falwell and Gary Hambrick at Rock Church this coming Sunday. Not sure Gary's gonna be there actually, but a number of us will be there this coming Sunday. I should say. Sunday afternoon, Sunday evening at 7 o' we have two big issues on the ballot. The Democrats have proposed, enshrining same so called same sex marriage, which we know there's really no such thing, but they are trying to enshrine that in the Virginia Constitution. And they are also trying to put unrestricted abortion in the Virginia Constitution so that you can never remove these things again. And we are urging Christians to get out and vote in unprecedented numbers, not only in Virginia, of course, but across the country. Because, Alex, we have got. Our country is still at the precipice, even though we've got President Trump in office. There are people who are absolutely committed to tearing this country apart, destroying it, remaking it in some sort of demonic image. And we Christians have got to stand up against it.
Alex McFarland: absolutely. Absolutely we do. Let me ask you this. If they were to put same sex marriage in a state constitution, just because you put ink on paper, does that make it right?
Bishop EW Jackson: Well, you know, what's the word of God say? There is a way that seems right to man, but the ways thereof are the ways of death. And of course, look, there's no such thing as I said before, and people can concoct in their own wicked imaginations anything they want to. But you're right, it doesn't make it right, it doesn't make it good. And it certainly doesn't lead to human flourishing because you do it. I mean, we've heard this over and over again. And I want to emphasize this, brother Alex, because You know, we opened the floodgates. Not you and me and the people listening to us right now, but. But our country opened the floodgates the moment they began to say, well, you know, homosexuality, let's say the majority of Americans no longer believe that it's immoral. It's kind of a choice, no big deal. And two guys can get married, and now this is being promoted as normal and good and right. Well, you open that door, then the floodgates just pour in every demonic thing. This is how we got to transgenderism. This is how we got to guys playing on women's sports and showering in women's locker rooms. And all of this because once you knock down God's standard, well, what's the next standard? Well, whatever it is, you can be sure it will not reflect the glory of God. It will be mankind pushing the envelope to see just how evil and depraved we can be. And if we don't stop it here, we know what's coming next. Whatever the wicked imagination can come up with. Pedophilia, bestiality, you name it. That's what's. You know, we've already got furries, right? And we've already got people trying to redefine pedophilia as cause they call them now minor attracted persons. So this is the road we're going down, and we, the people of God, have got to turn the situation around.
Alex McFarland: You know, let me read a scripture, and, Dr. Jackson, if you would comment on it, Romans 1:28, speaking of, really the downward slide of a Christless culture. Even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind to do those things which are not convenient, being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignancy whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient parents without understanding, covenant breakers without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful. Who, knowing the judgment of God that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. ew. they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, and God let them go, gave, them over this slide. if I'm hearing you, and I agree, sin is never satisfied. They say, oh, well, let's knock down this standard. But then there's the abolition of the next standard. And on and on, and suddenly you're just in chaos and hell. comment on this. Are we seeing in our culture the outworking of Romans 1 and 2?
Bishop EW Jackson: Yeah, and look in Psalm 9, 17, which says, the wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that. Forget God. You want to have a hellish nation? Forget God? Put God out of the process. You know, let's not. We don't. Don't bring up the name of Jesus. We don't need prayer. We're tired of hearing about prayer. I mean, we've heard this stuff from the Democrat Party. We don't need to hear about prayer. We don't. Don't quote your Bible on this on the floor of the Congress, because we're not interested in what any God has to say. these are people who. That's what they want. And you're right. That's exactly where it leads. It. It is. It is not just a slippery slope. It's an exponential explosion of evil. And I think that's what Jesus was predicting at the end times. He said iniquity would abound and the love of many would grow cold. And, yes, that's exactly where we are. Because, look, evil people are afflicted, Alex, with the same thing that Satan tried to afflict and succeeded in afflicting Adam and Eve with. We want to be our own God. We want to establish our own standards. We want to have our own way. And God says, no, I am God, and your job is to adhere to my word, because that is how you're going to live the most fulfilling, the most satisfying, the most productive, productive life. But people say, no, no, no, no. I can make my own way and I can live my own life, which is, you know, what did Satan say to Adam and Eve? You know, that you eat this fruit, you're going to be like God. Well, they're already made in the image and likeness of God. They're already being taught by God. But no, no, no. He. He's going to take them to a new level. And that's exactly what people are afflicted with today. And I'll tell you, talk about destruction. I mean, Jesus said when. When the person who builds his house on the sand, he said, when that house falls, Jesus says, great is the fall of it. And the same thing can happen with a nation if we don't put a stop to it.
Alex McFarland: the voice you're hearing is E.W. jackson, just, a valued friend and colleague. He and I, a, month or two ago, started a new television show called Truth and Liberty. And I, would encourage you to try to find that show. We have a lot of exciting guests on there. We cover a lot of content. It's really the news of the day from a biblical worldview. And we're privileged to be on AFR this morning. EW, I know we've got a break coming up and we, got a lot of ground I'd like to cover with you. But before we go too much farther, give people your website. I know in addition to radio, television, publishing, you keep as full a schedule as anybody I know. What's your website? Ew.
Bishop EW Jackson: They can go to StandAmerica US just like it sounds. Standamerica. And I tell people you can pray for us, you can volunteer, and you can give their standAmerica us I
Alex McFarland: view you as an evangelist.
: Really.
Alex McFarland: I think every time I've heard you speak, you give the gospel and you call people to a relationship with Christ. but you're a cultural commentator. If you had to label yourself, when, what, what label would you put on what you do, sir?
Bishop EW Jackson: Well, with. Without in any way exalting myself, and I think this is just technically true, that God has called me to be a prophetic voice. And I think that that doesn't mean, you know, I'm calling myself a great prophet who's predicting the future, but I think it just means I'm speaking to the issues of the day from a biblical perspective.
Bishop EW Jackson: So I mean, to me, that's what God has called me to do.
Alex McFarland: If somebody asks you this, I'm going to pose a question to you. E.W. jackson, why do you trust the Bible?
Bishop EW Jackson: Do we have all day to talk about that?
Alex McFarland: Amen. Come on.
Bishop EW Jackson: let me say first, first of all, you know, when I got saved, the fact that God had reached down into me and changed me from the inside out and transformed my life and revealed himself to me. Sid thing he said was, everything in the Bible is true.
Alex McFarland: Amen.
Bishop EW Jackson: Because this is what it tells you to do. And it did it for me. So that's where it starts.
Alex McFarland: The, the voice you're hearing. E.W. jackson. He's, a guest with me today on Real Truth for today, Alex McFarland. So glad you're listening on this Friday. Alex McFarland: Welcome back Alex McFarland. Very honored to be be sitting in for Jeff Schrieve. appreciate Jeff trusting me with his program this morning. Hey, if you recognize, my voice, it might be from Exploring the word. For 16 years we've been on the American Family Radio Network. So grateful to do that Every day, Monday through Friday, 3pm Central, 4pm Eastern. And in the time zone of your choice, we do Exploring the Word, we just teach through the Bible. But I also have the great privilege, in addition to speaking, I praise God. I'm in a pulpit somewhere, like every weekend, almost about 45, 48 weekends a year, somewhere. But also, an opportunity came along a few months ago to be on a program called Truth and Liberty, which is a biblical worldview program, the news of the day through the lens of scripture. And the co host with me on Truth and liberty is E.W. jackson. And for years and years I tell people this story. I was at a conference years ago and I was going in this auditorium and the audience was just giving standing ovation after standing ovation. And the man on stage preaching God's word was E.W. jackson. And he could barely get through his outline for standing ovations. And he, to this day is probably the most powerful public speaker I've ever heard. And I've heard my share of speakers, a lot of great people. And EW can Light, a fire in the hearts of an audience like nobody else I've ever seen. It's the spirit of God. It's not oratory or just personal skills, although he certainly has them. It's God's Holy Spirit. And I think he'd be the first to say that, but it's always a privilege. He's. He's a busy man of God, but he's with us now. Ew. Jackson, it's so great to be with you, brother.
Bishop EW Jackson: and, well, Alex, you are far kinder than I'll ever deserve. but thank you. And, man, listen, I just enjoy being your colleague and, you know, your incisive, encyclopedic mind of scripture and history and all of that. So, man, it's just a blessing to know you and be able to work with you.
Alex McFarland: Well, back at you, brother. Back at you. You know, I've got to ask you, when did you first get up before an audience and preach God's word?
Bishop EW Jackson: Wow. It was in May of 1977.
Alex McFarland: Okay. and.
Bishop EW Jackson: Yeah, you go ahead.
Alex McFarland: Well, so you went to law school. I mean, you're an attorney, but God called you to preach the gospel.
Bishop EW Jackson: I was in law school when God called me. And I thought God was calling me away from law. I thought that I'd made a mistake. and I actually walked away from law school for about a week. And, the Lord rebuked me and said, I didn't tell you to leave law school because I've called you to preach. And I went back and told the dean that I'd made a mistake because I'd come to him and said, you know, I'm leaving because I believe God is calling me elsewhere. And when I went back, I said, you know what? I made a mistake. He said, I didn't do anything. He said, I figured you'd be back.
Alex McFarland: Wow. Wow. Isn't that great? Yeah. Because you can do. I mean, you can do both. In fact, let me say, you know, when I was a youth pastor, I used to talk to my youth about what I called. This is how I called it, the eight engines that drive the culture. Now, years later, I would hear Chuck Colson talk about the Seven Mountains. I would hear, you know, a lot of preachers and, Andrew Wommack and, Lucas Miles of tpusa, Charlie Kirk would talk about, and Lance Wallnau, the. The Seven Mountains. David Barton, the way I did It. And I had never heard of all those other guys. This is 35 years ago. And I Said, look, there's the home, the church, the classroom, the media, the marketplace, the judiciary, the arts, the sciences. I call it the eight engines that drive the culture. And I say, look, you take your Christian faith into wherever you go. And I believe the businessman that's a Christian in the marketplace, that's every bit as sacred as a preacher in a pulpit. In fact, it might be more so given some of the preachers in some of the pulpits nowadays. But, talk about the fact that of, I think what was America's greatness. And many people have documented this. In fact, the twice PULITZER Nominated historian Dr. Rodney Stark that I interviewed, rest his soul, he's in heaven now. I wanted desperately to get him in a conference, but he said that America's greatness was the iron Protestant work ethic. the medical doctor who's a Christian and his practice of medicine is informed by his Christian faith. That's every bit as sacred as a preacher in a pulpit. And on and on we could go. But, the Christian faith and disciples of the Lord in the realms of societal influence, that's what made America great.
Bishop EW Jackson: Amen. You know, it's interesting. Many gifts with one spirit. The first logo that God gave me for church that I pastored in Massachusetts was the five pointed star, with the point upward, not just demonic thing. And with each point being one of these aspects of life that God said Christianity should inform everything. Not just what you do in church and not just your family, but everything. And so you're right. Before we heard these folks saying that, I think the spirit of God was moving on many of us to help us understand that, to get, Christianity out of compartmentalization. Now I want to focus on a word that you used, that I've taught about and I'm going to be teaching a lot more about, which is this disciple. You know, I tell people, you know, the only Christian in the Bible who used the word, disciple to use the word Christian was the apostle Peter. When he said, I think it's in first Peter 4, 8, when he said, if we suffer as a Christian, then, you know, we should do so with grace, that kind of thing. But, but m. We're referred to mostly as disciples. Jesus said, go into all the world and make disciples. And I think Christian is a status word. It is who we are. Nothing wrong with it. But disciple to me is an action word. It says that you think, speak and act like the one who disciples you. Is there any area of life that Jesus Christ is not interested in being Seen being heard, having his Word informed. Science, politics, sports. I mean, there's no area of life where the word of God is not relevant. And this idea of compartmentalizing, well, I don't get involved in politics, I don't get involved in this because I'm too busy pastoring. I mean, to me it is really a perversion of the truth of God's Word. If the Word makes you free, what does it make you? Free. Only in one dimension of life. The Word makes us free in every dimension of life.
Alex McFarland: Yeah. Amen. Now, if you would define the word disciple.
Bishop EW Jackson: Well, you know, the word disciple really is a word that means pupil or student. And, we get our word discipline from it, because it is one who is really disciplined to be like the one who is disciplining them. We use the word discipline to think of punishment, but that's not really what the root of the word means. The root of the word really means to be taught. It means to be, to be made like the one who influences you. And Jesus said, remember In Jon, 8, 30, 32, he said, if you abide in my word, then are you my disciples indeed. Then are you truly taught by me. And then you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. So I think there are a lot of Christians, and it's part of our problem why our culture is in the condition it's in. A lot of Christians define themselves merely by church attend rather than by being dynamic disciples of Jesus Christ. I said we weren't. God didn't call us to make, status churchgoers. He called us to make dynamic disciples who impact every area of life.
Alex McFarland: Amen. I heard it defined like this one time. A disciple is a consistent, obedient, learning follower. And you know, my dad, rest his soul, he was a, ah, farmer for years and years and years. A decorated veteran, actually. Props to my dad in, World War II. Went down in a plane crash. Four people in a plane, and one survivor. That was my dad. I've actually got a picture of my dad in the wreckage of a downed plane. And, I've always loved the veterans because I had such respect for my dad. but my dad said this. Ew. he said some people have been a Christian 20 years and some people have been a Christian one year, 20 times. And that's pretty perceptive, I think, because we are supposed to grow. And the disciple that I am in five years from now should be way deeper than the disciple I am today. And that's one of the beautiful things about being a believer, I think about this. Ew. I've ministered to a lot of men. And, like, when men, they age, and it's very demoralizing to some guys when they can't do things like they once did or they retire. Retirement can be very traumatic. You can't, physically exert yourself the way you once did, something like that, aging. But when you're a believer in Jesus and your identity, the person you are, is rooted in Jesus, there's no limit. As long as you're in the land of the living, it's onward and upward. You grow in the Lord. Even if you're prostrate in a hospital bed, you can pray with great power. In fact, some of the most powerful disciples I've known were in the latter seasons of life. And they'd walk with the Lord for decades. And they were absolutely spiritual powerhouses. And I think that's exciting because, you know, aging and entropy and, you know, getting older, nobody likes that, obviously. but in Jesus, it's all like Paul said. The outward man perishes, but the inward man is renewed or strengthened day by day. And I think we need to maximize on our resilient identity in Jesus, our redeemer.
Bishop EW Jackson: Well, Alex, we're immortal people. We haven't put on immortality yet. So this body will have to be discarded and we'll get a new one. But the Bible says mortal shall put on immortality. We are immortal people. We are never going to die. I always say we have to remember the eternal perspective rather than just looking at the earthly perspective. And that's why, as we age, our minds can still be creative and we can still have ideas and the Holy Spirit can still lead us and guide us. Look, I was at a meeting with Richard, Vigory, whom you may or may not know, and the audience may not know. He is 93 years old, and he always says, my best years lie ahead. Now, he is a believer.
Alex McFarland: Praise, God.
Bishop EW Jackson: My best years are here.
Alex McFarland: Yeah, Right on.
Bishop EW Jackson: Amen. And there's a woman who's a member of my church, comes to church dressed to the nines, looking great, 95 years old.
Alex McFarland: Amen.
Bishop EW Jackson: Praising God. So, you know, yeah, I think we've got to get away from this, this, this earthly, fleshly perspective and really look at ourselves as immortal people who God is continuing to work in, not only now, but for all of eternity.
Alex McFarland: Amen. do you know, he's in Florida, and I think, he's getting on up there a little bit Jay Strack. Did you ever know Jay Strack? No. He was a youth evangelist. He said this, and it's great. He said, most Christians think too small, aim too low, and quit too soon. Okay, listen to this body of believers. And now here's the next assignment. I'm just going to tell you what your next assignment is for the next couple of weeks, and you don't even have to pray about it. you need to pray, pray, pray for this election. You need to be registered and get out and vote. You need to influence others, because quite literally, I do believe this. With the two houses of Congress up for grabs, really, the future of our country for the rest of our lives hangs in the balance. And we have an opportunity right now to be a part of the rescue mission. And I want to say it is code Red. You've got to pray for America and get out and vote. But beyond that, no matter who you are, what your age, what your situation, if you're a believer in Jesus Christ, you need to be thinking about big, deep, zealous service for Jesus. jstrack said, we think. Think too small, we aim too low, we quit too soon, and our God can do anything. I believe prayer can accomplish anything God can accomplish. Ew think about that, you know. Yeah, go ahead.
Bishop EW Jackson: We. We are sitting in the middle of an organization that was started by a man who had nothing. Brother Don Juan, had nothing. He was a giant. But nothing but a vision that God gave him, and he set out to accomplish that vision. Now here we are sitting in a network with a couple hundred stations around the country and who knows how many more outlets through telephones and a number of organizations that have been spawned by them, and you and I supported by them. I mean, you're right. He didn't think small, he didn't aim low, and he didn't quit.
Alex McFarland: Amen.
Bishop EW Jackson: And so we, you know, and he believed in redeeming this nation for God. And that's the mission that we are still on, and we're not going to lose it.
Alex McFarland: Amen. Amen. M. You know, Tim Wildmon, the president of the American Family association, has told me how his dad started AFA at the kitchen table.
Bishop EW Jackson: Yep.
Alex McFarland: I mean, really. And like EW said, I mean, right now, millions of people through a couple of hundred radio stations. And I know, Bert Harper and I, on exploring the Word, we correspond with people in England, Saudi Arabia, Canada, a lot of listeners in Canada, and they need the gospel in Canada. Even a, gentleman, a, Muslim, I got to Lead to Christ on the phone. We had three hours of telephone conversations. A, German Muslim, now a believer who listens to AFR online on his computer. he's actually in Romania doing an IT job right now. But the reach goes globally. But it all started with a vision. And so, dear listener, what is your personal vision? Maybe it's to get back in church and listen. I know that we, like to talk about big and the grandiose, but Christ is interested in just simple obedience, beginning right now. Now we've got another big segment. Alex McFarland here. We're talking with E.W. jackson. brother, this. I'm like a kid at Christmas. I have 55 minutes with E.W. jackson. Life is good. brother, give your website. We're going to take a quick break.
Bishop EW Jackson: Thank you, Alex. It's standAmerica. Us understand America. Us folks.
Alex McFarland: Alex mcfarland.com. that's my website. Stay tuned. More on Real Truth for today with our very special guest, E.W. jackson. We're back after this brief break.
: If you'd like to contact Pastor Jeff, email pastor jeffromhisheart.org now back to Real Truth for today with Pastor Jeff Schrieve.
Alex McFarland: Welcome back, Alex McFarland. M very honored to, to be sitting in for Jeff Schrieve on Real Truth for today. And I'll be on, today, 3:00pm Central with Bert Harper on Exploring the Word. That's the Bible teaching show we've, been so privileged to do for 16 years on American Family Radio. No signs of Stopping Fridays. We call it Fire Away Friday. We take any and every Bible question. And so tune in if you would and avail yourself to all the great programming on the AFR network. And with me right now is E.W. jackson and, E.W. earlier in the show, I asked, why do you believe that the Bible is the true word of God? And you said, hey, that would take a while. But, you know, I want to tell you, one of the great scholars and he called me last night, a man named Gary Habermas, and he is originally from Michigan. He did his Ph.D. at Michigan State. Probably the world expert on the resurrection of Christ, and he's a devout believer. we were in a meeting and somebody asked, you know, why should I believe the Bible is the word of God? And you know, you can talk about the manuscripts, you can talk about the archeological evidence, you can talk about fulfill prophecy, you can talk about a, lot of things. All valid. Habermas though, he said, because Jesus said so. And he was raised from the dead, and he kind of let it lay there a minute. Very simple answer, but very profound. Why do you believe the Bible is the word of God? And Habermas said, because Jesus said so, and he was raised from the dead. And he elaborated. He said, look, we have the words of Christ accurately preserved and the resurrection of Jesus. The empty tomb is the most attested fact of antiquity, the most well documented fact. He said, any man that has the power to conquer the grave, rise from the dead, proven to be God incarnate. And if he says the Bible is true, the Bible's true. And I love that, you know, Jon 10:35, Jesus said, the Scripture cannot be broken. And, don't you think that, the church needs to re. Remind itself of the accuracy and authority of the Bible?
Bishop EW Jackson: Yeah, you know, Alex, we need to remind ourselves. By the way, let me just mention I should have said this a while ago, but, you know, I'm still part of the AFR family. I've got a podcast, that's posted every Wednesday, the Awakening Podcast. And of course, I do a lot of subbing on AFR as well. So I, believe it is great to be part of this wonderful family. Look, you know, for me, my answer was, yes, Jesus was raised from the dead. I believe that with all my heart. But he also raised me from the dead.
Alex McFarland: Amen.
Bishop EW Jackson: M. And that's the promise that he made, that he would, if you put your faith in him, he would raise you from the dead. And I'll tell you, I went from death to life, and my life has never been the same. How could that be true and everything else in the Bible? Well, you know, maybe it is, maybe it isn't. I, mean, to me, that's the. The ultimate truth of the Word of God is what it does to transform the lives of people who put their faith in Jesus Christ. Now, let me say this. Part of our problem is that there are a lot of people who know about Christianity and have associated themselves with Christianity and go to church, but they don't have a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. They haven't been so fundamentally transformed that they just. They know. I mean, I tell people all the time. You know, I hear about people. I used to be a Christian, but I converted to Islam. I used to be a Christian, but I went Buddhist. Said, well, you never were a Christian, in my view, because if you've ever met Jesus, there is no going back.
Alex McFarland: amen.
Bishop EW Jackson: So, you know, you're right. There are many, many great scholastic arguments that can be made and archeological arguments that can be made. I really believe that the Shroud of Turin is proof of Jesus resurrection. That the power, that raised him from the dead was burned into that cloth. But even if somebody could prove to me categorically that that's not true, it wouldn't matter. Because exactly what he's done in my life is the ultimate proof of who he is and the truth of what he says. And you're right, Jesus said every word of the word of God is true. That's enough for me.
Alex McFarland: Well, and you know, Bert Harper and I did a book about 11 months ago on 100 Bible questions on prophecy and the end times. And, whenever somebody says, you know, give me one example of a fulfilled prophecy, I think the rebirth of the Nation of Israel, May 14, 1948. In our book, Bert and I, we said that the rebirth of Israel is the super sign. I mean, imagine 1900 years non existent and Israel was reborn in a day. And, that's an amazing thing. In fact, you know, folks, we're coming up on October 31st, which I call it Reformation Day, because that was the day that Martin Luther In Wittenberg, Germany, October 31, 1517, he nailed the document to the door of the Church. And salvation by faith spread throughout Europe. And we're to this moment, we are riding on the ripple effect of the Protestant Reformation. But there were in the 1700s, there were some atheists, like Voltaire, the French atheist, and one of the things they loved to harp on was, well, in the book of Revelation, it says, you know, Jerusalem this, Israel that. There is no Israel. The Bible must be false. Well, fast forward to the first half of the 20th century. A miracle. A miracle. And the Bible says in Ezekiel 38, 39, that in the last days the nations of the Arabian Peninsula will attack Israel. The Bible talks about Russia and China having millions of, soldiers that will one day attack Israel. And, it's all coming to pass now. We don't know the day or the hour. we would never presume to set a date. I will say this. you know, I categorically believe that we are very, very, very likely near the return of Jesus. I think we're in the last of the last days. Ew.
Bishop EW Jackson: Well, the spirit of Antichrist is clearly moving. And we can see things in this age that people in the past couldn't have imagined. I mean, when the, when the word of God talks about the image of the beast speaking, and now we see this rise of AI in which you Know in fact have been controversies now about, about people being made to speak. They're in one trial, a victim was actually put on AI and made m to speak as if he were alive, reflecting on his own death. And people objected to that. And I thought the things that the Bible predicted, the things that the Bible said would come to pass when people read it in the past would have to think how. Well how could that possibly be? How could that ever happen? Well now we can see exactly how could you mark every human being on earth? How is that possible? Well now we see all the technology, all of the things are there, that make what the Bible says very, very real and, and, and, and very present. Not, not. Well, maybe some, some, some, some far off distant future we could see how maybe something like that could arise. No, it's arisen. We are living in that era right now. So you're right. I don't know how long it's going to be. I mean, but it can't be long because people are already talking about AI and its ability to destroy mankind. Now I'm much more concerned about human beings than I am about AI frankly. But still these ideas of apocalyptic end to mankind because of the things that human beings are doing, the biological warfare experiments and all of this stuff tell me that Jesus is soon to come.
Alex McFarland: Indeed, indeed. You know, in the book of Revelation it talks about the beast. this is Revelation 13:5, that utters ah, haughty, boastful, blasphemous words and you know, the great swelling words of vanity. It's also that wording is in second Peter, chapter two, verse one and 18 as well. M AI I can imagine or easily envision, a computer that appears to have God like capabilities that will deceive people. I mean imagine, some computer seems to know you and it knows your history and it knows your medical records and everything about you. And you know, people wonder how could people worship a statue or worship, you know, some idol. Well AI, I mean if you are not grounded in the word of God, I can easily see how people would be deceived by AI, you know, and there are so many things I'm not even going to vocalize and talk about it, but there are things on YouTube that are, you know, historical figures that are speaking and saying things that are, you know, moderately false or overtly false. And folks, this is the time, number one, to know the Lord, make sure you're born again and you've trusted Christ, but then to steel your mind and equip yourself with the word of God, and you'll be able to, with the help of the Holy Spirit, discern truth from error, fact from fiction. But, the Bible talks about the, great delusion that will deceive many. And I firmly. I know AI is going to be a part of that.
Bishop EW Jackson: Well, I'll tell you something, Alex. The word of God also makes clear. I remind Christians of this every time I get a chance. So thank you for this opportunity. You know, we have to have a passionate, abiding love for truth, but we must also have a passionate hatred for falsehood, and not people, but falsehood. Because if lies liberate, then falsehood captivates it, incarcerates it, it binds people. And that's exactly what Satan wants to do. He wants to turn everybody into his slave. And that's what lies do. And so we as Christians have, just as we have to be clear on proclaiming what the truth is, we have to be clear on denouncing what we know are lies. I mean, and the Bible says that God hates lying. He hates lies. He hates bearing false witness. Psalm, 119, 104 and 128 say, I hate every false way. And there are a lot of false ways being presented to people. I mean, this Islamism and communism and socialism and, and, and sexual deviancy. And, you know, we're going to help a child live because that child was born in the wrong body. I mean, these are all very, very false and therefore very dangerous and destructive ideas that we've got to come against.
Alex McFarland: Indeed. Indeed. folks, we've been listening to E.W. jackson. Alex McFarland here. we've only got a few minutes left, but I want you to listen and please listen carefully with an open heart. And, I want to relate. 28 years ago, I had the privilege of going to the COVID the Billy Graham Conference center in western North Carolina. Franklin Graham was there, Anne Graham, and it was a conference for young evangelists. and, I guess 28 years ago, I fit that category. But Billy, Graham said to the audience he's. And I'm going to say it to everyone listening. Billy Graham said, when you get home, everybody get alone with God in your quiet place, wherever that is, get alone with God and get on your knees and say, God, what is my next assignment? And I did that because Billy Graham said, do it. And what, what Billy Graham says, believe me, I took to heart. But I got on my knees and into my mind came, truth for A new generation. And we began to do Youth Worldview conferences, and we've done them all over the country. And one day James Dobson called me and, said, I want you to come be a part of my team. And that was a huge career, blessing. And then working for James Dobson, I came into contact with Tim Wildmon and AFR and here we are. And 23 years and 21 books later, and about a quarter million people walk the aisle. I give God the glory, but I want everybody in. Ew. You, piggyback on this if you want to. Folks, get on your knees and say, God, what is my next assignment? Because no matter who you are, if you're a believer, the Lord has assignments for you. He does. We know you might say, well, I know God would use E.W. jackson, or I know God would use Tim Wildmon. Listen, God will use you and EW for the Christian. Isn't the Christian life a series of assignments?
Bishop EW Jackson: It most certainly is. And first of all, it's one great calling. But God calls us to different times, at different times, to different places and different circumstances. You and I have been called, I really believe, to do truth and liberty. I didn't anticipate this, but here we are.
Alex McFarland: Amen.
Bishop EW Jackson: We've been called to afr so, yes, whatever that assignment is, look, doing what God wants you to do, being in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing, is the soul of obedience. You can be doing the right thing, but if it's not what God tells you to be doing, you're doing the wrong thing ultimately.
Alex McFarland: Amen. And one of the assignments, folks, as a citizen, and I'm telling you by God's word, by historical precedent, and, with the core of all conviction that I have, you are to vote and vote godly and be registered. And from now till November 3rd, pray, pray, pray. Because the future of our country is in the balance. We've only got a minute or so, but give us a final challenge. EW we.
Bishop EW Jackson: Well, look, the chief ambition of the disciple of Jesus Christ is to please God. And we must do that in every dimension of life. And that certainly includes and would never exclude politics. We have a challenge before us. Let's rise to the challenge.
Alex McFarland: Indeed. Thank you. E.W. jackson, this is Alex McFarland. You know, remember that Jesus is as close by as a prayer. And remember, remember First Corinthians 15:58. Dear friends, your labor in the Lord is not in vain. Now let's get out there and represent Jesus and be a part of saving America. God bless you. I'll be back at 3pm Central on exploring the Word. In the meantime, tell somebody about afr, but tell everybody about Jesus.
Alex McFarland welcomes Bishop E.W. Jackson, pastor, attorney, broadcaster, and co-host of Truth and Liberty, to Real Truth for Today for a discussion on current events through the lens of a biblical worldview. Jackson shares why Christians must stand firmly on God’s Word, engage with the cultural issues of the day, and bring their faith into every area of life. They discuss the importance of discipleship, the authority of Scripture, the dangers of deception, and the challenges facing America. Jackson also reflects on his personal journey of faith and encourages believers to seek God’s direction for their lives, remain committed to truth, and faithfully serve Christ in their families, churches, workplaces, and communities. The conversation challenges Christians to live with an eternal perspective and boldly fulfill their God-given assignments.
